Well, this is the first and probably only review I'll ever write because I just have to say: I adore this movie. It is my favorite movie ever. Where to even start?

This movie is not a comedy. Although there are some funny moments, it is a very deep, beautiful, and touching story. I don't think anyone but Yeo Jin-Goo could have so thoroughly brought Soo-Myung to life - his every expression is PERFECT and seriously this boy tells stories without ever opening his mouth. His character is the perfect foil for Lee Min-Ki's Seung-Min, and their bromantic chemistry is just amazing.

The way the two main characters interact and influence each other leads to perfectly executed character development. I'm trying to write a serious review here but all I want to do is gush endlessly. This is very much a character-driven movie, but the pacing is just right, and you certainly won't ever be bored!

I have a weakness for stories focusing on friendship and another weakness for anything psychology related. I think the way the film handles the topic of mental illness is appropriate - it shows you hardships but it also doesn't leave you feeling hopeless.

It doesn't get too into detail with the side characters and their problems, but instead focuses on Soo-Myung and Seung-Min's issues and growth, which I actually think is a good thing, because it allowed them to fully develop - which is not to say the supporting characters are flat, because they aren't, and they are able to shine in their own right without taking the spotlight away from the mains.

When it comes to write down a plot about struggling youth most of screenwriters tend to just talk about “young love” or “first love”.
Youth is not just that.
This movie it’s a slap in the face of the pretty rotten system called “mental health clinics”.
When you ask someone what “depression” or “mental diseases” are they just tell you “crazy people who are mad as hell.”
This movie portray all of this stereotypes and clean them up at the same time.
The two main characters are basically opposed to each other.
Lee Ming Ki play a pretty easy going boy who can be described as “eccentric” by society but, when it comes to a mental health institute, he’s portray as “a crazy arsonist”.
He was sent to a clinic just because he had some issues going on with his father’s inheritance so his brothers locked him there just to get all the money for themselves.
Jingoo character is a nice boy who suffers from a big trauma and now he can’t face a normal life. Not because he can’t but because he doesn’t want to.
The movie’s peace is really catching. You are tangled up with all the minor characters stories.
The main cast is superb.
Amazing actors with amazing acting skills, JinGoo is so young yet he’s basically the most talented young actor in Korea.
MingKi never fails to impress me.
He can act all different kind of roles and he never get boring.
Usually I think that Korean movies force you to cry even when the plot doesn’t need it.
They just make up some teary scenes just to make you sympathize with the characters and the story.
In this case it doesn’t happen.
When you cry you do it because the scenes are really touching and not exaggerated.
It might be a pretty simple plot but at the end it makes you realize that maybe we are all like JinGoo’s character.
Just young people afraid of built up something with our own straight because we fear adult life and the world itself.
Amazing movie, I would recommend it to everyone who like touching and simple stories.

Wow. Not to be racist or anything, but I didn't know that Asians could make good movies. I mean I love their dramas (specifically korean dramas), but the movies I've seen haven't been that good...Apparently I've been watching all the wrong movies lol.

Story: Fairly simple, about two boys in a psychiatric ward (one unfairly put in, another "insane") who become friends. It's about their struggles and friendship, and how they overcome it in the end. The simplicity is what makes this story great. This is a movie you watch when you're feeling down and just need a beautiful story to cheer you up.

Characters: Imma split this up cuz they're all amazing
-Soo Myung: oh gosh, he was so adorable. I loved how as the movie went on he got more courage and found the meaning in life. I just absolutely loved him, and loved watching him grow! Also played by Jin Goo and great acting, gosh there's one scene towards the end, and ugh my heart! Anyway, great story, character, and acting.
-Seung Min: he was a surprise, I have never seen this actor before and he did a great job portraying his character. He really brightened up the ward, and I loved seeing how he impacted all the characters. Also love his bromance with Soo Myung, so cute! Also the fact that he acts gay (or maybe is gay...?) is fricking hilarious, haha I love this kid so much
Side Characters: I loved all the ward patients, they were so adorable and I just wanted to hug all of them. Honestly their characters are tragic, because while they have some issues, they're getting treated in all the wrong ways, and it just makes their condition worse. My heart goes out to them!
-Hospital Workers: they make you think about what's good for mental patients, and if treating them like they're mental makes them mental, or were they born mental? Anyway, they really treated the patients terribly and did a good job of making you mad

Music: There was music in this movie!! And they used it well!! Sorry the other Asian movies I've seen have little to no music, to the point where its distracting if that makes sense. I thought this was definitely a step up ;)

Ending:
No spoilers, but overall I liked the ending, it wasn't exactly what I expected but it was beautiful all the same. Definitely made you feel good :)

Would I rewatch?? Definitely! Actually requested this movie for my birthday, that's how good it was.

Overall, I would totally recommend this movie! It is very inspiring and just makes you feel amazing on the inside!

Shooting my heart dead

Where do I even start? The storytelling was superb. How the first person POV fits the whole narrative will always get me. I watched this twice already yet still felt the same pain. So much more pain, even. This film literally shot my heart dead. Twice.

I love how they used the scenes to evoke specific emotions from the audience. Scenes that are so mundane, so natural, so human. Not a thread of forced sympathy was weaved in this beauty of a story. The message was quite subtle and fragile (you just want to take care of it and watch it evolve/unfold), but the way they portrayed it was loud. Loud with reality, not with noise.

Also, the actors were stellar! They brought the characters to life. They have this nuance and amazing understanding of the characters’ core and embodied that for the world to see.

Need I say more? Because. I cried. A lot. More than a lot.

I watched this over almost a year ago and loved it. The acting was amazing and I'm hoping there will be a sequel but I doubt it. The actors played their roles very well and it pulled me in. I wanted to keep watching. It made my heart race at some parts. It made me laugh, it made me cry. It made me feel many emotions. It's a drama that contains real-life mental illnesses such as schizophrenia (like mentioned in the movie's plot description).  Even though it has some sad parts, it also had happy parts. If you're someone who likes psychological drams like this then I'd say this is the drama for you.

This movie definitely put me through the wringer! But it was so worth it. I love Yeo Jin-goo but I've been obsessed with Lee Minki ever since Monster. He's such a gorgeous person and a phenomenal actor. His eyes, his face, everything reacts to the scene. Watching him with another beautiful actor Yeo Jin-goo meant no matter what happens there was no turning back. The story is about one boy who voluntarily admitted himself to a mental asylum (Yeo Jin-goo), the one who always follows rules and still gets bullied by the awful orderly; and another boy Lee Minki who has been brought in by force and he claims there's nothing wrong with him but no one believes him. By the time Yeo Jin-goo realizes Lee Minki truly doesn't belong there, things have already gotten out of hands . It's dark, and funny, and emotional. It will make you think. It will make you root for these two above all. Must watch!

The story is poignant and yet so beautiful. Friendship and brotherhood formed by the 2 main lead in an unconventional place and time. This is rather very painful to watch becoz of how they were treated inside the mental institution, I bet this things definitely happening in some places. This is an eye-opener indeed.

Acting wise, of course, there's no question if it's Yeo jin-goo and Lee Min ki, both are crème de la crème of kdrama world. The supporting casts did an excellet job as well. The story is a roller coaster ride, so be prepared.

BIT EMOTIONAL AND FUN ROLLAR COASTER

Two guys meeting in a Mental hospital as a patients. The bonding between the two ML is worth watch. This movie has a strange and unique story plot.

Main leads acting is really good. Even supporting characters also did their job well. backdrop remainded me "Its ok not to be ok" drama.
I watched Lee min ki in "This is my first life" drama as a weird ,shy ,introvert character.
This drama character of him is totally opposite to that. He is really mischievous and fun to watch in this movie.

I can say its a worth a one time watch. U can try

No need for spoiler since the story is as simple as stated in the plot.
It's the type of movie that I might forget but also the reason why I'd want to rewatch it.
I actually watched it before and I felt like I had deja vu. Looking at my watchlist, I confirmed that it was already marked as watched. Regardless, the beauty of not remembering the details fully makes the movie had me the feel to it. Great movie dedicated for struggling youth.

Also, great casting. As expected from Jin Goo and Min Ki. Even the supporting roles are well casted. If this is a series, pretty sure that there will be more side stories about the people in the ward and how they ended up there which I like since it's like listening to other people's real life stories

¿Ya dije lo mucho que amo a Lee Min Ki?

¡Hallo, hallo!
