A Thrilling and Thought-Provoking Movie with Superb Acting

Parasite is a movie that scared and excited me. The story is full of surprises and it's really interesting. It mixes funny moments with serious and scary parts in a way that makes you think and keeps you guessing what will happen next. The movie talks about important things like how different people's lives are depending on how much money they have. It's done in a way that's new and makes you think.

The actors in the movie are amazing. They make their characters feel very real. You can understand what they are feeling and why they do what they do. This makes the movie even more powerful and interesting. The way they act and the way the story is told make it a special movie. It's a great movie for anyone who likes stories that are exciting and make you think about the world.

Japan has nothing to envy from the US

Fans of Godzilla franchise never expected they needed this in a godzilla movie. Basically this movie gives viewers satisfaction out of something they didn’t expect.

When I watch a Godzilla movie I am here for the entertainment, the fun, the beast… And I never cared much about the people, sometimes do I usually find myself supportinh godzilla..

But here they gave us a story. A story through japan history to the point you wonder if godzilla was indeed real in our lifetime *joke*. They make us care about the characters and they are very much developed. At least enough to care. To the point that sometimes you actually don’t want to see godzilla. Thanks to everyone’s performance that was top notch.

There is a retro vibe here that is well done. The sounds, the raw sounds, the silence… it is so well done too. It triggers emotions in you which is hard. The crossover with history is gorgeous to witness.

It is also beautifully shot, godzilla is threatening (at least at the beginning) and his look.. nobody made a godzilla this way before ! Special effects are geat anf this is only a 15$ millions budget movie ??

I personally have nothing bad to say about it. But I want to point out something that was looked at by some viewers… they made the whole thing a very Japanese style even to the characterization. Mostly the good but also the bad side of japanese people. Like the relationship between the kid and .. you know who (no spoiler). Also it was criticized that is was too japanese to the point it was not real. Like japanese and japan isn’t this way ? I am taking a bad example but gossip girl isn’t the US and emily in paris is not Paris or parisians. So you see what I am saying.. well if it can bother some, I also think it has its charm here.

Anyway go now watch it !

The director and producer are the best

I think this movie really interesting. I haven't watch yet, but I want to see. I need to know which website. I was watching one of my friend Instagram that Song yiren love horror movies ?. Wow she doesn't scare at all. I don't mind to pay to watch all of her movies ?. She really cute and beautiful inside and I. Song yiren can pair with any actors no matter how old are them. Wow, she very smart she could speak English, French and more different Chinese. I saw a lot of bad comments about my Song yiren. Those people are not better than Song Yiren. Those ignorant and stupid people have no right to criticize Song yiren. Those people are not God. Only God can judge no one else to judge my Song yiren. If you don't like, don't watch no one pay you.

Tries its best

Round up: No way out or Outlaws 3 has all of the iconic elements of the previous movies: violent fight as a comic relief, lots of stabbing, a lot more swearing, fast pace, not much of a storyline, a single unarmed person defeating a bunch of armed people, even the truth room BUT .... at the end something's lacking in this one that makes it less enjoyable than the others.

A large part of it is about his new team. They lack the charisma and craziness of the previous team who went to fight like mad. 3 of them were outed early and those 2 from Narcos weren't much better. That made fight scenes inferior. Ma Suk Du can only do much by slapping people unconcious. He needs some like minded people around to keep the numbers.

The villain is a nice surprise but for all his evilness is stupid, the kind of psycopathic foolishness that doesn't think just kills. It's a wonder how he'd managed to keep his side business a secret all these years. Maybe the promise of huge money in his last deal had made him mad and desperate, still I didn't like him. The Japanese were usual evil fixers, did good with what they had.

Despite all flaws, I enjoyed it and had a good laugh and I'll watch the future movie(s) because I love this genre but I wouldn't keep my expectations high.

If I want to rewatch, I prefer to rewatch the others.

The titular monument looms large over Tang Shu Shuen’s The Arch, not literally but certainly psychically. The film is about a family of 18th century women headed by Madame Tung (Lisa Lu) who house a military captain whose troop has come to protect their village from bandits. Madame Tung, a widowed schoolteacher, is renowned in the community for her generosity and poise in the face of her late husband’s death, and is set to be honored by the Emperor with the erection of a prestigious arch. The arrival of the honorable Captain Yang (a sheepish Roy Chiao) sparks an attraction in both Madame Tung and her daughter Wei-Ling (Hilda Chow Hsuan).

However, there is no love triangle in The Arch, because Madame Tung is unwilling to throw aside the reputation she has built even as she struggles internally with her true desire. Even when it seems like something may develop after Madame Tung finds a swoon-worthy romantic poem the captain wrote for her, the poem is just…never mentioned again. This is simply not that kind of film.

Instead, this is an overwhelmingly melancholy mood piece more concerned with the restrictive pressures feudal society places on its female characters. Lu is masterful at balancing the placid benevolence of her town paragon while simultaneously letting the audience in on her deep well of sorrow and longing. In each scene, you see her striving to earn that prestigious arch at the expense of personal happiness, the tug of societal expectation too insurmountable.

Tang’s direction is enormously idiosyncratic and interior, especially when contrasted with the litany of martial arts epics and musicals popular at the time. She masterfully captures small gestures and facial movements from her actors, lingers on scenes of nature, and when the film’s climax arrives she throws that all aside with bold, frenetic choices. It’s the type of film that can be justifiably called visionary.

The Love Eterne illustrates the power of simple, timeless storytelling to resonate. The narrative (based on the Chinese legend "The Butterfly Lovers") is straight-forward: a young girl disguises herself as a man to attend college and falls in love with her "sworn brother" (i.e. blood brother/best friend), only to face familial obstacles when they later want to marry. Li Han-Hsiang’s production is exquisite and working in gorgeous synergy: elaborate and colorful sets and costumes, scenic widescreen photography, and playful, romantic musical numbers in the style of Huangmei opera (the 十八相送/“Eighteen Miles Away” sequence is truly an all-timer). There’s never a moment in which the narrative deviates from an expected development, and yet it’s so sincerely portrayed and opulently mounted that any concern for overfamiliarity were gently charmed away.

The most subversive element of the film is that both leads are played by women, Betty Loh Ti (with poignant vocals dubbed by Tsin Ting) as the girl disguised as a boy and Ivy Ling Po as the boy she falls in love with. Both are magnificent, so convincing as the yearning heterosexual couple that the casting of two women seems an inextricable part of the story’s message about the role of women in society despite the fact that this is based on a truly heterosexual ancient legend (from roughly 266–420 AD). I have to imagine, or at least hope, that Chinese queer cultural critics have written some fascinating studies of this film, particularly because it seems to be widely considered a populist Chinese classic.

The story continues on irrespective of deeper implications, building to its inevitable, operatic climax bursting with raw emotion (here is where Loh truly shines). The ending is poignant and wistful, and I understood why this story had lasted all these years.

Its nice but something is missing :(

Its a really nice movie actually , but things happened and the leads felt something yet it was never revealed what they felt. they just wanted us to look at their faces and know it.. the fml is a bit too passive(?) actually , I really couldnt find many answers about her feelings in the past or in the present. was she happy with that old reunion with the old friend? was she happy when that old friend who told her that thing about haruta? i dont know if it was meant to be like that , but they didnt make any monologs for that parts nor the actress's face told anything about how she felt... YET. it was a nice movie overall because the way our main leads healed each other , making each other face their struggles, and the message of never jugding anyone with just your first impressions. and the ending scene was definitely my favourite , i wish we could see more of scenes like that , i loved the chemistry and their dialogs. Masaki okada on the other hand , I felt like you could see his feelings in his face even tho he acted all jokey and sarcastic. roku's character really made me contunie watch this movie because overall , i cant say I wasnt bored but thanks to our only expressive and loud-like charachter roku , i kept watching.

but my suggestion is , you should watch it.
its gonna make you think about a lot of things.
yet its not so short and not easy to keep watching it as it gets so dragged towards the middle but I think it still worths it. not my favourite japanese movie but it was something nice to spend time with. okada's looks in this movie also deserves appreaciation , man is so attractive and cute

Our Mafia

Our Times manages to execute a variety of cliche conventions and provide a light hearted, feel good movie.

The story was pretty fun to watch and was very easy to follow.
Despite having the cliches, they are executed well, with teenage looking teenagers and decent acting. Though there are some parts where bad or subpar acting stands out. Most of it was solid especially on the more emotional scenes.

Music and ost solid as hell. Iconic. 10/10.

The first time I heard of this film, I was watching it with my cousins and my aunt. The scene we were watching was when Ayuan drowned. My cousin proceeded to blurt out, why is he called Ayuan, he can't even swim that far. He should have been called Ajin. Yuan means far, jin means close. That is all.

The film starts off as a solid 7-8 aNd as the story progresses, this shit builds into like a solid 8.5. And then theres like this 10 minute window where it turned into a solid 9.5. Very well executed. Also was very happy they addressed some real world concerns such as consequences of head injury. There was alot of foreshadowing and pay off from earlier scenes in the film that made it very very satisfying to watch.

Solid as hell.
Really enjoyed the film.

While there are many ways to die, there can be one reason to live.

This movie is not your typical romance drama where you’ll find yourself smiling and go ‘aww’ all the time. It touches on the sensitive topic of suicide with a touch of romance. Even though the theme is pretty dark and sad, this movie finds a way to inject humor here and there while maintaining its relevance and seriousness. The idea of two people who met in an unfortunate circumstance – when both of them tried to commit suicide but later connected and decided to do it together – is executed quite nicely, but with some flaws that detract from the overall impact of the idea. Just when you think the movie is going to follow the romance drama formula for Mark and Carmina, the movie suddenly takes a different turn, making you gasp for a second. The plot twist really gets me. I can’t really say I like it, but I don’t hate it either.

The elegant cinematography and production design are the aspects that I really like about this movie. It gives a dark, old, and vintage ambiance to the movie, which is different from other Filipino romance dramas I've watched.

Character-wise, Toni and Piolo did so well. Toni is always fun to watch. She has a knack for playing characters who are both humorous and poignant. Carmina has a cheerful and lively personality that makes her easy to love. But I wish the character could be developed better.

Though the topics of suicide and mental issues that lead to suicidal thoughts are frequently discussed and read about, there are very few depictions of these subjects on the big screen, which adds an interesting element to the concept. But this movie pretty much romanticizes suicide in its efforts to illustrate a narrative of distraught people on the brink of taking their own lives. All in all, it’s a brave attempt to break free from stereotypes, but the outcome is rather flawed.

Who is the real monster here?

Jan. 20 2024

I have dont have the exact words to say but this is absolutely a stunning piece of literature. I love every single bits of it. Prepare your tissues cause you are gonna need it a lot. The emotional rollercoaster I had to face. The scenes of the two leads and their innocence. How cruelty of this world is the real monster and not those who love others in a way that is not the "norm". The feeling of disappointment and feeling outcasted. Wishing to just be normal so you can find love. Disappointing your loved ones because they cannot accept for who you are. Wishing to live in a world where you feel accepted and love. To not be hated by society and be frown upon.

Monster 2023 movie explains this well. Strong signs of symbolism are present in the movie. The ending is open for your interpretation. And for me, it is that they are free. Free to live. Free to choose. Free to be themselves.

It is truly agonizing to realize how many people are basically experiencing this themselves. I hope everyone receives that happy ending we all deserve. Even though, life is cruel and unfair.

The amount of tears I produced was insane.

I hope everyone gives Monster the love that it deserves !

you were always normal.

genuinely. how am i supposed to move on with life. i cant begin to describe the extent to which this film has left me damaged

seeing minato walking through stages of confusion, denial, anger and desperation evoked so many emotions and memories buried deep inside me. his story has simultaneously comforted and wounded my inner child.

minatos constant struggle between wanting to accept himself and wanting to be by yoris side against his fear of judgement and his fear of being abnormal leads him to self destruction. the contentment he feels when he is with yori against the confusion he feels when yori is too close to him. the happiness he feels while watching yori being himself against the helplessness he feels while watching yori being abused. the build up of conflicting emotions results in minato not being able to manage his anger. he destroys things because he cant destroy people. minatos anger is directed towards yoris bullies, yoris dad and the world but mostly himself. he cant come to accept who he truly is and he is unable to protect the person he loves. minato destroys things because he cant destroy himself.

but what matters most is despite his own inner turmoil, minato never once tries to change yori. he never makes him feel any less human. "you were always normal," minato accepts yori wholeheartedly and loves yori for exactly who he is. despite everything, he escapes from the shackles of the real monster; a twisted society and attains freedom with the one he loves. where there is love there is life!! everyone deserves to be surrounded by love without judgement and everyone deserves to love with freedom.

anyways yeah best film ever made. its split into three acts, the story itself plays out in a confusing back and forth timeline but i think thats what makes it so great. ur left putting the pieces together but when everything does come together it will blow ur mind! the details are insanely genius from start to finish, i pick up on a new detail every day. ALSO, the music!!! the final scene with the score by ryuichi sakamoto was heartbreakingly beautiful, it truly tied the film together :,)

i reco this film to everyone !!

p.s do not watch this movie every single day it will change the trajectory of your life

Lonely hearts

Present Perfect, the feature movie which was based on this short film, was my first thai movie and I liked it very much but I never saw the original before. It is different as it takes place in Thailand and not Japan like the feature. But the core story is the same.

Two men meet in the middle of nowhere. One is escaping a broken heart, and the other is trying to muster up the courage to get married. The first one is openly gay, the second one is still hiding in closet, or at least his gay side! They become friends and then more while healing and growing.

The opening credits have Bangkok University logo so if I remember correctly this is a student movie. And for a student movie it is beautifully made: the production values are high is spite of limited budged. The cinematography is stunning, the sets are beautiful (those little houses have amazing architecture), editing smooth and the music correct. The actors seem inexperienced but they pulled it off nicely in spite of minimal chemistry. There are no explicit scenes, everything is in the glances and gestures: the hottes scene we got is a chaste hug but it is fairly obvious what happened. This only proves the fact that good writing does not need in-your-face NC scenes to make a story about love. Nevertheless, the story draws the audience in and we wish to see more of these characters. Which we got in two feature films, I recommend you watch!

The cast
Oat - Supaponpong Jarin
Toey - Tarathon Noylean
May - Nanthawon Sriwisanpob (the resort owner)
Faii - Suyanee Jaemmankang (Oat's fiancée)

"Lust awakens the desire to possess, And that awakens the intent to murder"

This is a movie that basically teaches the audience to stay away from Buddhist Monasterys, even if it may be placed in a beautiful location, the boredom they feel leads them to do the strangest things...

This movie did a great job inviting me to feel the boredom of the life of a monk (or several monks), i could truly feel the boredom take over me in this pretty as it may be sloow, depressing movie with less actual dialog than there is in page of a children's book. As the people here seem to speak with actionsand gazes instead of using actual words.

The whole movie is filmed in the same location, different season, same little (gorgeous) lake, surrounded by mountains and missplaced doors making me want to google a bunch of stuff about buddhist as I feel like this movie has a lot more to it than I actually understand. The little I do know or think know about buddhism the lives of buddhist monks is portrayed rather well there is a lot of silence, as well as nature takings its course, as well as how one thing leads to another, one moment the male lead sneaks a peak, the next he sneaks out, and before we know it he loses all interest and respect towards his master and spines out of control...

So while the pace was slow, there was a complete lack of dialog and I was bored at times I could not help but be fascinated by the few words I did get to hear, I am not going to say this is in nay way entertaining but I get why it is used as study material, it is artsy, it has depth, it seems to try to says a bunch of stuff and it makes me understand that I do not understand squat about it making want to google stuff. Therefor it gets a 8.

P.s "Lust awakens the desire to possess, And that awakens the intent to murder" seeing those words come out of the same mouth as the guy who later had a very interesting role in Squid Game was a probably the most fun part of the movie

Brilliant, heartfelt, emotional throughout

Monster is a movie that sticks with you permanently after watching it. It dives into perspectives filled with guilt, regret, confusion, love and purpose.
Genuinely, this was one of the most emotional films I've ever watched in my life. The storytelling relates to so many aspects of being a queer child who is confused, lost, but seeks redemption just because the world doesn't want to be kind to you, and you don't know why. The way in which they weaved through the different perspectives to the very last was a brilliant capture for the why, how, and what.
The cinematography is beautiful and has such a nostalgic atmosphere to it that I can't describe. Basically, if there were no phones-esque feeling. The characters are complex; every single one, void of any one-dimensionality. I felt myself immersed in their environment/s because it was that intimate being in the spectator's seat of everyone's individualities. Of course, the characters couldn't have been brought to life without the incredible acting. I was profoundly amazed at the main child actors' performances. I am glad to see that the cast and crew took very good care of them throughout the filming process, as this is an especially difficult terrain for children to act in. The music was beautiful, and I so wish there was more in some scenes because it put me in awe how delicate and tender the melodies played a role to further enhance the scene. Though I understand and respect the director's decisions; I'm by no means a professional, this is just my personal opinion.
I for sure have an urge to rewatch this movie because I feel like you can't pick up on all the intricacies in just one go, so this is a definite rewatch. Monster is a beautiful movie with a beautiful and very important story to tell. Give it a watch, you will not be disappointed.

The melancholy of loving

A volatile relationship (between two men and a third entering the picture, where the gender is only incidental to the proceedings), youth, living abroad in a tiny room in Argentina, shadows and light, a tango bar and existential pain assume an organic, cogent, naturally occurring chemical compound.

Almost plotless. Visually striking. But thankfully with less repeated music than other Wong Kar-Wai films.

Among the three leads Chang Chen is the most gorgeous, he looks like Ji Chang Wook's big brother.
