I honestly only got to episode six before dropping (so excuse me if I say something that gets resolved later; I know I'm supposed to review after I finish the show, but I don't think I can do it). The cast is good, but not great. This is the first drama I've seen Rain in, and while he's got a pretty face, I'm not seeing it, I hate to say that it's left a negative impression about his skills as an actor. Krystal played a two dimensional character that had so much potential if [Krystal] played her cards right. And she didn't. I wasn't dragged into the story, I didn't understand exactly what was going on, and to me, what's-his-face loved his dog more than her.
I'm giving higher scores in the hope that it improved somewhat after I stopped watching, but I'll leave it up to you. I can see how some people like it, but it isn't my style.

I loved the leads together. They were funny and were really well together. I really got into their characters, Nanba more so than Tomoda because I felt like the filled in all the blanks.
The story for each ep was great. I felt like it kept the flow going and they did a fairly good job building Kurumi and Tomoda's partnership. I also really liked how Kurumi went about using Mathematics to solve the case. Her methods seems off at first and not exact, but it all came together nicely in the end. The one thing that bugged me about the story was how they handled Tomoda's background. I felt like they could have put more into it and given us more.
The romance here is light, but it's fun too. I find Kurumi's thoughts about Tomoda and how to snag a guy hilarious and I love the way he responds to her antics. All in all, this is a nice and quirky detective drama in the sea of detective dramas coming out of Japan. It's got it's own charm and for that alone I rec it.

But, also keep in mind that not all of the characters make sense with their actions. Some you will hate one moment and love the next. A lot the story drama would have been solved if people just were open with each other and told the truth even half the time. I can't guarantee this is the right drama for you, think carefully before you start.

Now, before you get all judgey judgey with me and skip this review because I gave it all 10's, you should finish reading my review :) I don't just toss out 10's whenever a drama slightly moves me. Although I may not be that much of an experienced watcher, my personality in general is just very picky. Therefore, no I did not just randomly decide to be nice and give all 10's on a whim. This drama is truly amazing. KBS, you deserve a pat on the back. I think just by looking at the ranking of this drama, it's safe to say it's one of the best dramas of the past decade. Hell, it even broke the 9.0 mark. Kudos to all the writers, actors, PD, etc etc who made this amazing drama happen.
I actually found the story to be quite intriguing. It starts off as just a story about a night courier and people he's somehow connected to, but it branches out. You would think that the entire drama would just be about Healer and his love life with the female lead, but no. The supporting cast got just as good of a story. There was the main storyline, and then there was the story about the previous generation that was slowly unveiled throughout the series. The one fatal weakness of writers these days, is one way or another there are always parts that drag on. But not with this one. This drama always keeps you on your toes, and problems are never left open and unsolved. I find that a lot of writers tend to forget about the problems they created early on, and then towards the end of the drama they go "Oh right! Better write that one back in. Darn, should've used that for the middle episodes." Thus, the dragging middles and the rushed endings. So, if you're worried about it dragging, don't even fret my friend. KBS got yo back.
The cast was PER. FECT. EVERYONE was amazing, not even joking. A good writer can't create a great drama without great actors, and that's exactly what this drama had. First let's start off with Park Min Young. She's actually been getting a lot of hate lately because of how she looked in the drama, but let's just take a moment to let that sink in. How she looked. How she looked?! Yo, just because someone does not look like a Victoria's Secret model does not make them a bad actress. I don't see Behati Prinsloo getting Oscars. Why? Because she's not. an. actress. The character of Chae (Choi?) Young Shin is an anti-social girl who is not the least bit concerned about her appearance. Her only friends are her father and ex-convicts. You think she would be buying Naked palettes and Coach bags? I really hate how people automatically start judging actresses and actors based on their looks. Like hello? What's their job again? Oh right. TO ACT. If their job was to look pretty they would be models but guess what? They're actors. So stop judging Park Min Young just because her character wore loose clothing and applied minimal makeup. She wasn't even ugly in the drama. Honestly, I think she's a great actress and beautiful one at that. Now onto Ji Chang Wook (swoon). I might be just a liiiiittle biased but he really is an exceptional actor, one of my favorites. He's portrayed both hero and villain, and I think that really helped him improve his acting. I've never watched any of Yoo Ji Tae's dramas, but now I'm definitely a fan. I absolutely LOVE Park Mi Kyung. Like LOVE. By far the best ahjumma actress ever. She's played elegant and rich, poor and mute, and now hacker and essential hobo. I love her so much, she's just so dynamic. It also seems as though she's never embarrassed, because some of her outfits in this drama....WHEW. Ji Won To did a really great job too, I bet seizures are hard to fake haha.
Nothing really stood out to me music wise, but the reason I'm giving it a 10 is because the music was just so appropriate. Whoever did music selection and editing really has taste, because the music came right on time, and fit perfectly. It made you feel happy when needed, made you feel sad when needed, and most of all gave you so much feels you feel like your heart is going to explode.
Overall, watch watch watch watch watch make SURE to watch this drama. I don't care what lengths you have to go to, but this is a must. One cannot call oneself a dedicated watcher if you have not watched this. However, like many people have previously stated, don't let this be your first drama. As a first drama, it's exceptional and great and amazing...but other dramas can't compare. After finishing this, many dramas will fall short of your expectations. Therefore, you have to watch something that's inferior so you can both appreciate this drama and later dramas. I know, I know, my amazing review has you on your toes wanting to watch this drama, but endure it. If you're just starting out, I recommend My Lovely Girl, Monstar, and Heirs. Not that these dramas were necessarily bad, they just started out good and got slaughtered by the writers. Oh and one more word of advice, if you're just starting out don't watch a melodrama. There will be too much crying and angst for you to handle. Plus since you're just starting out you'll most likely be too confused to even be emotionally impacted. Happy watching!

This drama had everything suspense, action, romance and it was continuously funny. Every time things got too intense there would always be a scene to make you laugh.
And finally, JCW isn't too bad to look at either and he puts off being both sexy and adorable at the same time.
I don't understand how this didn't have bigger ratings in Korea. They must be crazy!

Story :
Basically it's a love story between so many people. She love him, he love her, she love another, that another loves another.
It seems cliche but trust me, you would somehow be wrapped into the whole drama and you would find yourself getting into their conflict like as if you're experiencing it yourself. I dont know how the drama made it that way, maybe it's the way how 90s dramas present themselves. But it just works so magically well and you just want to watch it more, to satisfy your curiosities.
Though, one thing i love in this drama, is that it doesnt go out of the way and just stay realistic as it can be.
Acting:
Can i just say how much i love everyone in the cast?
I dont know any of them at first but I just want to fangirl suzuki Honami . She has done a good job in portraying the cheerful friendly girl in the whole story . From the start, she has already got me to like her. And probably 100% of the time, I continued watching because of Akana Rika (her character), She is so relatable in so many ways. Plus, that million-dollar smile she does when she is actually hurt.
And this is my bias opinion, but I believed many japanese actress have the same character with the same persona, but Suzuki Honami has this uniqueness in a way that I dont think others can beat. I can't seem to find the right words.
I would go on more about praising her, but really, the whole cast of this drama definitely had their own charms and has contributed to the drama which make the whole thing a success.
Music:
The soundtrack is the best. Even though it is old school, it touches the deep of my heart like no other songs in this generation can make. Such an up beat melody but the emotion it brings , really makes you like as if you yourself are experiencing the issues in the drama. The song definitely deserves the 9th most best single that has sold in Japan. I could just repeat that song forever.
Over all:
I love it so much ! I never thought i'd be this obsessed with a drama, especially a drama that is older than I am. Such a classic gem that everyone should try and watch . Tokyo love story made me wish I was experiencing the life style during the 90s , and the way how people love during that time. Totally worth watching, even in the midst of our busy real lives. And for a classic-oldschool drama lover like me , this has definitely over-meet my expectations and how I wished there's more dramas like this nowadays.

The only flaw was how much they butchered the English language... wow it was so bad. But I found it kind of entertaining still, I guess they tried their best.
I also really hated Mosheng's wardrobe... I don't think I'm the only one.
Overall I definitely recommend this drama, you will not regret it.

Acting: If I have to say something about acting here I would say only one line, "The actors satisfied their characters." I loved acting. There was no extra drama & the emotions were very well expressed. The actors didn't let the drama to be a drag & I didn't abandon it. Seriously it was good.
Music: There was only OST but it was great!!! <3
Story: Well I just started on the spur & read the plot after watching one episode. The story perfectly depicts the parental love & how a single unthoughtful step in life can change everything. I liked how Wu Tong & Zhong Mou relationship established. It wasn't like love at first sight & here & there & everything's set. But something that took time & they understood each other. They overcome different problems together & alone. I loved that part a lot. It has a unique charm in it!!! The ending was most satisfying.
P.S: It's really worth your time!!
P.S.S: While watching it you'll definitely notice the phone & it's no use complaining. The only person who has phone according to 2014 is Xaing Jun!!! I was like "why are they using those phones!!! why!!"

I loved how this drama shows that everyone has a past that has turned them into the type of character they were in this drama. No one was truly the most evil. Everyone had a story. This drama showed there is truly no such thing as a truly full good person. Everyone can turn into a bad person. We are all humans. We can be tempted by greed, lust, power, wealth, etc. We will do whatever it takes to survive. I loved that deep meaning shown in this drama.
The cast in this drama blew me away. The actors were all A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Holy crap. They all deserve an award. They brought the characters to life. I loved how the actors did not over exaggerate. Everything seemed truly natural.
Kudos to the director too. Even though Zhen Huan was the main character, I didn't feel like the director was overly focused on her at all. The director really let all the characters get their time to shine. The director also didn't change the setting into like some fantasy love story with tons of over exaggerated corny action scenes or love scenes, etc. just for the main characters also. The director tried to let all viewers see what it was truly like to live in the palace during the Qing Dynasty.
The costumes.were all fucking beautiful. I would love to own any costume shown in this drama. I think the costumes really added life to this drama. Without the colorful costumes, this drama would be truly bland. No colorful costumes giving eye gasms and spazz moments to viewers~
The music was so enchanting to hear for me. Every song suit the scenes in the drama perfectly.
Even though this drama was amazing, I will not rewatch it. The amount of episodes is way too time consuming. I also feel so constrained in feeling stressed out while watching this drama because the drama is mostly focused on everyone fighting for power in the palace, and that gives off a very stressful feeling for me which ends up making me feel so stressed out. It's like I feel trapped in my emotions of stress when I have to to sit through and watch complicated drama with people trying to all harm each other just for power, which can get annoying and tiresome. While watching this drama, I've had my share of irritation and stress... I don't want any more of that, lol. But if you feel like you could rewatch this drama, go ahead! This drama is just not my kind of drama to rewatch.

The story would have been better if they had focused more on the group fusing these different genres together to emerge as a standout group. I also liked the lead actress and actor. I'm so glad they gave her backbone.
....The Title should have been My Dream, I Dream, Dream Fusion, Dream X...anything other than the title they chose.
Fyi: Ko Eun-Ah was more believable as a boy than, than Shin Hye in You are Beautiful, to me. That's the only comparison I'll make w/ that series cause it ends there. She was convincing as a Tom Boy.
Sigh... I could have loved this...(i liked Mr. Rock-n-Roll's husky voice n vibe)
This is a filler series if you need 1 to watch. The 1st few episodes are worth it.

While telling an interesting story, Healer manages to do brilliantly what most fictional works should and sometimes fail to do: create 4-dimentional characters, believable persona whose growth and mutual interaction reach the heart of the viewer. When characterization is so strong, the plot twists - whatever they are - fall to the background, becoming a mean to an end. In this sense, it doesn't matter how many times the same plot subject has been used in a drama: what matters is how this same subject pertains to the journey of the characters. The reason why I was constantly on the edge of my seat while watching Healer, is not because I wondered what was going to happen next, but because I was eager to know how each character would react to a certain event. Will she give up? Will he fall apart? Will that one lie, speak the truth, run away, face the challenge, cry, laugh, rejoice? What would I do, in their shoes?
And every single time I feared the ominous K-drama tropes would sneak into the narration with the usual noble idiocy, nth misunderstanding, petty jealousy or envious triangles, these characters surprised me and made me extremely happy for NOT conforming.
Someone here called this drama "a breath of fresh air" and I couldn't agree more.
This story, while simple on the surface, hides a few, much deeper and more complex subjects. One over all, the roles of adults and how their choices can make the lives of children a living hell. K dramas have accustomed us to adults who abandon their children, or abuse them, dictate them, mold them to their will, silence them. In the best of scenarios, they over protect them. This drama, on the other hand, gives out a different message: adults should give their children the means to fight their own battles, their own way. The same could be said about women, who are the true strong point of this drama. I wish I could write an essay on Young Shin and Ahjumma, but don't worry, I'll spare you the boredom, Suffice to say, true courage and strength are not in the fists.
Healer is also a love story. A sweet, realistic, heart wrenching and heartwarming love story made of little, endearing details. It's the encounter of a young man with a tough shell and a vulnerable soul and a young woman with a fragile body and a brave, unwavering heart. They are so natural together, watching them is a pleasure. I think I fell irremediably in love with them as a couple. I ascribe it to the acting, but also to the brave script, which for once depicts 2 young adults who admits they are attracted to each other physically as well as emotionally. I do not expect a drama to show me anything happening under the sheets, but I'm a little weary of tons of dramas where the girl is shocked by the mere hands touching and calls for a trial. Guess what, Young Shin and Jung Hoo are human!
I've read somewhere this drama had a very low budget, so low that they had to film lots of scenes in a rush and couldn't afford complicated special effects. I grew even fonder of it because of this and wish viewer would stop comparing this show to others which had a lot more money to work with. All the actors give out the impression of truly believing in what they are doing, that's possibly why there's a collective, tangible alchemy keeping the whole cast together. As for the music, I admit at not having liked a particular song in the beginning, but because it was so fitting to the story told, I ended up loving it too. The instrumental pieces were perfect.
As I said, I've already watched this twice. When I reached the end the first time, I felt the urge to go see again how it all began and how it all unfolded. When it comes to dramas I like, I am a serial second watcher and go in search of that lost detail I've overlooked before. I think Healer lends itself very well to multiple watching, because even when you already know the outcome, the journey there still has so much enjoyment to give.

Throughout this drama, my heart was beating so fast at the suspense. I almost felt my heart was going to pop out at times lol. That's a sign of how good the suspense is in this drama.
The revenge all plot out by the lawyer was amazing too. Everything was well thought out.

Anyways for me, I LOVED THIS DRAMA. Everything was simply perfection.
After one episode, I was instantly hooked. The plot had a good start and made me interested. This drama is a really different drama than most others dramas I've watched. This is my first time watching a slice of life kind of drama. This drama had a bit of everything but not too much of it. It just flowed along together really well and didn't overdo a genre in just 8 episodes. I loved that. This drama had so much funny and cute moments, too. I laughed and smiled a lot. Some scenes were also sad and I also cried...
This drama also gave me many meaningful life lessons. It really made me learn: Not to care what others think of me and just do what I want to do. Life brings you down at times, but don't feel discouraged and keep your head up. As long as you never give up, a better day of life will come for you. As long you never give up your dreams, you will accomplish them. Everyone has a different meaning of happiness. You should find yours and not let others stand in the way of you finding your happiness. You also never know whats going to happen in life, but as long as you keep living, new things will happen to you everyday; whether good or bad. But at least days won't stay the same. Your world will change everyday. You should enjoy life while you can and make the most of it! :)
I was having a bad day when I was watching this drama. However, when I finished this drama, my whole life changed. My mood just brightened up and I'm so much more optimistic now. I've learned to just keep moving forward and not dwell on the past any longer.
And just a shout out to Ohno Satoshi. Like... that man is simply amazing. He really brought this character he was acting to life. I loved this character a lot. I could tell he put his all into this character. I think this is one of my most favorite roles of Ohno so far. This character is such an inspiration to me. As I watched this drama, I could relate to Yano Kenta (the character Ohno is playing in this drama) SO MUCH. My personality was EXACTLY like Yano Kenta. It was like I found another me. The lazy, unmotivated, carefree, and uncommitted type of person. As I watched this drama, watching Kenta change made me feel like I was changing too. Finally, I feel like I have become a whole new person after finishing this drama thanks to Yano Kenta.
I simply am so grateful to have found out about this drama. This drama is a 10/10 for sure for me.

The biggest problem with Doctor Stranger is its characters. In particular Song Jae Hee who is one of the two female protagonist, and Han Jae Joon one of the two male protagonist. The script writer really did their best to mess up these characters, they could have been so much better if not for the terrible script and character development. I came to hate the character Song Jae Hee because she's so unworthy of Park Hoon's love and because she is such a two dimensional character without a hint of intelligence in that brain despite being a spy and top notch doctor. Her role is so cliché that throughout the entire series i was sitting on the edge of my seat hoping she does something I don't expect but it never happens.
Han Jae Joon is a character that might have turned out much better if the drama gave us a chance to know him. Instead after 20 episodes all we know about this guy is he is a good doctor who graduated from harvard and he plotted 20 years to get revenge for his dad. The script writer basically abandoned this character after giving it a goal to achieve in the drama without even attempting to make him seem realistic and three dimensional as a person.
Thankfully the script writer only messed up two out of four main characters. Park Hoon is a very complete human being who is not a robot with no personality, and therefore it is very easy for the viewers to sympathize with him and his decisions. Even tho some of his calls were rather dumb such as choosing to fight bad guys when he is a lanky piece of stick who probably can't even punch properly (sorry Lee Jong Suk). Oh Soo Hyun (Kang So Ra) deserves some notice as well, out of the two females she is the more likeable one being the sensible female who falls for the wrong guy while also having the rather unfortunate fate of being daughter to the chairman and therefore middle of all the melodrama.
Acting wise even though some of the other reviews criticized actress Jin Se Yeon (Song Jae Hee) for her acting I feel she simply did the best she could with the script given to her. It was simply put bad script that destroyed the characters not bad acting in my honest opinion. Also I have a huge question mark toward Lee Jong Suk's wardrobe in this drama as he continuously wore extremely strange clothing that is unbefitting of a doctor. Through majority of the the time Lee Jong Suk was working in the hospital he wore an extremely loose T-shirt under his doctor coat that never failed to show off his colarbones and his skinniness. Was this awful dress code designed on purpose by the drama team in order to emphasis on something? I can't for the life of me figure out what is the reason for his terrible sense of fashion in this drama. Honestly cloths makes a person and Lee Jong Suk was simply a complete failure at passing off as a doctor in this show, more than half the time while watching I was just praying for him to get a wardrobe change because I couldn't stand the cloth.
Music in Doctor Stranger is pretty mediocre. The quality of the music is ok, nothing that really stands out but at the same time nothing that is glaringly bad and makes me hate it for existing. However one thing worth noticing is nearly every single song is a love song, but in a medical drama does this make sense? Sometimes when the song is playing in the background it completely doesn't fit the scene (i.e the lyric is talking about breaking up, but the scene is of a patient lying in the hospital bed post surgery?). I wish this drama could have focused on some classical music and used it during surgery or post surgery moments, it definitely would have added more depth to the drama.
Overall Doctor Stranger is a pretty decent medical drama, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as the saying goes and Doctor Stranger definitely won't awe you with its amazing thought provoking plot and medical knowledge/jargon. The time allotted to most kdrama is too short for intricate plots focusing on politics and mysteries so as long as you watch this drama with the intent to enjoy it flaws and all you will have a good time.

If i'd know sooner that Oguri Shun AND Mukai Osamu were in this I would have watched it long ago.
I was vaguely familiar with the story due to seeing snippets of the anime, but know very little about the actual history of it all. The story line is great- Basically, Saboru (Oguri Shun) accidentally travels back in time, mistakes it for a LARPing event and ends up agreeing to be Nobunaga, Lord of the Oda clan. Sounds crazy, but is very enjoyable. The first thing I LOVED about this is that it was straight into the story. The first episode wasn't a boring filler ep telling us about each individual character. It was just boom, fall down a hill, your'e in the past, now have an epic battle.
It has some very funny moments that had me laughing out loud, but equally was very intense and often had me at the edge of my seat. The first episode was non-stop action, I wasn't sure they'd be able to top it and maybe the drama would start hot and become very...lukewarm. This was not the case. There wasn't an episode I didn't enjoy.
The acting was very good, I cannot fault it at all. I feel that in some of Oguri's roles we do not get to see his full potential, whereas this drama really showcased his skills. All the cast were amazing, normally there is that one actor in all dramas who overacts everything and spoils the whole thing- you know the one. But this drama did not have anyone like that (that I can remember off the top of my head).
I will definitely be getting this on DVD and re-watching. It doesn't have as high a re-watch value that some other more light hearted dramas have, as you do need to really pay attention. The only fault I have is the ending, not only is it a major cliff hanger, it is very open ended. If you are aware of the history of Nobunaga Oda you will have an idea of what might happen, but this drama is not history- it is a work of fiction. It can go any number of ways. I can't wait for the movie to see how it all plays out.
