Takumi-kun Series 5: That, Sunny Blue Sky

It's the same old Takumi you love, only this time it was a little more fleshed out. It seems like the same old Takumi problems, but for some reason it was much more interesting to watch. The music was, as always, wonderful and well used at appropriate times.
The story wasn't the best this time around but Daisuke and Hamao's acting really did make up for it, in my opinion.
The one thing that always bothered me in this series, this one included, are the flashbacks. They are oftentimes refilmed and rarely are you given any clue that what you are watching is a flashback. They could definitely execute them much better.
Other than that, I will greatly miss Daisuke and Hamao in this series! They certainly grew from the 2nd to 5th movies and you can see it for yourselves in this great film.

I loved the cast. Though I'm not a big fan of Mikako Tabe, I think she played Sawako well. And i may be biased with Miura Haruma, but I love him in almost every drama/movie he's in. The supporting cast was also great.
Maybe this would've been better as a 8,9 or 10 episode drama but for what it is, i think it was a great movie and i rewatch it all the time

At first, it felt like the sub plots and other characters would get interesting eventually but it never happened. But the saving grace of the show was the character of Han Gyul portrayed excellently by Gong Yoo. I have no problems with the actress who played Eun Chan but I just didn't like her character. She seemed innocent and adorable in the beginning but turned downright selfish after that. However, when does admit she was wrong for lying to the Han Gyul, I appreciated her in that moment. But after the revelation of her being a girl to him, the story became boring. I felt like there was nothing left in it after that. Their relationship kind of became lackluster for my taste. I only enjoyed the homosexual angle of their relationship and that too got dragged unnecessarily.
I don't feel like it was a well written show. The characterizations were also lazy. Only good direction and great performances by the cast makes a practically terrible show into an almost very good one. Apart from the main lead pair, I didn't care for anyone. But they have some very strong emotional moments.I felt like Yoo Joo's character was underused and they kind of made her annoying by the end. Min Yeop provided with hilarity and I kind of found his acts cute.
And I don't know what to make of the rest of the show or even its ending. There is hardly anything there for me to say about it.

It's like the pain of being strapped down and then forced to watch. I might be overly dramatic with my metaphor, but in fact I have found myself with eyes closed during some episodes when I've reached the limit of my forbearance.
On a primary level, both writing and directing failed me. So what's with the writing? Well, for one, the interjection of comedy at most inappropriate times and I said it first hand, the most unwanted use of makjang elements. The side stories... well, undoubtedly they can be ignored. I'm sure the most nitpicky ones will be able to tell the evident flaws in the writing. My frustration actually got magnified; I can't believe the directing also augmented the writing. Can you imagine when a character is acting out a scene, anyone who are not focused on the camera's frame remain all stationary or poker faces, you know... like they're part of the background. People only move after the character(s) has finished reciting the lines. Extremely annoying.
The basic storyline is heartfelt in itself and had the potential of being a truly moving generational saga if only it was given better handling. Why I couldn't drop this and why I had to endure (refer to my metaphor) was exactly because of this storyline. Plus I had been wanting to watch this drama from the get-go so I couldn't fully make myself believe that I'm watching such a bad drama.
If this drama had any saving grace, I think it would have to be the acting from Ha Hee Ra, Ahn Seo Hyun, and Kim Hyun Joo. Though I must say, even Kim Hyun Joo sometimes suffered from the writing in a way that I feel cringy watching her character. I reckon Kim Jeong Hoon was under-utilized while Shin Hyun Joon is effective in dramatic moments he should forget attempts of comedy in the future.
Lastly, if you decide to carry on, be forewarned that this drama will demand at least a boxful of tissue.

Acting/Cast: All the actors were really good with their roles. Their acting felt natural and they all had great chemistry together... except for the actress playing Yi Soo. I don't know why but I really did not warm up to her. The main reason is probably how her character was written in the beginning but then, her acting just didn't help. She overacted way too much in the first half of the show. She's supposed to be around 35 but like, really? You react that way when you see a man in an unbuttoned shirt? It's not like he's naked... Also she's not supposed to like the guy in the beginning, but she's always trying to look cute around him which made her look flirty. Ugh. I disliked her so much that I forwarded almost all of her scenes by the time I was at ep8. Although, I have to admit, I quite like her when she's in teacher mode and when she's with the 3 girls.
Music: The songs they used were all good and very catchy and it fitted the scenes that they were used in. :)
Rewatch Value: I don't really rewatch shows. But there were a lot of scenes that I would probably want to watch it again. All of the scenes of the 4 men 'cause their friendship is just too darn cute. And TaeSan&SeRa; and Yoon&MeAhRi; moments 'cause these two are my favorite couple. :)
Overall: I was supposed to give this a 7 'cause as I've said I forwarded almost all of Yi Soo and I'm not the type to forward scenes. But then decided to give it an 8 because I really enjoyed almost everything about it (If only there were less of Yi Soo and more of Yoon&MeAhRi;) :( hehe.

Story: It’s a mix of Jdramas Tadashii Ouji no Tsukurikata, Yankee-kun to Megane-chan, and Life. So nothing original about it but still enjoyable. I liked the idea of the 2 gender groups coming together to stop outsiders from ruining their schools reputation and trying to get them to shut down. I was hoping for a little more on the romance front but maybe they’ll be closure to the pairings in the movie sequel version.
Acting/Cast: The acting in this was pretty much a joke. No seriously I laughed in scenes that were supposed to be serious. The 2 female lead actresses made their characters come off as fake, robotic and sometimes creepy. The 2 male lead actors were a little better but one overacted while another underacted. It was really distracting when there will be scenes with both female and male idol groups all in one room and then you get random idols have one liners when you really should be focusing on the 4 leads. I feel like I didn’t connect with any of the main characters because you don’t really get to know each one.
Music: I liked the “Shake it Baby” theme song cause it was really catchy and makes me wanna dance. The other song I assume is by the girl idols and it matched the teeny angsty scenes.
Rewatch: I doubt I’ll watch this again just because the acting was really distracting.
Overall this is a typical school idol drama so don’t go into it expecting much.

Acting/Cast: Loooove the cast. Godfrey Gao is hot but his acting is not as matured as the rest of the cast. The chemistries between Godfrey and Joe and between Joe and Zhang Han were VERY good. I honestly believe that this drama is as successful as it is now mostly due to the chemistry between the leads. Will you be in team Godfrey or team Zhang Han? Which man will you cheer on?
Music: Good enough but not something I will get excited over.
Rewatch value: Minus the boring and draggy bits in between where the office and business politics kind of took over, there are parts of the drama that I would gladly rewatch anytime simply for watching the chemistry between the leads. This drama makes me a Zhang Han fan. I never thought much of him from "Let's go watch meteor shower" which was the chinese version of Hana Yori Dango. It was a complete flop. But in The Queen of SOP, he shone! Now, I want to watch more dramas with him in it! And Godfrey Gao... even though there is much he needs to learn about acting, the man is a walking hunk of yumminess. I seriously do not know how Joe Chen could ever choose between the two of them!
Overall: Good entertainment and eye-candy value but most importantly for a romance drama, the chemistry between the leads are oh-so-yummy!
Conclusion: Yes, I am raving like a young fool over some good looking blokes....but anyone who knows me know that I do not give looks that much credit in a drama anyways. My brownie points go to the chemistry between the leads. Being yummy is a bonus! Which team am I in? I'm in team Zhang Han. I always like to champion the guy who is your best friend and who had always supported you all the way. I reckon the best relationships stem from such invaluable friendship.
My advice: Watch it, but feel free to fast forward the middle parts with all the office and business politics. Enjoy!

It has mostly light moments and some of them really make you laugh. While I am not happy with the romance in this, it still gives some very unforgettable scenes between Nakatsu and Ashiya. While gender bender scenario was funny here too, in spite of that almost all the characters fell flat. Sano had no character development at all except for one point which was that he started doing what he used to before. Other than getting inspired and jumping, he really provided with no entertainment at all. I wasn't that big a fan of Ashiya, but her strong determination wins her points. My favorite character was of course- Nakatsu. He is colorful, loving and funny at the same time. He is probably going to remain one of my favorites from jdramas forever. Almost all memorable scenes I recall from this show have Nakatsu in them. His unconditional love for Ashiya till the end really moved me because it was so sweet. He was always there for her no matter what.
However, if you would want to watch this show- only watch it for the comedy. The romance was disappointing. Maybe if I had liked Sano I would have loved his relationship with Ashiya too but as I said- I like Nakatsu all the way. And I don't know what to rate the soundtrack because I cannot recall any tunes from the show.
Anyway, the rewatch value is still intact because of my favorite Nakatsu and Ashiya moments.

this drama is hilarious and creates situations where you laugh so hard that that you can fall from the bed..:D
this drama deals which an older woman younger man relationship.though Sam Soon is fat to the world i dnt find her one at all.she's pretty and has her priorities set straight.she is not like other leads in kdramas where they cry and thnink the guy will come back.she fights for it and this is the reson why sam soon steals the show from jin hun.hyun bin is overshadowed by Kim Sun ah because the woman is just too good at her acting.the leads share a commendable chemistry filled with quirky and tension filled moments.hyun bin had done a good job too as he looks amazing in this drama compared to secret garden.the whole conflicts that come in a drama all have reasons.
the saddest part is the 2nd lead.she's jst as amazing but it all doesnt end up in tragedy and Daniel Henney is a treat to watch
the drama is light and filled with enjoyable moments.:)

To start with,Tae Kyung is one of those characters whom a girl could easily fall for because in reality a girl will always choose a bad guy over the good one.Tae Kyung is someone whom one hates at first site but as the episodes go further i liked him slowly..park shin hye as the lead is amazing.she knows how to act and can really make cute adoring faces where any guy could fall in love with as so many do in the drama.
the villain is vicious trying to ruin everything but it is the three musketeers who are always there saving Go Mi Nyu.
the romance is also also good throughout which keeps us hooked
the humour of this drama is one of the best.it was so hilarious that mother had to come to the room to ask if a whole army was laughin with me or not..:D
the girl disguising as the guy is one of the most common formula in dramas but i love how kdramas seem to bring the same story in so many different ways changin it in the process.the music score is amazing
the only problem this drama had was that after 12th episode it sort of dragged where i didnt know where it was going.but nothing can be perfect so even with its flaws this drama was a good one..to be rewatched again and again

This drama has an amazing cast from Gong Yoo to Eun hye.All are at their best acting in this drama.Eun Hye who is so feminine, its hard to imagine her as a boy but she pulls off the role amazingly making us realize that she's a good actress who knows how to act.
coming to gong yoo.that guy has a screen presence where its impossible not to notice how he acts to the way he looks in aviators..:D
He really pulls us in on his daddy issues and his confused love with the lead and the 2nd lead.
The plot may seem very mediocre initially but as one proceeds further into the drama we can see the plot is not the main question but basically the growth of the characters.Throughout the drama the characters grow which makes them seem more human with human follies and vices.
the chemistry between the lead is taut with tension where we dont knw if the next moment they are gonna shout at each other or staring at each other with longing.Gong Yoo and Eun Hye really know how to get those tears falling because in this drama there is a lot of angst involved because of the gender bender and other situations.
the music score simply is superb.one could rewatch the show just for the songs.the songs are picked very selectively telling us about the moods the characters are in and since most of them are in english it makes it more amazing because instead of goin online and checking the english lyrics for korean songs we just understnd what the songs are saying
i give it an 8 for the story because everybody has atleast sampled one drama where there is a girl disguising as a guy.The love story of the second leads is equally engrossing and has its highs and lows. There is noone who is as vicious as Se Na(the villain from Rooftop prince) so this drama is a bit light on the nerves where one doesnt feel like killing the ex.
the only thing i found flawed was the extension of the drama by 1 episode which really hurt it beacause the ending was not satisfying to me.the drama does feel a bit dragged in few episodes but if one has the patience im sure they'r not gona regret continuing it.
so go and watch this amazing piece of drama if you havent seen it yet..

Story: Let's say, to be honest, there isn't much of a real plot going on. It's just the girl trying to win the guy over, basically, for the entire 16 episodes. Yes, it does get boring at some parts. First it's the I-hate-you-but-you-just-keep-coming-to-me kind of relationship which I really don't understand. I did not hate this drama like some people do, I also do not LOVE this drama either. I think it's a drama to watch if you have a lot of free time and nothing to do(preferably in the summer).
Acting/Cast: First off, I don't feel the two leads have much chemistry between each other, at all. Jung So Min acted her character well but it's a very light drama, so then again you don't need to possess great talent to be able to act in Playful Kiss. Kim Hyun Joong was alright, I'm not a squealing fan girl for him because I haven't seen any dramas besides PK with him in it. Overall, the acting was alright, nothing actually stood out.
Music: I watched this too long ago to remember the music. :/
Re-watch value: Well, I typically don't re-watch dramas. I only re-watch if they are masterpieces like The Princess' Man. So giving this a 6 is a fair choice because there are some sweet funny moments that made me laugh.
Overall: I wouldn't call this a terrible drama. You just need to have patience to watch it. I recommend this drama to people who just want a light drama to watch when they have nothing to do.
