consent, consent, consent...
This story brings real problematics about traumatisms, wich is an unusual theme so I liked it and I loved the plot twist. Actors are good and that's why the feelings are transmitted to us easily, whether it's sadness or love. Sex scenes are probably ones of the sexiest of all bl series and it's mostly because of the wonderful chemistry between MewGulfThe extreme negative points that comes to darkens this beautiful story is the fact that TharnType are really too jealous from one another and it's toxic. Also, the fact that Tharn actually force his desire on Type at the beginning made me extremely uncomfortable.
PS: People really need to STOP saying they understand the antagonist, you clearly wouldn't say that if he wasn't handsome so stop being hypocrite. He is a douchebag!

Sproloqui prima di andare a nanna
Questa recensione mi è molto difficile da scrivere. Ieri sera ho finito di leggere la novel da cui è stata tratta questa serie iconica e, nonostante mi sia fatta una grassa risata (e dopo aver chiesto il reso dei miei nove euro), posso dire che questa è una storia proprio, ma proprio brutta. Brutta brutta brutta.TharnType è considerata la “ciliegina sulla torta” delle serie BL Tailandesi, e se ti è piaciuta la serie buon per te! A me francamente no, ma è un altro discorso, possiamo comunque essere amici.
Leggere la novel è stato un parto gemellare, ma è per via della combo letale dislessia + orrori grammaticali (no, seriamente, chiunque sia stato a tradurre deve ricevere una multa salatissima; tra il passaggio dalla prima persona alla terza NELLA STESSA SENTENZA a tutte le volte che un personaggio veniva misgenderato — he/him a she/her — e alla costruzione grammaticale dove i verbi e i soggetti e i complementi venivano sbarellati in tutte le direzioni… NON MERITI I MIEI SOLDI)
… però se ci fosse stata una rivisitazione seria e non approssimativa, poteva uscire un prodotto sicuramente migliore.
Perché? Lo spiego in breve. TharnType a differenza di Not Me e Bad Buddy — ma come altre serie ispirate da libri — è un riadattamento *fedele*: stessi personaggi, stesso universo, stesse catastrofi. Ogni scena tra la coppia protagonista presente è presente nel libro.
Vorrei comunque soffermarmi a parlare di due situazioni in particolare:
1) Type non viene indicato come un “omofobo” ma come un “sessista” e… no, sono due cose differenti, perché mai gli dèi delle parole avrebbero creato due termini per specificare lo stesso concetto? Type è omofobo, punto, non riempiamo di zucchero il cucchiaio per addolcire la pillola: non è il primo omofobo di questo pianeta e non sarà l’ultimo, solo perché poi diventerà gay non significa che non abbia avuto pensieri maligni verso altri omosessuali che non sono Tharn — sì, perché la storia è che Type odia i gay, ma è gay per l’uccello di Than, il solo e unico.
2) Tharn è per metà Tailandese e per metà Americano (bianco) e mi ha fatto una rabbia leggere la scena di quando porta una torta a Type, e quest’ultimo — insopportabile in TUTTO il libro — fa un commento tristissimo:
Tharn: *regala torta al cioccolato come pegno di scuse* Non volevo offenderti, Type. Ho pensato che la torta al cioccolato ti si addica.
Type: Perché sono nero? Sei solo un cinguettante straniero.
Nella traduzione viene utilizzato il termine *black*, e mi chiedo… Khun Mame: 1) sei Tailandese 2) hai volutamente creato un personaggio che descrivi come pallido (Type) perché lo vuoi far passare per nero?????? 3) vuoi far arrivare questa uscita infelice da parte di un ragazzo che è per metà Tailandese, di cultura Tailandese, con costumi Tailandese… ma che vuoi comunque definire “straniero” (con accezione negativa). Nella sua testa doveva essere una battuta divertente — a me ha fatto sbellicare non perché fosse spassosa, ma perché ha voluto aggiungere del razzismo in una situazione dove non ci stava.
Tharn che Type sono insopportabili, sia nel libro e di conseguenza sia nella serie. Trovo che i loro personaggi siano bidimensionali: non hanno nulla di attraente nella personalità, se non il fatto che sono declamati da tutti come due persone di bell’aspetto — cosa che però non riguarda la personalità, quindi sorvoliamo. Non hanno qualità, non hanno pregi, le uniche due passioni che vengono specificate sono la musica per Tharn e il calcio per Type, ma non sappiamo nient’altro.
Non riesco ad entrare in empatia con loro, neppure con Type che ha subito un trauma infantile che l’ha portato a odiare gli omosessuali — da fanciullo è stato abbindolato da un lavoratore ingaggiato dal padre che l’ha legato e toccato.
È giusto empatizzare con lui, ma mi è proprio difficile dal momento che questa storiellina è stata buttata lì SOLO per trovare un motivo per fargli odiare i gay: non poteva essere un semplice omofobo ignorante, no, Khun Mame doveva inserire l’abuso infantile per poi abbandonarlo dopo che Tharn e Type hanno rapporti sessuali frequenti e con discorsi del tipo… che già dopo il loro secondo incontro fisico parlano di non usare il preservativo e se ne vanno in ospedale come una coppietta per fare dei test. Il senso? Vuoi creare un personaggio che ha ricevuto molestie sessuali in età giovane da parte di un uomo adulto, e lo rendi subito a suo agio con il sesso con il suo compagno di stanza gay che per giunta detesta? Questa è logica.
Superare un trauma è una buona cosa: affrontare i demoni del passato, non cedere alla depressione, risollevarsi dopo un brutto periodo… peccato che Type e la sua famiglia NON abbia denunciato il molestatore — per timore che fosse passato per una povera vittima… cosa che lo è — e che non abbia fatto alcuna terapia per metabolizzare il trauma subito e proseguire la propria vita con un tenore migliore.
È inconcepibile che proprio Type stesso — il ragazzo che ha subito molestie — decide di concedere a Tharn la propria verginità anale per non essere in debito con lui (non starò a spiegare il motivo, ma Tharn lo aiuta a risolvere una questione e Type non vuole dovergli nulla).
Type è veramente un personaggio scorbutico e non ha una sola qualità per poterci coltivare affetto: oltre ad essere chiamato costantemente “bello”, ha una ristretta schiera di amici e OGNI volta che deve interagire con altri esseri umani sembra abbia la scopa su per il culo… la timidezza non è la fine del mondo, se non fosse scritto sulla locandina che è un tipo spigliato e amichevole. Bho. E per non parlare di quanto sia violento — sia verbalmente che fisicamente, non so voi, ma se bisticcio con degli amici o con la compagna non mi metto a tirare ceffoni o pugni per far valere la mia opinione… cosa che Type fa più di una volta.
Sapete quando era giustificato ad usare la violenza? Quando Tharn — dopo aver scoperto che il suo compagno di camera è un etero omofobo — abusa sessualmente di lui… massì! Diamo al personaggio con precedente trauma psicologico e fisico motivo di interfacciarsi con uno stronzo che gli forza la propria sessualità masturbandolo senza il suo consenso. E con il termine abuso non intendo solo il fatto che lo tocchi ripetutamente senza il suo volere, ma intendo anche dalle puttanate che gli dice, di quanto “sia bravo a letto e che presto lo scoprirà…” e tutto questo i produttori l’hanno fatto passare come cosa sensuale e per far bagnare il pubblico di ragazzine che si strappano i capelli per le ship homo.
Tharn è il personaggio che meno ho apprezzato, ha questo alone di perfezione che lo circonda — decantato da terzi — che risulta stucchevole. Una scena che ho odiato — penso nessuno abbia messo in luce — è come la sorellina, Thanya, lo veda come un Dio sceso in terra: questa stronzetta con la puzza sotto il naso, dalla famiglia ricca, un fratello maggiore che le insegna la nobile arte del pianoforte e con occhi solo per l’altro fratello fuori casa per l’università. Non ricordo quanti anni abbia esattamente, ma è in età prepuberale; ha un atteggiamento da principessina sul pisello e risponde malissimo a Thorn, il fratello maggiore, solo perché lo spettatore deve vedere quanto Tharn sia perfetto!!!!! Un bravo fratello!!!!!! Un bravo figlio!!!!!! Perché Tharn è meglio di Thorn, Tharn è speciale e Thorn no, Tharn sa suonare la batteria, Tharn ama la musica, Tharn ha una band, etc, etc. Thanya è solo una viziatella ed è inutile alla trama. Quando un personaggio non aggiunge nulla alla storia, vuol dire che è inutile: Tharn potrebbe anche essere figlio unico che questa storia andrebbe avanti.
La scelta degli attori è oltremodo ridicola: due ragazzi diciottenni che vengono interpretati da adulti che non sembrano affatto adolescenti… uno quasi trentenne (all’epoca delle riprese) e l’altro che nonostante sia agli inizi della ventina, ne dimostra mooooolti di più. I MewGulf sono tra le coppie più shippate dai vari stan del web, ma questo lo so per la valanga di video correlati durante la settimana in cui ho fatto binge-watching. Tuttavia, dopo aver letto il libro, potrei quasi affermare che non siano i volti giusti per il tipo di personaggi descritti. Tharn doveva essere un ragazzo Tailandese e Americano, ma posso comprendere che non ci possa essere molta richiesta nell’ambito attoriale al momento.
La recitazione *non* è il massimo; per quanto mi vogliono far credere (: i miei amici appassionati del drama, specifico) che mentre si baciano, copulano e fanno le coccole sembrano veramente affiatati, ai miei occhi non è così. Qua parte uno dei miei primi pregiudizi, ossia che Gulf, l’attore di Type, mi ricorda un personaggio di qualche vignetta di Tullio Altan, e non riesco a prenderlo seriamente. Purtroppo, al povero Type gli vengono affibbiati appellativi femminili — questa cosa roleplay moglie/marito solo perché sono fissi nella posizione top/bottom deve finire, le coppie non hanno questo standard “uomo/donna”, è una etero-normativa che mi disgusta: essere donna esattamente cosa significa? Comportarsi da isterica come fa Type? Essere colui che lo prende nel didietro?
La verità è che questo è un prodotto per tutte quelle fujoshi/fundanshi che hanno una visione per il mondo queer come scenario per le loro fantasie sessuali. Noi gay abbiamo il diritto di avere una rappresentanza sullo schermo quanto gli etero, ma è dannoso pensare alla comunità Lgbtq+ come pozzo per parafilie decorate da abusi.
L’uomo che ha abusato di Type non è una merda poiché gay, ma è una merda per aver abusato di una persona, con l’aggravante che l’abusato si trattava un ragazzino; NESSUNO nella serie ha fatto accenno a questo… solo al fatto che fosse un uomo con perversioni verso gli uomini.
Se volete farvi una risata, comprate il libro formato kindle su Amazon: preferisco leggere delle seghe mentali di una donna adulta su due ragazzi piuttosto che pensare che da tale sega sia stata sviluppata un’intera serie di successo per i motivi sbagliati.

SEXUAL ASSUALT:
I'm not even gonna make it nicer than that it is. Type had a trauma because he was raped and Tharn dares to kiss him without consent even though Tharn didn't know it at that time he had no right to kiss him without consent. Than had also no valid reason to give Type hickeys to scare or "prank" him it's sexual assault. Tharn could of course help Type when he was sick but he shouldn't cross boundaries. I can get why typed slapped Tharn in the face when Tharn tried to console Type when he was sick, Tharn crossed boundaries before and Type didn't like that and his way is using violent I'm not saying slapping someone is a good solution but I get Type.
TYPE'S TRAUMA:
I was surprised it had a emotional and sensitive subject as rape in it and I hoped they would use it good IT WAS A BIG DISAPOINTMENT he got one blowjob from Tharn and suddenly he doesn't have a trauma anymore I wish it was that easy (pls teach me Type) AND HE ASKED TO HAVE SEXS TO GET OVER WITH IT!!!! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
TYPE'S TOXIC BEHAVIOR:
I also hated how people made his actions all seem good just because he had "anger issues" people aren't that acceptable in real life and I speak from experience. Some of those actions would any person do in that position but most of them not. The main reason why I'm annoyed at Types behavior is that he never apologized.
NO ACTUAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:
They are both selfish people when they started in the serie and when the series ended. It looks like the only care about sex and that's it even though the actors have amazing chemistry together. They should have put more romantical stuf in the series the actors would have portraid that amazing. The writer of TharnType made it look like gays only care about sex while that's not the case most of the time. Just like how they pull the "I only like this man" Type doesn't need to label himself gay there isn't only "gay, bisexual and straight" there are so many more sexualities or he could just choose not to label himself. Tharn also just let Type hit, kick, punch and push him he needs to learn to stand up for himself but nothing of that happend in the whole series he just kept putting up with it. How cheesy Tharn was I wanted to puke so many times and how we was being so horny all the time being a bit horny is fine but the only thing that went on in his head was sex.
LHONG'S DISCUSTING BEHAVIOR:
HOW TF DID HE NOT END UP IN JAIL FOR WHAT HE DID?!?!?!?!
He almost murdered Type for what because he could get his friend the way he wanted. He also payed people to rape a young boy?!?!?! The series also tried to make us feel sorry for him. The actor who played Lhong is an amazing actor but the character he plays is just horrible.
REASON WHY I WATCHED WHILE I HATED IT:
The reason that I watched this is because it was populair and because of the actors. Mew do be playing in problematic series first in What The Duck and What the Duck 2: Final Call that was one big dissater and now TharnType I feel bad for Mew he has so much potential as actor just as Gulf they are both to good actors to act in such series

Definitely worthwile and deserving of season 2!
The character development is so damn good! The acting is incredible too, seeing Gulf play Type and then watching his insta lives shows how well he really portrays Type! Mew is such an amazing actor aswell and lets not forget about Llong's actor (forgot his name?) the tears just flow right out of his eyes like it was nothing! They all are so damn good and made my gay heart yeet itself out the window. The story is really interesting too, Type's history made me cry and how Type reacts when he thinks about it is so damn heartbreaking. Anyways I think you should 100% watch this drama if you don't mind seeing a lot intimate scenes and some potentially triggering scenes. It is totally worth it but don't say I didn't warn you. I loved this serie so much that I got so excited for the release of the next episode although I'm normally a calm person. I fell in love with the main couple TharnType (MewGulf) and just could,'t get enough of them they were just so lovely and sweet together. During the whole serie I was able to feel every single emotion they acted and believed it to 100% percent because their acting was so great.To be honest I still can't think of a reason why Tharn would love a guy with a charakter like Type but if you like some guys with a badass and hot-blooded temper it's possible. I was so glad that both of them got a happy end together even though i would have been happy to see even more of Tharn (Mew) and Type (Gulf).

Let's start on how much popularity this series has gained throughout the last months. I have to say that they did an spectacular work on this specific series, even if it was low cost it was truly the best BL I have ever seen and I have seen A LOT of them.They has a kiss scene from episode 4 in all episodes, they even kissed twice an episode, the hot scenes were good (the best ones I have seen in an oriental {thai} bl).
The two main leads Mew Suppasit and Gulf Kanawat did an extremely impressive work, they do HAVE great chemistry they worked really hard to perform their characters and tried to represent them as in the book.
Even though this is the first time Gulf work as main lead he did a great job and left us with hanging mouths, he truly did his best and it shows.
The story was very good, very similar to the one in the book (some hot scenes were modified) but it was well developed and with an spectacular ending.
They even gifted us with a second special episode which will be released soon for international fans to watch it
I really hope for #MewGulf to have more projects together and for a season 2 of this one in particular.

Pros: the ost for tharntype was on another level and it's been almost a month since it finished airing and I'm still humming it.
The recasts were well done. I enjoyed this Type more, not that Earth isn't an incredible and underrated actor, but he was very expressive and although his behavior in the beginning was infuriating, he had a gentle air about him that made him alluring. Techno's new actor was also great. I enjoy seeing the actor in other roles but this might have been his best yet.
Cons: the only downside i would give is that the plot became repetitive at points. Episodes 5 through 10 seemed to all be the same "Type gets mad at Tharn or hurts Tharn's feelings, he gets told he's being a jerk, he feels bad, he apologizes, all is forgiven" it would have benefited from less of that.
Overall: I enjoyed the serious and would love to get some more content.

SO AMAZING!
This is the first ever BL I watched. I just happened to come across a small part of this on TikTok and was hooked immediately.Now going into this show I had no idea what it was about. I did not look anything up, I didn't know who the actors were, I had never even heard of BL series before I watched this.
So in the beginning, when Type first says he hates gays, I honestly didn't know where this story was going until his friend Techno came in saying his roommate was gay. This series took off fast with Type trying to shove Tharn out because he hated him for being gay. Tharn's counterattack was epic. And you know when the music dropped that things were about to get real. Ha ha. I'll admit, I was a little put out that he was so biased and we didn't even know why... until Type got sick and he had his nightmare... I had a inkling of the issue but didn't want to assume.
Needless to say when it came out he was molested, I cried along with him. The fact that even though Tharn knew Type hated him, he still comforted him. Then those other gay characters interfered and things got crazy, but Tharn once again stepped in and helped.
I won't continue to add spoilers. All I have to say, is that the acting was amazing. I could literally feel the emotions like to was happening to me, it was that good. The music, the story, the whole dang production of this series was amazing. I also enjoyed how they added in the goofy little noises and everything with certain scenes that made it that much better.
I've already watched this series 3 times in the month since I started, so yes, 10/10 would watch again. I hope everyone else enjoys it.

I have watched a feew thai bl's and I must say, Tharntype must definitely be my favourite one! The chemistry of Mew and Gulf is off charts, seriously, I don't think I have seen a couple with that much chemistry on or off screen!
The story was pretty good, I think the main plot wasn't super original or something, but kept me interested in watching. The acting of the main actors was perfect! Really good casting, the main actors' chemistry was what probably got me so interested in this drama.
I definitely would recommend this bl, it was one of the best dramas have watched and if you like romantic scenes, you're definitely gonna love Tharntype!

La popularité de TharnType ? L'alchimie du duo principal et c'est tout...
Il est difficile de passer à côté de ce drama. Qu'on regarde des productions asiatiques depuis dix ans ou deux mois (surtout avec une affection pour les histoires d'amour entre garçons), la série TharnType finit toujours par faire parler d'elle. Son succès est pourtant discutée ces dernières années (et ce n'est pas trop tôt).La recette n'est pas très originale. Deux gars qui n'ont rien en commun se retrouvent à partager une chambre à l'université. L'un est gay, l'autre est homophobe. Les débuts sont chaotiques et lentement le drama en devient indigeste avec des mesures et des actions complètement disproportionnées. À quel moment forcer quelqu'un a avoir une relation intime est saint ? Type est un vrai con, c'est un fait. Tandis que Tharn est un forceur. Ça laisse une bonne idée du duo qu'on va suivre.
L'histoire est simple. Au moins, ça nous évite les intrigues tirés par les cheveux ou les questions sans réponses.
Mais alors pourquoi ce drama est-il si populaire ? Et bien, pour l'alchimie entre Tharn et Type, tout simplement. Peu importe qu'on aime ou non le drama, on ne peut nier le fait que Mew et Gulf sont excellents à l'écran. Cependant, il faudra des efforts pour les apprécier (et cela n'arrive qu'en fin de saison).
À voir ce qu'il en sera de la deuxième saison.

Maldición, los actores son lindos :')
Es una de esas series con momentos realmente bonitos (los actores ayudaron mucho, no nos engañemos), aunque me dio pena tener que, en ocasiones, echarle imaginación al desarrollo emocional de los personajes o ver actitudes realmente tóxicas entre los protagonistas. La recomiendo para pasar un rato tierno; las personalidades son fuertes y las escenas íntimas están muy bien actuadas ✨, los productores también hicieron su trabajo con un puñado de planos realmente aesthetics e incluso los deslices del cast le dan un aspecto tímido a las escenas que te saca una sonrisa (o una carcajada si eres como yo :D)Esta resenha foi útil para você?

A bit overrated
The show was hyped up so I thought it would be better. Plus, I like MewGulf, but I don't particularly like TharnType. Type is a terrible boyfriend and is so rude to Tharn. I don't like his character. Like at sometimes they're cute, but then other times it's like really? Like that one time where he punched Tharn, even though he clearly saw Sarn kiss Tharn? Like what was that about? Type has some issues, and their relationship overall was toxic. Also, I don't really like that they tried to justify Lhong's actions at the end, because what he did to Tar was terrible. Maybe that's not what the director and writer meant at all, but that's how I felt. Anyways, I don't completely hate the show, but it's not all it's hyped up to be. I liked the new Techno and the other side characters. i also like Tharn, except the fact that he was a pushover. I also loved the OST, I still listen to it. TBH, I feel like the toxicness and the issues kind of got overshadowed by the sex/kiss scenes and the handsome actors.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
