This is it. My first historical drama, complete! As a historical drama should, it was filled with hanboks, politics, and... vampires!? "Scholar Who Walks the Night", or what I feel the drama could be alternatively titled, "Kim Sung Yeol runs around on rooftops", had all the potential to be a 10/10 drama. Great cast, amazing music, wonderful costumes and sets-- the only thing holding it back was unfortunately the story.

With the vampire popularity boom these past few years, you'd think that we ought to have grown tired of them by now... The premise of this drama is good. No complaints. Just somehow, they managed to mess up on the execution. Some characters have depth, while others are rather one-dimensional. Yang Sun was a bit too clingy and stubborn for my liking. She wasn't able to take no for an answer and followed the Scholar around like a tail. Gwi, on the other hand, seemed like a dull character at first but turned out to be one of the stars of the show. The gisaeng Kim Sung Yeol's right hand Soo Hyang showed some great character development, and Ho Jin charmed us all, I think, with his yes-can-do attitude.

The drama moved along extremely slowly around episode 8-10. I watched this on Viki, and I have never appreciated the timed comments-function more. Then the drama changed writers, which was kind of both good and bad. Good, because the pace quickened again and prevented the audience from dying from boredom. Bad, because a lot of loose ends were left at the end. What was the deal with the black cloak anyway? The final episode, by the way, was probably the best final episode I've ever seen- for the first half, that is. The second half, and especially the last ten minutes, provided the second least satisfying ending I've ever seen (those of you that have seen Big know what I'm about). In any case, the storyline wasn't that complex that it really required all that much explaining in the end anyways.

But what really got me coming back to continue watching this drama week after week isn't the story- it's the sets and the costumes. Since it's a historical drama, all characters wear traditional Korean clothes, which I've come to understand is called a hanbok. Men wear some sort of long robe and women wear a jacket and a skirt. All the costumes are beyond amazing. With their intricate details, lovely cuts and overall design, it's clear that the costume team spent a lot of time making these. Thank you costume department!

The cast all did a splendid job. This is the first time I've ever seen Lee Joon Gi, but let me tell you, it won't be the last. I am definitively seeing more of him in the future! That man can act. There were many demanding scenes in this drama, but he acted all of them out wonderfully. Lee Yu Bi, too, did a great job. Real emotions; real tears, real smiles, real kisses. The two of them had real chemistry, which unfortunately cannot be said for Shim Chang Min and Kim So Eun. Individually, they were great. Just not so much together.

I also won't forget that this drama gave the world the gift that is Secret Paradise by Jang Jane. This song is everything. I swear I've listened to it a hundred times. Not only is the atmosphere it gives incredibly well-suited for the drama, it's also a real tune. I just love it so much. The rest of the soundtrack doesn't disappoint either: both Beast and Yook Sung Jae, among others, feature on the OST. The background music overall is strong in this drama. The instrumentals are thematic and really set the mood. There are even a few that I'd like on my iPod (if they only would release the soundtrack... please, if you're reading this, MBC people).

Even if saeguks aren't your thing, "Scholar Who Walks the Night" is still a drama worth watching for its excellent production, music and cast.

First of all, Lee Joongi is one of my favourite Actors (along Song Joongki), but I am not a fan of all of his dramas. One Drama I dropped because in my opinion the role in 'Hero' didn't suit him.
I planned to see SWWTN even before he was confirmed as the male lead. But when I read that he would play the role of Kim Sungyeol I was happy because I missed him in a drama.

The Story sounds interesting (I didn't read the manhwa) so I was excited for the beginning of July when the drama started. Normally I don't like dramas with Vampires but I thought that it would be different, if it is set in the Joseon period. So I started the drama from beginning when it was aired. The Beginning of the drama was very interesting, but some scenes was a bit...not boring for me, but not so, that I would give it a 10.

The Cast was very good. Lee Joonki plays his role as a Vampire scholar very autenthic and even though I wasn't a fan of him after this drama I would be one. Before this drama I thought already that he is the best when it comes to historical dramas, even though I would love to see him in a drama like 'Two Weeks' again. When I heart that Lee Yoobi would play the female Lead I was sceptical. I watched Pinocchio and there I found her very annoying. But I think she did very well and the Chemistry was very good. Kim Soeun is a very talented actress, but her role was a little bit confusing. Changmin surprised me with his role as the crown Prince. He acted very well compared to his drama 'Paradise Ranch'. Jang Heejin and Choi Taehwan did their rifht thing and were well, too.

But what I like the most of this drama is the Music. I love the OST. All of them. In my opinion it is the best OST in a drama this year.

All in all I would recommend the drama and I will watch it again, if my 'plan to watch'-List is smaller^^.

I finally watched this old gem of a drama! I now understand why it is so well-known and loved by k-drama fans. A rom-com filled with scenes that could either make you roll on the floor laughing or reaching out for tissues. I also love the fact that this drama deals with social issues that are still relevant, such as homosexuality, gender roles, etc.
The acting is fantastic- in fact this is the third drama to bring me to the brink of tears (Can you guess which drama made me cry first?)

Our leading couple are the cutest! I couldn't get enough of them. Go Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) is loud, stubborn, independent, and hard-working. A very focused person since she doesn't get swayed too easy from her principles and goals. An almost typical heroine except for her sensitive nature and HUGE APPETITE! Overall, I think the actress performed fantastically! I totally adore Go Eun Chan!

Choi Han Kyul (Gong Yoo) is passionate and kind-hearted- I think he is one of my favorite leading male characters. He is full of surprises! Just as one of the characters mentioned, He looks all cool and arrogant on the outside but he really is an adorable, awkward teddy-bear on the inside. He reminds me of Shang from the Disney movie Mulan. (Oh my god, he and Go Eun Chan are the k-drama version of Shang and Mulan)
Anyways...
The artsy supporting couple are so lovable. I'm envious of Choi Han Seong and Han Yoo Joo's relationship- that is how brilliant their acting was. Personally, I love Han Yoo Joo since I can relate to her 90% of the time and she knows how to keep her cool and joke around.

Nothing in Coffee Prince really bothered me, except the grandmother's reaction when she found out that Eun Chan is a girl. Also, I know I praised Han Kyul earlier but when things where rough between him and Eun Chan, he got really abusive. Verbal abuse isn't new in Korean drama but Han Kyul went over-board so many times, I almost hated him.
Also, I'm really glad that Choi Han Kyul and Go Eun Chan didn't rush into marriage. That was only one of the few things Jin Ha Rim (the nosy one) said that I agreed with.

Overall, The characters are all lovable despite their flaws and despite how old the drama is, it is still relevant and enjoyable.

Despite all the bad reviews about this drama, I'm still excited to watch this because I'm a fan of Gong Yoo acting. And I think i'm right, Gong Yoo act so well in this movie. But somehow I found myself skipped a lot of scene when I watched this. After a lot of thought, this is my opinion :
Act: 2 main actors doing a very good job in acting, but somehow the chemistry between them wasn't good enough. So if I watched them individually, their act is impressive but they re lacking chemistry. Thats what I thought.

Music: actually, I didn't listen to it because I skipped a lot so....well...what can I say

The biggest failure in this drama is the storyline I guess.... I think there's to much going on, to many people involved in the plot and almost everything wasn't well executed. about the marriage for example. I think the scenario actually can be 2 up to 3 different drama. I found myself liking it at the beginning, since it sweet, but I'm getting confused and boring after around episode 3. The main idea about the story was brilliant, and I like it (the main idea about switching soul) but to many twist in between and a lot of it wasn't well executed..so..
Still..I'm able to finished it, but I don't want to watch this drama ever again.

I think this one is seriously underrated by a lot of people - probably because they went into it with expectations. I went into it with low expectations and I was actually pleasantly surprised.

First off, I think this is miscategorized as romance. There is some romantic content - but the focus of this drama really isn't romance, and I think the summary and the title both illustrate that. Instead it is more of an office-drama and focuses on the different interpersonal relationships among the employees - many of a romantic nature, but it also focuses very heavily on Noda Naoko's relationships with the women she works with, just as the summary says - she has become their big sister and spends a lot of her time at work advising and guiding her juniors both in their careers and in their love lives.

The series also provides a glimpse of a number of different types of romantic relationships - a long-term affair between a female employee and her boss, two people just beginning a flirtation/dating relationship, newlyweds, unrequited one-way attraction, younger woman/older man, attraction to a friend's husband, arranged dating, relationship between a man and a divorced woman, unhappily married couple...they're all in here. So to call this drama a romance is really doing it a disservice. Anyone going into this drama with the expectation of grand, sweeping romance will be highly disappointed.

Thirdly, if you're going into this with expectations of this being a noona romance and seeing Akanishi Jin playing the younger, romantic swain who sweeps the cute but older woman off her feet - you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Noda Naoko's love-life is a tangled mess. Her parents are desperate for her to get married and have begun the process of arranging blind dates with potential marriage candidates for her. Unfortunately, she has an encounter with a Knight in Shining Armor on the train one evening - but he's wearing a ring, and turns out to be the husband of a woman she once worked with and later develops a friendship with. Finally, there's this cute younger new guy at work who slowly develops a crush on her that she can't help responding to, so she's being pulled in several different directions and makes missteps along the way - and some of them wind up being very painful and embarrassing for her.

Vague spoilers below - because one of the things people seem to take issue with in this drama is the ending, so if you don't want any info about the ending at all, don't read any further.

This is really more a story of how Naoko comes to the realization that her life isn't over just because she's over 30 and not yet married - and that marriage isn't the ultimate goal of her life or something that will give her life meaning, but merely one of the many events along the journey. And with that in mind - seeing her walk down the aisle with someone at the end of the drama, or even cementing a relationship with any of these guys would have been a disingenuous ending and would have undermined the foundation laid in the 9 prior episodes. The entire point of the drama is that "A MAN" isn't going to make Naoko happy - she must learn to find happiness herself.

Story - 9, because I think it's a lot deeper than people give it credit for. Music - 6. Not sure why they went with We Will Rock You - that was a little weird, and other than that, it's a little off in some places and clashes with what's going on (deeply romantic classical music in some places that just didn't fit). Cast is 9 because I love Shinohara Ryoko - she's awesome. Akinishi is pretty to look at - but I don't consider him a stellar actor. I liked him better in the movie Bandage, probably because that character was less of a stretch. However, he does give the awkward junior with an undesirable crush on his senpai (?) some believability so I'll give him a pass for that. Rewatch value: 4. To be honest, the things I like to rewatch usually are the heart-fluttering romantic moments. There are scenes in my favorites that I rewatch over and over. I didn't really come up with many of those moments in this one. Enjoyed it a lot the first time through, though.

So. If you're looking for a heart-warming noona-romance, this isn't it. But that doesn't mean you should automatically skip it, either.

Good:Lead actor and actress acting is very good.
Bad: Everything.
Making lead actor/actress as a fool is one type of plot scenario that can infuriate all viewers. Even then if the drama is 30+ episode it can be tolerable. 90+? Choi Min Young family like hyena biting every piece of meat of Jang Soo Hyun when ever they like it. This drama plot is so much away from reality. The love between Jang Soo Hyun vs Choi Min Young is one sided. Choi Min Young is has selfish obsession over Jang Soo Hyun that he call it LOVE. if he can't protect is love its exploitation. is it watchable? no. This drama is made just to make viewers blood boil. The writers probably laughed at viewers stupidity to watch this nonsense drama.

I think this is not only the first drama I have skipped so many parts of, but the first drama where I was disappointed and bummed out by the main characters being together. Dong Joo is way too good for Soo Wan. She was always whining and crying and making Dong Joo chase her all over to prove how much he loved her over and over again. Everything with her was drama and misery. I wouldn't recommend this drama to anyone and you couldn't pay me to sit through it again. Very little action and suspense, episodes seemed to drag on and be repetitive, and I don't think I've disliked many characters the way I disliked Soo Wan. The only interesting parts of the drama were with Teddy (though his manner of speaking by adding 'u' to everything was annoying) and with Ji Woo. Awful drama. It started off so well too and had such promise. Shame.

Lee bo young is one overyhyped actress. Here all she does is start at ceiling. Whole friggin drama. It gets boring to see here show same emotion whole drama. She was ok in IHY at beginning then i dropped as i can't stand her boring acting. Some people have luck. She is one of those. She brings nothing to any drama she acted in. She does n't make mistake because she does nothing in a drama. If you people try to act you can find fault but she does n't even try to act. It is quiet unbelievable some people are fan of her. World is full of strange people. :)

This drama might be too long, too intense, and too melodramatic for some but it suited my drama watching taste perfectly. First of all, we have a wonderful dramaland reunion between Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae. They were both precious in My Girl, but since then both of them have really matured as actors and their chemistry in Hotel King is undeniable. There's this naturalness to how they interact. Although the drama can be very serious, they have some lighthearted moments which balance the drama.

I have to mention veteran actors Kim Hae Sook and Lee Deok Hwa who were excellent casting in this drama. I already liked them both, but they really blew me away in this drama. Their roles are very important to the story and they both knocked it out of the park. Kim Hae Sook in particular left me in awe. I have so much respect for her as an actress.

Now, it is a long drama and it seems there is always something big happening, so unless you crave ridiculous plot twists that melodramas give us, it's probably not the best fit for you. I felt they did a really good job at keeping the drama interesting and it made me want to watch on episode after the other.

The story was really good. In the first few episodes some of the acting seemed overly intense and I felt a little taken aback a times, but it leveled out and the acting became very natural. LDW had a very challenging role with his heartbreaking past. I thought he played is robotic like character well and showed us a lot of depth and growth as the episodes progressed. LDH is the queen of eccentricity but also managed to show us so much heart.

Since the drama is so long, I don't know if I would rewatch it from start to finish, but there are so many scenes that are worth rewatching and dwelling upon.

This drama is so good to the point that I find myself writing my very first review...So here it goes:
At the first it might seem like one of those family dramas that have nothing new going on,but we soon start realizing that "Kazoku Game" is far from those boring and "normal" tv shows. Why? That's the magic of the whole drama...
Even tough we think that we know what's going on, something seems to always suprise the audience, since the past of our main character seems to carry a lot of secrets that leaves us wondering if this character might hve good intentions or not, and in short time we end up just like the family by starting to trust too on Yoshimoto Kouya and hoping that beneath all of those strange tactics it's a good will.
Good or bad will we watch this family succumb to Kouya game, and just like them we witness a change without even realizing...That was what Kouya did. He changed both the family and me,that by the end of the drama was completely schocked by how I cried and cried by the change of the main characters and most of all by the lesson that was taken from watching this inspirang drama that will remain in my mind for a long time...In fact this drama carries a lot of lessons that can apply to everyone that is watching, since it has a strong empathy, leaving the spectator feeling that he's part of this.
Such lesson could only be done by the amazing Sakurai Sho. He's by far one of the best actors out there. His caracter was extremely hard to play ,but the did it beautifully ugly and cruel, but with a little bit of hope that made us empathize with him right from the start.
The rest of the cast was very well chosen and believable,to the point that it felt REAL, and that's something quite rare.
So,this is by far one of those dramas that will make you actually FEEL and carry the PAIN and JOY of this messed up family, that in the end might have a ..............ending .
If you're reading this and are not sure wether to watch or not, trust me and find out what lies in these space between" a "and" ending".

I Remember You, or Hello Monster, has pretty much been the blockbuster drama of the year for a lot of people who have watched it - some even have it in their top five dramas. However, it was just an average drama for me. I was expecting so much because this drama sounded so interesting, and has a lot of my favourite genres, but it failed to impress me as much as everyone else. It had quite a few loose ends, and it didn't have enough of what it should have. I'm honestly quite disappointed.

Firstly. the story was the main thing wrong with this drama. We were given exactly what the synopsis told us, which is great, but I feel like the series focused too much on Cha Ji An and Lee Hyun's relationship. There were quite a few unnecessary scenes between the two, and if they were taken out, I'm pretty sure the ending would have still been the same. A lot of people may disagree with me on this, but I just think that the writer should have given more scenes with Hyun and Min (Jung Seon Ho). They felt like the more important relationship to focus on, but those scenes were only given from the thirteenth episode onward. It was too lacking. Going back to Ji An and Hyun's relationship, I couldn't actually see the two as a couple. When they got together in the last episode, I didn't fangirl or squeal, or jump up and down in my room. I just sat there, unfazed. I never saw any spark in their connection. It simply looked like a normal friendship. Last thing, the writer didn't explain the ending with Min that well. I know a lot of people were confused as to what his decision was, whether he chose to continue being Hyun's brother and hand himself to the police, or live as someone else with a new identity. That should have been explained a little better.

Despite some of my complaints about I Remember You, the acting and cast in this were absolutely perfect. I cannot express how much I was amazed by the acting in this. I'm going to start with Park Bo Gum (played Jung Seon Ho). I had never really heard of him until I watched this, but I absolutely love him now. His acting was brilliant, and his character was definitely my favourite, especially after the thirteenth episode. And he was so cute when he was smiling because of Hyun, or when he had this fringe down. Next is Seo In Guk as Lee Hyun. He has definitely grabbed my attention with his acting. It was flawless, and I actually fangirlled when he did a cameo in Oh My Ghost. I just love him even more when he is suited up, so hot. Third, Jang Na Ra as Cha Ji An. Although her character was quite annoying, she has been a great influence on this drama - in a good way. She did an amazing job and can't wait to see her again in the future. Lastly, is Choi Won Young as Lee Joon Ho. I have previously noticed him in Kill Me, Heal Me and he did have some hilarious moments in that, but now I have also seen a serious side to him. Won Young can do anything, he's a brilliant actor.

I can definitely remember watching through I Remember You, and paying attention to the music more than the actual story. But now that I have also gone through the soundtrack, I can't pick out a noticeable one that I can recall massively. It seems a little vague, and the only song that I properly like is Remember by Dear Cloud.

To be honest, I can't see myself watching this again. I would watch this again if the time came round, but I didn't enjoy it enough to actually want to rewatch it. The story is the main thing I pay attention to if I want to rewatch it again, and out of everything, that failed the most. So, I will not be watching I Remember You again.

Having the story become pretty much a disappointment and the soundtrack not being all that interesting or noticeable, that brought this drama down. But I know it could have been so much better.

So, I started to watch this because of Lee Junki who's one of my favorite actors. Well, this drama lowered his rating in my eyes. Let me explain why; from start of this drama I felt like I'm rewatching his two previous roles put in together, in other words Lee Junki didn't offer anything new. Well, he was handsome as a vampire, the look actually fits him but I just felt this whole vampire thing was a bit ridiculous. The way vampires were presented, especially the 'you-don't-drink at full moon you die' -rule was just ridiculous. It seemed more like taken off from some werewolf story.

Then the other cast; I didn't like Lee Yu Bi's character Yang Sun. From the first episodes I thought Yang Sun is just too clingy and pretending to be brave but ending up crying her eyes out like every time. Can I say how much I hate heroines like that. I just don't understand what Sung Yeol and Lee Yoon saw in her. No offence to Lee Yu Bi, she's good actor but I just didn't like her character in this drama.

Lee Soo Hyuk. Well there's an eye candy~ I started this drama because of Lee Junki and ended up waiting Lee Soo Hyuk's scenes. I think he makes a perfect vampire badass with his low voice giving you chills even though I still think the whole vampire thing in this drama was presented ridiculously. I was surprised Gwi's one scene in the second last episode, where he's at his cavern. You will know what I mean if you watch this drama. I think that was the best scene in whole drama (darn I can't talk about it because it would spoil the whole fun). But yeah, Gwi's character was great yet somewhat annoying at times.

I think other side cast were quite irrelevant minus Choi family. The writers left too many unexplained things. Like what happened to Lee Yoon's mother? And his father after final episode's happenings? And I totally didn't understand the ending of this whole drama. What was that about?

So I think this was kind of messy with the story. It was a good storyline but telling it was messy and watcher couldn't often follow what was going on. And there was nothing new from Lee Junki so in the end I gave this drama 7.5.

Oh, and OST is nice. I actually downloaded couple songs because I found myself humming them :D They get into your head so beware :P

To be honest I am not a big fan of Taiwan dramas because they have great ideas about plot but most times they mess up the whole drama with dragging and by making the plot more and more complicated which ends up in being boring.

Gladly, this isn't the case here. This drama is sweet and not over dramatic. Some might find the push and pull game boring and think it's dragging too long but there is a reason for that. The cast are good and have chemistry. Maybe the best thing for me in this drama is the lead's smile. It's melting me.

In conclusion, the drama is not bad. It won't be the BEST drama you have even seen but it's sweet and if you have time, give it a try.

This drama almost made me go insane... The blasphemously bad story, incredibly frustrating character decisions and the most horrible OST I've ever heard, combined create a drama that you will never forget... in a bad way. Overall I will give it 5/10, because for some reason I did watch it to the end. :D

PROS:
- The story unfolds mostly in Paris and they do a nice job of visiting all the famous tourist spots.
- This drama makes for a great drinking game. You can't watch it sober and you can take a drink every time you hear the main theme song playing (once every 2 minutes).

CONS:
- The lead male character is a HORRIBLE PERSON. In the end you wish the lead female would run away as far as possible.
- The way the portray a blind person is very, very lazily researched and unrealistic. It makes the drama painful to watch at some points.
- The entire story is based on misunderstandings. Doesn't make for an interesting plot and even worse, they try to keep the story going for a long time using the same misunderstanding again and again.
