Kurosawa, the perfect man
Honestly one of the main reasons I love this so much is Kurosawa. Let's give this man a round of applause. So, he is probably the sweetest and least problematic man I have ever seen in any show ever. The way he regards Adashi and appreciates him when Adashi thought that he wasn't noticed by anyone just makes me so happy. Even his thoughts are all pure. If this was a real story you know Adashi would have caught him thinking something dirty from time to time but I think he respects Adashi so much that his mind just doesn't go there. He worries constantly about making Adashi uncomfortable by being too close.
I've become used to seeing certain things in BLs. Sexual assault, physical intimidation, sexism, so much more. Things like this make me sick and have ruined good shows for me like Why R U. While watching this I was just waiting for him to do something that would annoy me but there was nothing, nothing at all. We need to hold our BLs to a higher standard; hell, we need to hold MEN to a higher standard. The way Kurosawa behaves with Adashi should be the bare minimum.
Thank you Japan for allowing me to see what the perfect man looks like. He can:
1) control himself and keep it in his pants.
2) respect his partner fully and never push their boundaries.
3) read his partner's discomfort from their expression and body language when they seem unable to answer yes or no.
Kurosawa, sweetest man ever. I think I will be fantasizing about meeting a man like him for the rest of my life.
As for everything else: I liked the story, it was a weird but unique idea and was well done. However, I didn't care for the second couple; I thought they were an unnecessary addition. The acting was good as well. I especially liked Adashi's actor, he was really good at being this puppy faced gay panicking baby. Lol. The music was fine. And rewatch value, I would watch this again and again. Such a good BL. Hope everyone gives it a chance.

I hate it but I love it.
"They're so toxic together," I say as I click on another episode.Let's start with the things I did not like.
Seriously. How can I watch a series where the couple is so awful yet enjoy it?
First, I don't care what anyone says, Tharn literally molests Type. Multiple times he goes in on Type while the boy is actively saying no. Second, Type is a homophobic shithead. We know this. Yet he's begging for dick by the fourth episode. Make it make sense please. Also, Type is so emotionally abusive. Yet Tharn is such a glutton for punishment, like Type insults him and he's like "uwu that's my baby" Plus Tharn defends Type's homophobia multiple times, which is gross.
Lastly there were many many plotholes that were not filled. Like what happened to San? What happens to Tum? What happened to Type's friend that came out to him? How is Type so okay with PDA by the last episode? What about his family? Why was Lhong's ending so...neutral?
Okay. Anyway, lets go into the things I did like.
The lead actors had amazing chemistry. The actor for Type was great at pretending to be homophobic. Actually the actors for Tharn and Lhong in particular stood out to me with their acting. They were really good at portraying strong emotions.
The trauma was handled in a careful, sensitive way. Type's actor did great with that, as did Tar's. The steamy scenes were super sexy. That's what I might come back to, actually, the steamy scenes. Lol. The breakup made me sob like a baby. This drama did a great job at showing the sensitive sides of men. There was a lot of crying and I think that is super healthy especially in societies that like to put people into boxes. I know that despite having so many criticisms, I've rated it relatively high, but that's because overall I did enjoy it. I was hooked in the first twenty minutes. It kept me watching. I was worried about the characters and their problems. So I grudgingly give it these high-ish scores. That said, please don't make tv shows or stories like these that have consent issues. It sucks.
Edit: okay I realized there's a second season and some specials, all of which I have now watched. Most of my questions above got answered. But it was honestly more stressful. These boys don't know how to communicate. And they fight about such meaningless bullshit. Literally every other day they're fighting about something stupid. Type is super aggressive. He can't speak kindly to most people at all, not even Tharn. Most people are nice to their partners. Type is not. He's a sarcastic asshole like 73% of the time. I don't care if you've had a shitty day at work, do not take it out on your partner. These two are the same as most toxic relationships: "When it's bad, it's really bad. But when it's good, it's really good." That's probably the only reason I could keep watching. The cute parts between the two of them were really cute.
In terms of character development, the second season was much improved from the first. I found the character of Champ very interesting because I couldn't really figure out what his sexual orientation was. Not that it has to be specified. Type's never was either. Just because he likes one man doesn't mean he likes men in general. (I just can't imagine this character sucking dick. I can't.) But Champ appears to have no interest in romance or sex. He states that being single is easiest, that he doesn't understand love. He may be ace, I dunno. That'd be some really cool representation. But he does like Doc, and their story was a nice wholesome distraction from the craziness of the main story. So that's why I liked Champ. He was a unique person and I haven't seen many characters like him who don't really worry about love.
Edit2: returned once again to score the rewatch value and music higher because I literally just watched it all again after a week trying to keep it out of my head lol and also the music gets better the more I hear it. I'm starting to think I like this show more than I'm willing to admit 😑

I just watched this show three times in the span of one week.
With how problematic this show is, I like it more than I should. To be clear, I think Saint and everyone he worked with did a marvelous job. Especially for his first time as a producer. It was probably really hard. It's always hard doing things you've never done. But Saint has a lot of experience as a BL actor. He knows what people like to see. And I think he's probably sick of some of the same tropes that we as the audience are, which might be why he picked this story to turn into a drama. I think this story is actually very unique. It's about a stalker who is actually not insane. My personal evaluation of Toh is that...he could be worse. He could definitely be better, and I really wish he was, but he could be much worse.
When we think of stalkers we imagine a person who follows their target around, spying on them. Someone who hurts anyone who gets close to them. Peeping toms. Insane people who kidnap the person they're obsessed with and r*pe them. Send dead things in packages to their significant other.
The difference is that yes, Toh is creepy, but he's only harming himself by doing what he does. He won't hurt Nuea or anyone he gets close to. So in my opinion, his feelings for Nuea are less of an obsession than what you might see from a typical stalker, because he does love and care for Nuea. He's willing to stay away from him even though he wants to be close. He's also aware that what he does (collecting things) is weird. He feels bad about it, but he doesn't seem to be able to help it. I would argue that it's a mental illness, in the same way that hoarding is, where you know it's bad for you, but you can't help it. You know you should throw that thing away. But something won't let you.
I'm not justifying his behavior. There is something seriously wrong with a person who digs through the trash for a soda can that was only touched for less than a second, who collects crabs, tangerines, a pig's head, a bandaid wrapper, a pillowcase and popsicle sticks and then vaccuum seals all those things and keeps them in boxes. Who has a whole wall covered in pictures of his obsession. Who cares more about getting a picture of someone kissing him than the fact that it actually happened.
To be honest the series should have ended with Toh seeing a specialist or something and getting help for his problem, and throwing all that weird shit in the garbage. I actually think it would have been funny if Nuea had secretly done the same thing. I mean he's as freaky as Toh so it would not have surprised me.
