Story (8/10): The story is not new. Kang Yu (played by Dongho) learnt a rare technique in boxing and started to defend himself on the streets. The feeling of heartbeat in his chest has made him feel alive again, so he decided to remain on the streets and fight. The whole drama seems very slow, and i think it is done on purpose, to get you in the thinking mood of the hero. He thinks a lot about everything, and that made me understand him even more. There wasn't much told about the hero's, or any of the characters', background because they wanted u to be wondering about the hero. To try to figure out his psychological mind. To actually think about the drama and figure out why all of this is done like this or that...
Acting (7/10): The cast were all great. They've done their job skillfully. They didn't exaggerate or underestimate their roles. Dongho couldn't be like the Korean Kristen Steward because the American Kristen Steward didn't play a boxer in the korean streets. BTW, I don't think that the American Kristen Steward can actually pull of a scared/ serious face like Dongho.
Music (9/10): As the fighting scenes are really exciting and pulling, u might not be able to listen to the background soundtrack, but the Music is awesomly enjoable and fits greatly in the drama..
Rewatch value (8/10)
Overall, i recommended for thinking people, who are willing to actually think about the drama and don't just watch for entertainment. If u r not willing to think- and am not saying it's a bad thing and am not against it or anything, am just saving your time- please drop this drama
BTW* : By The Way

If I say anything else - I'll give it away. It's worth the gripping story, trust me!

You have a little girl that can predict the future in her nightmares and a teacher who is a psychopath and finds herself having to help this little girl and the students in her class, even if reluctantly, since each dream normally concerns at least one of her students. But what makes this show so interesting is the mystery that surrounds each dream. As one would expect from a dream, things are not clear as water, and trying to find the meaning behind all symbolism and riddles keeps the mystery till the end of the episode.
But the mystery does not end in each episode. All the characters have a really intriguing personality and past story that will make you hooked. And here the acting is really important. I found Kitagawa’s acting to be the most memorable. Her character that started as a really cheerful teacher who was actually a pessimist unable to trust people suffered a drastic change in personality over the stories and she was really able to portray it. The little girl that played Yuiko also did a good job, although sometimes, especially in the beginning, I could not really feel her emotions, but maybe that was how it was supposed to be. Even Gackt, whom I had never seen in a drama, surprised me in a good way. The way I felt about his character changed so many times in the drama, and sometimes within the same episode, that I found myself confused. Well, at least the fact that you can drool at him never changes. :p
Even the ending left things really well wrapped up and you felt a sense of completion. However, I would not mind having at least a special, but I will not spoil that.
Overall this is really a heart-warming drama, with you feeling sympathy for the students themselves who all have a distinct personality, while also being a mystery drama that will always keep you wondering what will happen next. What else can they do to surprise you?

Okay wait - there was one thing I didn't like about the drama and unfortunately it has to do with the ending. Still - that didn't ruin how much I love the drama, so maybe it won't bother you all as much as it did me? Aside from that, however, it was an awesome drama and I will continue to love it.
Also? Jealousy + Hyun Bin = ?

His trips back in time are pretty much always successful but I guess Yi Seul never seems to be satisfied [like most of girls do, j/k :p] Therefore, is never successful in preventing her marrying Coach-uh on returning to the present.
You're always anticipating the next episode as you want to know the end if he's going to get the girl or not. I stopped an episode half way and went to sleep as I was so mad that he couldn't get the girl, AGAIN! Since it had such a profound effect on me, I LIKE THIS DRAMA. The effect was also probably due to Yoo Seung Ho being the lead ;D
Sometimes there is way too much baseball in the episode but it is a baseball related drama so it can be forgiven.
All in all a fun drama to watch. Enjoy ^^

This is a beloved kdrama - truly. I did enjoy it and I would recommend it to all my kdrama-loving followers. HOWEVER, I was conflicted about the drama because of...the ending. I don't like spoilers, so I won't say anything specific about the ending. What I will say is that I feel that they could have had less episodes for this story (25 eps!). I think that at some points, the duration really hurt the drama because it gave the writers too much space to go in circles in the story. With that said, I don't regret watching this drama, it just isn't one of my favorites. Plus - Lee Min Ho and Kim Hyun Joong. Enough said.

Also, I've watched the anime, Itazura na Kiss and I've read most of the volumes of the manga - there is a lot of stuff I wish we could have seen with Playful Kiss! However, I still enjoyed the story :)

Now, my experience with dramas that I've rated really highly overall usually follows the pattern of being drawn in, context being established over a few average episodes and then by the fifth or sixth finding myself completely engrossed in the drama... usually ending on an emotional high, my face full of tears and the memory of what I've just watched poignantly lingering in my mind for days, sometimes weeks, after. That is the magic, where the emotional plight of the people of countries thousands of miles away from our own native land touch our hearts, unite us. Seeing the enthusiastic fanbase for Jin, I imagined myself feeling the same things, becoming engrossed in this drama's elaborate plot.
I decided I could suspend my disbelief, willingly accept the timeslip and travel back to Edo, and on that commitment I paid in full. The setting was never the issue; the viewer always mindful of the strong effort put into embellishing this premodern Japan with all the convincing articles, and the hospital setting within Tokyo felt authentic too.
No, my criticism of this drama lies predominantly in the emotional content, the acting, the melodrama.
Initially I felt overcome, not just by Minakata Jin's painful past, by his sudden departure to historic Edo, but more so by how the drama encouraged you to empathetically connect with the minds of the people who don't understand his methods, struggle to see the good in what appear to be wicked, vulgar and wholly unexplainable actions. For the first couple of episodes this was the most captivating aspect of the drama, but this was very quickly and negatively upstaged by excesses of emotion and enthusiasm. A once rallying "Hai!" rapidly became tedious, regardless of the circumstances. Rather than bringing me closer to the drama, the continuous tears, flashbacks and bowing, with such vehemence that I found myself wincing each time a head hit the floor, created an emotional disconnect.
Furthermore, I felt that the plot didn't actually go anywhere and found myself finishing episodes with no real idea of what the important issues of the coming episode would be. What's worse is I found myself willingly leaving my computer to do other things between the 15 minute parts when streaming the program.
So, to explain my ratings. The story I rated highly for it's cultural and historical content, the insight into premodern Japanese medicine, rituals and social behaviours; I'd also like to comment that despite the usual dodgy baldcaps, the costumes, make-up, special fx and settings were delightful and of a good standard for a television drama. The music was also pleasing, I liked the choice of song for the ending credits and the way it played over the last scenes of each episode and the OST was fitting.
The acting I rated as average since some performances were good, others excruciating, verging on embarrassing although I can't imagine trying to deliver such intensity of emotion allowed for nuance.
I wouldn't feel inclined to watch the drama again, and felt comfortable giving it a 6 overall as while I wouldn't say this drama was more than mediocre, it does at least merit watching for the historical setting if that's of interest to you.
Just my two pennies worth - many people feel differently, as reflected in other reviews and in the ratings overall =)

Have you ever watched a drama where you get soooo frustrated when the main character doesn't do what you want her/him to do ? That's right this drama is like that and I have to confess that is the only thing I hated about this drama , that feeling that the main character is doing all wrong Grrrr.
Story was amazing just like the acting and the music ...
So far my favourite Taiwanese drama.
