And it started so good too! Lets get to the pros and cons-
It was an awesome idea to start with a cold blooded woman being melted by a cheery, wanna-be chef. I loved the way that the drama started the story line was moving and developing, different situations occurring, it was exciting! But the story got boring, very predictable, slow and the idea went to crap. Although the concept was Yoo Hee's transformation into a kinder more presentable lady, it happened within the first 6 episodes. This drama focused more on Yoo Hee's love triangles and her naivety in love than her being a tsundere character.I am so frustrated because I didn't like the ending, and I feel like it was a waste of time.
The music is really catchy throughout the drama and for the most part its really well placed. I didn't like Ga In, maybe her acting skills were developing because I loved her in Bad Man. I did like Jae Hee, but his characters seem to be the same in EVERY drama. (although I absolutely hated what happened with his girlfriend in this drama) Dennis Oh and Kim Jeong Hoong were awful, as far as acting goes. The cast didn't seem to have much chemistry, none of the characters really seemed in love with the exception of Jun Hye Bin. Hye Bin was believable!
All in all, you really have to fight through to the end because its boring. However you want to see the characters develop because it begins really charming, funny and cute. My advice start and watch till the 11th episode at that point you can skip to the end. Trust me you wont miss much.

1) The Characters and primarily their core relationships made this story extraordinary. Cha Dong Ju and Bong Woo Ri and their love story; once it began there was no wavering. It was a solid loving relationship that had the perfect mix of sweetnes, spark and friendship. Bong Woo Ri and her father and grandmother; when you watch, you will realize why this family is so special. Cha Dong Ju and Bong Ma Ru; their brotherhood, their bromance and the way they loved and looked out for each other. There were countless ways in which these core relationships and the love that sustained them, helped them overcome the trials they went through. Now that this show is over I feel like the message at the core of this drama is sometimes, in spite of blood ties or the lack of, your family is made up of the people you choose and those who have chosen you. It is sacrifice, loyalty and never giving up on or hoping for, the person you love with all your heart.
2) The writing was very solid. It felt like there was a real story line trajectory rather than on the fly, off the cuff script writing that sometimes takes place to appease the masses/ratings. I got the feeling this story was planned from the start and stayed on course. There were beautiful words brought to life on screen by the actors. My above raving about the characters and friendships wouldn't exist without this writer's insight and story telling ability. The themes of family, loyalty and love rose above the necessary story/drama propulsion of revenge, hate and hardships.
There were other things to love as well. The cinematography was great. It was a pretty sweeping story as 30 episode dramas tend to be, so the sweeping views and pretty color palette fit the story and scope.
I loved the way they handled Cha Dong Ju's deafness. He was such a strong character all throughout the story. He had moments of fear and uncertainty but mostly he was brave and wonderful. The "writing" always treated the physically or mentally challenged characters with dignity...even if some of the characters within the story didn't always do the same. Does that make sense?
It is a testament to good story telling the 30 episodes went by pretty quick. The angst wasn't so constant and prolonged that you felt wrung dry emotionally. Lots of light moments in between! There was never I time I felt I wanted to drop this show or give up. Actually, I'm kind of sad it is over. It is a wonderful Drama! Give it a try if you are hesitating.

The story was just really fun. I laughed a lot and even shed a tear close to the end. Each ep is fresh because it has its own storyline while keeping the big picture in mind.
The acting wasn't spectacular but I think the girls did a pretty good job in thier roles. They kept the spirit of the sailor girls in tact!
The music was pretty catchy but the only thing I didn't like is the actual singing. Thier voices are horrendous LOL.
I'll rewatch this but a long time from now.
Overall, they did a pretty good job of capturing the greatness that is sailor moon. It was nice to relive my childhood=D

It's fine, that the plot isn't repeated. There are some affairs, but luckily Seno and Konatsu are ok.
I waited for the wedding... but... the end is ok. Pathetic, but as always - drolly.

This review may sound really negative but it isnt supposed to. You cant just give this drama a high score without pointing out the elephant in the room resp, the show.
I guess you either love it or you hate it.

There are many threads, so at the beginning I could't understant all things. In every episode, there appears so many characters with worse and worse problems. Of course, I expected the most, when Shen Qi starts to act. Ya Lun got the special role again.
As to Death... I dislike her image, because she looks like the witch from Snow White. Really! I expected the scene with poisoned apple. Du should be more... immaterial? Yeah. Maybe I like her more in this case.
Anyway, this legend is amazing!

I can't understand why Youko is so obedient and in result she forgets about own life...
Hmm... Maiko... Sympathy for the parents. Malicous, selfish wench with a big luck and... good metabolic [?].

What is more, the action is great too. There are only mysterious rulers. They must be steel if they are never destroyed..

The fashion world, style, clothes, accessories - it is important, but perhaps mrs. Jinbo Miki exaggerates...
Anyway, I suppose Karina is really cute here.

Spy Myung Wol was disappointing, overall. There were several things I enjoyed about this drama, however. The acting was quite believable, there is an enjoyable sense of humor to balance out its otherwise sober theme, and the character development wasn't half-bad.On the other hand, this drama had a terrible plot. Absolutely awful. This is NOT a spoiler, simply a synopsis: A North Korean spy invents a story for why she was in South Korea, ensnaring herself in a plot to bring a K-Pop star to the North. First of all, this drama tactlessly, carelessly and inappropriately portrays North Korea as a slightly more strict version of South Korea. North Korea is a starving, suffering dictatorship, and yet this drama was handling the situation with complete disregard.
If you can get past that (I started to ignore it after a while), the plot is still full of holes and unanswered questions and misunderstanding that are never resolved. The ending was awful, though at least it was a "happy" ending.
I don't recommend wasting your time on this! But it didn't leave me feeling angry or annoyed, just unsatisfied. Secret Garden and Kimi wa Petto are much more interesting dramas, as well as City Hunter.

Wow...to think that this drama is already over makes me sad. This was one drama that I looked forward to every weekend to watch - it's an excellent drama! Lee Yeon Jae, she lived her life doing the same thing everyday, working, getting paid and not living happily. When she's told she has cancer she suddenly changes and takes on a new meaning to life. She starts living her life and doing what she wants. I loved this drama because it makes you think of how precious life is, and maybe sometimes you just need a wake-up call to start living your life. The acting was terrific! Every emotion was felt, every heart aching, heart breaking moment. And then the happy moments were filled with so much joy. I've never seen the actors in any other dramas, but they were all great! Kim Sun Ah as Yeon Jae, Lee Dong Wook as Ji Wook, and Uhm Ki Joon as the main characters were all wonderful! Their characters were ones that you could easily relate to and love. The other actors were great, too!
The only character that I didn't really care for, and still didn't even at the end - was Sae Kyung. You'll see why when you watch the drama.
The music is another wonderful thing about this drama. Kim Junsu's "You Are So Beautiful" and MBLAQ "You & I" are 2 of my favorite songs! And the other songs they played throughout the drama were great as well!
Will I rewatch this drama? Probably sometime down the road. I really enjoyed it!
Overall - I think this is a must watch of 2O11! Life is precious, and this drama really makes you wonder what you would do if you were given such news - would you choose to live as Yeon Jae did? I highly recommend this drama, although be warned there are parts that make you want to cry, or start crying. The ending...without giving spoilers - is something that makes this drama even more perfect. So watch it!!
Also, I agree with everyone that made comments on her wardrobe - she always had the best clothes!

Imagine you are sold a book with the cover of a travel guide and on reading discover that in fact it contains a romantic novel. You are captivated by the story and read it to the end, but you'll have to go out again to buy that travel book you didn't get in the first place.
That's exactly what happens when you start watching Scent of a Woman. You prepare yourself for a romantic comedy and find out that there isn't even a hint of comedy. The scenes which are meant to elicit a laugh range from painfully embarrassing to bitter-sweet.
But I loved it nonetheless. If the definition existed, I'd call this drama an "urgent passion". Urgency is the undercurrent of the whole show, to the point as a viewer I found myself praying for more time along the main female character. And passion for life is the glue that keeps all plot lines together.
The actors are amazing. All of them. I can safely say this is the best acted drama I've seen in a while. If you want to feel true empathy, cry, smile, grit your teeth or fall in love, watch this. The chemistry between the leads is tangible, and it grows so subtly and gradually it becomes a natural process in their story. I understood why they loved each other and not because the writer wanted me to, but because they were so incredibly believable.
The same applies to all the secondary characters. You'll grow to love them or hate them, they are not bi-dimensional people. They stay consistent to their nature and when/if they change they do so without pomp or unbelievable u-turns.
And I love that the message of this show is not a simple "live your life to the fullest". There's so much more. As I see it, the main theme of Scent of a Woman is: we are not alone here; everything we do, and the way we do it, effects the lives of those around us in a huge domino effect.
Message subtly told and beautifully executed.
Photography and attention to details are spotless.
I didn't really care for the music, but this is just me. It was chosen with sense and I appreciated the fact that it was in line with the show: elegant. I'm glad they didn't go for any lalala pop song, which would have ruined the mood.
Without spoiling the end of it, I need to say the last episode was simply perfect and beautiful, one of the reasons why I'm giving the drama a full 10.
Therefore, I'm going out now to buy that travel guide book I wanted, but I'll keep this beautiful love story bought by mistake on my shelf, for future re-reading/watching.
