A good story but still not amazing.
PROS:
1-Powerful twists.
2-Happy ending.
3-The comedy element is really good.

CONS:-
1-The scenario is kind of immature and silly.
2-You won't know what happened to the bad guys
3-Can't feel the chemistry between the leads.
4-Although there's swings in the story between the happiness and the sadness still were not enough for me.
5-Could've be less than 31 episodes.

It's good drama like average drama and I see the rating 7.6/10 reflects perfectly what it presents.

Advice don't make the highest priority to this drama especially it's 31 ep. but still not that good.

Hope that helps :-)

I have to say story started as robinhood style doctor helping gangsters for money. i have seen lead actor in few drama. He is good in revenge or angry role. he is terrible when he is meek and mellow because its unnatural for him. first 2 episode decent but knowing lead actor drama go same way of bad plotline. This drama has few new support actors/actress and i like their acting. I do not like lead actor. For me he lacks charisma to be lead. Drama got better atleast they keep it watchable. Nothing make me cringe. So rating goes up.

Kim Mu Yeol the man. He is doing fantastic job as action hero. Best action hero i have seen in kdrama. He shows intent in action. Intent to hurt. That is the missing piece in all fake stunts in kdrama. No posing just pure adrenaline rush. Where you have been so long?. I do not like lee shi young as cop. She is terrible. Go sung hee improved lot or may be this role better fit her. Generally casting of cops is terrible. This is my kinda drama. I like anything emotional action drama because it seems like real.

The best things about the drama -
Strong acting from the entire cast. I have a cynical heart, and get real tired of kdrama stereotypes and lazy acting... But there isn't much of that in Healer. Ji Chang Wook plays the dark, troubled soul type stuff with an ease that makes me buy it. I never had to work too hard or analyze the situation in order to understand his feelings; it flowed naturally. (Plus, he's super funny when he wants to be.)
Park Min Young plays the cute and quick-witted girl with reality, combining spunk and fearlessness with an honesty that sometimes gave me goosebumps. The supporting cast is so obviously golden I don't even really need to talk about them. (ajumma!!)

The chemistry between the two leads was refreshingly real. Damsel in distress, hidden identity, etc; all those things were there, but Healer used them creatively, making them new. And when the relationship needed to move forward, it did: frustrating misunderstandings which kept our leads apart were resolved quickly and responsibly and not allowed to drag on for episodes at a time.

I could go on but I'll cut myself off and get to what I consider the drama's slightly less amazing qualities -
The complexity of the plot. Or rather, the sheer number of important players in the plot and how they're all intricately related. That DID take some work to figure out, and there's a decent amount of potential for getting confused if you're not actively paying attention.

The ending. It wasn't a bad ending by any means- the show did what it needed to. But it was slightly anticlimactic... (like 90 percent of kdramas, in my opinion).

Any other qualms I have with the drama are tiny ones, easily surpassed by the strength of the relationships and the pull of the plot.

I don't know exactly what has made Healer so easy for many of us to adore and obsess over, what it is that made masses of watchers experience euphoric giddiness at the first notes of the theme music. But undeniably, the drama has got that potential to suck you in (which we all love in dramas, right?!) and avoids a lot of the pacing slumps and boring cliches that abound in other dramas, so even if it ain't your total cup of tea, there will probably be plenty to entertain you!

[I wanted to make this review short since the show is short… and ended up writing a lot… Now reading this may be longer than watch one episode, well played myself, well played]

STORY (6) & REALISATION (5) [5,5]. A short story about young teenagers having their first experiences with love, how cute! The four main characters present different profiles, and however short the development of the story can be, I find it very cute and interesting. There are humoristic moments too, although they got kinda old since 1999, and are not really funny (well… I guess their age is the reason why it didn’t make me laugh). On the other hand, the fact that the show is only 8 episodes of less than 15 minutes long, these little almost awkward moments are not a big deal. The shortness of the show is also the reason why even though the story is far from being the best I have watched, I enjoyed and would give it a 6 out of 10. I hate the way it ended though!

AS FOR REALISATION. I really feel like I have to comment on this, even if there is no actual "realisation grade". Indeed the realization has some flaws (scenes with fast actions in particular), on the other hand it was obviously a tiny project, sooo… once again, not a big deal. I also found the mini shows of Takizawa Hideaki before and after each episode nice.

CASTING & ACTING (7). Yamashita Tomohisa, Maeda Aki, Nakamaru Yuichi and Akanishi Jin’s first drama! (Well okay, Akanishi Jin only appears in one episode and we almost don’t see him buuut still!). Aren’t they cute in their first acting experiences? Yamapi is only 14 if I am right. Their acting wasn’t exceptional I must admit, but it wasn’t bad at all, I appreciated watching them a lot! It is always great to see where it all started, ne!

MUSIC (5). The music is fine: light, kinda cute, not omnipresent, however not extraordinary.

OVERALL (5,5). All in all, I would describe this short drama with this only: EASY AND SHORT ENTERTAINMENT. You easily get charmed by those young boys and girls discovering love, and the shortness of the drama makes so that its flaws aren’t a big deal at all. Of course I cannot rate this drama a better grade since it seems to be a really small project, and however cute I found the story and actors, it remains far beyond other shows I have seen. Yet I keep recommending it for those who appreciate the actors like Yamapi.

Ijou ~

The greatest loves k-drama For me I loved their bickering at all ep because it shows how close to reality their “drama life” was even in the romance scene hahahaha.

When two people confirmed their love for each other, it doesn’t mean everything will be bed of roses or sweet things (honestly in real life), they still argue/bicker but the only difference is that now they are more direct and open about their issues, big or small.

I still cannot move on for this the story is great and chemistry of YYS & KSR is very sweet and so real so natural.

I like police procedurals and this one did a good job with it. As has been said, no romance except a past one motivating several characters, which made the focus more on the team working together against the bad guys. But that's fine, since it's rare w/KDramas. I do prefer well-rounded characters w/fully developed personal lives, but in a suspense thriller police who-done-it that's not necessary for me to enjoy the story.
The plot made sense, without many holes, and noone acted so completely stupid that I yelled at the TV. So often in these police/spy dramas, you're just going 'call for BACKUP! Tell someone where you're going' etc - but not so much in this one - maybe one incident. But I have to give creds for tight, consistent, logical story-telling :D
And for really awesome fight scenes! Especially Kim Bum fight sequences, but Team Leader there had awesome moments, and so did our lone girl detective, who was blessedly no push-over!
So I recommend this drama to those who prefer action & suspense. Also, this is one to get your male friends/family to watch if you want to show them KDramas are NOT all soaps LOL

This a drama that leaves me scratching my head as to why so many people love it. Honestly. If I could describe this drama in one word it would inconsistent. From the acting, to the tone, to the story.

I will start with the acting. I initially was reluctant with watching this drama because of PMY. She is not a particularly great actress, but she wasn't bad at all in this drama and she has improved quite a bit since her City Hunter days. Still not anything exceptional but passable.

Ji Chang Wook is a whole different ball park. He is the prime example of inconsistent. When he was good he was so good. There were moments where I was amazed by his ability to transition through his multiple characters in seconds. Although some of his typical reactions, that the main three characters seemed to be victim too, of ridiculously widening their eyes to express shock just had me cringing. JCW biggest failing was his dramatic scenes. He has a tendency to overact and it completely pulled me out of the diegetic space due to the sheer ridiculousness of it.

That being said the supporting actors were amazing in this drama. So damn good. Ajumma, Kim Moon Shik, Myeong Hee, Secretary Oh. Perhaps the best performance for me was the young Moon Shik. Both actors managed to portray the nuances of such a multifaceted character so well.

The storyline was decent but at times unengaging, confusing and boring. It wasn't until the link between Jung Hoo's and the 1981'ers was made that I become truly interested in the overarching plot. I spent a lot of the drama confused about what was actually happening. Why Jung Hoo after a lifetime of not caring about anyone suddenly become interested in his father's past and clearing his name and some sense of newly found moral code because of some girl just didn't cut it. He had been dormant for too long. There was no natural progression. It was arbitrary and random it was much later on in the drama after him and CYS actually getting into a relationship that made it make sense. Heck I didn't even know Kim Moon Shik was part of the broadcast crew until reading the dramabeans review. Perhaps it was my own inattentiveness but there were too many instances where things were glossed over. The focus of the first half of the story just disappeared to never make a reappearance, albeit being linked to the latter half. One minute were talking about red lead the next about live bacteria. We never got a full explanation of what happened with Moon Shik, Omega Holdings. There was too much form- links-in-our-own-mind rather than explicitly showing, that I did not like about this story.

The romance tonally was inconsistent. I expected a lot more maturity for a action drama but sometimes it felt really immature. Especially initial chase of the relationship. Jung Hoo widening his eyes and being shocked because CYS grabbed his hand. I just don't get it. I agree with one part the lack of petty love triangles made this romance all the more enjoyable. Their understanding and trust for each other really made them a great couple (plus the cuddling /dies/). Ep 15 was amazing, rewatch worthy. Overall the romance was good, but could have been executed much better.

Finally the one thing that was consistent and amazing throughout the drama, was the action. The missions Healer went on, his action scenes, his lithe ability to navigate himself in any situation. It had me captivated throughout the drama. The action aspect of this drama was the highlight of it easily. The small subplots were much more interesting than the overall one.

Overall, a good drama, but definitely not worth the hype. Did not have me awed like City Hunter but worth a watch.

Phew, that was fun! And I'm sad to see it ending so soon. It made for a refreshing change from previous spy dramas like Spy which were nothing but romantic stories with a spy-ish flavor. Not that I hate romantic side-stories - I love them, but only as long as they stay on the side.

Story: This drama focuses more on events rather than characters - at least that's the impression I got. It has its pros and cons - there are times you feel a character is dispensable and there are also times when you're not sad when a character dies coz you never felt one with him/her. It focuses on investigative Team Five - "We hide our identities to catch criminals. We don't exist in any records, not even police records." The concept is nothing new - it's been tried and tested over and over again. But its a worthwhile watch. There is a teeny-weeny bit of romance in the flashback scenes, but it doesn't interfere with the story. For those who think that with a young man and woman in the team, romance will bloom eventually - think again!

Acting/Cast: I like how equal importance is given to almost all of the team members. Frankly, I prefer this rather than the hero-worship of one or two persons with everyone else sidelined. I've seen most of the actors in some drama before (but hardly remember) and they did justice to their roles. Most of the times they are seen sporting stoic expressionless faces, so I'm not sure if my judgement is proper. I remember Lee Won Jong from The Girl Who Sees Smells and kinda miss his humor here.

Music: Great OST - loved it.

Rewatch: Why not!

Concluding Thoughts: Nothing new about the story, nothing new about the execution. But if you're a fan of spy/police/investigative dramas, you can try this once. It's better than many others I've seen in recent times.

This is a very refreshing drama. It's not only different in it's approach, but also in how it's story unfolds. It's smartly written. It doesn't get itself wrapped up in drama cliches, or at least none that I found frustrating or ridiculous. I mean, there is the whole thing with how dense Gong Hyo Jin's character is and that is a frustrating character in any drama, but instead of treating that dense character as normal like most dramas do, this drama makes fun of her for it. So they certainly save themselves on that.
The hard part about this drama is that I am so used to the typical K-drama format, that I expected the same outcome here. The thing is, I didn't want that same typical outcome, so it made it frustrating to watch. But since it didn't end that way, it's kind of an all is forgiven situation.

The most compelling part of this drama for me was Cindy. With the other characters it was simply just the typical K-drama relationship problems, or the trouble of getting better ratings, but with Cindy, I just felt completely sad for her. She had nothing in her life except for fame and it was heartbreaking. Honestly the fact that she was still stuck up and self centered at times further strengthened her character because it showed how it was part of her barrier that she would put on herself as well as just being so alone that it made sense with her. The fact that she goes through what she does and still ends a strong individual at the end showed she was the strongest character in this drama. IU does such a great job at fleshing out her character. She was fantastic.

From a pure acting standpoint, Kim Soo Hyun is easily the strongest. In My Love From the Stars, he was super suave, and he's a guy at the top of his game. But this show is why he is a top actor. I completely forgot that previous image and completely bought him as a bumbling dork here. Everything from his demeanor to the times he pulls off an impression, he owns it. Can't say I fully liked his character at all times, but he does a great job with it regardless.

Gong Hyo Jin and Cha Tae Hyun are both great as usual. I've always enjoyed them, and they continue to show why they are top class actors.
Kim Jong Kook was certainly a revelation. For being his first role, he provided some great comic relief and he does a much better job than I expected him too. All the way around the cast was great.

I know, don't post spoilers, but I'm not one to engage in comment sections or converse with my fellow drama fans, so this is basically my one outlet to get whatever I want to talk about out. So don't read this next paragraph if you haven't watched the show.

Our four leads are all big stars, but if you had to narrow the show down to two leads, most would probably say it's Kim Soo Hyun and Gong Hyo Jin. The drama seems to focus on their blossoming relationship the most. So, if this were any other drama, the two of them would end up together. I was expecting that, because that's the typical outcome. So because of that, the show was a bit frustrating to watch because I didn't want them to. They had great chemistry as a senior producer and her junior colleague, but never in a romantic fashion. So I just want to thank the writers of this drama for being brave in doing something that at least to me felt out of the norm by not having them end up together. So many dramas are about one character having feelings for another, and then that person ends up liking them back, but the truth is most one sided loves don't end that way. So while I was shipping Seung Chan and Cindy, I'm still glad they didn't end up together romantically either. Maybe you could of said the same thing about Ye Jin and Jun Mo, but that never felt like a one sided love, but always that he was just holding back.

I hope to see more dramas like this in the future. While I don't really watch American dramas, I at least feel they are constantly trying to break the mold and be different. K-dramas on the other hand are a lot slower in that regard. So many of them follow the same mold, and it's probably why so many of us get hooked on them, maybe because we like that about them. But at the same time we need to have those that progress more too. Not just in how a drama might have a different unexpected outcome for it's story, but also in it's format. The way they tried something new here by having the characters talk to the camera. It made it unique and something different for a K-drama, and I liked it.

I watched this drama many many years ago and loved it. Recently I found this on YouTube (although it was very grainy) with English subtitle. I love Vicki and her portrayal of her character. you can see so many emotions from her. I can't stand Leo. I think his acting skills were very disappointing. I would forward his scenes because I can't stand him. I would love for Alec to be the main character. In this drama he was such a comic relief to this very sad show. I love the songs Vicki sang.

I must be in a romantic, cheesy mood these days because I really enjoyed this drama. The effects were obvious, and the story has been done before, but I still found myself really into the story and rooting for the main couple (and just wanting to keep looking at Tang Danson of course!)

Story: 1 more vampire love story to add to the list for me. 200+ year old vampire finds love after losing his previous girlfriend before he was turned. Its been done. The actors are what saved this drama for me, but the little twists that help bring the couple together just add to the fluff.

Acting/Cast: This could have easily turned into a horrible drama that tried wayyyyy too hard, but it wasn't (not for me anyway). The actors did a great job of making the characters entertaining and likable, so I was interested in how the story would unfold for them. And let's be honest, Tang Danson plays the brooding vamp very well: dark, mysterious and aloof....which made his scenes where there was comedy involved even funnier. The female lead, Hei Lam, was great too. She's not your average damsel in distress, the girl takes judo for fun and can kick some butt, BUT she still needs to be rescued every now and then.

Music: I didn't really notice anything special, but when the action started it did help amp up the mood.

Rewatch Value: Sure! Its only 9 episodes. So if you're craving a bit of fluff from a genre that is usually all dark and brooding, rewatch away!

Overall: Its not the greatest drama of all time, but it certainly was entertaining and the actors made me fall in love with the characters and kept me interested for a 9 episode marathon. The ending is a bit...meh...but it gives you a bit of everything and some nice eye candy that I highly recommend.

When I first saw this on Dramafever, I didn't want to watch. I'm not a fan of historical drama. However, I ran out of shows to watch so I gave it a try. I was hooked from the beginning. Ariel is so pretty. William is such a handsome guy. I love George and would have preferred him to be the lead, but that's just my personal feelings. I love the chemistry between the 2 leads. You can feel/see the love William has for Ariel. There were some parts that I couldn't stand, but it makes a good drama.
Initially I couldn't stand Zheng Er And I wanted her to die a thousand times. But she portrays such an awesome evil witch. She's so crazy, but you just have to love to hate her.
I rewatched this twice already. I don't like the ending. It makes me feel depressed.
