i enjoyed the chemistry between the cast, but it ruined my "kill me heal me" drama forever! i loved the OST collection, choi siwon was more than perfect. the leads missed something in the story....

It's Okay, That's Love is not what it looks like. Or sounds like, for that matter. Ji Hae Soo (Gong Hyo Jin) is a psychiatric doctor in training. She's extremely familiar with mental disorders, as she herself has one. She's terrified of physical intimacy thanks to a trauma from her past involving her mother, and has never had sex, not even with the guy she's been dating for 300 days. This sounds like a challenge to player/writer Jang Jae Yul (Jo In-Sung), who has moved into Hae Soo's boarding house, which he owns, while his own apartment complex is under construction. Also living in the house is fellow psychiatrist Jo Dong Min (Sung Dong-Il), and Tourette's patient Park Soo-Kwang (Lee Kwang-Soo). Jae Yul figures living with this strange bunch of weirdos might help him write his newest crime novel.

That's the surface story, and it's the one you think is going on for a good chunk of the first third of this drama. But it's not all their is to it. Jang Jae Yul is hiding an extremely traumatic past: his older brother Jang Jae Beom has been in prison for 14 years for killing their abusive stepfather, and three years earlier Jae Beom escaped from prison and attacked Jae Yul, stabbing him, at a public event. Jae Beom claims Jae Yul is the real murderer, and vows to get his revenge on Jae Yul - who is shockingly blasé about the whole affair, and doesn't blame Jae Beom for anything.

This subplot is introduced very early on in the story, and left me feeling kind of twisted as I watched. I enjoyed the housemate bonding adorableness, Jae Yul taking no shit from holier-than-thou Hae Soo, all of that, but it was all covered in a kind of murky darkness because of Jae Yul's past. I couldn't figure out, upon beginning to watch, how two radically different stories were going to have to do with each other.

But sticking it out is so worth it. I won't get into everything that happens, of course, but I deeply appreciate this drama on so many levels. It is worth all of the hype for its cute and its maturity, all rolled into one.

Mental illness is a big part of this story, and the way it is handled is very different from how we see it in American television and film. As the drama advertises, most of the treatments shown in the drama are fictional, but based in real medicine. Still, the moral concepts that the drama brings up about people with mental illnesses was so refreshing. For example, one of Hae Soo's old crushes is now married to a woman with schizophrenia. Their relationship, while troubled by the illness, is nevertheless one of love, support and happiness. Though side characters, they're used to represent what is possible in terms of mental health, and how love can do wonders as a support for (and not instead of) treatment.

Similarly, Soo Kwang's Tourette's is never played for gimmicks - he has an illness, he's matter-of-fact about it, but it isn't part of his story line - it's just the reason he lives with two psychiatrists. Instead, he gets to be bros with Jae Yul, and asks him often about dating advice, and is just generally my favorite character of the bunch with how positive he is.

Disability also comes up in this story. Part of the reason Hae Soo is so hesitant to have physical intimacy with another person is because of her parents' relationship. Her father's unidentified illness has left him in a wheelchair and mentally disabled. Though the entire family is positive about it, treats him well, and generally love him a lot, Hae Soo knows her mother had an affair, and that has affected how she thinks relationships can or cannot work when one partner is otherwise abled, or mentally ill. Seeing the way Hae Soo's relationship to this belief develop and change over the course of the drama was a definite highlight.

I was very worried going into this drama, as someone with a mental illness, how they would portray the struggles to get well and stay well. I was not disappointed in the least. Though some of their treatments aren't exactly real (there's a patient-of-the-week format in each episode where we see someone that one of the psychiatrists is treating), they're nevertheless overflowing with positivity in an attempt to change the way people look at mental illness, and the mentally ill.

And then there's Hae Soo and Jae Yul, who are adorable. I was on board with Jae Yul (despite him seeing Hae Soo as a kind of challenge at first, which was icky) when, after Hae Soo splashes him in the face with wine, he does it right back. It's such an unusual thing to have such equality in the lead male-lead female dynamic, and just that on scene completely hooked me. Jae Yul is such a mess, but such a lovely mess, and Hae Soo pretends she's got her shit together, but she's hiding her own mess, and I love them to bits.

It's also got a killer catchy soundtrack. I found myself whipping out my phone to Shazam a song that was playing many, many times. So good!

I definitely think this drama is worth watching, though it does come with plenty of obvious trigger warnings. I loved everything about it. The cast is wonderful, the storyline a mix of cute and heartbreaking, but nevertheless filled with a hopefulness that was so completely refreshing to see. A+.

After reading all those raving reviews, amazing feedback and comments and the cult following this kdrama developed, i decided to watch it, but in the very end, i left feeling dissapointed... I guess the bar was set too high because of all the overexciting reviews and the show couldn't possibly live up to the expectations. In no case, this was a bad drama, but i really don't get what was so 'perfect' about it. Here are some of my thoughts

STORY
Your very basic romantic comedy. The story is pretty straightforward. The story is set in the late 90s, we have a band of friends and we see their everyday life. The story has two goals. Goal 1: 90s nostalgia: teenage problems/school/ dreams for the future ect, kpop's first years of success and blooming. Goal 2: First Love.

In terms of story that was it. Pretty plain isn't it? I mean i've watched complicated-enough-to-keep-things-interesting rom-coms, and this definately wasn't it. Yes, i like complicated and deep things. Here, the characters felt superficial and childish, there was no effort to scratch the surface and get deeper with feelings (and the fact that they are teenagers doesn't feel like an enough excuse to give it a pass), and that bothered me. Yes, the comedy was on point, but that couldn't save anything.

The plot was heavily based on the multiple love triangles. In this band of friends, everyone is in love with the other one, so you understand what is happening here. Yes, this is a kdrama love triangles are to be expected, but they were overused here. They are nice, but the whole plot was based on them, and driven by them, enough is enough... It got old very fast. They tried to make things interesting when they fastforward to 2012 and they keep us guessing who the female protagonist ends up with, but it was extremely obvious who she would end up with in the end.

They tried to complicate it with some questionable couple options. Like love triangle between brothers, intergenerational loves, same-sex relationships. Even though all these are interesting, and they could have made the story 10x more interesting, the show chooses to go the easiest way make the safest choices and becomes predictable... Sadly....

Generally, the story wasn't that bad, it was just predictable, and done before many many times. The plot was too straightforward, no ups and downs, kinda boring a lot of times.

ACTING
Great, especially if you consider that 90% of the cast consisted of idols or ex-idols.

RECOMMEND/REWATCH
Would i recommend it? If you are a kpop fan, you like romantic comedies about first love and you don't want to watch anything deep, then sure, go ahead. Don't expect to get blown away by it, i don't understand how people got so invested in it, it was good for what it was, but there have been better rom coms out there, definately!
Would i rewatch it? No, it was possibly the most boring kdrama i've watched to this day.

Hyun Bin's first drama for me!!

Firstly, I know that people compare this drama with Kill Me, Heal Me but I would like to mention that I've seen Kill Me, Heal Me before this one and let me tell you that only basic story about the main lead having DID and the main girl being the trigger is the same, other than these two I didn't find much similarities so its just wrong to judge this amazing show from Kill Me, Heal Me point of view.

The story was awesome. I love the way how writer tried to show that no matter how many alter-egos, all of them together make ONE person. It was cute really, so I loved watching it though there was few holes here and there in the story.

Acting was AWESOME. I hadn't seen any of Hyun Bin's dramas or movies before and this was first for me and I LOVED his acting. He is amazing, really. JiMin was amazing too as well as the other people. Though Jimin's character got a little irritating towards the end but I was able to ignore it because of Hyun Bin's characters of course =p

Overall it was good and it has its own story, so don't compare it with Kill Me, Heal Me even though I'm a huge fan of that show! ^^

This is certainly one of my favourite historical dramas that I have watched so far.

50 episodes might sound tiring to you, as it did to me at first, but after watching even the first few episodes of this drama, I found myself glued to the seat, wanting more, and now I can't even wait for the new episodes. Every episode is so intense and full of emotions (though sometimes I do feel the shouts are a bit annoying). I also have to say the background music and songs just add more to the feelings.

Great cast, great acting, great music and overall, a well-written drama (at least, so far).
Highly recommend this to those who love Korean Historical Drama. It will never bore you.

Decent drama, Decent actors, Decent watch...

This drama is as I put....decent. The fact is most of the time, it is only represented as a transformation movie while once the drama starts it takes a darker turn. The two main characters compliment each other, and you find yourself wishing them to have happiness.
You find yourself constantly saddened by things that happen, and find yourself asking, " Is beauty really that important?"
It has the same lip quivering I want to kiss you scenes as other k-dramas, and some truly funny hijinx.

All is not what it seems, and as the story goes on you see the parallel lines for what they are.
The supporting cast is good, and sometimes seriously hateful. You see the two main fall in love, but it's sort of stilted between scenes. In the end everybody gets an ending, and it isn't that bad as everything goes.

This drama is worth a watch, because it can get really exciting. You just have to get past the first couple of episodes to when it really gets started. You'll wonder what is wrong with people when you watch this one, but in time will watch the normal climax of a normal transformation k-drama.

SOOOOOO GOOOOD :)

I spent the first half of the series suspecting everyone....lol even when they made it pretty clear.
This is an interesting series that shows its hand way before the last act, and you get into the interesting part of what do you do when you know who the killer is.
The drama didn't hold back on the suspense, thrilling scenes, and the looks that definitely gave me the heebie jeebies. However as afraid of horror movies, and the drawn out thriller grabs I loved every minute of this drama.
I love that while it did have romance, that wasn't what drove the vehicle of this drama. It was all about the action, and finding the clues to put everything together.
What good was it if you know who it is, if you don't know how it ended up this way. The characters all play their parts well, especially the villains of each case that come the teams way. The acting was spectacular, and more than once will you be horrified, shocked, and just a little bit teary.
The main characters are a decent match, and while I think Seo in Guk's character was a little too stiff, there are a lot of things to justify that. Jang Nara is a strong female lead, and a complete 360 from her baby faced beauty character, which made me sight in loud and obvious relief.
The story progresses steadily, and there are almost no loose ends, however I have to say the questions you are left with are ones that obviously the director and producers never plan on answering.

If you want the genius, teamwork, crime, suspense, and thrill this is the series to watch. I would say romance, but since it's more back burner I lean to the main themes.

This is a must watch....during the day :)

I love this drama :) It had great characters, and interesting albeit 'the norm' ways to keep the storyline going. It uses the drama cliches to its advantage, all while portraying a semi realistic relationship of two people with a large age gap.
The chemistry is beautiful...I really love that about this drama. Sometimes although the actors are believable in most of a drama, the romance falls a little flat. However, that's not the case for either of the main characters. Issues and misunderstanding happen regularly, but they are resolved in a nice manner that doesn't drive you insane.
My favorite thing is there is no insane dunh dunh dunnnh moment, but there are definite oh no's and please don't...lol.

If you like a sweet strong coffee like rom com this is it, and it doesn't disappoint. The main characters are fun to watch, along with the colorful supporting cast that makes sure there is always something going on.
Overall this is a must watch, and i definitely will be watching it again.

I would say this one is pretty much at the top of my favorite list. The first few minutes I had doubts but then those doubts turned around and kicked me in the butt. Loved everything about this show, the cast and all. The parents of Ho Goo are a riot even the parents of Byeon Kang Cheol were funny. The chemistry between the cast members were great and it was refreshing to watch, even the behind the scenes clips were funny. Loved the chicken dance by Ho Goo and the scenes between Byeon Kang Cheol and Ho Goo were comical too. The leads were great, twin sister was great as well. In a nutshell I liked the entire cast. Byeon Kang Cheol at first is just kinda rude and a loner but he grows on you and you understand why he is the way he is. He takes a while to come out of his shell but it was great when he did. I thought Ho Goo was going to be a whimp and too passive but he was a total charmer. The cute eyes and little look he gives is awesome. Ho Gyeong was just crazy but lovable. Do Do Hee grew on me, she was a bit cold but she was strong and she had her reasons. This was funny, sweet, charming and touching.
Now for a serious note, this show touched on some serious issues that I don't often see in this type comedic melodrama. I won't reveal the issues in show because I don't want to ruin it for others. I think it was handled well in the show but it would have been nice to see more about those issues and coping and acceptance for people that deal with these issues. The show skimmed the surface of these issues but at least it was talked about. I was so pleasantly happy with the ending, at least they didn't leave a bunch of unanswered questions and the ending was a good one. I don't expect a happy ending for everything but I do expect that all issues, topics and relationships are cleared up. So YEAHHHH!!!!!! Great job on the show.

I've been brooding over this show. I really really hate the ending - it is such a cop out ending BUT I love the show. I will give out reasons why I love it:

Reason #1

Here's a quote from the show from an Italian philosopher named Gramsci:
"Social class between people didn't exist only in middle ages. Their hegemony is blinding us from the truth."
(Hegemony means dominance of one group on another. I had to look that up.)

Reason #2

So Ji Sub - I can look at him for another 20 episodes.

It is a very good show and since I know that this was more fan service then an actual drama but shouldn't you at least fill the gape a tiny bit I mean her disease is progressing no one ever finds out about it is she going to live or she going to die and if she dose die then doesn't that give her knights a chance to live as humans. Also at the end when Jr comforts her and says since she was the one left behind she has to live on and shoulder the pain but shouldn't she at this point admit that she is slowly dying from a muscle paralyzing disease I can't help but want to know how this would go with her disease. I think I would have liked it if the dolls made a reappearance.

I really love this drama (watched this 4 times and planning to watch this the 5th time)
The thing that I love about this drama is the superb cast. The actress who played Banshu is not a very popular actress but I must say, she exceeded by expectations! Banshu is a very rash and cheerful girl, and the actress played the character really well. Really love it. The actor who played Wei Ying is also not a popular actor but I am charmed but him. He has the looks, the charisma...and his daily outfit in the drama is a white robe (prince charming), I am not surprise that his character managed to charm so many female characters in the show coz I am here being separated by a screen and could still get charmed. His acting skills are just bonuses.
Banshu's character can be a little rash at times and her actions are often exaggerated but I love her so much! She doesn't really know the palace etiquette and doesn't act like the normal gentle female teacher (????teacher who tutors the female students), but this is what make her special. She often does not care abt her image and behaves how she wants to behave. But what makes her so likeable is that she is so selfless. She cares a lot abt Wei Ying although he always reprimand her, places people before herself, saves her students' lives more than once despite them not liking her, and so on. Although she is very strict with her students and punishes them even though they are all daughters of high ranking officials, she is actually doing them good. For example, she makes them run around the court yard after seeing them all skinny and frail and she even gave the child emperor a good beating after the males students from ?? (an imperial all boys school)played a prank on her. It's very heartening to see her managing to earn the utmost respect of all students in the end.
The empress dowager in the story is not your typical evil old lady. She is actually quite young. She's the one who instructed Banshu to tutor the female students and gave her the permission to change the way the girls behave. After that, she ordered Banshu to teach the males form ?? coz she's disappointed that only 2 students signed up for the imperial exams and that all professors in charge of teaching the male students are all on sick leave (including Wei Ying) because of the palace fire. She sent Banshu coz she knows that Banshu fears nothing, not even high ranking officials' sons or daughters, and Banshu's duty is not only to teach poems blabla, but also instill the students of both schools good moral values.
Wei Ying is a ??? teaching the students of ??? He is very loyal to Liu Xuan (??, his lover whom he could not save. Hence, he is always stuck in the past and could not forget abt Liu Xuan. He even waters the plants that Liu Xuan had planted for 3 years straight without fail. In the end, he realizes that his love for Xuan has reduced to friendship and the one he loves is actually Banshu.
There are some characters who are there for some comedic effect, such as Huo Heng and Yao Juan. Yao Juan is another female teacher who is always taken advantage of by the students coz she is short-sighted and timid. She often walks into things because of her bad eyesight but that's okay, she's also very loveable.

If Fifty Shades of Grey was adapted into a fluffy, cute Shoujo manga it'd look like this. (I'm pretty sure the production/filming staff were aware of that too!)

DO NOT WATCH IF YOU CAN'T STAND CONTROLLING GUYS! Other than that though the drama is very sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it . The story is quite cliché and the characters are mostly predictable, but there's something between the acting and the script and the soundtracks (that made me giggle) that surprisingly made me really enjoy the whole thing, no matter how stereotypical it all is!

For a web drama Noble, My Love is short and sweet. I didn't cry but I laughed - a lot - and the chemistry between the leads felt strong too. It was a bit like seeing your favourite, old childhood fairytale adapted onto screen. I don't think there was anything that really stood out to me and made me cringe in all the bad ways.

8/10 would watch again! (Especially when feeling soppy and ill! It'd be perfect.)
