This is one OVERRATED DRAMA. I do recommend watching it at some point however, considering it is a very classic drama and contains basically everything a steriotypical K-drama possesses: jealous/evil mother-in-law on the males side, perfect parents on the females side, rich boy-poor girl, bad boy-good girl, a love triangle, a one-sided love, a strong-willed independent girl, a bad boy turned good who then obsesses over the girl while she rejects him repeatedly but at the same time accepts him? Yup confusing. Just BEWARE and prepare to be let down by how much this drama DRAGS the story on, seriously wasting people's time, and then the ending is basically a cliffhangers in itself that leaves you with questions unanswered. This is very steriotypical K-drama with a very predictable plot-line, it has its cute moments (which is the reason i recommend watching it) but again, IT DRAGS ON, in order to get to the cute parts, you'll have to have a lot of time on your hands. Once i got done this drama i felt empty, cheated and guilty for spending so much time on it.

It took me more than 18months to finish this drama, but in the end I finished it. To be frank, I was really anticipating this drama but somewhere in the middle I got really disappointed.

STORY
BOF type of story. The drama itself was like Korean version of Gossip Girl. The Heirs was full of cliches, which we are used to in k-dramaland. Sometimes I don't mind them as they are shown from different perspectives, but here, they were just cliches. But sometimes you just need to watch these types of dramas to relax :)

ACTING/CAST
I started to watch this drama because of Park Shin Hye. I saw, probably, most of her dramas and I was really anticipating this one. But funny thing is that while watching this drama I came to dislike her. I realized that her acting is quite bad and actually her roles are all the same. There is no versaity at all.

As for Lee Min Ho, even though I watched most of his dramas, I am not his fan at al. I started to watch this drama despite him being in it. I confirmed my opinion that he is seriously over-rated, he is not even handsome, in my view. As for the relationship between him and PSH, I could not care less. I was more interested in the side story lines.

I knew Kim Woo Bin before watching Heirs, but thanks to this drama I became his hardcore fan. He stole the spotlight in this drama. As many people said, I also preferred Choi Young Do, but, well, I am biased. I was really glad that he did not end up with PSH because he is too good for her.

I loved the storyline between Choi Jin Hyuk and Im Ju Eun. I hoped that their story could be the main one. They had great chemistry together and I hoped that they would have a happy ending...

I also enjoyed the Krystla-Min Hyuk couple. They were really cute. Also loved the father-son relationship in Yoon family.

I also loved my beloved Kang Haneul here, but I like him everywhere.

And lastly I must mention the relationship between Eun Sang's mum and Tan's mum. They were amazing. And after watching Kim Seung Ryong on RM, I became her fan :D

So overall, the cast was really good except for the main leads - both of them are soooooo overrated.

MUSIC
OST was really good. Normal SBS standard.

OVERALL
It was an average cliche drama, but with a good cast. If not for the story, watch it for Kim Woo Bin, he is surely becoming one of the Top actors.

I also have to give Heirs one more plus point. Thanks to this drama, I discovered RM. So thank you very much!!!

I don't think I can do this drama justice through a review, but bear with me. This drama is a masterpiece, despite a few flaws here and there.

Before I start, here is a teaser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QodEjU7peWc and here is a press conference with the adorable and talented cast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QodEjU7peWc .

STORY: 9/10
In Yub is the daughter of a noble, but when he dies in the hands of (watch the drama to find out), she is forced into a household as a maid.
This is the story of maids, their struggles and above all - how your status says nothing about who you are and what your purpose is.

The story is original and unlike anything I have watched before. I believe this to be the reason I became so attached to the drama. I was not much of a historical drama fan, but this one changed my mind. I did not skip anything in the first 15 episodes. I watched The Moon that Embraces the Sun before Maids and though I do not wish to compare (because they're entirely different), this one was still a lot more interesting. That might be because this story is more realistic and realistic dramas are usually my favourite ones.

As the drama goes on however, it slows down. They get stuck on the conflict between Moo Myeong (played by Oh Ji Ho) and the people he belongs to and this lasts from about episode 14/15 up until 18/19.

ACTING/CAST: 9.5/10
If I could comment this in word, it would be 'amazing'. Every single person acted to their fullest ability. Some even surprised me. I'll comment on a few, and I'm sorry if it gets a bit long.

Jung Yoo Mi as Gook In Yub - YES! First of all, Yoo Mi did not impress me when I watched Rooftop Prince. Her role and her voice together were a bad combination for me. But this drama changed everything for me. The In Yub before she became a maid and In Yub as a maid are so easy to differentiate between - and that's what I think makes her the perfect person for the role. Her voice is something I still have to get used to, but she did really well. And I agree, she needs that best actress award. In Yub is a very strong and admirable woman and her character development is spot on. Loved her.

Oh Ji Ho as Moo Myeong - *Sigh* I really liked Moo Myeong, I did. But Oh Ji Ho as an actor was a first for me and I don't know what to say. I'm not saying he's a bad actor, rather he's very...monotone. Maybe I should give him a second chance. For Moo Myeong, I'd recommend not reading the synopsis. I didn't and found myself viewing him differently. I don't think I would have reacted the same way If I had read it. Moo Myeong is formed by his childhood, his experience, his strength. Moo Myeong is strength, Moo Myeong is human in the truest form and Moo Myeong is gentleness.

Kim Dong Wook as Kim Eun Gi - 'Orabonim!!' The first impression you'll get of him is that of a typical nice guy. He's the dreamy character. Eun Gi is In Yub's long time fiancé, and first love. Of course he will suffer from a major character development, but that one matched his heart's condition. I don't remember seeing Kim Dong Wook in Coffee Prince (I only watched a few episodes), but he really impressed me in this drama. He also has an amazing voice. I was surprised when I first heard him talk! Eun Gi is extremely strong, yet fragile.

For the secondary cast, I'd like to say, it's my favourite part of the cast (/roles). Thank you to the casting director because the actors and actresses did a phenomenal job.

Jun So Min as Dan Ji - Dan Ji, described as young and beautiful, is one of the maids in the household In Yub enters. She is also linked with the son of this household. Dan Ji was born and raised in this household and has been a maid for the longest time. I loved this character. She is the maid that will make you both love and hate her at the same time. She changes a lot, maybe the most, throughout.

Lee Yi Kyung as Heo Yoon Seo - Of course I know about this actor. He acted in School 2013! He is 26 years old (would you believe it). The character he portrays, Yoon Seo, is a hilarious, yet immature and childish son of the Defence Minister in Goryeo. He is spoiled, simply put. As Yi Kyung put it in the press conference, 'the character has a wife, yet loves Dan Ji, and is easily attracted to women'. He is an interesting character and will bring out lots of laughter. Dan Ji and his story was at times more interesting than the main - and this is no surprise in drama land.

Lee Cho Hee as Sa Wol - 'The only thing I have is loyalty.' Sa Wol is In Yub's main maid, the one that follows her everywhere. She's beautiful inside and out and can put everything on the line for her master. I loved Cho Hee's character in My Lovable Girl and though Sa Wol is much different from that role, she doesn't fail to deliver. Someone said she should get plastic surgery and I'd like to say 'shame on you' to that person. She is beautiful just the way she is.

I'd also like to mention Ahn Nae Sang (Lee Bang Won) whom is my favourite older actor, Lee El (Lady Kang, Yoon Seo's wife) because I loved her acting and voice, Kim Hye Na (Ok Ki) and Jung Soo Jin (Ga Dong Yi) as characters who brought life to the show.

MUSIC: 10/10
As far as I know, the music contained no vocals, but it still was beautifully chosen. There were no need for lyrics because the story was filling for the most part.

REWATCH VALUE: 9/10
I'd love to rewatch this anytime. I already miss it.

I tried to make this review as unbiased as possible. Sorry for any misspelling, but this was long and I don't think I can proofread.

This story is really really amazing! Outstanding action/fight scenes, very awesome and very very cool love story that would make you fall head over heels most especially with Huang Xiao Ming's character as "Zuo Zhen". Each character was portrayed flawlessly.

You won't be disappointed once you watch this and you'll definitely watch this over and over again, that's a 110% guarantee (as I, myself together with my Mom kept watching and watching this over and over and over again)!

The story is all about Love, Loyalty, Trust, Understanding, Forgiveness, Pride, a little bit of Revenge and or Outrage, Deception, Endurance/Hardships (in protecting one's love, protecting sworn brother's and turf "gang related matter" as well as preventing Opium to spread all over Shanghai Bund). Lastly, Humanity, Care, Compassion, Grace and above all Dignity.

A standing ovation to the Casts, Director, Crew members, Writer, Special effects dept. and everyone who made contribution on making this story/series Perfectly! This is what we can say "created that's worthwhile''. I thank everyone who made this series - you guys made the impossible possible and I (with my Mom) thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts!

Huang Xiao Ming and Chen Joe's chemistry is very awesome! Hope we can see them together again on other films, movies or series or shows!

Best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to other shows as Brilliant as this! Keep up the good work! Thanks guys for making it possible for us to watch and enjoy this!

Cheers and Have a good one!!! Jiayóu!

I can't lie I started watching it for Dong Wook but stayed for the funny and thrilling story. It didn't catch me at the first episode but by the second the laughs kept me glued to the screen. This is definitely a good one to marathon if you are so inclined, I completed it in three days.

The story is not typical drama storyline...not too much on the evil controlling parents but more around the story about friendship, relationships, the ending and beginning and disillusioned love. The story while light really touches on some heavy themes although it doesn't dive deep into the heavy themes it does not sugar coat them either.

Some dramas leave you emotionally drained but this one will leave you feeling good...enjoy

Summer's Desire is almost an archetypal asian drama. It's far from perfect and totally not realistic - but it hits all the plot points.

Spunky yet cheerful poor orphan falls in with rich lonely boy. Romance ensues. Like-a-brother-but-not-really second lead (also a orphan) interferes and tragedy ensures. Lots of birth secrets and hidden motives. Amnesia. Revenge. Organ donation. Contract marriage. Noble idiocy. Dramatic ending.

The main adult characters are either wealthy business people or entertainment stars on the way up or down. Beautiful clothes, houses, cars and careers.

What makes it a memorable watch, however, is the acting. Heroine Barbie Hsu (as Xia Mo) has some great chemistry with her male co-stars. It is totally believable that both Peter Ho (as Ou Chen, Xia Mo's rich boyfriend) and Huang Xiao Ming (as fellow orphan Luo Xi) would fall for her. Real emotional change does occur over the episodes if you can stick it out.

Xia Mo's girlfriends and acting co-workers also develop complex love-hate relationships with her in their search for fame. I really love her fellow trainee who goes on to become her manager - she is so positive.

However, there is also the usual emotional tug of war between heroine and heroes so - if that isn't your thing, this won't be for you. I thought I was pretty hardened to all this emotion in dramas but I confess that I cried more than once!

Probably not a rewatch drama for me - but it was certainly sweet in places and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. The music was fine and not overwhelming - but oddly country-and-western in places. I think the music directer was trying for childlike simplicity but most of the music came off as simply childish.

I think this drama will appeal to fans of the main three actors as well as those who like dramas set in the entertainment world.

This is difficult to rate and review as a whole since the episodes are independent stories, but I'm going to give it a shot. I wrote separate reviews for all the individual episodes too in the episode guide section, so feel free to read those too if you're looking for something more in-depth about a specific episode. I can't talk about it all here because this would be a very long review if I did (it's going to be a long enough review as it is).

I think the most important thing to know about Hometown Legends is that this is truly a mixed bag: genre, style, quality, you name it. These episodes vary widely from one another. If you go in expecting 8 horror episodes, or 8 mysteries, or 8 whatever, you will be disappointed. The overarching theme is simply to have a supernatural element of some sort, I'd say. So maybe the best thing to do here is to attempt to categorize the episodes a bit, and explain why some worked better for me than others, and hopefully that's helpful for someone out there who is deciding whether to watch, and which episodes to watch.

In terms of (subjective) quality/how much I enjoyed them: episodes 1, 3, and 7 are clearly the winners. 4 and 6 were enjoyable, with some flaws that keep them out of the top tier, but I still enjoyed them quite a bit. Episode 5 is the next level down - not my favorite, but okay. The remaining two episodes, 2 and 8, I would not recommend.

In terms of genre, the episodes range from comedy (episode 7!), to almost straight mystery (episode 3), to horror-ish (episodes 4 and 6 are probably the closest). All are sort of a mixture of genres, though, really. Most have elements of mystery and horror, but vary in the ratio. The true oddball of the bunch is episode 7, which I described as a "supernatural caper comedy" in my episode review. It also happens to be my favorite, so go figure. :)

The music also varies widely, but most didn't leave an impression on me, so I'd say it's fine overall. The extremes are episode 7, which had some creative music choices to match its general weirdness (which is to say, it fits the feel of the episode well), and episode 8, which I felt had poorly done, distracting music.

The acting is generally fine, but to go into more detail would take forever. See the episode reviews if you need more. Same for comments on writing and directing, although I will say that I enjoy watching things like this (one-offs, drama specials, etc.) because sometimes it's a glimpse into a director's earlier style, or a chance to see a little more experimentation, I think. Several well-known directors are represented here, all before their better-known works, and it's fun to see how styles change (or don't).

As with the rest, special effects vary widely in their usage and effectiveness. Clearly they were working with a limited budget, but I thought that most of the episodes did pretty well with the special effects. Nothing fancy, obviously, but conveyed what they were meant to convey without looking excessively cheap or cheesy. I think it probably took some skill to decide how best to use effects with a limited budget, and most of the time, it works okay. Sometimes, it didn't work so well, and I would definitely call them cheesy in a few cases (episodes 2, 5, and 8 are by far the worst offenders).

So this is a super-long review. But I just wanted to try to give a fair assessment of the series as a whole, as well as a little comparison of the specific episodes. I didn't really know what I was getting into when I started watching Hometown Legends. The synopses and a vague expectation of ghost stories were all I had to go on. I'm glad I watched it though, and I might even rewatch a couple of the best episodes at some point.

Wow. I. Did. It! Party! Determination finally wins out! Then promptly after my excitement of completely finishing Full House, I desperately wished I would have listened to the advise of some of the other reviewers/viewers. ****Watch the first five episodes. Know that the male lead treats the female lead like crap. There's lot's of cleaning. And then drop in for the last 4 episodes.**** Because for me that was really all this story needed. Which is sad, because Full House started off really strong for me. The humor, the characters, and almost every aspect of this series was clicking for me.

Ji Eun is a well developed leading lady. She's so kind and naïve how could I not love her? She might not be worldly and this gets her into a lot of trouble. Especially her capability to love. Sure I'd get frustrated with her inability to stand up for herself or even turn her friends in to the police after they scam her. But that's part of her charm. Ji Eun is fully realized, friendship and her ability to forgive are definitely her crowing glories. She's kind and while that makes her a victim at times you can't help but admire her tenacity. Especially when she wants to get her father's home back.

Sadly Yeong Jae, Rian's character, doesn't do well for me. Oh, he's well fleshed out. His problem is he's spoiled, and a super horrible person. Yes, his character evolves and it's clear that underneath his horrible personality resides a nice guy. (Deep-deep-deep-deep-deep-deep-deep down.) The problem is that most of his development happens in the last few episodes of the series. Because this guy is a jerk to Ji Eun. He spends most of the show pining away for another woman, who is basically the male version of him. He does a few nice things for Ji Eun in between his trying to win the love of another woman. And watching him slowly (SLOWLY) fall for Ji Eun is sweet. I advocate for shows to take their time and build the love story.

It's a sticky point for me when a male lead is a jerk. That the scenes where I want to punch him out way anything else I've seen from him. The last few episodes should not suddenly be crammed with how he finally realizes how awful he's been to the lead, and now he wants her. It irks me. Whether books, TV, or movies. It irks. Especially because Ji Eun is so great! I loved her and I wanted to watch her be wooed and romanced properly. Not just by the third wheel of the love triangle, or again the last part of the show.

The rest of the cast of characters are fun, but none of them interested me. In fact, I disliked the majority of them. Their basic purpose for being there was to make Ji Eun miserable or give her some new hardship to over come. Sure there were some great friendship moments, love triangle swooning, and other things to add to the story. Sadly just not enough. Being able to enjoy supporting characters is something that can save a dramas and enhance. Of course conflicts need to come from them. But at least let some of them be likable and developed.

Now another painful thing was the music. Holy cow. Whenever Yeong Jae visited this bar the same song would be playing on endless repeat. (A song I used to love.) Some of the music was good, but after hearing it on endless repeat, during a pointlessly drug out scene . . . ugh. Oh, and the music that came on for the endless cleaning sequences . . .

This dramas took me three years of stopping and going to finally finish. It caused me to give up dramas for a while as I TRIED so hard to finish it. Full House will be the last drama I ever force myself to finish. The fact that this is a drama standard classic, and I can see how it has influenced and inspired many a dramas after it. (A formula that is very hit or miss with me.) Sad truth is that if I hadn't watch Rain in other roles and adored him before that, it would have been a lot harder for me to become a fan.

This is a drama staple. Just be sure to watch it because you enjoy it. Don't push on. If you really need to see it what I said above would be great advice. Especially if you've tried watching it before, or you hit the point where Full House is no longer working for you. This was the dramas that truly taught me that though dramas may be short, they can be some of the most repetitive and drug out viewing material out there.

The overall story was pretty decent and the psychological evidence in the drama itself is pretty legitimate. However, if you're expecting something along the lines of the webtoon, then the drama is going to be somewhat of a disappointment. The cases are not very similar, but the psychological analysis is. The characters are somewhat more involved in the drama compared to the webtoon, however this isn't a drama to watch if you really want in depth character development. In my non professional opinion, they stopped trying to create a certain image of some characters mid way through the drama, making them seem completely different toward the end.

Also it's an OCN drama, which means it's more of a mystery/detective drama rather than more psychological. If you're thinking this is going to be more psychological than detective then you also may be disappointed as well. Watching this at first, the detective cases were a bit of a surprise and take away more of the psychological aspect of the drama.

Overall, it was a decent detective drama with an educational (psychological) side to it. (it also helps that the main guy is attractive :D) If you're ever bored and want something interesting to watch, then I would recommend this drama. It's relatively short, so it's not like it's going to take up months of your time.

I love this drama so much, i would recommended this drama to anyone who love investigation genre. I think this is the first investigation that i cannot follow up correctly and guess who were the murder correctly. I love it when i cannot tell who was the bad guy correctly. Throughout this drama caught all of my attention and i finished within one day.

Another fact that i love about this drama is, it's very detailed and give the audiences for 2 episodes to solve the case. All of the cases here i would say brilliant job for all of them. The first one case gave me little bored but once they solve the case, it amazes me totally how they make the case to turn out very intertesting and cleverly i would say.

There are many twised within every case in this drama so, whoever love the twise in investigation drama please give this one a try, you would love it and you can ignore some chessy parts too because the case is very intense and the action of Ayano Go made this drama even more interesting when he has some doubt of the case and correct all the details together and solve it later on.

The story is brilliant and also the scriptwriter for this drama is great as well. The cinematography in this drama also just the way i like it to be little dark and little humor in some part. Mostly i would say dark but it was a easy dark atmosphere to watch so, i think anyone could watch this one easlily and enjoy all the cleverly cases.

Even though the rewatch value is low because it is the weakness of this genre once you know the answer, the second times to watch it might not be intense like the first time.

I watched this drama merely cause I believed in tvn & it never does disappoint me, it always manage to bring a fresh drama & introduce all the stories that are very ordinary into a new perspective, such a waste these dramas never get the attention it should have !
I'm not a fan of Choi Kang Hee but I love how cute is Chun Jung Myoung, so really with out any expectations I watched this drama, so I was really surprised by the acting & the plot, it was a totally new rule for Chun Jung Myoung which made fall for him again, even though its based on psychiatric elements it doesn't go over bored with it, juts enough to lead the story which sounded awesome looking to all the psychiatrist doctors drama we had recently, the characters were real to there feelings and there wasn't a moment were you would be frustrated by a character behavior & its quit rare to find a Korean drama without this moments !
its a must watch drama, fun & fresh & heart warming like its name <3

When both leads meet, they both dislike who they have become. The love is base on two strangers who are there for one another, literally. Even if they have little to offer each other, having another person just there, saved each other from hating themselves. The beauty to this drama is the fact that both leads break societal norms from age difference, marriage ideals, and career. The drama had good cliff hangers that kept me watching to the end. The acting was okay since this is how Japanese actors/actresses usually act, due to culture difference. (Languages definitely effect how a person act as an actor/actress). The problem I have with the this drama is the relationship was moving at a fast pace, that as the viewer, I couldn't catch up with the emotions the story wants me to feel at that moment. It would've been great if the story built the relationship more step by step, other than rushing it. Like earlier stated, the drama does address problems with societal norms, which makes it a realistic drama to watch.
