I just do not understand why this drama isn't rated higher. Pride and Prejudice is a really good drama, i don't get why there were so many complaints about it when it originally aired. I remember everyone going on and on about how the ending was so terrible and how it ruined the drama, but tht isn't the case at all.First of all, let me just state tht if I understood Korean fluently, I definitely would have rated this drama much higher. It's intriguing and captivating, but it is definitely not an easy watch. It's rather complicated if I do say so myself. Even with subtitles, it's hard to follow what's going on if ur not paying attention. It requires extreme attention to detail, because points tht the drama makes in earlier episodes come back later. Also, this is not a marathon type of drama. Yeah, ur gonna wanna know what happens nxt, but the episodes are rather long and heavy with details tht u need to give urself time to ingest it. I honestly believe tht after a couple of viewings, I'd rate this drama higher, but this drama is 21 eps long and each episode is about an hour. Each episode is like a movie, there was not a single filler episode.
Now on to the actual story. Han Yeol Moo is a trainee prosecutor who started to work for the Civil Service Team. She became a prosecutor so she could catch the person who murdered her younger brother. There, romantic feelings are rekindled with Koo Dong Chi. Together they investigate the cold case of her younger brother's murder, and find out tht it's actually quite complicated. The characters are great, I didn't hate a single one. They're interactions with one another are so much fun to watch, my favorite probably being the Chief Moon Hee Man. This is a serious drama, with lots of serious themes and detective work going on, but there are genuinely funny moments as well. And the romantic moments are actually really cute and sweet. But if you're looking for a romance drama, this is not it.
I can't really say much about Pride and Prejudice without providing major spoilers, so I'll just leave u all with this. This drama has absolutely nothing to do with Jane Austen or her novel. If you're looking for a mindless watch, this is not it. The drama is complicated, complex even, but it's really good all the same. The best advice I could give anyone when watching this is to space out the episodes, and pay attention to everything. Every tiny detail is important. Try ur best to remember names as well (write them down if u have to). I really don't think this drama's for everyone. But it's not because it's bad. It's because of the genre I think. If u don't mind a long drama with long episodes, and u enjoy dramas where ur required to think and serious themes are explored, then i'd say give it a shot. And if u have the time of course. This is not one of those dramas where u'd skip everything for.
I liked this drama. I enjoyed the story, loved the characters, and the interactions we're some of the best i've ever seen. The ending isn't disappointing either. It ends in a kind of ambiguous way, but not really. I wasn't disappointed. Could it have been better? Probably, but it's really not so terrible. This drama proves to me tht u can't just take ppl's word for things. You have to watch for urself and come up with ur own conclusions.
Also, if u love those type of dramas where u can't tell who the bad guy is, this is it! I don't know about anyone else, but it makes it really fun for me!

The pros of this drama is that the premise is unique and Pets Tseng is a great actress-loved her martial arts scenes. Her crying scenes were also really well-done. Sam Lin is handsome but his acting skills definitely need some polishing. Sometimes during the scenes where he is supposed to be sad and crying, I feel like he is holding back a smile. I usually never get second male lead syndrome but by episode 25 I was rooting for Che (Evan Ma) even though I knew he wouldn't get Xiao Xi. I don't know.. at first I really liked Liu Bing (Sam Lin) but in the end, I just wanted Che and Xiao Xi to get together.
The revenge scheme in Moon River is intense and I don't know if I liked it because it wasn't fitting to the overall tone of the drama. Half the drama had a hilarious and fluffy tone and then sudden left turn into angst and revenge. In short, it made sense plot-wise to lead to the revenge part, but in terms of tone-wise, it was a huge shift. Personally, I didn't like that but that differs for each person. In terms of the other characters, you have your usual array of vindictive antagonists, pining second leads, and comedic relief. I have to point out Lucy; she didn't have a lot of scenes but she was so adorable and a honorable mention to Rei Xi- he was funny.
Music was good-fitting for the scenes and not overplayed. Great OST overall.
I don't think I would re-watch this. However, I would recommend this if you like school romances, revenge schemes, a strong female lead. I don't regret watching this, it's just I'm disappointed with the way the last 10 episodes or so played out since the beginning of this drama was just so darn entertaining. (8/8)

The acting was not superb as there were a lot of stone face, and Michelle's crying seemed very fake to me. I did not feel any love chemistry between the main love triangle. The story is very long and draggy but it is because there are several subplots and politics. I feel like the whole political idea in the story was very fake because there were so many officials who were able to oppress the royal family and there was no regard for any of them which I felt was not convincing.
I felt like the plot could have been more solid because it was very confusing throughout the story. I thought I would like this, but I couldn't this time. Good luck future viewers...

What the drama starts out as what it is by the end vary vastly. While we do get clues about what the important parts of the story are, we never get a clear focus on what exactly we have to look out for. While I may blame the writing but I also have to praise it for not making it stick on to a single track and boring the hell out of me.
The story of the leads is compelling and you will find yourself rooting for them throughout the show. Their relationship goes beyond romance and it's like how they mean a lot to each other and without either of them their life is incomplete. They will make you cry and laugh. The main lead's jealousy over the female lead was cute. There are some frustrating parts to the story also like implied incest, illnesses, secrets, manipulative second leads and scheming mothers. While the comedy and romance is present in the beginning, the middle was frustrating as hell. Towards the end the writer tried to resolve much of the issues and did so more or less satisfyingly.
The strength of the drama and the reason I stayed glued on were Lee Dong Wook and Jung Ryeo Won. I thought they made a cute pair and their interactions were really interesting. I was also excited for Lee Jong Hyuk to be playing the rival love interest but his character hardly served any purpose. It was a pity because he is otherwise such a talented actor. The female second lead was also very underwhelming and I did not care for her at all. For me, most of the secondary characters in this drama failed to make an impact and the real reason to sit through 16 hours was purely the leads.
The OST of the drama is fantastic and has been on my playlist as and when the songs kept coming out. It really fits the indie mood the drama tries to portray and blends well with the situation. In fact, the soundtrack is one of the strengths of the drama.
While I think it was nice to watch it once, the story isn't quite unforgettable to make me rewatch the entire thing. I however loved the kissing scenes and the leads' scenes which I may check out on Youtube later.
Watch this drama for something different and fresh but don't expect too much out of it and be prepared to shed tears.

I had been craving some Yamapi and I haven't seen him in anything romantic since Buzzer Beat. All the glowing comments and the main couple were enough to convince me to watch this drama. While I have not read the manga, I still liked the story. It was cute and refreshing. I went in to watching it without realizing that Yamapi plays a monk here (yes, really!) and it turned out to be hilarious. Although he would have been hotter in Western clothes, traditional suited him nonetheless. Plus, he had enough of shirtless scenes to keep me satisfied.
I loved the cast. They were all good-looking and easily likable. The best part of the drama were its multiple love stories instead of focusing too much on who the main girl would end up with. There wasn't a single couple I disliked and I liked all permutations and combinations of all characters with each other. Lol. However, the highlight of this drama for me was the love story between Arthur and Momoe. I just could not get enough of them and Arthur was pure pleasure to watch. The actor impressed me immensely and I might check out more of his works. Plus, he spoke really good English!
I expected the drama to not drag at all, but it did and became repetitive towards the end. The will-they-wont-they drew out too much even though the answer was obvious by midway. But, the characters in the family and at ELA never became dull. The temple characters (especially granny, you stupid woman) weren't my favorite except the little kid who killed me with cuteness. <3
The music was okay and nothing fantastic. The strength of the drama lies in the cast who did a wonderful job and an interesting part was the amount of English spoken in the drama. The cast did seemed to have worked hard on their English speaking and I guess it must have been hard for them to memorize so many lines. So kudos to that.
The ending was cheesy and the main love line annoyed me a bit towards the end. However, it was good entertainment throughout and I enjoyed watching the drama. However, it is not really worth a rewatch apart from Arthur-Momoe scenes (BL!!!!).

A lot of people seem to complain about this drama and I can see why. The acting is pretty average, not awful at all but not that great either: just good enough to get across the general emotions. (Though this changes for each actor! In particular I loved Sung ChangMin's acting. When he cried he literally cried: red swollen eyes and all! The main villain is pretty badass too). While the story is...more interesting than usual, but more in the way of a rollercoaster: some bits were very predictable, while other bits had me sat on the edge of my seat in anticipation. I think with some tweaks here and there I would've given this drama a 9/10 instead of a 7.5/10. The general story has great potential, and though I personally wasn't pleased with the 'end of the ending' (for reasons I can't say due to spoilers!) a lot of people were.
So...don't treat it too harshly and you'll be in for a good watch.
I have no regrets at all about starting this drama. In fact, it was this drama which broke my vampire-drama-ickiness! (I don't know why, but I usually find them really...'cringey'.) It isn't the best drama out there but it is certainly worth your time! I know I've definitely got a special place for it in my memory.
Thank you, 'Scholar Who Walks the Night', for breaking my vampire drama prejudice!

I have seen many historical dramas, but I have to admit this one tops them all.
It is very well made and high quality, the plot is very strategic but believable
and the suspense is intense since you watch one ongoing plot all the time (there
is just a straight cut at the ending of each episodes, kind of when you just turn
off your movie in the middle of it).
The martial arts are great and (for Chinese standards) not so much over the top.
The actors are insanely good.
If I had anything to critisize, then it would be that I hoped for an itsy bitsy more romance
going on (just a tiny bit, too much would have destroyed the mood of this drama), at least
at the end.
And the ending itself could have been shown more. It is a final ending, you know what
happens, but still, I would have hoped to see it actually happening (but this is just my preference).
This drama is in its own league when it comes to historical dramas and you would be insane
to miss it if you like this genre.

The story was great...at first. However, after it changed to a sageuk drama I dropped the drama. That was, when it aired. Now, a few days ago I wanted to watch a drama with less than 16 episodes, so I decided to end this drama. I skipped most of the historical scenes, because in my opinion it was too much. I mean, why did they go back to a long time ago? I didn't understand it. Well, maybe I didn't wanted to know it.
Honestly, the one and only reason I watched this after months until the end was Yeo Jingoo. I watched him in Warrior Baek Dongsoo, where he played the younger version of Dongsoo (later played by Ji Changwook). In that drama I loved his acting, so I wanted to watch this drama. He was the best Actor in this whole drama (in my opinion). But sadly he couldn't save it.
Seolhyun...She is a good dancer, but her acting is...not good (I could say awful, but I think it is too harsh). Normally, I don't expect much from Idols when it comes to acting, but I thought she would be better than Hyeri (In my opinion Hyeri is a better actress, after I watched her in Replay 1988). All in all I was not satisfied with her acting. In the end I shipped Jaemin with Ahra. Lee Jonghyun of CNBlue was okay, i think he has potential, although I liked him in Gentlemen's Dignity better. Gil Eunhye was better than Seolhyun, but she could have be better, too.
The music was good. It suits the theme and the storyline, but in my opionion it wasn't special v.v
Lastly, I haven't the desire to watch it again. If I would do it, I would watch the modern scenes with Yeo Jingoo, but no more v.v
However, I would recommend it unless you a big fan of one of the main actors.

If you like vampires in the sense of brutality and also on the side of romance, this drama is for you. Do not expect to see a whole lot of some actors and expect a second lead syndrome if you are a LSH fan. I walked into this as LSH fan, and came out a LGG fan! I highly suggest looking into the Manwha before watching this, it may tell a lot about the story, characters and show uncanny resemblances to the actors they chose to portray this awesome story.
I am glad I didnt watch it when it was airing. If I had, I think I might have thought it draggy in some places. Considering I binged it in a matter of a couple of days, it was much easier for me to enjoy the story without worrying too much about it dragging.
Please give this drama a chance. It is very underrated for 2015!

This drama is for melodrama lovers, it was a decent melodrama (though it doesn't say melo on the genre) but it's pretty melo makjang drama. I was looking for something similar to King Of Baking Kim Tak Goo with the same vibes and checked this drama's 1st ep then decided to watch even without subs and I'm glad I did (I'm surprised that it doesn't have any review even though there are people who completed this which is why I decided to do one).
Story: is pretty much familiar to all of you melo fans, family issues, abandoned, greed, selfishness, evil, ridiculous nerve racking plot but addictive one so basically all the elements a melo fan would look for in a drama. This is a Daughter on Mother story, I'm not sure if there are other dramas that presented such story before but for myself this is the 1st I've seen (daughter taking revenge on her mother). I loved the early stages of the story with the kids and to my surprise I liked the adults as well specially Cha Yeong.
If you came here for the romance then this drama is not for you, because even though it says romance, it's not the kind of romance that most may expect. This is mostly evil and revenge and wrong doings, the main character goes through so many things that she becomes only blinded by revenge. Romance plays very small part of the story (which is plus point to me) because it does not follow the typical plots and the story was presented without distraction.
Another note to those who hate annoying 2nd lead girl and can't handle that, I guess this drama is not for you because the 2nd lead here is pretty much as evil and pain as it gets but that's what makes melo a melo and keeps me entertained.
I loved the intensity of the story, I loved the intensity in the mother daughter relationship. I liked all the craziness and nerve racking situations in this drama and most of all I loved Hong Ah Reum performance.
Acting: For the rest of the cast it was decent, but for Hong Ah Reum and Yun Seo I think they were the drama's strongest point because they delivered all that intensity very well (I must say Yun Seo managed to make me hate her and Hong Ah Reum is meant for melo).
Music:
Decent.
Rewatch:
Maybe to some of you but not for me.
Overall:
Looking for good melodrama? Watch it. I can see that even if this drama gets subbed it probably be forgotten because of the unknown cast, I hope you don't judge the book by it's cover.

QUESTION: WHY IS THE OVERALL RATING OF THIS 7.7???
I almost skipped over this gem but then I saw a glimpse of it on the MBC channel and I was like 'omg I gotta watch this drama'. This drama is criminally underrated!! How can a drama like this get a rating of 7.7? How unbelievable... Anyways done with my ranting...Story: This story is great honestly, the first few episodes were a bit draggy and boring (I was pretty much clueless) but as you go along you'll catch on! There were no plot holes and I couldn't stop watching bc I was hooked and always felt if I stopped, I would miss a part and wonder about it for the rest of the day. It wasn't very predictable at all! I see a lot of ppl complaining about the ending lol but honestly.. it was necessary. That teaches us a lesson to NOT BE STUBBORN and make the right decisions! Yes, it was sad, but it wasn't one of those typical irrelevant endings that kdramas like to feed to us. YES, the author could have altered the ending but the ending is already justified.
Acting: Okay firstly, Jaejoong-- He is so underrated-- like I've always been like 'oh jaejoong.. the one with a pretty face.. lol he prob can't act' BUT boy was I wrong. He can sing, dance, act... what can't he do?? Baek Jin Hee was very good but I thought her acting was a little weird at times? (like when she's talking it looks a bit TOO enthusiastic if you know what I mean). Im si wan is such a good actor too!! He isn't just a pretty face too guys.. He's excellent at acting wow.
Music: JAEJOONG AND AILEE SANG SUCH GOOD SONGS.
Rewatch Value: I just finished it so I probably won't rewatch it until a few months later..
Overall: I highly recommend! It is one of the best dramas out there.. of course, so underrated.

This drama had so much potential but it failed.
Honestly.. I don't know what to say about this drama.. it disappointed me big time. The whole entire drama leads to such an anticlimactic ending.. imo this drama had so much potential but it failed. I actually watched this drama because I had just finish triangle and fell for Jaejoong's acting.Story: The drama was SO INCREDIBLY slow and draggy for 8 episodes and the 'rising action' didn't cut it for me.. Some events/scenes were so unnecessary and it just didn't flow. The last 8 episodes got faster and the last few (14-16) were SO RUSHED and skipped so many scenes! And the ending.... REALLY? Overall, no! This drama doesn't cut it for me. It just didn't flow and the 'main problem' could have been made interesting but they made it too predictable. This drama never even had a chance to redeem itself.
Acting/Cast: THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS DRAMA WAS THE CAST. The mother, Young Seo, Yoon Jin, father, Sun Woo-- basically everyone was good and convincing. Excellent cast! But unfortunately the plot and writing wasted their talents. However, I could see their amazing acting (the only thing that kept me trying to finish it)
Music: Meh. it was whatever.
Rewatch Value: Nah. Unless I miss Jaejoong acting as a spy lol
Overall: I don't think it's 'trash' but if you're wanting a drama like triangle don't watch it bc your hopes will be ruined lol. I guess it was nice to watch Jaejoong as a spy? Fanservice?? Overall, no. This flopped; huge pass.
