The first in the Endless Love drama installment directed by Yoon Seok-Ho: Autumn Tale is another Song Hye Kyo film along with Song Seun Heon.

Honestly, I’m not much of a fan when it comes to heavy drama because I tend to really get carried away but then this drama got showed in all its soap opera feeling. It just became too hard to ignore that I had to seat it through and finish it up to the last episode. I would be proud to say that I only cried once around the ending part.

It wasn’t much like the melodrama I have encountered lately whereas in every episode you just had to grovel and cry out loud in sadness or frustration. Autumn Tale was something more on the side of frustrating with this sense of bittersweet romanticism all throughout the show. If it’s possible to pull out all my hair during the first half of the drama I would have done so because it has that redundancy of I’m-not-yours-you’re-not-mine-we’re-not-for-each-other-so-let’s-just-forget-about-everything then it will go back to being I-know-you-love-me-and-we-love-each-other-so-let’s-stay-together-and-forget-everything. Having that out, why on earth am I recommending this?

Because Autumn Tale is worth the sound track, worth the backdrop, worth of SONG HYE KYO herself. The root of the story line may have been too much (having babies exchanged at birth??? puhleeeeeaaaassseee… not again) but the overall concept of the story is worth the watch. The characters themselves and the actor’s and actresses’ portrayal of their roles were amazing that you get to feel all that love, that hurt and that desperation. I say give it a try because it’s just that good despite the short comings.

Iris is like a taste of Alias, only in male form and a downer story line. I loved the fact that Lee Byung Hun was casted here along with Kim Tae-hee. The story is deemed to be heavy starting from the beginning but just lost me as it was about to end. It got all messy for the wrong reasons and the twists weren’t enough to put fire on my ass and say, “Gaaaaad… that was awesome.”

So I’m leaving the story line behind with all my rants at the backroom.

Why recommend IRIS after saying that?

The cast (I have fallen in love with the antagonist! Why is T.O.P. one heck of a slick villain???), back drop setting (they actually went to different countries just to shoot) and music was all a just a plus points for the series, what made it really recommendable was THE ACTION. As I have mentioned earlier it was like ALIAS. Kick ass and butt full of action. The fight scenes were really eye popping it makes it hard to think that it wasn’t a movie but just a drama. They outdid themselves in the choreography with the fight scenes, battle up gear and stunts. So yes. I am recommending it for scenes with: Judo moves and gun shots. Run-for-your-life-while-bleeding-on-the-left-side-of-your-gut-crazed-looks while guns are aimed dead-on skulls. Even dying beautifully while tears streaming down the face would be pretty much catchy for me.

Have I gone to the other side by having a man’s taste? Probably. Yet, with Iris. I simply don’t care as long as I get one full hour of action.

This is the second long running sageuk drama I’ve seen, next to Dae Jang Geum. Since this was depicted from Korea’s own history, I tried to research a bit while I was watching the whole thing. And as I have discovered, the drama was very far from reality or even its original history. Just like Jang Geum, it was altered a lot.

The drama’s setting was about war times in which people were still ignorant about science and turned to believing in myths. The main character Seon Duk or first known as Deokman was born during those times of conquering kingdoms and ignorance. She had to be separated with the royal family right after birth due to the nation’s cruel beliefs . It was then, a prophecy was given that a chosen one will unite the kingdom of Silla. Though, never in their wildest dreams did they think it would be a Queen and a twin nonetheless. Seon Duk’s journey from being a traveler, to a soldier then finally to being a queen was an epic one. During her growth, she had a handful of help from different people she get to meet along the way. Her perseverance, wit and loyalty has touched people’s heart around her and because of this, they become loyal to her in return.

What I liked about the drama was the political conflicts in every aspect. The more problem there is on the top of the ladder, the larger the problem becomes at the bottom. Politics has always been a mar in our society due to the scoundrels who take advantage of their power. It’s sad that if one person tries to be righteous in his ways, a flock would try to bring him down. Solving political problems was never easy to begin with, but this drama even the antagonist had the same thoughts as on how to control the government properly. It was a good idea, only it had the wrong ways on executing it which turns the table to our protagonist. Though the antagonist Mishil is very much witty like Seon Duk, the show got more interesting because two great female minds are going to collide head on with their own tactics.

Inserted along the way is also a love triangle within the story line. (They just wouldn’t let romance get away in sageuk dramas!) There is the ever loyal Kim Yu Shin from childhood to puberty and then later on comes the feisty Bidam. This part of the story isn’t your average love story, there were so many twist and turns that in the end it just made me pull out my hair and cry out loud for all the things these three people had to go through.

I am recommending this drama, because it is a good watch. An eye opener and you would seriously love Mishil in this show. Love her and hate her all at the same time.

Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo alone made me watch this. Then they threw in Kim Rae Won… I suddenly spazzed out.

What’s so good about a transgender rom-com? It’s good when it’s Eun Hye who’s being transgenderized (if that’s even a word), it felt like the role was made for her and she wasn’t afraid to step up and get her hair all chopped up for the role. That’s one thing about Eun Hye that I like, she takes strange roles that is full of comedy. I have yet to see her in a melodrama. Maybe somewhere in the near future she will.

As for the story, Coffee Prince is about Go Eun Chan (Eun Hye), a hard working girl who is always always being mistaken as a guy. Then fate made her meet Choi Hang Kyul (Yoo) in a misunderstanding. After which they come to an agreement to help each other out and eventually, she ended up lying about her gender so she could work as a waiter in Gong Yoo’s coffee shop.

The drama was hilarious in all angle, there is no realism in this one because it is obvious that Eun Chan is A GIRL if you look closely at her chest. So let not your head go swimming that this is not realistic enough to be watched. It may not be like that but the storyline would definitely blow you away with all the characters involved. The princes (namely the waiters in the coffee prince shop) and the OST had me hooked as well.

Check out the title “Go Go Chan!”

Here’s another case of melodrama but this one, I really liked.

The final installment of Endless Love series, Spring Waltz has it’s funny aspects but the whole mood of the drama is mainly romance and inner angst. I would have to warn you that the first 8 episodes of the drama was dedicated for the past of the two main characters. So you will see a couple of children playing around getting to know each other despite their poverty stricken condition and then... it sort of drags on.

Lee Su Ho, whose father was debt stricken and was left in the care of Su Eun Young’s mother thus making them live in the same house. Su Ho is a good kid and really cared for Eun Young while she, on the other hand adored Su Ho as well. Eun Young is a very talented but sickly girl. Her mother was actually working hard so she could get Eun Young an operation, but due to Su Ho’s father stealing that hard earned money, this drove the two kids apart.

Years past and they cross paths once again but now in different names.

As for why that happened? Watch the drama. *grins*
This is also the part where the story picks up it's pace.

What are the things I loved about Spring Waltz?

The story line is already given, so what else? It’s the back drop setting, the mood and the OST. The main characters are raw actors and they aren’t really that good in acting yet but… given the setting where SPRING color is all around, everything becomes an eye candy. The colorful hues of everything within the drama says SPRING SPRING SPRING! The luscious color of green, purple, blue, pink and everything else in between is accentuated. I couldn’t help but smile while watching it all. It was really great to look at. Then comes in the OST, it was more on the musical scoring but hearing Loveholic sing One Love was a plus point. Whenever I hear that song, I am reminded of how much I loved this drama.

I watched this drama bcoz it was one of top recommended must to watch in utube..... story is just fine though i think sometimes it was a cheesy plotting....... I think 16 episodes is too long for this type of story, they just prolonged it to make a drama. It was just an ordinary story, only the fact that the actors and actresses are all pretty which made me give a try too. The ending wasnt bad nor good. what weakens this drama is that all the thrilling plot were gathered in the last episode that made the story cheesy. they should have divided each resolves of a problem to an equal episode and gave the final at a last episode to make it remarkable. they made a not a satisfying ending. Seems that other episodes was just nothing. Its like watch the first and last episode will make the story.......

I’ve been deliberating with myself if I should or should not add this up in the list of my recommendation/review because 1st, I’m not much of a Bae Yong Jun or Choi Ji Woo fan, 2nd the drama didn’t really leave me any lasting impressions. Then it dawned on me that I will be covering all three series of Endless Love then leave this alone for good? That’s unfair. So despite my inner retaliation, I will recommend this for the sake of completing the whole Endless Love Installment and maybe someone out there is into this kind of heavy melodrama and would get to appreciate it more than I did.

Winter Sonata is the 2nd installment of Endless Love series, it is also far away from being Rom-Com. The drama is all about romance, spice of life and deep conflicts not just within the characters but their roots. Meaning their family, where all conflicts usually starts in this kind of setting. The main characters meet and fall in love during their high school until one day, they were separated for vague reasons. After 10 years, they meet again in an engagement party in which one of them are getting engaged.

The actor’s portrayal of their character is really amazing if you judge how much their caliber on acting is. The emotions on each role was poured out on scenes and even those melancholic-angsty moment would move you against your own volition. (It did mine and I wasn’t really expecting that) I remember my mom tearfully pointing at me for making her watch another mellow drama and making her cry out once again. (I made her watch Autumn in my Heart, the first melodrama she’s seen and she’s the one who insisted on watching Winter Sonata. NOT ME.)

Another rom-com kdrama that hooked me up. This was my second time seeing Lee Da Hae in a drama, but as a lead. I’ve first seen her in Sweet 18 as an antagonist and told myself, “She’s really pretty and I think comedy would suit her.” Then a few years later, My Girl aired in Korea and there she was, the main character.

The story is not really original but how the characters played it was awesome. Seeing Lee Da Hae run around in her boots as Lee Dong Wook chase around for her was very amusing, then not to forget the cutie/hottie Lee Jun Ki who’s also bent up on following her as well. Why so many hot guys on your tail Da Hae???

The story revolves around Joo Yoo Rin (Da Hae) who’s on the run because of her father’s debt to loan sharks, then there is Seol Gong Chan (Dong Wook) who is a rich man with no parents but has a doting grand father who is looking for his long lost grand daughter. Their paths cross each other and that’s how chaos began to both on their lives.

Music wise, it was tuned up to every scene and does coincide with the acting on screen but nothing really memorable. Overall, this is a really nice series, even the ending was funny specially if you are a Kdrama buff who's into a rom-com-feel-good-watch-genre.

The realism of this drama, in which a lot of women verbalized on relating to. Why? Not all women look like Son Ye-jin or Song Hye Kyo. Not all women are pretty for a fact. There are more average looking women than to those who look like a walking model. So yes… they could relate big time with Kim Sam Soon because she is average, chubby and most of all a dork. A woman in her thirties with no fulfillment in life. This drama would hook up the old maids out there who’s mopping for not marrying that guy from their past because he cheated on her. Teenagers in their late blooming stage are crying out and are hopeful because though they won’t grow up looking like a cover model of a magazine, at least they can catch that Hyun Jin-Heon of their life. Even in their average self.

Ahhh… Hyun Bin, why are you so damn good looking?!?

This is a romantic comedy that would strike all women in every age level because… it is Kim Sam Soon.

No need for further explanation.

Though I would just like to add up that the soundtrack of this drama is quite catchy, and this is also the first drama I caught Daniel Henney in. Yep, Hyun Bin isn’t the only eye candy in this drama. I’m throwing in a towel for Daniel too!

The drama seemed to have a promising start… but it gradually made me want to tear my hair out in frustration. Why? There were those moments where Haru and Shin Hwal had this brother-sister affection but has to be marred by Haru's other intentions which eventually puts a rift to their sibling affections.

I leave my hatred to the writers. There could have been MORE to this drama. They have all the means in the world to evolve the story line into an epic something!

The main characters were all solid ones, portrayed by great actors and yet it flopped and killed my heart in the end. I couldn't say that I feel the same emptiness for the supporting cast because, I find liking the supporting cast more than the main ones. ~_~

There are two constant things that I liked in this drama. One, it was having Song Joong Ki as Ji Poong Ho. I love the persistence and his pure heart of a character. There are so many lines that he said to Haru but this one I like best: "It doesn't matter if you don't love me. I'll keep on loving you anyway." Aaaahh…. How could not the girl fall for someone like that? Geez… the guy's devotion all through out the drama was no joke even if you brought that to real life.

Two, was the lovely music all through out. If it wasn't for the music, this drama would have turned out more draggy that it seemed.

Over all, I couldn't really say I did not enjoy it and yet I couldn't also say I enjoyed it because there are some elements in this drama that was in the mediocre level. The word I could use for this drama is disappointing. Since that's what I was left feeling after finishing all 16 episodes. So don't expect me to recommend this... although, I would recommend the sound track for easy listening :)

I didn't really want to take note of this drama but it seemed unfair of me to not put my thoughts into it since I did waste 16 hours on it.

Why do I say waste? Because the story line was pretty annoying. I don't know what the writers were thinking when they started brewing up the plot. It had a weak start and a weak ending. The main character was a superb actor, we all know that but the story didn't give justice to his acting skills at all.

Though I would have to admit that there were times where I laughed my ass out to some scenes but that wasn't enough for me to go on rambling and recommending the drama. It will only be a waste of time. So I'm posting it to say that this is one of those drama's which people should avoid watching. Even the music did not give color to the loose story line.

I cried by the end, realizing that this was the final, nothing would follow and they have wrapped up everything and gave closure to the main characters. (Well, aside from Yuki and Soujiro.)

Setting that aside, I had fun watching it... everything was just perfect for an ending of Hana Yori Dango. The scenery was magnificent, the prestige and money that they were trying to show was very extravagant, as if money was always out of the question. (Sometimes I do get to day dream of living life in luxury like the Doumyouji's) The music was in time with every scene and fits it very well. I could still remember the tones in my head even up to this day.

The actors all seemed natural except for "Kaede's" smile during the wedding ceremony which kind of gave me an eerie feeling. *scratches head*

Story wise, it was sub par. Very fan-fic like and a total spin off from the series... but since I am a biased viewer and a Fan I would have to rate it in a bias of an 8. I loved the twist at the end though, so that makes up for everything. The cast-away feel in the whole movie was a plus point and redeeming factor as well.

I find the whole story pretty amusing and yet… empty. The plots were loose and there are a couple of loopholes in it. My complain is that there could be so much more added to the story line.

Jun Matsumoto was a good actor that's for sure, but I should have guessed that this would just end up on my bummer listing film. The killing effects were too obvious, even the gushing out of blood was exaggerated (not that japanese films do not exaggerate it as always, kill bill had that but still had a fantastic effect out of it) but here... in an era where blood bath should look more realistic, it didn't fit at all.

As for the soundtrack... for the love me, I could not recall it at all. It's not something that would stick in your head, it's all a hum and dumdimdumdums.

Acting wise the main characters were good. Only the setting wasn't and that you would know it was all a ruse. Other than that it was an OKAY film to watch, but not worth your time. I love Abe Hiroshi and Jun Matsumoto but they couldn't save this film with their good looks and acting.

Since I heard the hong sisters were going to make a drama with Gong Yoo and Lee Min-Jung, I was like totally happy. I'm a big fan of these sisters and I've seen most of their work. The fact thait there was going to be "magical things", the body switch and others, sounded really great to me as I was in a kind of "fantastic drama period" because of Rooftop prince, Queen in hyun's man.. After the first 4 episodes, I was kinda disappointed, I liked it, but I felt like something was missing which I always found in a Hong sisters' drama. And after watching the fifth episode, I began to really really like it. And it went on like that, I was waiting each episode like crazy and was totally addicted ! So I just finished it, I woke up at 7 a.m to see the last episode, I was really confused because everything happened really fast, I think in the context it was so hard to do a great ending as the viewers wanted, I can't come up with something that would make sense as an end ( even if the main subject of this drama doesn't make sense actually .. ). Anyway, I loved the actors, I'm a huge fan of Gong Yoo and I definitely know why, I also love Lee Min-Jung, she's just SO talented and pretty. I loved the character of her brother as well. Ahn Suk Hwan also has a role in Bridal Mask at the same time it's so impressive. I didn't like Suzy much before but she was so cute and funny here. I loved all the background music too. It's not the kind of drama I would watch again entirely but just a few scenes I liked.
So at the moment I think you should watch it since it's part of the "new drama genre" but the drama itself sadly lost most of its essence in the last 4 episodes. It's not a must-watch but if you have time to spare and are looking for something to watch, it can be a good choice.

I’m very bittersweet about putting this drama off to the side because I could only keep up with two as I finished my spring semester. I’m happy I did because this drama intrigued me more than the others and I knew I would reward myself with a marathon and finish it after my finals. Though the last episodes, what an emotional weekend! I have never cried for a drama as I did in the last 3 episodes of this one.

First off, this is a political drama where there is romance, but does not only consist of love. This drama consists of the main character, a spoiled prince leaving his immaturity behind and becoming the new king. When he joined the WOC, he wasn’t interested in ruling or being in charge of anything. Once his brother passed away, he had to face reality and take over. It’s a political action thriller type of drama. The main two characters, played by Hai Ji Won and Lee Seung Ki, had AMAZING chemistry. Hai Ji Won played a badass character. Now that is a femme fatale. All the suffering they went through paid off in the end. And what a risky move to make a drama with the making allegiance of North and South Korea. Bravo to the writers.

The second couple, reason I bawled my ass off, the princess and the soldier, played by Lee Yoon Ji and Jo Jung Suk. My emotions…seriously, those two were perfect. Ying and Yang; they balanced each other perfectly and both actors had AMAZING chemistry too. But they had to kill him. WTF! It was a complete flashback of prosecutor Kim from City Hunter. And then they had to wound my fragile heart twice, not once but twice in episode 19 with the recording of his farewell and again in the last episode with his “ghost/” “daydream” appearance. I wish both actors make another drama together as the main leads, seriously make it up to us fans.

Like I said, what an emotional drama. The first king, great character that at least died peacefully with his wife but didn’t deserve death. The english speaking actress, Bon Bon—great job! Her crazy persona was played very well. The other soliders were hilarious. The villain played by Joon Je Moon—best psycho villain! I hated his character, and I wish he would have died but that would have been to easy. I’m glad his character would rot in prison. I applaud his acting, bravo!

Anyways, I HIGHLY recommend this drama. If you like City Hunter and The Sun that Embraces the Moon, you’ll love this one. It’s about solving political corruption with a great ending (not taking into detail of Eun Si Kyung dying). It had a great mix of diversity, something rare I’ve seen, action, psychological thriller, romance, craziness, and much more. A great cast nonetheless that exceeded my expectations in their acting. If you don’t like these genres, don’t watch it. I like to watch all the drama on Viki due to the commentaries, but many complained about how “boring” it was. GTFO if you’re not into thinking that result in cunning scenes. Moreover, I will anticipating the following dramas by the actors in this one. Great drama, I applaud again the writers and the actors!
