A must watch drama
I finished this drama in about 3 days well loved it.The story the interaction between the characters the chemistry between the main couple and the struggles each character faces.
The second couple is really interesting and so is their story.
Loved the storyline it was perfect no misunderstandings between the main couples that stay long and I 100% no 1000% loved it.

Hoo-rah!
Using my personal rating system of "loved," "liked," "meh," & "nah," this was a “liked”.I just recently re-watched this since I decided I needed some more Song Joong Ki in my life and Arthdal Chronicles next season isn’t out yet. ?
Things I liked:
The bromance between Seo Dae Young and Yoo Shi Jin. They were my favorite couple in the drama. :D I also thought the funny moments were done so well—for example, the two MLs running desperately across the camp to prevent their girlfriends from opening a care package from other women was hilarious. The comments the women made as they watched shirtless soldiers run past were so funny. I liked that Kang Mo Yeon was skilled in her job and while, yes, she did need saving by our male lead, it was not the situation where a suddenly ace female martial artist no longer functions just so the ML can run around rescuing her. He was best at military stuff, she was best at medical stuff and they both did their jobs well. I liked their chemistry, too (& the chemistry of the second leads). I go back and forth about her going back and forth about dating YSJ. She had some legit concerns about the stress his job would cause her, on the other hand it just seems unfair that someone risks their life for their country and then can’t date because of it. But, having been in a relationship with someone with PTSD and TBI as the result of their combat experience, I can definitely understand her caution. Minor like: I like that they poked a bit of fun at the domineering CEO trope. He did all the things that CEO male leads do in dramas such as overwhelming the FL with flowers and investigating her life—but in this case, it backfired. Thank you!
Things I didn’t like:
The show really could have ended when they got back from the medical mission. The story didn’t have a point afterwards. Or…they should have had the evil dude go to South Korea and finish up the drama/action there. There were some medical inaccuracies and some plot holes but nothing that ever stood up and shouted.
Random question: Do Korean soldiers really have to verbally chop all their responses to their superiors like that when at attention?
Its a good watch. I'd recommend it for Song Joong Ki and to get a peek at one production's interpretation of military life in South Korea.

A unique watch
I'm not a fan of war related korean dramas in all honesty this is the kind of drama i hated before i even watched it but i managed to watched it and it surprised me it was good i appreciated the comedy and the 2 couples a nice decent watch. I don't recommend going into this show if ur looking for something un complicated like a cute little stress free drama the military jargon WILL bore u but if u manage to stick around it will be worth itEsta resenha foi útil para você?
Song JoongKi rocks as a baby faced soldier
I enjoyed the show. I liked the high risk military hijinks combined with not as intense medical procedures. I loved the fight scenes and the bromance, more so the shirtless running soldiers. I thought the locales they shot at were exquisite and the music score powerful. I enjoyed listening to the actors speak in English. But both couples gave me whiplash from the constant are they together, are they not together drama. That was way overdone. If you need a reason to watch this show, it should be Song Joong-ki! He’s beautiful and tough, deadly and cute, and for all the shows plot holes and inconsistencies, Big Boss is the one thing that will definitely steal your heart!

BEST DRAMA EVER!!!
This is literally my favorite drama of ALL TIME. It had super sweet romance, and a great story line!! Also, I loved the theme and the actors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is literally "the-best-drama-you-will-ever-see-in-your-lifetime". I really liked SJK's Acting. Also, the story had a steady pace, which was a plus. I also really loved the music. I'm super glad that they didn't drag the episodes on like some other dramas. I liked the ML's, but the SL's were also phenomenal! Ohhh, and, the location of the shootings were awesome! There was a lot of beautiful scenery . The OSTs were all phenomenal btw.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Looks dated now, but worth watching!
This show is definitely worth watching, if not for the great cast alone. I initially watched this show because of its extremely high ratings, but I dropped it after about two episodes and couldn't understand why my perception of the show was so different from the rating. After about a year, I decided to give it another go. Some of the things that bothered me originally still bothered me, but I warmed up to the show overall. Then it hit me, and here is my fair warning to anyone watching this for the first time: it's the Netflix/Disney budget effect! This show came out around 2016, before the huge rise of K-Drama on those platforms and the giant budgets that are now common, and it shows. While newer high-budget shows often look like 16-part movies, this has the look and feel of a TV show. Particularly, the military/war scenes are so cheap-looking compared to more modern-day stuff that it's ridiculous. However, once you ignore that part and remind yourself of the 2016 TV show aspect, you will really like the show. It has a very strong cast (Vincenzo, The Glory, Mr. Sunshine, etc.) and a very good story. It has drama, action, romance—you name it. Yes, it looks dated, but it's still a strong 8/10 on my scale.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

is this worth the hype?
as the headline said "is this worth the hype?" i must say YES. i watched Descendant of The Sun (lets shorten it to DOTS), from hearing from so many people that have been talked about this non-stop, including my friends, so i had to give it a try. i must say that this is my second time watching people with guns after City Hunter but this time its more intense since this story took a background where the main role, Song Joong Ki, as Captain Yoo Shi Jin, and Song Hye Kyo, as Doctor Kang Mo Yeon.to be honest, i already watched this drama a few times because i just love this drama so much, especially the chemistry between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo (we're not gonna talk about their love life here :p) and also the thrilling parts where some gangsters came and make a scene, and not to mention how funny it is between Captain Yoo Shi Jin and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon because they had bickers quite a lot because this Captain Yoo Shi Jin just loves teasing Doctor Kang Mo Yeon.
how about the romance? as i said before, their chemistry were no joke. they looked really great together, maybe one of them or both of them are comfortable with each other so it wasn't so hard to get the chemistry as a couple. is it cringe? well, in my opinion, its not at all, but people have different opinion.
maybe i'll watch this again when i miss seeing Yoo Shi Jin and Kang Mo Yeon again or just miss the drama because afterall this drama gave me so much impressions.

I really wanted to like this drama but…
I really wanted to like drama since there’s so much hype around this drama. This is no hate to the actors or directors etc. But this drama wasn’t for me. I just got bored watching this drama. Honestly, it was just boring to me. I wont lie, the starting of drama was good but it just went downhill. I was confused. Thats why i dropped this drama. The cast was great. Personally, im a fan of song joongi ki so, i was excited to watch this drama but it just wasn’t for me. I guess they are some things that isn’t for everyone.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
this is not a war story
when I saw the previews and the posters of this show I thought it was about love on a battlefield (private ryan like). I hate violence, so I refused to watch it. until someone recommended it for the romantic part.the truth is, this drama is about love and nothing else. the only hell you will encounter here, is the hell of cheese. of course there is military stuffs, fight scenes (beautiful ones if you ask me), friendship and violence (I skipped some scenes (because me, right?) but it is bearable), and all the war non-sens we know, but in the far background actually. all the spots are on human relationships and love stories. that's definitely a heartwarming drama. if you like love stories, you MUST watch this one.
the analysis part: the music is beautiful and goes very well with the story. the actors made a wonderful job! especially song joon ki (MML). I fall in love with his character, which means the show nailed it. the script is very sharp and nicely done for the love and relationship part of the show (that makes sens, right?) but the background story was messed up. really, there is no script, no overall story, the characters just fall into weird or dangerous situations one after an other, as if the writer played with dices. this feels very annoying around episode 10, so you'll need to let go.
when to watch? when your mood needs some uplift or if you share some time with your lover. it is even better for a re-watch because you can focus on your favorites love scenes without the stress of not knowing what is going to happen next.
