Story
The story is a good and unique idea, stemming from the fact that KDrama's are in a league of their own when it comes to cliche's and overplayed scenarios. It is an interesting story that isn't meant to be taken too seriously so don't expect to be sat at the edge of your seat thinking 'oh sh*t whats going to happen next' because if you know drama....you're supposed to know what is going to happen, which I find is the fun part of it, as the writers aren't trying to trick you with crazy spins/ major cliff hangers. Another great thing is that episodes aren't long, which is refreshing.
Acting/Cast
Well....well.....well lol, the acting wasn't great but meh, I kind of don't think it was supposed to be or we would have seen some big name actors playing this....oooo could you imagine Jo In Sung playing Joon Park (drool). It is a parody so obviously the actors in dramaworld would be expected to be worse than usual to probably highlight the fact that they are acting.
Music
I didn't expect an amazing OST (if you've read some of my reviews you know how I love a good OST) because this isn't that kind of drama. What I did like was the comedic use of the music that us viewers know to well. The BGM when something bad is about to happen, or when you have a blast of music at the end of the episode lol, Claire noticing it made me laugh, because I always have to turn my TV down when it gets to the end of an episode lol.
Overall
I think everyone should watch this just because it is funny, light-hearted and shouldn't be taken too seriously. It is mean't I think to highlight the fact that everybody watches KDramas and they are popular all over the world. If you've never watched a KDrama you may find this drama stupid so maybe watch a few first then come back to this so you understand the comedic effect. But yeah, definitely enjoyed it. Won't rewatch it...nope definitely not something you'd rewatch...doesn't make sense to, but I'm glad I watched it.

So Ji Sub and Shin Min Ah chemistry bonded this drama from first to last episode! I believe if the chemistry between the actors was not there, the drama would be just OK. The plot is ordinary, without major ups and downs, but what made it all work for me was the Chemistry in this drama. So Ji Sub - no matter what role he plays, he not only fits it perfect, but totally grows on you! As an actor he is great and his personality fits the script perfectly. He is like a magnet that you can't demagnetize :) I loved him in Master's Sun and this is another drama that he has a great job performing in!
So Ji Sub and Ji Sung are my top actors right now that I would watch Kdramas as soon as they air!
Watch and and you won't regret it on a gloomy day, because it will give you a "giggle" effect :)

SPOILERS ALERT. Please do not continue reading if you don't want to know the story line.Synopsis:
Jie You (Zhang Xin Yi) is a young, lively and enthusiastic girl who traveled with her group of friends and her teacher as a performance group. Jie You was an orphan and was picked up by her teacher. When she was picked up, she had a piece of jade around her neck. During their travels in the desert, she sets off on her own to look for water sources and meets Weng Gui (Yuan Hong) who was fighting with xiong nu soldiers.
The second time they meet was when she was performing a magic trick and Weng Gui was hiding from the xiong nu soldiers in her performance box. He had been badly injured and Jie You chose to let him stick with them. After she had treated him, Weng Gui lied that he was just a merchant from WuSun. After a series of events, they got closer and together they tried to help Jie You find out about her parents. Weng Gui however was actually on a mission to visit the Han Emperor to raise a marriage between the Han and WuSun for the sake of alliance. He left his dagger with Jie You and told her that no matter where she went, he would find her as long as she kept the dagger close to her. By then they had fallen deeply in love with one another.
However, Jie You discovers that she is actually related to the imperial family. In a twist of fate, she ends up being chosen as the he qin gong zhu of Han and will thus marry the king of Wu Sun, who also happens to be Weng Gui's brother. Throughout the show, many times Jie You has to choose between being the princess of Han to doing what is right for the citizens of WuSun, against her will to be with the love of her life, Weng Gui. Because Jie You helps Kun Mi (King of WuSun) share the burden of managing the country, Kun Mi gradually falls for Jie You.
During her stay in WuSun, Jie You faces many obstacles put infront of her by the princess of Xiong Nu, Hu Gu, out of jealousy for Kun Mi's liking. Jie You sacrifices being with the person she loves for the people of Han and WuSun while Weng Gui sacrifices everything for her, always coming to her rescue when she is in trouble. The plot develops along the lines of 2 people deeply in love who are so close yet so far, and the sacrifices they make for each other.
Acting:
The casts are extremely good as the chemistry between Zhang Xin Yi and Yuan Hong is out of this world! And yes they are dating in real life after acting together in this drama. In this show Yuan Hong is able to pull of the character as one who is a child at heart but becomes a mature man when it comes to the woman he loves. Zhang Xin Yi also portrays the character of Jie You extremely well, being able to show that Jie You is weak at times but able to put up a strong front when it is needed of her. The scenes in which she struggles to make decisions are always well put up, reflecting her psychological torment.
Music:
I love the opening theme song and can't stop listening to it.
Overall:
I would totally watch this drama again. I somehow feel that the romance scenes had a lot of potential to be improved because of the story line. A lot of romance scenes which I saw in the trailers of this show did not seem to have made it to the actual 45 episodes of the show. I hope that there is actually a 46 episode version that includes those scenes. Strongly recommend this drama as I think it is underrated.

The show's music is great and I will never get sick of listening to the sound tracks. They really make the whole drama a lot more emotional and epic.
Lastly, I recommend this drama to those who like dramas like Lan Ling Wang and Tian Wai Fei Xian. And to those who like this drama, I recommend watching Princess Jie You! Its great too!

At first, i just get curious watching this drama because the review is not really bad, some even said that this is really good. This is not the typical plot that i get interested to; the kind of CEO falling in love with the poor girl, or rich man poor girl themed--you say it.((MAYBE)) contain spoiler
The plot.
Like i said this drama plot actually really cliche, where the CEO slowly falling in love with the not-so rich girl, BUT what i like the most about this drama plot is there's no extremely evil ex-girlfriend or mother in law or so. Another point is i really love this drama because the plot really showing the progress between the main lead, how they become a couple and overcome the troubles. Also, i think the troubles they face is kind of relate-able in some cases like the office gossip and so. Some people maybe said that the plot is too draggy, but i think this is just fine, and i really enjoying how it goes till the end
The character.
Okay, i'm going to say a lot about this. the character actually really similar to any other this richman poor girl themed drama. The main girl is pure-innocent kind girl who loves to help others and sympathetic, the main guy is cold, dominant, hard-outside-soft-inside kind of guy, and also little bit too quiet. Sometimes it's frustrating because this personality they can not communicate well, thinking maybe too scared to hurt each other, and the girl sometimes tooo innocent that it brings up my anger. The antagonist in this drama isn't like any other korean drama (that i often watch) like extremely cruel mother in law or so.
The music.
Honestly i'm not an music expert and not paying lot of attention to their music but i think it's pretty okay. but i haven't got really interest with their ost so i could say is the music is decent,
Extra point.
i noticed that (i think) they didn't really put much effort into clothes like the main lead often wears the same thing over and over in same style. I mean, if its mixed and match its acceptable. but same style and same clothes? i think they can put much effort from that Also some little details are missed since i am details freak lol. but afterall this little things aren't important.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
i think if you looking for entertainment drama, not so serious plot and problems this is really good for you. At first i didn't have any expectation that i would enjoy this kind of drama, since i watched this because lately there's no good drama or i think worth to watch (SIGNAL IS TOOOO GOOD) this is your kind of cliche drama but at some point really makes you curious how they developed every episode.
This is, literally, drama that i don't expect to enjoy. and might be underestimating this drama too much.
AM I GONNA WATCH IT AGAIN?
Might be. At some point i dont really like the cliche plot, but another point i slightly shipping this pair and liking the progress.
SORRY FOR THE LONG POST LOL ;~;

1. The characters were very wooden and one-dimensional. The acting wasn't very good--I honestly was cringing a lot of the time. I'm a person that loves to be swept away in a drama and feel EVERYTHING that our characters are feeling, but it was impossible with this drama. Perhaps because it is borderline parody and they're trying to wink to the audience quite a bit (the sole component I liked). But these characters never really came together to the point where you believed the emotions they were feeling, which was kinda disappointing.
2. Our main male lead was....awkward. I mean obviously he's supposed to be this super-character. He's the LEADING MAN and they try to portray him in that way. But his shifts between Korean/English were off-putting and just how he interacted with Claire....he was where most of the cringing took place. His lines were just not delivered very well.
3. The writing. Some of the lines they had these characters say....just shouldn't have been said. I liked their plot-twists, but I didn't like how the scenes all came together. Sometimes things got just a bit too ridiculous and over-the-top.
Now, here comes the part of my review where I say you should watch it anyway:
1. THE META. Oh my goodness, they covered SOOO many tropes within dramas and managed to play off of them and it gave some REALLY good laughs. The touched on giving drunk girls piggy back rides, karaoke, product placements, dangerous briefcases, brand names being blurred, etc. And they were SUPER-DUPER smart about all of that.
2. The episodes are only 12-ish minutes. And there's only 10 episodes, so just give it a whirl to see what you think. Like I said, while I think it really deserves the rating I gave it as a whole, those meta moments were just spectacular. Spectacular and funny enough that I'd say it's worth the watch. <3
Watch this in one sitting when you have the time, it'll be more enjoyable that way. Also, just don't take it too seriously and try not to think too hard about how horribly the lines are being delivered. xD

1. Story
= The story's focal point is not simply confined in romance alone; it is multi-faceted. It tackles global issues and seemingly simple humanitarian affairs and goes to depths as the story progresses. It also shares another perspective about what patriotism is, about choosing honor and sticking to rules, about love being made stronger due to disasters. This is what makes the story new and refreshing.
2. Characters
= Unlike the commonplace chaebol heirs and poor girls in typical dramas, this one presents another set of characters that are perfectly realistic. Soldiers whose duty is to serve the nation, doctors whose duty is to save lives, and common people who are victims of abuse and circumstances. The characters are so deeply distinctive and each has his own personality, flaws and imperfections.
3. Acting
= The acting is superb and realistic. Each has done a very good job.
4. Music = The music is suitable and perfect for creating a romantic, sad, or happy atmosphere in every scene.
5. Setting = the setting as well as the story is refreshing

What I love the most about this series is the characters and their relationships. These characters were well rounded and believable. They all had their quirks, they all had their hardships and they all had their issues. You believe these are real students, with real family issues battling through one of the most difficult times in persons life. You see these struggling teens become adults over the course of the show. No character was innocent and every one of them made mistakes, as one does in life. I believe this show teaches some important lessons that will help you through life.
Not only do we learn that people make mistakes, and that these mistakes don't have to define you as a person, but we also learn that life is short. Don't get distracted by the drama and expectations or opinions of the people around you. Live your life and cherish your friends, you may not be friends forever but the times you spent together should be remembered. Its hard to see your future and all the challenges it might hold but you have to keep fighting because life is just too beautiful to give up.
I really love how this drama also addressed the hypocrisy of school institutions, the crazy expectations students are expected to fulfill and the large amount of undue stress students face from parents, teachers, the media and society. The students are battling each other for the best grades. The elite students study so hard they get sick and the less intelligent students feel like they have no chance. All of them are stressed in one way or another. These students are told that the decisions they make now will affect them in the future. Any mistake will be on there permanent record and a bad grade or lower rank is like the end of the world. When you're in high school, it is hard to see where your future will lead.
At the end of this drama, we learn that the future isn't certain and that's okay. Everyone is nervous and unsure about what it may bring, but with some good friends and a positive outlook, you can handle it. Life is hard, but cheer up!
I also feel how the relationships build in this drama are perfect. The romance between the two main characters wasn't rushed, it wasn't love at first sight and it wasn't head over heels. These two built a relationship over time and began when both characters were ready and mutually in like. It's as grounded a relationship than I have seen in a drama in a while.
I didn't care for the soundtrack, but I'm just not a big OST fan. I remembering one song repeating over and over again. It was stuck in my head for days and I am so happy I don't remember what it was. This is why my soundtrack rating was so meh. What I disliked about this series was that at some points it was just very hard to continue watching, not because it was bad, but because some moments were so heart-wrenching I just couldn't stand watching the characters go through it. Many moments just hit a little to close to home for me and it made it difficult to watch. I am extremely happy I forged through, however, because the ending was sol worth it and well deserved for the characters!
I would definitely recommend this drama to anyone and everyone. However, I probably won't be rematching it any time soon because, as I said, some parts were just hard to get past. This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the series for what it has done. I just wan't to be honest.
Excuse me for this long review. I'm sure I sound preachy ( and this review is all over the place), but after having months to think on this drama, I feel that these are the reasons why this drama so interesting, unique, and refreshing. And the reason why I haven't been able to get this drama out of my head until I shared my thoughts!
( If I may fangirl for a second, OMG JI SOO!)

I know I sound very critical, but it was still enjoyable in spite of the difficulties I had. Kang So Ra makes this worth it in the end!

Haha so make sure you don't have any tests or finals you need to study for while watching this drama.
I loved it. I hardly rate any drama's ten, and I rate this one a ten. This is definitely one of my favorites.
Acting/Cast: Ji Sung did an absolutely amazing job with his character. Everytime he changed his personality he really changed, I could hardly recognize him. He was also very moving, I cried so many times. He was great.
As for the rest of the cast, they did a good job too.
The only reason I give this category a 9.5 is because of Hwang Jun-eum's crying.... When you watch it you will see what I mean.
Music: Very good music
Rewatch Value: The only reason I give this a 9.5 is because I don't really rewatch dramas. But if I had to, I would probably rewatch this one.

1. It drags a little around episode 16, which felt kind of like a filler episode. I also disliked the opening song and thought the youngest brother was kind of annoying/campy.
2.On the left, we have Shi Wu Ji who is brutal, cold, and wears the same black robes as if to communicate he is someone whom one does not f*** with. He is 29. Revenge is his game, as his entire family minus siblings were murdered during a fire. What makes him a bit more human are the little things, like the fact that he has no sense of direction and easily gets lost and won't admit it, but remains silently serious while others tease him--
3.On the right, we have Su Huan Er/Lang Yiu, who is 18, and is the ignored and unrecognized daughter of a very conniving, money hungry man. She is described as 'servant' but is more like a lady's companion to her sister Huan Er whose place she takes to marry Shu Wi Ji. She is both unconventional, incredibly cute, impudent, and yet not annoying (rare, to play this role and not be annoying). She is not perfect, and has an agenda of her own, and wants to protect her family because her father now recognizes her. She firmly believes he is innocent.
4.Shu Wi Ji suspects that the Su family is responsible for his parents deaths. This is revealed in the first episode. Hence his marriage is more about revenge, i.e. finding a way to spy more easily on the family.
5.The romance builds nicely, and at a refreshingly quick pace but given the first half is 25 episodes, it makes sense. It is nice to see Shu Wi Ji go all god of war when his beloved Su Huan Er is in danger.
6.I watched this for the romance--there was a lot of on screen hugging, kissing, make-out scenes and references to love making and then the screen would of course go dark and not show us what they were doing...but we knew *grins* at one point he actually says that he has to show her how he feels with his body and then he carries her to the bed xoxoxo AND the female lead is a little aggressive in her kissing/not submissive :D
To sum up, I adored the male leads icy bad assness and the female leads bubbly personality and to watch them both change and and grow together. At last, a male lead who is not afraid to talk about feelings! He clearly struggles to express himself....I have been following this actress ever since I watched Journey of Flower and thus far have not been disappointed//when she called Shu Wi Ji it sometimes sounded like Shifu to me lolz

Mother is not a drama, it’s slice-of-life and is in no way made for entertainment purposes but rather to move every shred of humanity in you. So why watch when a drama's primary purpose is to entertain? The answer is simple, Japan is the best in human dramas like Mother, which stay with you long after the glowing warmth of a sappy romantic comedy drama has faded.
“I am not trying to justify what I’m doing, I am an observer who became a criminal that’s all“ Suzuhara Nao.
A school-teacher who ‘kidnaps’ one of her pupils when she discovers she is being abused at home. Her desperate desire to save this little girl’s life she with no faith in authorities decides to take matters into her own hands.
This is one of those few dramas that will have you emotionally invested by episode one. I personally have shed tears towards the end.The slow building relationship between Nao and Tsugumi, as little by little Nao learns what it really is to be a mother, is wonderful to watch.
I am not afraid to say that despite the fact that “kidnapping” is illegal in the eyes of the law, I was wholeheartedly supporting Nao all the way. She wants to save this little girl, whatever it takes and she is willing to take the penalty. You can’t help but admire her strength.
Another gift which this show bring to you and which rightfully could be the most important reason if not the only enough reason I’d tell you to watch this show for is Ashida Mana as Rena. This little girl was only 6 years old when she starred in this show and yet her acting skills by far surpass her age. Her emotional scenes just breaks your heart into pieces and leaves you uncontrollably sobbing. There are two scenes for her that left me emotionally vulnerable and heart broken from the heartbreakingly raw sincerity she has shown. I had to remind myself over and over she is just "playing" the part she’s not really going through this, I had to remind myself that so I too can move on with my life. Yes that's how powerful her performance is.
You might read the synopsis and think to yourself there’s no way that this story can have a happy, feel-good ending. Without spoiling anything away, the drama ends in the best most fitting way possible. Personally I’d say the ending is one of the most wonderful things about this show and has left me speechlessly sobbing.
Overall, I think by looking at the synopsis it is pretty much clear that if you are looking for something feel-good and entertaining then you most definitely should look elsewhere. But if you want to see a drama at its best, acting at its best, story at its best and finally Japan at its best then I suggest to have this one on your-must-watch-top-priorities.

ACTING - I honestly had no idea just how many idols were in this show when I first began watching (dumb I know, but I wasn't really into kpop yet.). The acting was very nice, well suited for each person and the relationships portrayed were very realistic. Each character has moments that are good and bad and the audience gets pulled right along for the ride. The acting isn't the best, of course, but it is a lot better than some things I have seen. I was happy with it, and I fell in love with Kim Soo Hyun of course. But who wouldn't??? Jason and Pil Suk. favorite characters forever; no matter what happens.
MUSIC - The music. This was my first drama, so it was my first show to download songs from and it was the catalyst for my liking kpop and my drama addiction. Music drama have become one of my favorite types and I think this show is the reason. I didn't like all of the music, and the opening theme can get tiring after a bit, but a liked a majority of it. The sound effects and placement of music within the episodes were fairly well done as well, without too many distractions.
REWATCH - This is a show that has a lot of rewatch value, but for me it is not enough to watch it all the way through a second time. I like flipping through and watching key scenes - especially the music scenes. I know a lot of my friends have watched it multiple times all the way through though.
OVERALL - 8.5! The show was pretty good, the cinematography and effects weren't mind shattering but well placed considering the type of drama. The music was really great. the ending wasn't as great as expected but pretty okay. The acting was well suited as well. I think it was a great first drama experience and I really like it. Lol I have a soft spot for it.

I enjoyed the idea of a complicated romance, where things don't exactly turn out the way you want. I thought it was filmed beautifully, and the emphasis on a woman in a non-traditional field was somewhat realistic.
The pacing was slow, but usually slow pacing means a lot of clever dialogue and character development....I kept waiting and waiting...and no. I had to force myself to finish.
They heavily referred to the confuscius rules that made life hellish for women, which I liked because sometimes I think dramas ignore this bit of reality, but after a while it became redundant.
I liked the inclusion of tribal peoples. I found the ending to be weak, and her utter lack of expression was not satisfying. It did not seem to fit her character well. I think a lot of people will disagree with me, which is fine. I don't think that they should have picked Wallace for the lead because I think the short amount of time available to him to film may have impacted the story. Or not and I am just wrong.
To sum up, I think the best thing was the lovely scenes/costumes but this is so normal in dramas that it seems hardly worth commenting on.
