Dramas and Movies I watched in 2021

Watched: 10th December 2020 - 19th February 2021

Since my bad habit is skipping a lot, I wanted to try not to skip this time. However, I definitely did not manage to fulfill this goal with this show. I do like the drama, I'm just not a big fan of characters crying and posturing all the time. The plot, which I usually place my focus on and is the most important in deciding if I like a drama or movie, was fine. I honestly expected more but I gotta be honest, I mainly knew about this drama because of Xiao Zhan and his role in The Untamed. So, my expectations for any drama are very high now, not the fault of this drama.

Had to rewatch the first two episodes when I watched the rest of it because I forgot what happened in them. But hey, I loved it so it's all good XD

Rewatching because I literally don't remember anything except "thai bl drama swimming pool". Honestly, that's probably all I'll remember this time as well.

+ friendship as a topic as well
+ representation of lgb (tho the l is... let's not talk about it)
+ family conflict because of new "mistress"

Negative
- many side-stories that get a lot of screen time
- rape (???)
- messy storyline
- manipulation
- bullying
- lesbian becoming bisexual (???)

A case for re-watching because I forgot everything but some scenes. And I mean, it's so short, it can't hurt wasting away 1.5h for this.

+ music fits (tho I'm still laughing about the bed scene... Don't worry, you don't see too much)

Honestly, I mainly re-watched it because my friend asked me to write another review XD
But I really like the film so it was worth it.

+ great start --> pulls into story and gives you a bit of background
+ suitable actors
+ love the characters
+ great music
+ high re-watch value
+ the zombies look great tbh
+ love the kind of open ending

Negative
- some stereotypical characters but let's be honest pretty much every story has them

Impressive moments that stuck in my mind
- Grandma 1 peeling an egg for Grandma 2 and sacrificing herself later on, Grandma 2 walking towards the door of wagon 15
- the cute guy and his friend throughout the whole film, he was such a loyal puppy
- dad getting bitten and making sure he won't be able to harm the two only survivors
- the military guy with the sniper

Doesn't live up to expectations from "Train to Busan" but is pretty decent. If you ignore the many plotholes and missing logic at least.

- quite different from the prequel
- writing is a bit of a disappointment
- how did an infected get on the boat, didn't they check???
- and ofc his family dies
- logic is not the focus of this one, can't believe they would've left the military do THAT weird kind of stuff
- it's been 4 years and no other country thinks of anything and they still don't know how to deal with the virus? it seems that they're not even trying...

+ surprisingly good cast, I personally didn't know anyone's name prior to watching but they absolutely slayed
+ heartwarming, heartwrenching, scary scenes? They got it
+ still great after watching for the third time

Negative
- the music fits except for in two episodes where it made me laugh all the time
- the blood-spitting sometimes looks really weird

- pretty much the same scenes as in the full version as far as I've seen. Might watch it when I miss The Untamed and don't want to watch the whole 50 episodes. It's not bad at all, I just don't need to see the exact same scenes a second time

I honestly don't even remember what was happening so... It can't have been very bad but also not very good. However, it's very short (10min), so if you want to see some Wang Yibo acting, go and watch it :)

In the beginning it was very draggy and in the end again. I honestly don't know what was going on in the last episode because it was first flashbacks and some parts weren't really flashbacks and then suddelny there was war and fighting. And finally, one of the most epic fighters was a woman, Huo Sanniang, I love you for this. Other than that I basically skipped all of the white guy's scenes because his voice and way of speaking Chinese sounded awful to me. And some characters have way too much screen time and there definitely are too many flashbacks. However, overall it's quite a decent drama. The middle part is very interesting and, thank goodness, it has tomb raiding in some way.
