7.0/10 - Books are romance, books are love.

As a diehard bookworm, that little romantic sweetness that Se Ri does to Jung Hyuk's bookshelves was the most romantic and best thing ever. Yes, yes. There was that great romantic good by. "A single step should be okay." That just proves how much of a bookworm I am. But let me get real. This episode was intensely romantic. I LOVED IT. So first of all we didn't need the kidnapping from Se Ri's POV, it really didn't add anything. Plus, they flashed to the Wiretapper's son picking up the present later anyway. That's what really dragged down this episode for me. Too much flashbacks. Not enough in the present now build up! The Switzerland revelation was perfect, but the other stuff not so much. It's always been one of my biggest drama pet peeves. It's one of the reasons I really debated giving this episode a 6 instead of a 7. It really held it back. Even with 10 star lines like this: "I can't believe this. That day, I was really lonely. That day I wished to die then. I wanted to go to a beautiful place and quietly disappear so I didn't trouble anybody. That's why I went there. But you were. . . there. Even when you didn't know it, you saved my life." - Se RiJung Hyuk: "You can date men and hang out with other people as if nothing happened. But don't be lonely again.
Don't ever think about disappearing at a scenic place. You have me. "
Se Ri: "You won't be by my side."
Jung Hyuk: "I won't be by your side, but I will always hope that you won't be lonely. bey happy until the end of your life. I would be grateful if you do that." So I called it! Jung Hyuk's dad did the nabbing! Jung Hyuk's mother is smart. She zeroed in fast to what was going on. That Se Ri was what her son needed and that they were in love. Watching Jung Hyuk's father realize it WAS EVERYTHING!!!!!! Ha-ha! What a great actor. Let me tell you these to are in love and while there's no face to face full on confession. Their looks, actions, and words say it. Even if it isn't a straight up "I love you." These moments are more impactful than many other dramas in which the leads come out and say "I like you" or "love you." True. This is a strong episode. Firstly Seo Dan and Seung Jun flirt. Seung Jun even carries Seo Dan back to her house. Her mom having to bribe the elevator person to not gossip. Ha-ha! The evil Lieutenant is in big trouble as Jung Hyuk is multiple steps ahead!! Woot! Woot! The Wiretapper might get bold and try and do the right thing now. Se Ri's mother is seeing the truth about her daughter. So there might be reconciliation there. That would be lovely. Well I'm off to the next episode. You can't leave off on a cliffhanger kiss scene like that!!

7.0/10 - A great start that won't confuse viewers and a fabulous introduction.

Woot! Woot! Writer Park Ji Eun is back! I’ve been so curious as to what she would come up with after Legend of the Blue Sea. She comes up with an heiress who gets blown away by a tornado into North Korea. Where a North Korean soldier stumbles upon her. Honestly I was really excited when it was more “The Mountain Between Us” plot when the synopsis dropped early 2019, but I think this will be fun. The writing already proves to be just as charming and lovable as Park Ji Eun’s other works. I mean we already have Se Ri using her dating scandal to sell her products and the tension with her estranged family as her father asks her to take over the company. Jung Hyuk the perfect soldier, AKA man. Which still remains a mystery. I’m sure he’ll remain aloof for a while yet. Not to mention probably the most hilarious and human goofballs for Jung Hyuk’s North Korean patrol unit. Leave it to Park Ji Eun to make lovable and hilarious North Korean guys, while balancing it with some clearly despicable deeds and a villain already. All balanced by Park Ji Eun’s signature humor after all flying tractors and pigs in the tornado scene are so her! There are some sub plots that right now are being mildly developed. Like Se Ri's brother is robbed and the guy is apparently going to hide in North Korea. So that's interesting. So the director. I have so many of his dramas on my list and from the ones I’ve glimpsed at he has a great eye. The aerial shots are amazing. Even Se Ri’s whole chase scene running through stunning fields to forest are lovely. Fans of Park Ji Eun’s dramas have come to anticipate, expect, and love the beautiful cinematography that the directors bring. Clearly director Lee Jung Hyo is up for the task. Se Ri is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with. I love that she’s a self made woman. After she left the family, and it sounds like they were only to happy to cut her off, she makes her own company. Her own father respects her enough for it and is willing to let her take over his company. Sadly the rest of her family are backstabbers and the scene with her mother was so sad. Despite evil mom’s being too often used. Clearly there are people who are not gonna want her found. Though I love her little henchman being so worried to find her. She’s clearly a smart woman, and I love how athletic she is. From being able to out run soldiers to the paragliding that got her into this mess! Ha-ha. So I found it a bit odd when it took her for ever to realize that she was in North Korea. Despite obvious signs. I thought the woman they presented would duck and cover faster. Yes she’s had a rough day, head injuries, blah-blah. Which leads me to wonder what path she took at the fork in the road? Did she follow Jung Hyuk’s directions? Or did she not trust him? Or is she just that bad with direction? She should have been able to tell which direction she went. The whole chase was hilarious. As the soldier calls her stupid for running that way as he chases her and then shoots at her as he tries to not make her jump the fence!! This was a SOLID first episode. Laying down the plot and the players. Sure Jung Hyuk is just another perfect guy that Park Ji Eun has created, but the rest should come later. No really he’s like a super soldier. It’s coherent and introduces everyone well. I love a clean first episode. Not to mention I love the seriousness mixed with the playful humor I’ve come to love from this writer. Not to mention another unique plot to sweep me away. No aliens or mermaids, but I’m very excited to see the “real world” drama from this writer. I like the cast a lot and so far I’m very impressed! Things are looking good! Oh, don’t forget the extended scenes at the end of the episodes. It was fun seeing Jung Hyuk observe Se Ri. But that is totally Park Ji Eun’s way. ^_-

6.0/10 - Now he was drunk!

Poor Lin Luo Jing! All that suspnse with her teasing him about already having her first kiss. That revving up with Zhong Wu Mei's smile as he she tells him it was a dog! Then he's so nervous he's passed out drunk in the bridal room, poor Lin Luo Jing was actually looking forward to it! I also love that Zhong Wu Mei found Lin Luo Jing's stash of naughty books. Though I'm wondering when Lin Luo Jing is going to tell Zhong Wu Mei that her father is a dangerous man. Not to mention that she's up on the chopping block again! I'm not even sure if she really ever was off it. Though I feel as if the Prime Minister should be very nervous if his daughter should just suddenly die! Like his connections dry up! This was a very fun episode and it keeps building things up! I was right about the dagger and Liu Xiu Wen. I figured he would be a royal of this destroyed land/nation! I was just wondering how Yi Yi will tie into this?

5.0/10

So if I'm getting this right Lin Luo Jing is letting Liu Xiu Wen go, or at least expelling him, because she thinks he's in love with Yi Yi. At first I thought it was because she really believed he was trying to rob the place. I'm a bit confused on what she settled on. Clearly Yi Yi has to see the two are in love. *sighs* Of course Lin Luo Jing just ignored the fact that the outfit was Zhong Wu Mei's mother. OF COURSE THE JERK didn't even think about what was gonna happen if the Prime Minsiter saw his daughter in maid's uniform. Lin Luo Jing still has to be very afraid of her own father killing her, while trying to escape from an unwanted marriage. So where does she think she's going now that Liu Xiu Wen is gone. She can't go back "home" and she's leaving Zhong Wu Mei? Jiang Xuan Yu really amped up the charm. Though I feel like he's not really fighting for her. It's all sweet and charming. However, he's waiting for another man to make the final decision. But it's also hers. *sighs* There were some brilliant moments though. Like with all the maids and the wet nurse rail on Zhong Wu Mei! I was so disappointed when it was only in his head. Though it's awesome that he knows how well Lin Luo Jing is loved and all the ladies are thinking it. His mind came up with it! Not to mention that they staged that eleborate "play" to try and get him to go. Which made me realize how much I would love it if Xi Que and Zhong Wu Mei's royal guard end up together! The episode cuts off as Jiang Xuan Yu has Lin Luo Jing dancing in a snow wonderland and charming her. With Zhong Wu Mei rushing off on horse. Only rushing cause he thinks she's ill because his guard told him that they had spent all day at the physicians! Maybe his guard is really tricky! ^_- To the next episode!!!!

6.0/10 I'm still not really vibing Zhong Wu Mei.

I'm still not really vibing Zhong Wu Mei. He still hasn't realized that he likes her. The wet nurse told Lin Luo Jing that he likes her. How important the slippers are and so on. They've been better to each other. Apparently the month time table sped by. It didn't feel like it. Both the writing and storytelling are failing in the aspects of making time feel real and making me warm up to Zhong Wu Mei. It's cute, but I need more. MORE!Jiang Xuan Yu has also realized that Zhong Wu Mei is in love with Lin Luo Jing. So I wonder if his plan from the beginning was to use Yi Yi to try and draw Zhong Wu Mei's attention else where, or something? I feel at times he wants to push the two together, Zhong Wu Me and Lin Luo Jing. So Yi Yi is the assassin that has been trying to kill Lin Luo Jing? Or at least it's complicated because of Liu Xiu Wen ties. How are Liu Xiu Wen and Yi YI connected? I thought maybe brother and sister, but I think they're just friends working for these rebels. Looks like the plan of the rebels is to still kill Lin Luo Jing. Not to mention the Prime Minister is coming to visit. While Lin Juo Jing is thinking she wants to stay, at least before this latest misunderstanding. Zhong Wu Me and Lin Luo Jing's banter at the end of this episode was very cute! Though it looks like Yi Yi has put Liu Xiu Wen in danger! Darn that girl!

7.0/10 - Wow! It's so nice to see a smart and competent female lead!!!!

Wow! It's so nice to see a smart and competent female lead!!!! It's a bit tiring and exhausting when most of the female leads in dramaland, mainly Chinese and Korean, tend to fall n the completely helpless and hopeless. Lin Luo Jing is very compitnant and clever. She's great and all the chores and improvises to make thing better. Not only that she had killer kitchen skills! I mean wow!!!! She must have liked to cook and bake. I'm competent at both, but she's next level! The trope of Zhong Wu Mei treating her badly. Just as he's about to treat her good there's a mix up! Oops! Or something she doesn't know about hurting him. It's annoying, but I'm use to this dance. Though Unique Lady so far lacks the skill in the writing to sway me over to Zhong Wu Mei. Thumb down.It was super cute how the maids were so excited by Lin Luo Jing and Liu Xiu Wen's interactions. Even they are team in Luo Jing and Liu Xiu Wen! Hua Ying Chi clearly has a secret past with Lin Luo Jing . Jiang Xuan Yu is trying to help Lin Luo Jing out, and maybe even seems to be trying to get Zhong Wu Mei and her together. The Prime Minister has clearly heard about how Lin Luo Jing has been demoted to maid. Zhong Wu Mei makes a game with Lin Luo Jing that she can go free in a month if she impresses him as a maid. However, can she really leave if everyone believes that they've had sex? (Yeah I could put that prettier, but I won't.) Now I'm wondering if Lin Luo Jing's father is gonna send people to kill her. Not to mention Yi Yi's involvement in this shadow group and how they're gonna use poor Liu Xiu Wen!

The cynic in my kind of can't believe that Lin Luo Jing offed herself like that.

The cynic in my kind of can't believe that Lin Luo Jing offed herself like that. After all she doesn't really know what happens when all her lives in the game are used up. If she's a gamer I'd assume she's in to other nerdy things. Thus would no the concept that anytime someone crosses over you die you die. Then again the fact that she has multiple lives does muddy the concept up a bit. Now the romantic in me was so moved! I mean first Liu Xiu Wen is all adorable. Helping Lin Luo Jing to escape and then he's all crushing for Lin Luo Jing when she gives him this innocent face cheek bop/squeeze that she just gave to her maid! Ha-ha! Then for Lin Luo Jing to fully commit and realize that the Prime Minister out plotted them and Liu Xiu Wen dies! She's already that committed to her love. While Jiang Xuan Yu is confessing to who he believes is Lin Luo Jing. Wow! So he was willing to help pull a runaway bride! Though I wonder how much he's in to her after her drunken wedding! So Lin Luo Jing's only option is to marry Zhong Wu Mei. Of course she doesn't want to consummate and Zhong Wu Mei is on board with that. Except the Harmony Wine that apparently has super hallucinogen aphrodisiac brewed into it! Yikes! Lin Luo Jing did say some mean things to Zhong Wu Mei to try and snap him out of their sexual duties for the wedding night. However, wouldn't you if you were trying to avoid sleeping with a man you hated and had just saved the man you loved from dying!!!! Of course the Lin Luo Jing says the trigger words that rile Zhong Wu Mei up and not only does he try and force himself onto her. He then demotes her to his maid. No one to call her Royal Consort. Blah, blah, blah. It's clear this drama is gonna have Zhong Wu Mei and Lin Luo Jing end up together. Though I find it hard to believe that they can succesfully pull Lin Luo Jing, and the viewer's, hearts away from Liu Xiu WenJust when you didn't think Lin Luo Jing's harem couldn't get any more crazier this episode: She has a dream/vision in which she is training with Hua Ying Chi and their both deity's. He then comes to her and says it's okay if she can't remember and to be happy. Um! What plot twist is this!!!!!! I think it's cool. So maybe she'll remember and get some bad @$$ fight skills!! Yes please!I'm really enjoying this series. I feel like a meany for not bumping up the rating to 6, but it just needs a little something extra before. I can. I know it really broke my heart when I thought "they aren't really gonna kill him off, he's too high up on the MDL character page! Plus, it simply isn't done. " You know what. Forget it I am bumping it up. This episode did bring the extra ump. I mean I had my hand pressed to my mouth holding back my shock, laughter, and wedding night amusement. Oh, and did Zhong Wu Mei really cut his hand to stain that cloth as "proof" that he and Lin Luo Jing did their wedding duties. Or was the cut a happy accident? Why did he do it? Pride or protection? Hmmmmmmm?

5.0/10 - Was that boiling water?

Was that boiling water he had her doused in? I saw steam . . . but they probably just didn't want to chill her. Though why would a healthy person pass out immediately from water being tossed on them unless it was boiling? Because I don't think they could create freakishly cold. I need a clear explanation. I know they like weak female leads, but normal water making them ill is too much. Also, minus points for Zhong Wu Mei. He knew she was gonna be punished. He egged Lin Luo Jing's father on!! I don't care if he eventually decided after it was done that it was too severe or whatever. He saw what the punishment was, out ranked everyone, and could have easily said it was to severe. Especially since Lin Luo Jing is is fiance. Lame. Liu Xiu Wen was a twist! So he clearly cares for Lin Luo Jing. He's "working for her father" but protecting her. BUT. The biggest twist is the masked man and the cause that Liu Xiu Wen is fighting for. Which is probably linked to the people who made the knife. The people shall rise! There's plenty of intrigue there. Not to mention with murder involving Zhong Wu Mei's mom. I bet that Liu Xiu Wen's leader is probably Zhong Shi Li. Or someone tied to him.Lin Luo Jing is convinced that she shouldn't marry Zhong Wu Mei and that Liu Xiu Wen should still her away on the wedding day. Though I'm not sure if she realizes that maybe that's not so safe. But Liu Xiu Wen is also tasked with taking her away or else his leader will kill her. Either way Lin Luo Jing can't marry Zhong Wu Mei because it will make her father too powerful, and apparently the man is evil beyond what he has done or will do for his affair. Hmmmmm. More intrigue. Now for the love speculation. I'm sure Lin Luo Jing will be forced to spend time with Zhong Wu Mei. Thus falling in love. So she will actually want to marry Zhong Wu Mei. However, even though she changes her mind Liu Xiu Wen still needs to still her away or she will be assassinated. DrAMA!!!!

5.0/10 - I keep getting the names jumbled!

Hua Ying Chi appeared. AKA (I believe) Xiao Hua Hua. The picture and name Hua Ying Chi match him! That has to be the Sword Deity. So I thought he was a fluke. Especially after Lin Luo Jing gets killed again. Despite danger warnings. Despite having to swipe danger warnings! This girl needs to get with the program. We don't know what happens if she dies in the game. Most stories like this suggest you die for real. Maybe since she gets five lives that won't happen. I've been racking my brain and I don't think I've ever read/watched one where the lead gets multiple lives. So it's confirmed. Liu Xiu Wen is working for Lin Luo Jing's father. Who despite saying he wants his daughter to marry is actively trying to get her killed. Even though he just told Liu Xiu Wen that she forgot everything and was now an asset with the impending marriage! The royal Zhong Wu Mei is creeping me out. He is stalking Lin Luo Jing. How did he find her this second time! At least Lin Luo Jing has figured out some of this plot and has decided to use Zhong Wu Mei to stay alive. I wonder how this will play out with the whole drama of her going to enter Zhong Wu Mei's residence before proper marriage? Though he said she disappeared on their wedding night? Maybe that's why Daddy Dearest wanted her dead? Hmmmmm. Are they getting married so son!!? Cool.

6.0/10 - It's pretty fun, so I'll keep going.

It's always been annoying how the female lead thinks the guy she's gonna fall in love with later is the evil doer. Just because she greatly dislikes him means the person is capable of doing awful things. Then of course the real bad guy is the one she's kind to. Eventually winning that person over, but of course by then she's in love with the male lead. It's just tiring. She doesn't know anyone. Someone tried to murder your character multiple times! They're all suspect!! ALL OF THEM!!!Cool set up to introduce another female lead and to have Lin Luo Jing dance again. I think it's funny that C-dramas seem to use the cross dressing trope often, but keep poking fun about how stupid it is and that everyone can recognize them. Nothing has blown me away by this drama, but it's not bad either. I mean Oh My Emperor had a rough start, but it turned out pretty awesome. So I think it's worth giving Unique Lady a go at this point. It's doing an excellent job at being fun right now. So I'll take it. At least the writers are doing a good job with the world building, standard characters, decent pacing, and the actors are fun. Fun! Fun! Fun!

5.0/10 - I did get some of the characters mixed up.

I did get some of the characters mixed up. I don't think the sword guy is on the MDL page and that probably means besides the beginning we're probably not gonna get more of him. Unless his name changes . . . hmmm. This is so weird as to why Lin Luo Jing's father is happy to have his daughter die no matter what. Because he even said the marriage would be advantageous to him. Plus, she clearly has no memory. I guess he's gonna be the real villain. Not to mention that Lin Luo Jing was stupid enough to waste two lives! I mean if the King was that kill happy why would you do such a awful dance for him!!!! Or at least what he would think is awful. Yikes! There's clearly plenty of intrigue going on. Either Liu Xiu Wen is actively working to save Lin Luo Jing or she's just getting in his way. Or he is looking to kill her. Or it just looks like that for now. It's interesting that Zhong Wu Mei was so worried about anyone seeing him save Lin Luo Jing. Espeically since he clearly likey the dance. Hmmmm. I wonder how long this will take to warm him up to her. The episodes are short and this is a fairly short C-drama. Also, Liu Xiu Wen's reaction to seeing some of Lin Luo Jing's skin as she tried to get him to look away from her naughty book was everything. I think I rewatched it four times!!!!

5.0/10 - The lead is more tolerable.

The lead is more tolerable, or at least less creepy. Not constantly drooling over the male leads in ways that I think she needs a shock collar for. *ZAP!* "Bad Lin Luo Jing! Bad! We don't objectify people like that!" She acts like a real person more and I appreciate it. Maybe some might say her interest in a smutty book might be "creepy", but I think that's perfectly normal and healthy. I like my leads to have the freedom to explore their sexuality and thoughts about it. Especially after her "father's" talk of purity and what not.On the male interest fronts: Lin Luo Jing gets tricked by her half sisters into going to the King's party where she will be optioned for a bride. Liu Xiu Wen (her bodyguard) checks to see if this mysterious man who rescued Lin Luo Jing stole her virtue, and pretends like the bath scene did not happen. Blaming knocking her out on a branch falling on her. Lin Luo Jing buy Liu Xui Wen a dagger that I'm sure is going to be some kind of dramatic back story. Now lady's man iang Xuan Yu sees Lin Luo Jing dressed up as a boy as she buys herself dirty books. He also sees her admire a hairpin and I"m pretty sure he buys it. So I feel confident that he knows the "man" was in fact Lin Luo Jing. Poor Hua Ying Chi (the sword deity in white) is just a back burner thought and I'm sure his character will remain so. The writers do a lot to keep up this world in the game and to keep puzzling Lin Luo Jing about what kind of game this is. Which makes me very curious. She spies her "father" having an affair, but only the viewers are pivvy to what is being said. Which is that her own father tried to have her killed after she found out about the affair I assume. She was gonna do something to jeopardize her father's affair and apparently he will do anything to make his mistress his real wife. Yikes! That ending though! Lin Luo Jing teasing her poor maid about reading the dirty book while the maid is "pounding away". Was hilarious and very odd choice.

4.0/10 - A solid start up.

So I give Unique Lady props for setting up the world and information right away. It's a "find you're true love" game and for every 10 hours you're in the game only 1 minute has past in the "real world". If it can be trusted she hasn't really been sucked in. Only her mind.Unique Lady, from the title, promised a unique lady! However, I find Lin Luo Jing to be very typical. She's the "big personality type" who's loud. The game establishes that it will be hard for her to fall in love and find protection because of this. Not being the "dainty" character will make it harder for her. *sighs* Why is it the independent or "none dainty" characters are pervy air brains?Lin Luo Jing spends an annoying part of this episode spacing out in fantasies about men and staring at them like a perv. If a man did this to women it would be clear it's wrong. To me this is still wrong. We can see that all these men are yummy specimen. Do you have to make the lead some creepy @$$ perv? I felt gross watching her drool over them. Not to mention the fact that she picks a challenge she think she can pass, but loses. Really? This is such a lame stereotype. I hope things shame up. I can not abide watching a drama overly sexual the characters. *shivers* Or a lead this creepy.

6.0/10

Honestly when Sheng Nann was questioning manly walks I thought she was saying Fei Fei's modern walk was too manly! The advice is interesting and I like the advice the ladies give her. While Sheng Nan should not change to be with a man they smartly say that Wu Chen likes her as is. Other men might need her to "girly" up a bit more. I really like that Sheng Nan was bold enough to find Wu Chen and try and get things started. Now if only Yu Ran wasn't a creep. I love her, but spying on Mo Ran while he baths is just yuck! It's not cute, nor acceptable, just because she's a woman. Not to mention I hate the misunderstanding this whole things has caused between Yu Ran and Fei Fei. At least Fei Fei got to tell Mo Ran she's not interested. If only Yu Ran handn't run! I hate it when characters flee before seeing the whole thing! This was another great episode and I love that it's establing Sheng Nan, Yu Ran, and Fei Fei as friends! It's so rare for women characters to actually get along and be friends that it's a treat! A beautiful, magical treat! Also, it needs to be mentioned. Tang Yi is starting to feel close enough to Fei Fei that he mustache pranks her! >_<

I hate it when I'm disappointed. So of course once Fei Fei healed Tang Yi he'd know she was the constellation holder of Ophiuchus. Standard drama trope is that his hatred for the Ophiuchus would make him cast Fei Fei out. Despite all her kindness and the fact that she just saved his life. So by making her run off he causes her to be in danger and do exactly what he was afraid she would do as Ophiuchus. It didn't matter that she was drugged. I'm sorry, but this is uber betrayal. If she isn't pissed with him in the next season I'm a gonna be pissed! This guy just tossed her under the bus like she was nothing. I don't care if he's the Emperor. He's supposed to see past prejudice not get mucked up in it more! That said Wu Chen and Sheng Nan were totally awesome. Though were was the other constellation holder that has fire powers? I didn't see him clearly and why wouldn't he go cray-crazy using his powers. He was drugged longer!!!! Honestly I did not think it would END THIS WAY! I'm a bit nervous how things are going to proceed from here. Fei Fei needs to get angry, and I don't want her to pout and try to when Tang Yi back. She doesn't need to prove herself. Such a betrayal I always have a hard time getting over. He needs to work for her heart again, and I even think there should be a more worthy man to step up. Of course that won't happen because they are the LEAD COUPLE and with that comes total forgiveness from the female lead. *sighs* I did have to fast foward through the crappy fight scenes and even Tang Yi's dramatic flashback. Boring. Overall I hated that such a great drama took the easy and predicatble why. Hopefully since it has great realized female leads that Fei Fei gets her justice and some real time.
