It can still all go tits up but this was okay

Caved and watched eventhough I wanted to wait. This episode review is full of spoilers. Just saying. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!Still here? Okay. This will upset some people but .....I am VERY satisfied with the death of Soo-hyun. She had no purpose whatsoever. She was really interesting at the beginning and it's a good thing when the MC has a best friend who supports him or her, but her character lacked any kind of development. She was Kim Ga-on's simp. That was about it. Kim Ga-on confessing his love for her and kissing her etc. was disgusting and weird, and no, I was just grossed out. For one thing, it made no sense. Confessing your love to the most boring character in the whole KDrama? Really now? Makes absolutely no sense. I know it is weird but it would make more sense if Kang Y uo-han fucked Sun-ah than this. Sorry, writers. Also, it felt a bit desperate and also cliched, like the writers were thinking "Look, he confessed to her, now we can finally kill her and it'll have an emotional impact, right? Right?!" Kim Ga-on is not Willow and Soo-hyun is not Tara (sorry for bringing Buffy in) and even that sucked. Regarding impact. Yes and no. Yes her death had an impact because I felt a bit sorry for Kim Ga-on for losing his last family member, but apart from that...no. It was just "Thank God, she's FINALLY gone". I hate love triangles :g: The way is finally clear for Kang Yo-han. Don't fuck it up, buddy! Her being indirectly killed by Sun-ah was good too... at least this is my current take. There is a worry that I have and it is a justified concern - that this show will end up like "The Merciless" and this is NOT what I want to see. I really hope that Kang Yo-han had no hand in the death of Soo-hyun. Maybe Sun-ah will try to blame Kang Yo-han, maybe he has a hand in it - either is something I do not want to see. If it is clear that it is Sun-ah then Yo-han and Ga-on will be okay...if not...yeah... don't want to think about it...I loved that Kang Yo-han is the one who definitely fell more in love. All the concern he showed during the mob scene (the three judges really looked like three guardians of hell, I loved the outfit) - lovely. When Kim Ga-on got struck in the head and he immediately rushed over, having that totally worried look on his face.... perfectThe dinner scene with Sun-ah and Elijah was intense and interesting, even compared to the very sweet dinner scenes we had with Kim Ga-on before. Really well acted. Kang Jo-han was IMO much sweeter and softer to Elijah than before, even when he tried to reassure her that he was fine (he really wasn't). Last but not least - K. He really was killed by Sun-ah.... fuck you. Fuck you, Sun-ah. He didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve that at all. All in all, though, it was okay. We'll see how things will play out now, but the guns are most definitely out. It's time to destroy Sun-ah and the foundation ...and please NO "The Merciless" ending.

They are dropping the ball

This is what I was afraid of. I fear the writers are dropping the ball. Kim Ga-on's character development makes no sense at all and the ending was just bad. My expectations for the show have dropped considerably.

Episode 15 and 16 saved the show

From the reactions I've seen last night, it remains that half of them found the finale rubbish and the other half were pleasantly surprised. I belonged to the second half for the simple reason that at the end of the day the dunce Kim Ga-o realised, damn late but still, that Kang Yo-han was NOT the bad guy. It was nice to see that Yo-han didn't hold grudges and it was obvious from his actions that he still loved Ga-on.After that hyper-dramatic final showdown between Yo-han and Sun-ah (the scene was pretty much the best part of the last episode and only worked because Ji Sun and Kim Min-jung are very good actors), he literally threw Ga-on out of the courtroom so he wouldn't be killed by the explosion. That Yo-han had meticulously planned the whole thing and survived the explosion was not a wild surprise to me. I always remembered Ji Sung comparing Yo-han to Bruce Wayne/Batman and that he also said he loved the Nolan films. In the end, it was similar to the end of "The Dark Knight Returns". Everyone thought Bruce sacrificed himself for the city, but instead, he just retired along with Selina. The scene with Elijah was just good for my little heart. Those two didn't have a very warm relationship in the beginning but the way Elijah hugged Yo-han tightly and how he hugged her back...thank you, show. Yes, and then there was the last scene, which I loved. I saw here that some here e were lamenting that Yo-han and Ga-on must be going their separate ways now. I have no idea how you guys came to THAT conclusion.I thought it was great that no words were spoken and that the two men just looked at each other. Yo-han's soft, longing smile and Ga-on's face (who didn't know whether to cry or laugh) said it all for me.This is NOT the end. This is the beginning. Like a prequel. Yo-han, like Bruce, is now a vigilante. He's going to focus on his family and bringing justice to the city from the shadows, while Ga-on stays with the system and will try to help the city in his way. Ga-on was given the choices on whether he wanted to return to Yo-han, but his expression in the final scene really said it all. If Ga-on is not going to be on Yo-han's doorstep by the end of the same day, I'd be surprised as hell. The show fucked up several times during its run. Especially episodes 13 and 14 were complete shit, no reason to mince words here. Characters that started out interestingly became incredibly annoying and useless (well mainly one particular character that I couldn't watch anymore by the end and that was Soo-hyun) and in the end, there were many, many questions left unanswered. It was kind of clear that the series would have a hard time regaining its footing after two failed episodes, but miracle of miracles, the series DID manage to get over the finish line with a halfway reasonable ending. For the whole show I will go with 8.5 out of 10. It was a solid 10 until episode 12 happened and after 13 and 14 I expected to go all the way down to 1 or 1.5 but the show saved itself
