Decent suspense film to watch in your free time if you have nothing else to watch

I can't tell you exactly what is missing but if you enjoy movies with suspense, action and can take a little horror then I would recommend watching. I will say that I have a bit of I bias because kitty in Nanno is one of my favorite suspense/ thriller shows, and I've gone through a few of mark Thai dramas where he plays as the main love interest.

What I liked
·It has nice cinema photography.
·The character development is shown well
·The acting is really good ( I love kitty and mark so much they never disappoint)

What I disliked:
·The CGI could have been better

My First Japanese Movie This Year ✨

This is the first Japanese film I watched this year and I really liked it. An interesting storyline combined with a school setting and charming color gradations show aspects of youth and romance in easy times. For me who didn't feel the feeling of being loved or being loved in my youth and adolescence let me know (so this is what love is like in youth). I give a score of 10/10 to this film. If you want a story about teenagers with a school plot, color gradations, and a Japanese feel that is pleasing to the eye, you must watch this drama.

Am I still a stranger to you?

Sentimental movie about lonely people? Also about writing letter and have architect theme too??? This movie is a package deal made for me!

The plot is great! Even tho at the end you had a rollercoaster ride but we'll pass it. I forget how great Korean's cinema is for the past few years cause they are not like it used to be. Maybe I'm just born at a wrong time cause hell yes film on the 90's and early 2000's are worth to die for. And this one, this is an iconic one. Played by Jun Ji Hun and Lee Jae Hyuk, it's like the blue print of nowadays K-drama. I can't say it's an original story but it's indeed different with a twist and need to sit on the same table with You've Got a Mail (1998) and Haru (1996).

The colour scheme also is something that i enjoy paying attention to!

My July recommendation challange

Watch this for my July recommendation challange by forest Not realize I've already watch the Japan version just a few month ago. If not for the challange, I'll already drop it in the first 10 minutes. Haha...

Tell story about Chul Min (CM), a former boxer, who starts a new job as a parking lot attendant. One night, a visually impaired young woman, Jung Hwa (JH), walks into his tollbooth to watch television with him. JH's bright smile & cheerful spirit reach through to CM's lonely heart. Together CM & JH bring ray of hope into each other lives.

But their love and happiness may be short-lived, cause soon CM know the reason for JH blindness & his connection to it & fell regret yet responsible at the same time. For that's reason, CM finally decided to take the challange of underground fighting, to get enough money for JH's eye surgery.

In the end, there's some accident after CM underground fighting & that's causing CM to disappearing from JH's life. What will come in the end? Will CM & JH meet again in the future?

That's overall the story. Now let's talk what I like and don't.

What I like:
+ The Japan version I forgot, even though MDL write the summary about ML also go to underground fighting, to get enough money for FL's eye surgery. But I don't really remember much about it. But this one, leave bigger imprint in my mind about his intention for underground fighting.
+ I more like the chemistry Korea Version than the Japan version.

What I don't like:
- Many problem apart from CM & JH relationship are not explained. Like how CM back to Korea after the fight, or what happen with his business with underground gank... (You know the diamond...)

Overall this good movie to watch. I'm quite happy can re-watch this with different version.

Perhaps the greatest work of one of the greatest masters

I do understand that this work is on MDL more for completeness than for its fanbase, which is why it's rated lower than Divorce Attorney Shin. It should still be given the respect it deserves.

The basic plot of Ran is similar to King Lear: one ruler, three heirs, tragedy ensues. It's set in approximately 16th century Japan.

For me this is a film with no flaws. Kurosawa-sensei had a huge vision and a tremendous eye for detail.

The casting was perfect. The acting was inspired. The sets and costumes were nothing short of spectacular. The battle scenes were sweeping and raw. The intrigue was both credible and unbelievably well executed.

The truth is that I don't have enough superlatives to describe Ran. "Epic" doesn't even begin to cover it. But so many prominent critics have studied it that my opinion serves only to introduce viewers who may not know about it.

If nothing else, watching this film is an art history lesson. I first watched it as a teenager and it opened my eyes to what cinema as an art can do.

"No one can beat me"

Dorian “Flash Legs” Tan and Don Wong teamed up to take on an evil counterfeiter in Hot, Cool, and Vicious. This Taiwanese kung fu flick surpassed my expectations, albeit they were very low to begin with. Not gifted with the budget of a Shaw Brothers production, director Lee Tso Nam and martial arts director Gam Ming made the most of what they had, namely Dorian Tan’s excellent kicks.

Capt. (Northern Leg) Lu takes care of the law and order in a village run by Mayor Yuen. When Yuen’s son commits a murder the two men clash. Southern Fist Pai Yu Ching, a known killer, arrives in town with his buddy Tieh and begins working for Yuen. Newly arrived Miss Lee and her uncle bear a grudge against Lu. Before long everyone seems to be trying to hire Pai to kill Lu.

There were no secret lists or manuals, but there were plenty of hidden identities and subterfuge. The plot led to the fights nicely. Gam Ming’s choreography utilized the cast’s abilities and those with lesser abilities well. Speaking of Gam Ming (aka Tommy Lee), he showed up in the final act as the dangerous golden haired albino fighter. Dorian’s kicks are always a joy to watch and the choreography showed them off splendidly. There was a modicum of wire-fu when characters did some high jumping but it was kept to a minimum. Sun Chia Lin even got in on the fighting. Most of the action was fairly fast though there were some glaring misses. The final fight was worth the price of admission.

Dorian Tan and Don Wong made for a fun dynamic duo as they took on Gam Ming and a host of minions led by Phillip Ko Fei, Li Chiang, and Lung Fong. If you enjoy old kung fu movies, especially the low budget Taiwanese flicks, this is one to try.

Lovely little 7 minute drama/commercial?

Another completely biased review from me to you

I've been watching Gao Han Yu series/movies lately (cause he is just so damn fine) and saw this one on MDL. Since it's only 7 minutes long it doesn't take up a whole of of your time to watch. But it's amazing what a feel-good story it is for just that 7 minutes. The dynamics between father and sons is just so fun and the end just made me smile and put me in a great mood. ?

There isn't much of a story line, no drama, just a few lines and a few scenes but damn if they don't make them interesting! I would love to see a feature length movie with these characters.

Of course, I don't know if it was a longish commercial for a drink product or just a cute little webisode but I liked it! ?

A very heartwarming story

Its a heartwarming story of a boxer that experiences a very bad past never gave up on what he loves to to which is boxing. He continues his journey as a boxer inspite of his medical condition, he continues his passion for he doesn't want to regret it someday that he didn't try to do it. With the help of the people who were with him and believe in his capabilities he never give up abd it pushes him to do it for himself and to the people that believe in him.
There are many regrets that he experienced that is why he holds no bar in continuing his passiop. The boxing may have given up on him but he is so determined to make it.
Its a heartwarming story wherein a person can be a survivor in facing any difficulties thay may come as long as he fights on what he loves to do. Just like the ML never gives up inspite of his medical condition .
He does boxing with a different twist he plays boxing with Pansory Style that makes him unique.
You will love to see his determination here, irs a cute and funny movie.

The finiteness of love and the infiniteness of loneliness...

The film's visually crafted around a very delicate topic at the beginning but turbulent at the end: love within marriage and love outside marriage - people often call it adultery. I wonder if love really exists in marriage. And outside of marriage, why can't there be love?

Mr. Chow is a normal man, polite and attentive to his wife - even though his wife is rarely at home for him to pay attention to. He had a sacred belief in fidelity. He believes that he always lives with boundaries and moderation and absolutely will not set eyes on married women. Mrs. So is an elegant, somewhat reserved woman who respects her husband - even though he is often not home to receive that respect. She is careful in communication, keeping her distance from strangers. A virtuous woman with traditional dignity.

But when they discovered that their husband and wife were having an affair, what did they do? There will be no stalking, hiring detectives, rushing to catch red-handed, or attacking love rivals. They calmly arranged to meet for coffee to verify the situation. The calmness is humane but also very strange. Does a person who still passionately loves his wife or husband have this calmness? Maybe it's because they are very well educated, or maybe the love in their hearts has died a long time ago, so they just feel it's time to accept that truth: they don't have enough courage, so the husband and wife instead commit adultery.

The relationship between two hearts that are both bored and longing for love has blossomed within them. They loved each other while unable to love each other because of the constraints of their marriage. The marriage where they should have been loved, but in the end, they were not loved at all.

Maggie Cheung's acting is excellent, her elegant beauty and the way she acts with her eyes are so expressive, from flirtatious to confused and self-controlled when realizes that feeling is wrong. Tony Leung, his eyes, his facial expression whenever he looked at Maggie got butterflies in my stomach.

Unique cinematography style, expressive language instead of dialogues, images with hidden meanings, concise content, delving deeply into people's hearts in a social community with close relationships where the value of Asian spiritual culture is still relatively deep-rooted. The soundtrack is selective, sometimes it evokes deep sadness, and sometimes it overflows with love.

Epic final to a great saga... I still want more!

I watched, back-to-back, in this order:
Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning, 2021
Rurouni Kenshin: Origins, 2012
Rurouni Kenshin 2: Kyoto Inferno, 2014
Rurouni Kenshin 3: The Legend Ends, 2014
Rurouni Kenshin: The Final, 2021
I watched the first 3 ages ago, but decided to watch all of them again, in story, not release, order, which I recommend doing.

I absolutely love these films to bits. The life of the main character is a mix of almost aimless at times, tragic, then enlightenment and atonement.

The fact the film about Kenshin's origins, was made 9 years after the character first appeared on screen, is amazing. The main reason being, when watched in the order I did, it is a seamless story.

Many cast members appear throughout, pieces from the earlier, film 1, are blended in so when watching the next instalment, it makes complete sense. I was honestly blown away.

Satoh Takeru is brilliant in every film. The sword fights are incredible and they must have taken all the cast involved, a huge amount of work and energy.

The pace of each film is excellent, with a balance of action, everyday life, love, friendships, fighting for a cause (sometimes blindly) and defeating not only enemies, but those taking advantage of the powerless. Some sad elements too. There is also humour and a growing camaraderie between some characters that began as enemies.

I love Himura Kenshin and how he evolves. Supporting characters are varied, some villains are pretty OTT, strong female characters and the cast in all the films is great.

This final instalment brings us full circle, with Kenshin's bitter past, rearing it's painful head.

Films are rarely, if ever, perfect, but these just do it for me. Firm favourites.
