“Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.” John Milton
"Free speech is valuable, first and foremost, because, without it, there is no way to know the world as it actually is. Understanding human perceptions, even incorrect ones, is always of scientific or scholarly value, and, in a democracy, it is essential to know what people really believe. "
"Fear of being punished by a crowd...is an innate human response to the dangers of being ostracized, to being cut off from friendships and privileges that are critical to survival. We are born with a need for social acceptance. "
"...free speech is our chosen method of resolving disagreements, using words rather than weapons. Open debate is our enlightened means of determining nothing less than how we order our society, what is true and what is false, what wars we should fight, what policies we should pass, whom we should put behind bars for the rest of their lives, and who gets to control our government. This is a deadly serious business." Greg Lukianoff https://quillette.com/2024/09/12/answers-to-12-bad-anti-free-speech-arguments/

Drama Discovery Challenge 2
I refuse to watch chinese dramas any more: too much propaganda for my taste! K dramas have become boring trope filled dross and though I still try watching them, I keep dropping them like hot potatoes. Thai bls have become the background sound to when I am doing something else. J dramas are the only ones managing to keep me glued to screen when they are not live anime. I used to lurk on Feeds a lot, finding a lot of interesting dramas to watch but it has been only c dramas there, constantly for the last few months. They say it comes in waves but this c drama wave is more like a tsunami. Unfortunately!
