There were no chemistry between Hawick and Yan Song. It was like pulling teeth out of her to get some kind of an emotion. She's like a robot. There were only a few scenes that you can see some potential from her. Hawick seemed to have carried the weight of this drama. I like the supporting cast members. The boy was too cute. Loved his awesome curly hair. The designer couple was great. They made the scenes with Yan Song bearable. Not sure what Yan Song's frenemy's role was in here. Was she an nemesis or a friend. I liked how they killed off Hawick's rivalry.
I would not recommend this to anyone. Bad bad bad....unless you wanna see Hawick's handsome face.

These women are bonded together in a way that makes you as a viewer intrigued,it goes beyond simply being connected through Tanaka Tamako as we find out in the first episode. Each woman has her own struggles and pain which is uncovered and healed somewhat through the comfort of their friendship with each other. They are united in their struggle against what I think all women struggle with, the male hierarchy in the world. They fight against this to succeed but its not a fame thing its more humble, they simply want to produce nice food that warms people.
And in the end I began to realise I didn't want this to a romance because that would simply ruin a good show and break such a beautiful friendship between 7 women..
Ken Yasuda's performance for me was just the best.. as well as Yoko Maki,I couldnt stop thinking about her performance afterwards.I cried when she cried and laughed when she laughed. She is a superb actress

It makes you rethink your life and focus in what really matters.
It doesn't matter your age, you can still live your dream and love, a beautiful love like the first sarang.
As expected great story, acting and OST.

Drama Special Season 5: Middle School Student A

Acting/Cast: I'd saw Kwak Dong Yun in another special drama of KBS called "Adolescence Medley", which is similar to this one, he did a good perfomance in both dramas, by the moment this type of character suits him, but I still have to see more of his work, so maybe there's another type of character which already suit him. Lee Yeol Eum made a great acting doing the evil-not-really-bad character, with his looking (I mean in this drama) she was so good!
Music: It could be better, but for being a simply special drama (of school topic) it suits. Maybe if they had done a drama of about 8 episodes it could be better.
Rewatch Value: I might think twice before seeing this special again, but I won't tell I won't see it again someday.
Overall: It's a good school special drama which topic is about bullying. I think they did it quite okay for being only 1 episode. They skiped boring scenes (some dramas have like 2 or 3 episodes which could be better if they don't have them), and make it suitable.
If you like dramas/movies about school's bullying you have to see it. Since it's only 1h you won't feel as it's a waste of time.

The story is full of birth secrets, accidents and dramatic faces but that's what makes melodramas what they are, right? The characters were relatable and even though I hated some characters until the very end, most of them redeemed themselves. The main character is like in most dramas - an optimist who never gives up. The actors did a wonderful job and I have nothing to blame them for.
The OST's were great, I loved how the music expressed the scene's mood very well. I'm thinking of downloading a few of the tracks myself.
Overall, it's a really good drama. A must-watch dare I say. It shows a lot of different values like family, friendship and even that you should live for yourself, not for others. The ending was amazing, there are only few dramas that have such satisfying endings.
P.s. I watched this drama in two days, so DO NOT watch it if you are busy. hehe.

I really liked all the relationships portrayed in the drama. So there are four couples. My favorite one was Mao Mao (Guo Shu Yao) and Dao Yuan (Lego Lee). I really like the reunited love storylines so of course I thought their high school flashbacks were just completely adorable. No, I haven't watched In a Good Way yet because I heard about the open ending and it's set in the 90's so I don't know how great Liu Chuan is so that can't influence my view on this drama. Anyways, I'm probably biased because of Lego but I really liked his character, regardless of the mistakes he made because it was very human. Their chemistry was spectacular, in my opinion. They look compatible and their interactions were so natural on screen. The main couple, Yi Fen and Qi Feng are pretty cute too. I liked the journey they experienced together more than their romance because their romance was kind of bland. The other two couples were cute and definitely added to the overall cuteness of the drama. The confessions, dates, and make-up scenes were all really creative, even for dramaland and I loved that. And as usual, there is a disapproving mother, and supportive parents, so be prepared for that. And did I mention James Wen played a small part here? I was so excited when he showed up because he was phenomenal in the drama, The Fierce Wife and he's just an awesome actor.
Aside from the romance, I loved their sisterhood. The four of them are like sisters and they always support each other and work through fights. I loved their friendship and how it contributed to the drama overall. The journey to reach their dreams did seem more like a side note than the main theme, which is how it's supposed to be. Nevertheless, this drama did portray the struggles of work, and materialistic values very well. It showed me the hardships of going out into society and how different people face those challenges. Yes, some of the follow your dream speeches were very cliche and corny but that's what this drama is about! I think they were appropriate and not overdone at all.
Music was great! Love the OST and I already downloaded them all. There were a few emotional songs that made me teary-eyed in combination with the scene. I especially love Missing You All the Time by Vianz & Shan, which is beautifully sung and I Want You by Dom. T, which is super catchy and a fun beat.
On a side note, one big reason why I fell in love with this drama was because I could identify with Mao Mao. In a way, I saw myself in her and I believe that for many drama viewers out there, being able to identify with a character is a huge aspect in starting to become emotionally attached to a drama. I could relate with her stubbornness and her resilience in always being the emotionally stronger one.
Overall, I already re-watched almost all the Mao Mao+Dao Yuan scenes so the re-watch value is high! I loved this drama and marathoned all of it in a week so I think I would re-watch it sometime in the future. I don't know how great Lego was in In a Good Way yet but I watched this first because I didn't want his performance there to influence me on what could have been a great drama. And Aim High was really a great drama! In the end, I definitely recommend this drama for those drama fans out there that like a lot of romance, like me! (9.75/9.25)

Strangely I really liked the cliche'd story, the nun pretending to be her twin brother to play in a boy band. Haha even that sounds weird. I marathoned the first half of this but then it started to lose it's plot a little and the end was very rushed. I felt a bit dissatisfied coming away from this drama, there's no follow up and I just didn't get the happy ending I wanted.
Cast-wise they were all great, although they looked really young for the age i presume they were playing (18-20) though this could be a cultural difference. This sounds like a minor thing but I just couldn't take them all seriously and I couldn't connect with it very well. Also I had second lead syndrome, Shinwoo (Jung Yong-hwa) and Jeremy seem better characters than the lead, who predictably is an arrogant jerk.
The music was also really good, it really fit the whole drama.
I'd recommend this drama to anyone who wants a sweet funny romance, just be prepared for the loose ends at the ending and the cliches.

The acting was great and so was the music!
I would definitely watch it again because I think there is more to this drama than its simple love story.

1. Choi Jin Hyuk's face.
2. There were some funny moments that were able to make me smile.
What I didn't like about this drama?
1. Overly generic storyline. Everything was predictable, and frankly quite bring. I'm not sure how I even finished it.
There were too many useless flashbacks and other scenes that did not contribute to the storyline or character development. It became rather repetitive.
2. The music was horrible, and a lot of it did not fit.
3. Most of the main characters were annoying, particularly Oh Jin Hee.
4. The resolution was too sudden and there was not much that lead up to it.
Overall, bad writing. Bad everything, actually. I do not recommend this drama, but you may like it if you're into generic love stories that are drama (cough, most Korean dramas).

The acting is superb. The cinematography gorgeous. The script very well written. The musical store thrilling. The story so well told. The beginnings and the times when the young children grow up,seamlessly done.
I can't say enough good things about it.
It will earn a five star rating to be sure!
The star is truly all star!!!
Just watch, even though 50 episodes might sound daunting, the first five you would want to watch in one sitting!
Look up some of the background
history if you are not familiar with Korean history,it will make watching that much more enjoyable.

The plot was so unique! We've all seen rich guy falls for poor girl dramas before, but The Master's Sun takes everything to a new level! It didn't feel at all like other dramas. The pacing throughout the whole show was really good, though towards the end there was definitely a push-pull feeling. But aside from that, the plot and pacing were great! Things were revealed at the perfect time and the mystery aspect of the show made it really interesting.
The acting, of course was phenomenal. I've seen both So Ji Sub and Gong Hyo Jin in several other shows/movies, but seeing them act together was wonderful! They had great chemistry and were a very quirky couple. All of the other actors were great too! I actually think that I liked all of the characters in this show (except for the antagonist that shows up). The side characters were just as entertaining as the main characters! I found that by the end of the show I wanted to see the other characters get a good ending as well as our main leads.
I really liked the soundtrack as well! It was a beautiful combination of instrumental and vocal pieces. I appreciated that the songs weren't over used. I could barely tell when there was background music, because it blended so well into what was happening.
Overall, I really enjoyed The Master's Sun. Though it dragged a little bit after episode 12/13 the show was still great. It was funny, mysterious, creepy, sad, etc. It even made me cry at a point or two! I'm really glad that I finally got around to The Master's Sun and would recommend it to anyone who's looking for something fresh!

I think I know now why Joo Won doesn't mix romance and action in his works. This was a flop and he learned from it. But what I keep lamenting is the bad bad bad waste of potential. The writer, the produce, hell, even the female lead - none of it was up to standard.
It's called 7th Grade Civil Servant for a reason - they all behave like they're in 7th Grade at high school.
The acting was awesome. but the material the actors had to work with was nothing much. I was so disappointed and it hurts me to say this about Joo Won's drama. I like chaebol romances and I like spy investigation stories. I like where there is plenty romance in the investigation stories. But this was a mess. Oh, the potential!!!!!!
I really thought they could have done with Han Pil Hoon what they did with Lee Jae Ha in "King 2 Hearts" - the playboy grows into a man who is able and smart enough to run rings around all the bad guys. He's playful ans sweet, but dangerous. Joo Won also approaches romance like Lee Seung Gi so I could see how 7th Grade could have been great. It falls short and it's bothering me too much.
