A Cup Of Tea On A Cold Winters Morning
This is a light and healing drama with some touch of serious notes. Warning: If you're sensitive to relationship abuse, you might want to steer clear or at least skip through some scenes on this as it does deal with those kind of issues.The storyline was lovely and very much a slow burn on this. It focuses on the two main character's and their developing romance, but also follows other characters on their walk through life. I experienced some very lovely warm feelings from watching as the relationships and romance played out on the screen. It does get quite serious at times, but the story is more about finding your own happiness and not living your life according to other peoples expectations. Love yourself and look for your happiness continually instead of getting lost in societal pressures. Also, community is everything. I do wish the ending was a little less open ended, but not every story gets wrapped up with perfect bows, so it wasn't too much of a concern.
The acting was spot on. I didn't cry much in this, which was exactly what I was looking for, but there were many smiles and laughs watching WTWIF. Everything conveyed is so genuine, that sometimes when the characters are only looking at each other or acting without words, I felt the emotions through the screen. It was highly pleasant and enjoyable to watch.
The music is very pretty and soothing. Not the main focus for sure, but it helped heavily in setting the mood in many scenes.
All in all, I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a break from heavy dramas and want something soothing to the soul and mind. It was a slow developing drama, but at sixteen episodes, I thought it was paced well and very enjoyable. It left me with a nice warm feeling after watching it.

Bad Ending and Bad Message of the Show?
I've only seen a few reviews critique this, so I would really like to make my own review and point this out myself....while I personally loved the things most people disliked, including slow-pace and the 'small town' vibes, I did not like how this show ended. I feel like this whole contrived "main romance couple must split up" cliche is way overdone in dramas; it's very frustrating. Even so, I can tolerate it if it makes any sense. Hae Won was miserable in the city, couldn't find a good job, and was happy with Eun Sub, and chose to break up with him and forget him?? He did not deserve that at all, it was honestly super effed up. She had just yelled at her aunt about families sharing pain, and as soon as she had an issue she completely ditched Eun Sub. She opened his heart and made him love her even more and then just ditched him. Felt like she just used him to get forward emotionally throughout the whole drama. And now what? Is she only staying a short time, and just going to ditch him again? The ending did not make it clear how long she planned to stay. I want to rate this drama good since it still made me happy but the ending just made the main female seem like the whole drama and romance was a lie or just something for her to pass the time. Meanwhile Eun Sub literally has had trauma and fears his entire life of being abandoned and ditched, and she did just that because she know he would continue loving her regardless. I'm sorry but I just cannot get behind this ending, because it really ruined the entire show for me. I'm so angry and disappointed right now.As another quick note, I saw very little chemistry between the leads. I understand that Eun Sub cannot express his love as openly as other people can, and I really appreciated Seo Kang Joon's amazing acting for the overlooked but important things like that and his versatility as always. However, I simply sensed very little chemistry from them at all. It's weird because I always thought chemistry came with great actors, but really after seeing this drama I understand the concept of chemistry now. They're both amazing actors and yet I felt as if their chemistry was garbage. Maybe both actors or one or the other failed to convince me that they loved the other. Not sure what it was, but it honestly felt a little souless.
The story was handled carelessly not only in the ending romance but its depiction of abuse victims. Someone reviewed this more thoroughly than me, but the way this show portrays victims of a monster and the way it creates sympathy for an abuser just because he was nice to other people is seriously damaging. It's quite awful to see such archaic viewpoints coming out of a first world and developed country like South Korea. This way of thinking is why abuses of all nature are not reported, but especially so coming from women and wives in households. I don't wish to elaborate further because this honestly would make me rage and cuss. This depiction of the aunt and mom being in the wrong for literally defending themselves is sickening and wrong. This is patriarchy at its finest, and S. Korea needs to do better as a society. It's effing shameful.
I want to make it very clear that just because someone is kind half, or even most of the time, but still abuses another creature, they are still trash and an abuser. They are not "complex" or "hard to understand" or "not like other people", they are a monster plain out and simple. And if you are an abuse victim or knows anybody that is, you have the right to defend yourself. You have the right to defend yourself and you do not deserve to be treated like this, ever. Just because you care for someone or they're sometimes nice, or even if you have a child/family together, it does not make their actions okay. They are a monster who needs to be stopped and doesn't deserve sympathy. Even if you do not want legal action to happen, even in jail there are ways for people like that to get psychological help to become better. Do not spend your life away and time you'll never get back by staying around an abuser. Get help and send secret messages if you must. Seriously, screw this show for promoting this sort of thinking.

The story gets such a middling review from me because it is really slow. I found myself falling asleep in the middle of episodes a LOT. I suppose this is good if you're looking to relax, but it also meant that some parts were honestly just a bit boring.
Eun Seop is gentle and sturdy. Where can I find an Eun Seop in my life? I understand completely how Hae Won feels warm when she is with him. Plus, Seo Kang Joon's EYES! They are a window to the soul. And I would be remiss not to mention how lovely it was to see Eun Seop and Hae Won smile. Both of them have killer smiles that "light up the whole world," and were rare enough for me to revel in the moments they appeared.
The supporting cast is loving and wonderful as well. I didn't grow up in a small town, but I understand the charm — especially as Jang Woo explained his life choices at the end. And I want to bundle up Seung Ho and take him with me. Hwi, her friend, and the LED light guy weren't my favourites, but that's okay.
Finally, this review would be incomplete if I didn't mention the masterful performance of the sisters. Their story was so important, and they played their parts well. I just wish we got more confirmation that they were taking care of themselves by the end. But as much as these women were fearless and portrayed important things, my favourite part was revelling in the sweet moments between Hae Won and Eun Seop. I can see myself revisiting their scenes together for a long time.

Exploring happiness through hardships.
When the Weather Is Fine is definitely a well crafted piece of cinematic art, but it’s not made for everyone. I don’t mean it in a snobbish, elitist way, it’s just really clear in what it wants to be, and it does not try to cater to all the viewers - you either take it or leave it, both decisions being equally valid.It’s an extremely slow paced character driven drama that is much darker than it might initially seem. Hardly any of the characters presented does not face serious problems and issues they have to overcome. It does present a few side stories tho, that can brighten the mood, making sure we won’t get depressed after finishing each episode.
The journey we take while the stories unfold might be sad and frustrating, since many of the characters are rather shielded, slowly learning how to open themselves to the possibility of happiness. It’s not a drama to watch for escapism.
Being perfectly honest, till the last episode, I did not find Hae Won to be a likeable person. She points out everyone's flaws, while not taking a step back to see things from other people's perspective herself. The fact she was so flawed, was exactly why I enjoyed the show so much. Each character presented a completely different perspective on life and relationships - each being right and wrong at the same time, depending on the perspective taken by the viewer.
When the Weather Is Fine is an aesthetic feast. All the shots capture that melancholic and slightly removed from reality feeling - making Bookhyun Village feel like its own world, separate from the fast paced reality we live in. The soundtrack added to that sentimental feeling, making a truly cohesive picture.
That said, it’s not a perfect show. The number of flashbacks was surprising, especially since the majority of them were copy-pasted the same, not presenting alternative perspectives or adding to previously presented events. Another aspect that bothered me was the sharp change of mood between scenes - we went from tragedy to teen slice of life comedy in a matter of seconds. In the end, for some scenes, I was neither able to explore the sadness, nor enjoy the silly happiness of what’s presented - it just clashed too much.
Acting wise, almost flawless. I am not sure if I completely bought Park Min Young’s portrayal of Hae Won. Logically speaking her story was full of sadness, yet I could not feel it on many occasions. I knew it was tragic, but I did not feel it.
Overall, I would recommend it to people who like slow paced, character driven shows. If you prefer fast paced plot driven dramas with many unexpected plot twists and thrilling feeling, you will most likely not enjoy it that much. It’s a bittersweet story that allows us to peek into the lives of the characters, without presenting a sharp beginning nor the end.

Slow but good
This was a really really sloooooow show. BUT it had a lot if heart to the story that kept you wanting to finish it.Story- I liked the story. It was slow but it played out and finished off nicely. I think I felt sorry the most for the sisters. What they did and had to deal with. It would have been hard for anyone to go through that. The younger sister had a huge weight on her shoulders and now that I know what really happened I can understand her character better. I am glad to see that Hae Won came back to stay. It had a nice ending and did not leave me hanging or wishing for more. I will be honest... I did start to watch it and stopped for a month. I did forget about it so to me it is not a show I would go out of my way to see again. I am not one for slow shows like this.
Acting/cast- Park Min-Young is one of my most favorite actresses. She is very talented. I first saw her in “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” (watched twice now) and “Her Private Life” is one of my most favorite shows of all time. She did a great job in this show also. The rest of the cast did a great job.
Rewatch? I don’t know. I would really have to be wanting a slow paced show. I really don’t see that happening again. Lol we will see.

Beautiful Story
An incredibly beautiful drama and story. I enjoyed every single moment of this drama. I loved how it portrayed relationships and how one lives their life. Every character was unique in their own way, and I was engaged in each one of their stories, whether it was the main characters or the supporting characters. Because Eun Seop and Hae won are such raw people with raw emotions, I was able to really engage with them and come to love them. I love their relationship and love how they defined things like warmth, love and happiness. Both characters made me love Park Min Young and Seo Kang Joon even more! I loved each one of the supporting characters, as they brought a light-heartedness to the drama and added even more warmth to it. I especially loved Jang Woo, he's so cute and I think Lee Jae-Wook did an incredible job portraying him!! Myeong Yeo is another character that really made kept me engaged throughout the whole drama, as she was such an interesting character to watch because of who she had become and how she had became that person. The setting was incredible. By the end of the drama, I came to love Hodu House and the Goodnight Bookstore, both places in their own ways reflecting the people that lived in them in, and making the drama very visually appealing to watch. The warmth of the bookstore reflected the warmth in Eun Seop, and the cold feeling that Hodu House gave off, was reflected in Hae Won, and her aunt and mother. Also, the town in which this drama was set in, was an incredible bonus to it, as it very much added to the drama visually. It also added a simplicity to the it that helped us stay grounded in the story that was being told. It made me want to live in a Korean town like that someday, and experience the simple everyday life that the townsfolk got to experience and live in the tight-knit community they lived in . Everything about this drama was wonderful, it made me cry, smile and laugh. It made me feel warm and fuzzy, and gave me hope! it’s like, fine i guess
why is everyone saying that this show is so slow paced?? it really wasn’t. (although things kind of dragged off to useless storylines in the end.) i don’t believe this was a slow burn at all, and believe me, i’ve seen slow burn. episode 8 is early for leads to get together and honestly they went together pretty easily.about the story, i’ll be short. it was fine, i liked it i guess. nothing was really stand out to me except that of the storyline of hae won’s family, and i think the aunt and the mom were great actresses and had astounding performances.
everything else was like fine, i didn’t care about any of the characters (but that’s just me lol i never care about anyone) but i did like the aunt and jang woo was cute.
honestly if you like cozy sets and sad backstories and useless endings and a lot of other quirky characters you might like this drama.

a missed target
a young woman return to her parental village after a professional issue. there she manage to de-tangle all the relationships she had when she was young.that's a difficult review. the drama had everything in the beginning, but for one reason or an other I kept lowering the ranking till 5/10. I love the actors, the 2 ML are one of my favorites. the casting is ok, the acting too, the story is fine too, some people had hard time with the slow pace but I didn't. it's very slow though, for you to know. I think that my biggest issue is the disappointing ending. actually not only in the end, but all the time, everything is half-done. and I really can't stand that. you love someone or you don't, you apologize or you don't, you forgive or you don't, you stop a relationship or you don't. but in this drama, everybody seems to live half-way. and that's very frustrating for me. so I didn't like it and ended up disappointed. romanticism or poetry don't cover the cowardliness of the characters.
when to watch? if you like lukewarm situations, be my guest.

warmness in the cold winter
i'm pretty sure everyone is aware that this drama is slow-paced but it is definitely not in the painful & boring way (at least to me) . i felt warmness during the main lead's scenes. i'm not sure how to put it in words but they just felt Warm but in a sad way. maybe I feel like this because of how much minyoung overused this word lol but its true ! i don't really vibe with slice of life dramas but this one was pretty good. the story between her mother & aunt was so... Whew.. but it got draggy at a point. I feel like a lot of issues could've been resolved earlier but they just dragged it to the end. could've cut out the staring scenes.it was rare to see a moment between the main leads where they are just _enjoying_ themselves and they dont smile and laugh a lot.. nor go on dates.. very melo and sad they both are.. anyways enough about them we're moving on to JANGWOO and EUNSIL my god they are the highlight of this drama to me . jangwoo's character is so lovable i love him so much not bc im jaewook biased obvi but omg he gets shy and stutters whenever hes around eunsil and blushes a lot .. and eunsil teasing him .. i wish they showed us more of them idrc if they overpowered the main couple bc theyre both genuinely interesting characters that i would like to see more of but :| it was cut short.
overall its not a bad drama nor its something id recommend to everyone. its quite enjoyable but gets a little too much at times despite being slow paced. theres a few unecessary scenes here and there but yea overall it was okay and the side characters existence def light up this drama.

Just falling deep into a story
The lovely portatraial of countryside. The story filled with emotion and depth. Some scenerioes are realistic some are imaginary but it all conveys it's message properly. It's a slow slice of life, some psychological real life stuff too, I am drawn to the story and characters even though it's a slow drama, beware. Genuine love story and genuine story of healing and growth. Well it might not suite the taste of teenagers or some others but for me personally as I have lived through that shy, introvert experience, I can say like it. Music is so soothing and the vibe and cinematography is on point. Some things can be done other way but it's just personal what fits one person might not suite other so no drama can be all perfect. The comfort you need
When The Weather Is Fine like the title is so completely beautiful, peaceful and comforting. Warm like a hug on a winters day. This drama makes me want to pack up my bags move to the cold country side and find a short romance with a stranger. I really truly love this drama and wish that you do too. This is a drama you watch during the freezing winter with a warm cup of tea.With a wonderful and striking performance from Park Min-young. Seo Kang-joon is a dreamy as ever <3 side characters are extremely charming and make this little moments so wonderful!!
