Episodes 1-6 were almost a waste of time. Yes you got back story here and there and as another review put it "its like an onion pulled back layer by layer" but there was so much that wasn't part of the overall story- fluff that just grated on my nerves. Especially since they also try to set up a love story that wasn't beneficial to the plot.
Being a vampire fanatic I also had problems with the mythology and there were scenes and shots that made no sense.
The female leads part was also unnecessary, it was almost like they were going to start up a romance, we even get her back story, but it just flops and seems like it was added in to get female viewers.
All this said ep. 7-12 did get better and episode 11 and 12 were by far the best. I liked the ending which was this dramas only saving grace when I scored it.

The action scenes are excellent and well thought out. Chang Wook does most of the stunts himself which of course makes it even more impressive. They never try to show any outlandish stunts and everything is reality believable.
The romance is nice because its sweet, there is no love triangle and it makes for a more believable romance story line. That said the romance is definitely there. This is an action romance not just action. So go into it with those expectations. I think they do a really good job at setting that up from the beginning where as in other shows it almost seems tacked on at the end.
The back story that connects all the characters together is well thought out and I was really impressed with how it managed to wrap up. Admittedly I got worried around episode 18 when there were still so many things unanswered.
Over all this drama gets a 10 from me and is strongly recommended especially if you want somthign more than just romance that you can watch with your significant other.

Healer has everything - a perfect OST, an epic OTP, an amazing cast, and a script that keeps you invested from start to finish. I found myself falling more and more in love with this show after each episode. The battle between good and bad/ right and wrong just grabs you and makes you want to root for the guys fighting to make sure truth prevails.
The acting is top notch. It's adorable, sincere, cool - everything you need to fully invest in the story. The music is beautiful. The synopsis really doesn't do this story justice. You might think that watching a story about reporters would be extremely boring, but Healer is anything but. It's a great mix of action, romance, and mystery. If you only watch one kdrama this year, it should be this one.

Ok, since I always rate drama based on my enjoyment, involment in a story and its characters, plot I couldn't give this drama lower than 10 and I don't regret a single thing. Why?
First to say that I didn't start this drama when the pilot episode aired as I knew right from the start that I won't be able to handle the pain waiting for the next episode. So, I just tried to stay cool and resist it as much as possible. But, when all that crazy hype started on my feeds I just gave up and this drama won me over. The beginning was somewhat slow and so I was like "Ok, I'll continue watching it anyway." But, mamma mia when I got around ep 6 I got totally hooked like almost all of us here. Then, I totally understood all the hype, crazinees, fangirling, so I started doing that things myself too.
As I said before story is not a masterpiece, not something new or 'wow' but it's told in most brilliant and perfect way that you totally have no other choice then just enjoy in its talanted writing and directing. Every character, story started with a slow pace, but slowly got more and more its depth and colour.
What I loved, I mean the loved the most is the characters development. It's rare to see in a drama such a great connection between all of them, their trust, love towards each other may it be a special love for someone or may it be family's, every character was written and portrayed to the perfection. They all somehow slowly gained trust in each other, without any stupid doubts and misunderstandings like we get to see in most kdramas, unfortunately. Yup, I only have praise and one big respect for Song Ji Na and her wonderful brain and talent. She really made on my list one of the most respected and greatest kdrama writers. Now, get back to drama.
Another thing that makes my heart melt, or should I say beat is the great, the most romantic chemistry between Young Shin and Jung Hoo. No second male leads, no misunderstandings, no doubts, just trust and love. And that is the most important thing in a relationship as well in dramas as well in real life. I simply enjoyed in every single romantic scene of them as they had the chemistry right up to my taste. Natural and real. The main song is right written for them, describing their love and longing with a beautiful words. So to sum it up, this is just another plus, another reason why I gave a 10. They moved my heart, really.
Oh the actors. Well, without them this drama wouldn't be possible right? But, you have to choose the right ones for the right drama, right? And they were right. All 3 of them are phenomenal.
Ji Chang Wook, our main hero, known as a Healer is a night errand boy who is taking a job offers for a right sum of money. He never shows his face nor his identity, but when the girl entered in his life, he started to change. He wanted to be more freer, to love, to do things what normal people do. He proved to me that he's not only a handsome and beautiful face, but very talanted young man who will get more and more recognised and respected in a future. He definitely became one of my favorite actors and I think that he totally deserves it. Plus, he's very hot. Hehehe, let me fangirl a little ok? His puppy dog eyes, his puppy and innocent face when he's sleeping, his big shoulders, really a manly one, his voice, hands, body everything is sexy and perfect. Oh, is it getting hot in here?
Park Min Young as Chae Young Shin. Hmm, first let me say that I'm not some fan of her, but I don't hate her either. But, after watching her in this, she's slowly getting my respect. Young Shin is a tabloid reporter who has her own life and problems. She's not just average female lead where her world is all about the main guy and she'll die if they're not together. NO, it's very opposite of that. She's very strong, strong-willed, cheerful young lady who likes to dance, sings and who feels loved by her 'dad' and his gang. She was abandoned when she was young, so she misses mother's love, but despite all that Young Shin is still living to the fullest. When she first met Healer, she got curious in him, but later that curiosity developed into something more... love! Maybe PMY wasn't the best actress for this role, but she made it very believable. Oh, and one more thing, I LOVE this kinds of female leads! She trusted him, believed and never questioned Jung Hoo's decision or choice. And respect to that! ;)
Yoo Ji Tae as Kim Moon Hoo- Man, that guy is the most complex and loveable character EVER. He can be a badass, but at the same time he's the most charming one. He's a reporter who is only playing fairly. His brother has a big secret, which involves Young Shin and Jung Hoo too and he's determined to find out the truth by all means. I loved his character and YJT portayed phenomenally. When he cried, I cried too, when he laughed, I laughed too. So, yes as for two main heros the same goes for him, I lived with these characters.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the most hilarious, coolest Ahjumma EVER. She was the higlight of every single episode and her relationship with Healer was in a coo, but professional way. I waited and waited 'till I finally got what I was looking for all the time from Ji Na. The team work: Healer, Ahjumma, Moon Ho and Young Shin. And then I was like "Yes, I'm completed now!"
I didn't got bored even for a second. Every single episode got me at the edge of my seat and I was just thirsty for more. There is always something happening, so there really was no time to yawn and say "Oh, this is boring, I'll continue later."At least that was a case for me. This may not be the best drama out there, but it sure got my full attention and interest so I'm happy that I get to joined in a long list of those who appreciated this drama. Speaking objectively, I think that this drama deserves a high rating as it has right now and all the hype and craziness were reasonable.
Also the music is really good. My definitely the favorite one is the main song which describes the love between main leads, as I said before. It's been on my ringtone for days hehehehe ;)
I'll definitely, for sure rewatch this drama! It totally deserves it! I laughed, cried, felt happy, sad, angry, got feels while watching this so it's a pure and full 10 from me. I lived with this drama.

Story:
The story is probably the weakest part of this series with several discrepancies that leaves you with more questions than answers. The weakness stems from the supernatural-ness of the main character Do Min Joon being an alien who comes from another planet. Over time while watching, many questions will arise regarding DMJ (the alien's) background and how relevant it is to the story at all. In the end, the only relevancy appears to be the fact DMJ never ages and he is a living fossil of 400 years of Korean history. If you go into this show expecting Sci-fi rational you might be sorely disappointed. However questions about DMJ's past aside, the rest of the storyboard which focuses on melodrama is very solid and extremely well paced. 8.5/10
Acting/Cast:
JJH acting as Cheong Song Yi really outdid herself in this role, the amount of versatility required of her character was extremely high. She has to portray the glamorous life of a top Hallyu star with all the pride and arrogance that celebrities are known for, while showing the viewers the vulnerable person underneath all that; a girl who was forced to grow up too quick, a woman who has not yet experienced the thrills of first love, and a daughter in a broken family. In the span of this drama, she awes us all with the facets of the character Cheong Song Yi, we laugh when she is silly and drunk, cry when she is sad and heartbroken, scream when she is alone and in danger, and then laugh some more at her singing and rapping.
KSH acting as Do Min Joon the alien who lived on Earth for more than 400 years. He did a great job at expressing emotion using very little facial expression and portraying a 'old soul' aura onto his character. KSH has very natural chemistry with JJH this cannot be reputed, their very brief but scorching kiss scene in The Thieves was the highlight of the movie while I watched it. The same can be said for this drama, whenever scenes of the two occur it's a natural magnet for the eyes they stand out in a very good way. So kudos to the casting for putting KSH and JJH together in one drama, they already won half the battle in my opinion.
Props should also be given to the supporting casts especially Yoo In Na who played the jealous best friend of Cheong Song Yi who somehow managed to gain my sympathy despite the antagonism of her role. Park Hae Jin who played the foolish man who is in love with the same girl for over 15 years and still persists, what a stubborn and loyal guy. Shin Sung Rok the villain with the deadly creepy glare, he has pretty natural chemistry with KSH too, the scenes of the two standing face to face glaring at each other redefines black and white. 10/10
Music:
I was very taken with the music in this drama, both instrumental and OST songs. My favorite songs in the OST are 'Like a Star' by K.Will and 'Tears Like Today' by Huh Gak. I really enjoy the way the OST complements the natural atmosphere of the drama and enhances the heart warming aspects without sounding like background noise as it happens in some dramas. The instrumental Beethoven Revolution, Stars Comic Tension, Run Away (Ending Title), are some of the highlights in the drama that never fails to set the mood and increase the tension. 9/10
Rewatch Value:
This where this drama breaks open my door and set a new record for me in terms of loving it. How worth is it of a re-watch? I can answer this by saying, the first time i watched this drama i did it in 3 days. 5 days later i re-watched it again this time in 2 days. It only took another 9 days for me to decide to re-re-watch it again. Each time i watched I did not regret every single minute it took because i still laughed at all of Cheong Song Yi's silliness and enjoyed every bit of DMJ/CSY interaction on screen just as if it was the first time. Would i re-watch this drama even more in the future? Without a doubt yes, maybe in a year or two i will come back to it again. 10/10
Overall:
I wonder if this drama set the bar too high for me in the future of kdramas, post YWCFTS i've tried to watch a few other kdrama but none had as big of a emotional impact on me. I'm not in the habit of rating things 10/10 and in light of the flaws in the story, as well as the ending nearly disappointing me I will not give it a perfect 10, but a 9.5.

Unlike most j-doramas, this drama concentrate with in depth with one character only, and most other characters are seen from his point of view. The story starts with our protagonist's first day at the university. He thinks he's destined for greatness, and everyone else is beneath his capabilities. Little did he know of the hardship and competition he'd need to face to reach anything close to greatness. As much as comedy is at the forefront of everything that is dealt with, it is undeniably a coming of age piece through and through. University time is a tricky time. It's a time where they need to leave their childhood behind and actually take hold of their future to accomplish their goals and fulfill their dreams, but the road is not only bumpy, but also not clear at all. It gets more obscure when you haven't set a specific goal and only dream of the reward. I think most of us go through this phase at one point in our life, but this dorama gives us an exposition of it in an extreme sense through the eyes of Moyuru Honoo.
I have to say, I cannot imagine what this show would've turned out with the hands of a lesser actor than Yugira Yuuya. He acted it out, with every inch of his body and soul. With all the things his character goes through, with all its craziness and patheticness, he still manages to be cute and makes an adorable grumpy face. I can't think of him as anything short of a genius. It isn't surprising that he's Canne's youngest prize winner back in 2004. That guy is to watch out for! Another role that stood out mostly thanks to its portrayal by the actor is Yasuda Ken's Hideaki Anno. He was flawless as the genius workaholic geek with no sense of awareness of what is going on around him. Anno is everything Honoo fails to become, for better or for worse. Another honorary mention is Muro Tsuyushi as Hiroyuki Yamaga, with his - my meal ticket- face he does. All the other characters were pretty normal people, and we don't really go in depth with their personality, but the cast still does a good job in portraying them.
The music perfectly sets the tone of the era, and adds more hilarity to the situation. The direction here had an image and knew exactly what to aim for.
This drama is a must watch for anyone who loves japanese comedies, specially over the top ones, also for anime fan. People not familiar with that type of don't like the over the top slap stick comedy may have trouble accepting it, but if you give it a chance, I'm pretty sure you'll find a gem here.

This was the first Korean drama I watched after Autumn In My Heart took over Asia. I only watched it because I recognized Song Hye Kyo. This is a typical Korean drama with a lot of bickering and fighting and are we together? no, we're not together. Do I like him? Does she like me? It's a good ol' classic Korean drama. It is okay if you are starting to get into Korean dramas but Korean dramas now are nothing like ones in this era. It's light and fluffy though, so if you want something where there is really no emotional investment on the show, watch this.

I watched only because I wanted to see Minho act. Sulli was terrible. Idols shouldn't act unless they prove to have any potential at all. I have read the manga and I have also watched the Japanese version. If you want to watch this show, I think it would be better to watch it just to see all the pretty and silliness of it. The set was beautiful with a lot of bright colors and things but the story execution was so disappointing and awful. The Japanese one is so much better.

That is all I remembered. Pretty cast but what a shame that the story was terrible. I think the ratings were due to the fact that it was an all-star cast. I ony finished it because I wanted to know what happened to young-do. It's the kind of drama-crack where all you really care about is the pretty on the show. Passable.
