Because, the story is typical japanese !
People who like "Ijime" stories will really like it ! I think that women can more enjoy it than men because it's full of stereotypes of woman in Japanese society.
- I gave 7/10 for the story because it's a "Dejà vu". So, nothing new here. But, it's still interesting to keep you in front your screen.
- 8/10 for acting because the actors were really good, especially Takei Emi and Inamori Izumi.
- 8/10 for the music, it was nice.
- 8/10 for Rewatch Value because, in the futur, if I get an occasion I will rewatch it with pleasure :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think that people are too harsh with this drama.
I really enjoyed it !
Give it a chance and try it !
Wallace Chung has good chemistry with Tiffany Tang. Physically, they look great together and Yi Chen (Wallace) demonstrated his anguish for Mo Sheng (Tiffany) very well. Yes, he was dubbed but that's necessary since Wallace's pronunciation in mandarin isn't that good since he speaks Cantonese natively. It's fine though because his dubbed voice is nice and the dubbing is in sync. The story itself is nothing that new but this drama was calm and beautiful. It's an easy watch even with some annoying characters that I fast forwarded through.
The flashbacks were also a main aspect of this drama, they used flashbacks periodically within episodes to slowly unravel the misunderstandings and backstories. Though this drama was slow-moving, the anticipation created within the flashbacks made me want to come back for more episodes; in that respect, this drama was kind of addicting for me. I admit that they did repeat the same flashbacks over and over again in the end but I just fast forwarded it so it wasn't a problem. In the flashbacks, the director used different actors for young Yi Chen and Mo Sheng. Props to the young actors, they channeled Yi Chen's and Mo Sheng's spirits very well. Young Yi Chen even kinds of looks like Wallace and young Mo Sheng was so cute and bubbly.
I liked how their love never wavered for one another throughout the whole drama, and that the antagonists couldn't tear them apart. There were tons of misunderstandings in the beginning, but it didn't take that long, and once they were resolved their relationship was wonderful to watch. I really liked Yuan Feng and Xiao Xiao (Viola Mi) here. They were both hilarious and had such character depth; they felt like real people.
The music was lovely. It complemented all the tranquil and emotionally anguished scenes. Wallace's real voice in one of the songs was also really good.
Re-watch? Maybe, maybe not. I recommend it to people who don't want to watch a crazy plot, and just want to watch a beautiful romantic drama. (9/8)
Plot wise, I absolutely love it. It tackles real life issues that need to be addressed. I love the sweet romance between the two leads too and the bromance and friendship between the cast members. This drama really has a lot of heart and is hilarious yet touching all at the same time.
It's sad that it only has 12 episode though... I really wanted more of this drama :( but the pace and tone is perfect 10/10
Story:
Typical josei romance plot (you'll appreciate this if you're a manga reader). Boy meets girl, the guy fell in love with her, then he pursues the girl. Actually the plot is just ordinary, except for a unique twist that the guy is a monk. The comedic dialogues are present which are good, and I guess that what makes this charming (for me anyway). But what I really liked about the story is honestly the guy's character. His personality is really charming in an enchanting way. I don't know but I developed a deep affection to the main lead not only because of his physical appearance but his character development as well. The girl is our typical josei woman (if you read josei manga, then you know what I mean).
Acting/Casting:
Such handsome and pretty people, I must admit. XD Well, I liked how the actors and actresses (esp the main leads) portrayed their respective roles. I haven't read the manga yet so I can't really say if they had portrayed it well but I can assure you they are really good. Good enough to make my emotions sway every damn episode easily. Ugh, I just so love them all.
Music:
BACK NUMBER IS THE BEST! XD YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO IT. YOU'LL DEFINITELY LOVE IT. HAHA Even though I look like I'm promoting, the OST "back number" really suits this show well. I fell in love with this song first before I fell in love with the show, so if you're still skeptical 'bout watching this, then I advise you to at least try listening to the OST. It made me appreciate the show more, maybe it could persuade you as well.
Overall:
I rated this 10/10 in MDL (personal taste hehe) but I'll go now with 9/10. It's really a good one. I rarely get feels when watching Japanese drama but I must say this is an exception. Maybe because I watched this during Christmas eve and Christmas day. HAHA Welp, I don't really know. But I really like the roller coaster of emotions this drama awakened in me. It made me realize that falling in love is not an easy thing. Again. It brings you pain, suffering, tears, frustrations (lololol hint: lots of drama at the end so beware) but as well as happiness, smiles, laughter, and hope. But at the end of the day, you'll still choose to fall in love despite of the pain it will bring in your heart. Because as they say, love can keep the sadness at bay. It will cure a painfully broken heart as well as warming a cold frozen heart buried with time.
Have a happy holidays. :)
Story
Han Saet Byul diculik pada saat siaran langsung program ibunya, Kim Soo Hyun. Ki Dong Ho, tersangka pembunuhan berantai Moojin akan menjalani hukuman mati, dan membuat adiknya Ki Dong Chan merasa bersalah. Tapi, Tuhan memberikan Kim Soo Hyun dan Ki Dong Chan hadiah. Mereka dikembalikan pada dua minggu (atau 14 hari) sebelum kejadian. Soo Hyun harus menyelamatkan putrinya dan Dong Chan harus membuktikan kalau kakaknya tidak bersalah.
Cerita yang membuat kita harus jeli dengan bukti-bukti yang ada. Kita dibawa menelusuri kasus pembunuhan berantai Gangnam yang pada akhirnya terkuak bahwa itulah awal mulanya, dan bagaimana ternyata pembunuhan di Gangnam dan Moojin memiliki hubungan. Walau begitu pertengahan hingga akhir pada episode ke 16 benar-benar ngebuat aku pengin jambakin rambut saking kesalnya sama 'pelaku' di balik itu semua. Dan, ah sial, akhir cerita drama ini adalah open ending. Jadi, nggak jelas tuh bagaimana nasib Ki Dong Chan
Acting/Cast
Ini bukan pertama kalinya aku menonton drama Lee Bo Young, dan akting ahjumma itu emang patut diacungin jempol. Tapi untuk Jo Seung Woo ini baru pertama kalinya aku melihat aksi dia, terlebih Jo Seung Woo lebih sering membintangi film daripada drama. Yang jadi Han Saet Byul a.k.a Kim Yoo Bin pun juga membuatku terkesima. Gimana enggak? Dia itu masih kecil, tapi akting nangisnya jago banget. Lucu menggemaskan lagi kalau lagi genit sama Dong Chan ajjushi.
Do Joon blew me away here. I actually want to see him as a chaebol/king in any drama because he did a great job of it here. What I loved about this drama was that they stayed true to history and yet played with it in every way. I might not know a lot about Korean history but I know that they at least managed to not distort facts through this drama.
The two episodes go by really quickly and the romance is so worth watching! It will give you flutters and leave you with a warm feeling. Managing that in just 2 episodes is commendable and I wanted more. :D
This drama is enjoyable every single minute and it's amazing how they managed all Kdrama sageuk cliches within these two episodes. Plus the kisses are great too! Give this drama a go, you won't regret it. :D
It has a good balance of mystery, humor, romance, and other themes common to these kinds of dramas. It's great for people who like detective shows, but without it being too dark or too serious. "The Memorandum of Kyoko Okitegami" is a quick, but endlessly amusing watch. Simple, but sweet.
I thought the acting was very good, and basically all of the characters are very lovable, each in their own ways. Admittedly, Kyoko and Yakusuke's chemistry is kind of average, they still make the romance aspect of this drama enjoyable to watch. Okada Masaki does an especially great job at conveying Yakusuke's obvious infatuation with Kyoko in the most endearing way.
Honestly, my only complaint is regarding the ending. It wasn't bad per se, just.. lackluster. It felt rushed, IMO. The last bit was nice enough, but everything leading up to it just left me feeling kind of disappointed.
When I sat down to write this review I was full of gobbledygook. I feel like I could write a thesis on the beauty and wonder that is Healer. Once again, my expectations of the standard of Kdrama has just completely been blown up to another level. Can I just get married to this drama and be done with it?
This drama is both intensely sad and intensely funny. You've got to love that rollercoaster of emotions.
Watching this made my heart so so so melty. There are some badass characters in this drama and the way they kindly and gently treat their loved ones made such a big impact on me. There are some really lovely people in this drama who have such big hearts, gosh, the feels!
But let's not forget about the action. I loved loved loved all the smarts that went into the plot and the twists and the deceptions. I always enjoy a drama where the characters are constantly one upping each other. The fight scenes were also really great. I liked that they were practical, and not so showy like some fight scenes I've seen in dramaland *cough City Hunter *cough.
I do feel that it is my public duty to note that there are some plot issues that really don't make any sense. What drama doesn't have them?
On to the characters:
Young Shin - heroine
I feel like I understood Young Shin really well. Her thought processes, actions and decisions all made sense to me.
At first she seems ordinary but then we find out she grew up in a house of ex-cons and has a lot of tricks up her sleeves.
Young Shin is brassy and unapologetic. I like that no one is stepping on her. She's too busy bullying everyone around her. She's very confrontational. She's definitely a wild card and quirky odd but in a good way. I loved how she's always dancing.
As the hero points out, she is brave and she has coping strategies to help her get on with life.
I like that she doesn't have a best friend.
Acting: I first saw Park Min Young in City Hunter. I really loved that her personality is so different in this drama that straight away, I didn't associate her with Kim Na Na.
Jung Hoo
Let me tell you this. Jung Hoo is a guy who knows how to do arrogance right. He pulls it off so perfectly. He doesn't have to be rude, but his condescension just hits it right on the money every time. And he absolutely doesn't use it on the heroine. For. The. Win. This guy is damn good. I was bouncing around with excitement over all his moves. He is very calm and he completely lit up the screen every time. He is amazing and captivating and I'm so in love.
Jung Hoo - “living life was just whatever. Since I was born, I might as well live.”
He reckons he wants to live alone for the rest of his life.
I like his longsuffering exasperation when he has to make contact with people.
And similar to Ju Ji Hoon I like the lazy way he speaks. And he whispers! Be still my beating heart. =P
Jung Hoo would make a great Clark Kent because he totally owns the switch between badass Healer and bashful Bong Soo. I love the way his whole body language and facial expressions change when he's being Bong Soo. He completely owns his dorkish character and it's hard to tell if he's just being Bong Soo or if he really is that awkward because he doesn't hang around people much.
Jung Hoo is the first guy that I've seen who is not a neat freak. He's as sloppy as a girl.
He also has the cutest laugh. The funny thing is that his serious face is so darn sombre and then he smiles and he looks like a little kid.
Romance
Serious adorbs. Serious. Adorbs. It is honestly to die for. Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young just sizzled with their interactions. It is seriously that good. The chemistry...the CHEMISTRY.
I'm finding that I really enjoy the star-crossed lovers premise in Korean dramas.
So...it starts off with Jung Hoo stalking Young Shin for a job that he's working on. As he spies on her, he is very contemptuous.
But it doesn't last long.
I like that for both of them, they are individuals. They have a lot going on, and sometimes their relationship takes the backseat.
Jung Hoo is another hero who has the most kindest and softest eyes when he's looking at his lady love.
I also like that while he acts appropriately intimidated by her father, he still is man enough to kiss her regardless.
Moon Ho
This guy is full of surprises. I liked all his acting except when he was angry. His angry face seemed over the top. His relationship with Jung Hoo is pretty epic. Bros bros bros.
“How come you never lose to me even once?”
Also, I loved how dedicated Moon Ho was to the “kids”. He, himself, has moments of that childlike quality that is so endearing.
Moon Shik
I really liked the way the drama showed how Moon Shik was haunted by what he did in the past.
Chi Soo
Chi Soo is Young Shin's adoptive father. He's hilariously protective of Young Shin and suspicious of Jung Hoo.
The story of how he Chi Soo adopted Young Shin and how hard he worked to earn her trust is so touching.
Chi Soo has some great scenes with Jung Hoo as well. Their father-boyfriend meet and greet is the best ever.
Also, Chi Soo doesn't get the complete package deal of submissiveness from Jung Hoo and I like that. I think both know their boundaries and both put on a show to fulfill their expected roles. It makes for an interesting dynamic.
Min Joo
“Wait. You, a guy who wouldn't fall if someone threw you, fell on your own?”
Dae Yong
“He wouldn't answer even if I asked and even if he answered I wouldn't know.”
She's a spunky kid and I was really impressed with how brave she was in her care for Jung Hoo.
This drama is a love story mixed with a bit of crime investigation. There were some pretty rough scenes. But this drama was unique and the acting was really good! The actors were so convincing in their roles. It was really different from the standard love story dramas.
Overall, I had a great time watching this drama.
The cast wasn't bad, but not good either. One of the main characters (Seo Jin) didn't appeal to me at all in the beginning (looks, acting, character). I found him dull. It was the opposite for the other main character (Ha Na). I was looking forward to watching her more. As the episodes went on the roles were reversed. Ha Na became a character with no personality whatsoever. She just seemed to stand there in most parts with no emotions and no thoughts, while Seo Jin was full of... life.
I am one of those people who actually never liked Robin. Seo Jin should have had more moments with Ha Na. Robin and he, to me were the same person and I was looking forward to seeing the moment Seo Jin would get himself under complete control. That's why I have the opinion that the series should have ended right when the mystery of Dr. Kang's disappearance was resolved.
Still I enjoyed it and would watch more of Hyun Bin's dramas, hoping that they'll be better.
I never skip scenes, and after watching the whole drama let me tell you: starting from the middle, feel free to skip. This being said, I love the beautiful love story.
The leads (and the rest) lack in the personality department, even though the chemistry is there.
The OST is beautiful, classical music and a lot of piano, but the lack of action in the drama, makes it a constant battle against sleep.
Love challenged with a never-ending train of formidable obsticles.
