No more feeling blue

Ok so we were all a little disappointed by the abrupt ending to the first part of this KBL. So it needed this one to tie up lose ends. It's definitely worth watching part 1 first as you see a different side to both characters as well as some immaturity and growth.

The episodes are short (8 minutes with the last being 15 mins) and there are extra scenes available to members which week. IF you watched in real time then you would assume some things about the main couple which aren't necessarily true.

Overall the chemistry is amazing. The dilemma faced by one of them interesting and their dialogue was well written

I would recommend as a binge watch to avoid the weekly angst Jaemin caused us all. You're left feeling less blue than you did at the end of part 1 and that's good enough for me.

Oh! OST was good on this one and helped give depth to a very short series. Would like to see more from this couple as well as from this production company

Enjoy

happy for now? (watch suggestions)

Overall: the first episode and a half were so amazing in the first 4 episodes. But annoying plot points and the cliffhanger/terrible ending ruined the series for me. I was happy when I heard there would be 4 more episodes but they again did annoying plot points. I feel that this couple will break up after a few weeks or months which greatly impacted my enjoyment of the series. Aired on SUKFILM's YouTube channel https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYfaogVGCvwTczUW4K1YELu_cWQfUQ21a&si=Ae7a-g86tOGEtGNN I'm watching the cut/non-member version which has less kissing (and I heard an epilogue at the end of episode 8). Here is my review of the first 4 episodes https://mydramalist.com/profile/blcompilations/reviews/354841

Watch Suggestions
- start episode 5 at 7 minutes
- stop episode 6 at 3:20 (unless you want another overused plot point)
- skip episode 7
- watch episode 8 at 13:30 to the end

What I Liked
- the main leads when they were cute together
- acting
- kissing
- music

Room For Improvement
- due to a lack of trust and communication skills, I predict the characters break up in a few weeks or months which is not what I'm looking for in romance series
- did not need over half of episode 5 to be filled with a cliche female character
- did not want to see the character they introduced in episode 6, should have focused the time on developing the leads' relationship
- why was everyone extremely into 1 character? it felt unrealistic
- there was no reason to do what they did in episode 7 and apparently the ending scene was a dream which was not clear at all, but even him dreaming left a sour taste in my mouth

Whats with the cliché storyline?

While the first part of the series did have a female antagonist which felt forced, I have no idea how they could insert such a story plot in episode 7. I can't understand as well why there is still miscommunication and trust issues when they seemingly resolved their problems in ep 5 & 6. I don't really get it.
I thought they would tell a story where both of them would grow but not to insert a third wheel which will shaken one of them. The ending feels like they are in a fragile relationship and even if the ending seems to resolve all problems I don't feel it will.

So overall a medicore storyline with cliché plotpoints. I can't fault the acting and the kissing scenes felt natural for me. Maybe the epilogue in the "payed" version would have brought more clarity but to pay for some minutes more content is not worth it for me.

Dramatic boys

Jeez. How?!
How did they manage to create more drama and even more chemistry, with a new character no less?!

I'm dumbfounded, because this could have technically been concluded with five episodes, those last three episodes were completely unnecessary. I guess technically it was needed to set up Bad Guy, but that's all just parallels, the story was complete after episode 5.

Which sucks because they had chemistry. Good chemistry, I was invested for a minute there because more than half of the second part focused on Jae Min and his new love interest, and a half of the leftover half was spent on fixing the messes from part 1.

Although they concluded it pretty neatly, a lot of it just felt unnecessary. Other than the fact that I am way more invested in Bad Guy now, it didn't really do anything for me story wise. The acting was still good, chemistry was good all around, and if I didn't find out that the MC and the SL are the leads in another series, I would've been angry about the wasted chemistry, but they are, so eh-
This was a confusing experience.

Worse than part 1

Oh my goddd why!? It's not right. Hiding your thoughts and feelings from your lover is never healthy, especially if it's about you having feelings for another person. The ending of part 1 was already disappointing so why make it worse by adding another love interest??? I couldn't stop thinking about Jaejun and Jihan from Cityboy_Log because it was almost the same. Guy 1 and guy 2 like each other and get close but then guy 1 loses trust in guy 2. Guy 2 tries to talk to guy 1 and apologizes which works and they end up together. They are happy but guy 1 meets guy 3 and starts to get confused while guy 2 is still in love with guy 1. Guy 1 and guy 3 kiss which sucks. Guy 1 and guy 2 fight but in the end they are back together. No one is happy! This isn't a happy ending, it's just not. It's more toxic than anything.

When cheating was justified. Meh.

What a bummer!

Blue boys pt 2 started with me forgetting what happened in pt 1 and was too lazy to figure out so I continued watching it. That's how this storyline is, vague, forgetful and mediocre.

First of all that rude female colleague So Ri was pain in the as* then there's another siren Tae Ha. I'm glad they maintained the equality between male and female being a "bi*chy" character 🤡🚩

Justifying and neutralizing cheating was a big turn off for me. Yes it is forgiveable but if it happened with a hetero couple would it be able to put same pov like this BL? No. Maybe they're fine for now, who knows what's going to happen with them in future...I won't be there to watch anyway. Go to hell.

Blue Boys Pt.2 Thoughts

{Blue Boys }

I gave this show a second try (I only watched Pt.1). It’s been months since the second part got released and I spent $10 on the membership just to enjoy the full thing and take it all in. IDK why I did it, I just got the urge to (I need help).

My Thoughts On Blue Boys Pt.1

It’s honestly not much different with the membership, yes you get to see them kiss for longer periods of time and it’s more heart throbbing but the plot is lacking so much in so many ways that having them kiss for a minute longer doesn’t do much of a difference in enjoyment. I can say confidently that if this show had ended with only Pt.1 I would’ve rated it super low. Now as I write this review I haven’t watched Pt.2, so I can’t speak much about the overall rating and how much I enjoyed overall. But so far based on Pt.1, with uncut scenes, my rating is 7. I rated it a 6.5 before when it had come out but I think the longer scenes definitely make the ratings go a bit higher but not too high. So 7 is a perfect score for this part.

My Thoughts On Blue Boys Pt.2

This part was definitely more lively than Pt.1, but somehow I am now shipping Choi Jae Min with Tae Ha, idk they seemed like they could be a cuter couple. But regardless I glad this show had a happy ending, this part didn’t have much even with the uncut so that was a bit disappointing but it’s fine. I rate this one a 7 too, still lacking a lot and could have been better. I feel like they had the chance to do more with this part but kept it very mediocre and lowkey. It was ok.

From chilly blue winter to warm blue spring skies

The series basically feels like what it would like to watch only the parts focused on the main couple without any of the subplots of a usual full length show or like back in the day when gay characters did not have their own series. I love that Jae Min and Nam Yi started off so direct with each other, but in verbalizing how they feel and expressing it physically as well. They establish that Nam Yi probably does love Jae Min a bit more and has experience dating other people albeit not seriously. Jae Min doesn't mention dating anyone before and now that he has that happy relationship glow is attracting other people too like Tae Ha, who really used his pretty privilege to get away with sniffing someone without the cops being called on him. Jae Min was lonely and he's very tempted by probably the attractive and second ever guy to confess to him, but he did immediately tell Tae Ha he's already dating someone once Tae Ha kissed him. I'm glad that Nam Yi expressed fully how hurtful that Jae Min didn't just tell him the truth of what happened instead of him having to stumble upon this. I hope this lesson is settled for both of them and Nam Yi doesn't have to feel insecure every time Jae Min puts on a cute outfit and will be working around other guys because it's really just Jae Min in regular clothes, the cuteness is just how he is lol.

The Soo Ri subplot of her manipulating Jae Min by threatening to spread rumors outing him to every company she has connections to was already evil, but then her recounting it to Nam Yi who rebuffs her love confession like it's something to be proud of is extra evil. This also brings up the economic divide between Jae Min and Nam Yi that I don't feel like got much exploration. When they reunited that first night since high school, Jae Min hadn't had money to pay the gas for two months. It looks like Nam Yi semi-moved in, did he help pay the bills? Even after Jae Min goes to see Nam Yi's nicer place the night they broke up and later made up, they still are just staying at Jae Min's place. Soo Ri also points out the fact that it's harder for Jae Min to find a job than Nam Yi with the outing. The missing part that the short run time can't cover is Jae Min finally successfully landing a job that he likes. Despite that, overall it's still a interesting portrait of a new relationship going through the growing pains to become stronger. The main couple is lovely and I hope even Tae Ha will figure his messy self out, that he shouldn't just go around kissing people who are already dating someone else just because they look lonely and smell amazing.

Fear girl & temptation guy

We all know that there is one thing that is next to impossible to see in korean dramas, in particular, korean BLs : real kisses. Oh boy, and do they go for it here!
I watched the free, cut version on youtube. If the uncut version has more explicit NC scenes, I refuse to pay for it because those scenes most of the time add nothing to the plot. As we have seen with many recent thai bls, excessive NC content is not the recipe for a good drama. People fall for it a few times but then afterwards, when they'd finished being titillated, they want some other content (i.e. a story, solid writing and acting!) beside shiny abs. At least, I do!

Blue Boys is a drama about two high school friends NamYi and JaeMin who reconnect as adults. The sparks fly and they start dating. But the honeymoon period is of short duration when and wannabee girlfriend scares one of them off. As soon as they make up, there is a temptation in the shape of another man. Throughout the drama, they keep getting together and then breaking up mainly because of JaeMin and his lack of trust and self confidence.

This short web drama is a typical korean fare: low budget which shows. No cinematography to speak of (cold colours, classical feel: though on second thought, it might be on purpose since the title has blue in it!), sound recorded in a cave (echo is terrible in the scenes filmed inside), no extras. Only when they film scenes outdoors, the feeling is mellower.

As for the writing: the background story of characters is missing. We know next to nothing about where they come from except that one is rich and the other one poor (though he has a Mac laptop, keeps sitting in cafés and never seem to work in order to pay for his nice flat!). Well, I think that we are not supposed to think of all those details but when the plot (wannabee girlfriend blackmailing) insists upon it, it is somehow hard to do it. The topic of the drama is the first gay love: one man has only dated girls so far while the other one has not dated anyone yet.

The biggest problem this drama has are the bad, bad subs. I had to rewatch the second episode a couple of times because the phone conversation makes zero sense. Another translation made everything look extremely creepy: NamYi wrote an article for his blog about the first gay experience and he called his partner a child, as translated by the production. That could not be any worse as a translation in this context. I was just happy not to have paid for the VIP membership: with such horrible subs, I would have regretted it for a long time.

The temptation guy, TaeHa is the star of his own BL: Bad Guy.

The rest was correct: the actors had correct chemistry, the acting was correct, the two side characters suspicious from the get go. A typical korean web drama just a bl. Not bad but memorable only for those sincere kisses which earned them an added point in my ratings. It is short and watchable. Go for it without any expectations, and you'll spend 90 min resting !

We have the closure of Nam Yi and Jae Min's love story.

A young and sexy South Korean gay couple must face different obstacles to achieve happiness. Both would like to seal their union and live together, perhaps even get married, but equal marriage is not legal in the country and homosexuals are discriminated against and rejected even by their families, who see homosexuality as a crime.
Let us remember that in the first season of this South Korean miniseries of four episodes each, the love relationship between Kim Nam Yi, played by Lee Hoo Rim, and Choi Jae Min, a role assumed by Choi Seung Jin, did not have a happy ending, because between The two intersected the homophobia that persists in South Korean society, in which LGBTIQ+ people face legal challenges and discrimination not experienced by the rest of South Koreans.
Once this obstacle is overcome by the two boys' decision to move forward in their relationship, the couple's harmony and happiness is put to the test once again, when Tae Ha (Jeong Ri U), a handsome university student, is placed between the two. two after falling in love with Jae Min and causes him to doubt his love for Nam Yi.
Will adversity be stronger than love between young homosexuals Kim Nam Yi and Choi Jae Min?
The bad news is that this is a low-budget miniseries, so the visuals and sets aren't as impressive as blockbusters. But isn't that the case with so many works of art that emerge in support of gay aesthetics?
Being low budget, it needs a good plot to captivate the viewers. This is how it tells a moving story of eternal love between two high school friends who meet again some time later, living between their 20s and 20s. They have both lived their lives trying to conform to heteronormativity, but have failed because they have essentially sought each other and long to form a couple.
Even though they face social pressure and jealousy, their love still manages to become something beautiful.
