Case closed

Halmoni is one of the characters that I am least fond of. Right from Episode 1, I already knew she'd be the spoiled elder--the boss of the household and nobody would dare disobey what she says.

This is why it was a surprising development to see her finally give in to Tae Hee and Ja Eun EVEN BEFORE Tae Hee cracked the case.

OB writers tend to play with timing of revelations and confessions and the past episodes--especially those involving Guk Su's discovery, and Hye Ryeong's comeback--were frustrating.

But for once, the timing of Halmoni's acceptance, the case being solved and the two ducks finally reunited all in one episode, makes me one happy watcher.

I'm about to flip a table

Why is this drama prolonging the agony? What is it? Wae?

Now the instant I see Soo Young or Tae Bum, I let out a frustrated sigh knowing I have to go through this ORDEAL. Make up your mind, lady! Didn't you say you wanted to break up? To start over by yourself?

Why care now? Just leave and be your usual selfish self!

Ugh! Why so stupid?

At some point in these middle 30s episodes, Cha Soo Young became unbelievably childish, unprofessional and narrow-minded. I understand that pregnancy can affect emotions but this is too much.

The gall of her talking to Han Hye Ryeong about her morals in a rude manner and openly raising her voice like a petty jealous b*tch is way out of character. You don't do that to a company acquaintance especially when you're trying so hard not to blow your cover even if she was your husband's ex!

What's the use of hiding their relationship anyways? I hope she gets to keep her team leader position but if she loses it, that's bull crap.

Rebellious and irresponsible

Tae Bum, up to now, has been a disappointment. Reckless and irresponsible, he spouts out words of advice that his own self should take: think carefully before deciding.

A one-night stand that was supposed to be fleeting and forgettable has come back on both Team Leader Cha Soo Young and Tae Bum. Funny that the cluttered switch-girl Soo Young could come out calmer and have a more adult-like take on their situation. I wonder how they'll turn out...

I don't know if Ja Eun has reached the peak of her rebellion. Seeing her shutting her friends out is making me mad. She has too much hurt and anger that she doesn't know how to distinguish her true allies from her enemies. And this, again, is a product of Tae Bum's recklessness.

Hell broke lose

Even though the story had a slow start at the first episode, everything started to pick up pace at episode 2. By episode 3, my interest meter shot up and at episode 4, all hell just broke lose.

Ja Eun is so excruciatingly naive that whatever comes out of her mouth becomes obnoxious and cringingly irritating to the ear.

Personalities clash as the Hwang family meets Baek Ja Eun, now heiress to the Ojakgyo farm they have tended for a decade.

And just when she thought she'd hit the jackpot, she tries to sell it off, unwittingly exposing the lie that the Hwang family had kept for all those 10 years.

Side-stories and romances are intertwined nicely while keeping the main story intact. Loving this early stage. Let the tangles begin!

Best episode yet

It's finally Akira's turn to open up. I expected to have a happy ending for this episode--well it did, however I was half-sad the story took on a different take on Akira's reconciliation with his past.

I hate it when older people crush a kid's hopeful spirit. But then 'being able to cry or laugh like that with someone has nothing do with blood-relations.'

Family does not mean you have to be blood-related.

I love it but I feel a heartache coming on

Totally liked how Gak-Ha bonded in this episode: from the fish IN the water allusion at the grocery store, the CPR 'kiss,' her make-over for her date, and the car driving lesson. The horse-back riding scene was the best shot, Yoochun and Han Ji Min created a very romantic atmosphere.

And Lee Gak asking for another 'CPR' was the naughtiest thing I've seen him do--hilarious to boot.

The trio keeps guard over their noona and I think Yong Sul has a puppy crush on Bak Ha lol how cute! (But I still want those discoveries for them.)

Company scenes further make their way in the story . Halmoni likes Hong-biseo for her grandson, right timing for Se Na since Tae Mu and she are on the rocks right now.

Why oh why out of all the characters does the writer choose to give the postcard clue to Se Na?! And why the slap, Halmoni? Overreacting much?

Deliciously horrific. Meow!

It's just Episode one and yet it's part-horror and part-romantic comedy done right. Could this very well be the redemption of the Hong sisters from the mess that they made in Big?

Just a fourth into this episode and I already screamed thrice (Hah! Scaredy-cat!). Gong Hyo Jin's Tae Gong Sil will make you scream with her while she runs away from the ghosts and laugh at her while she interacts with Kingdom Sajangnim Joo Joong Won. Meow! ^_^

Borrowing from the Little Mermaid

Right now, I'm already past the point of disappointment and just trying to figure out how they are going to untangle things until the end.

Gong Shil feels like the Little Mermaid making a shady deal with a thinner (although scarier) version of Ursula, and we don't even know if the deal is another red herring or something to really worry about.

Han na (or is it Hee Joo?) is making her move towards Joong Won with the her own sun amulet and she's taking advantage of Joong Won's kumo who doesn't know she's the evil twin/mermaid impostor. Why Sec Kim is not doing a background check on her, I don't know. He would have known who she is and then he wouldn't have to go to Britain.

And the dead Hee Joo wanting Gong Shil to lend her her body? What is she trying to do?

Kids and guns--they don't mix.

Episode 5 brings down the harsh reality of life. When kids don't learn how to vent their anger properly, they're sure to pick up bad ways how to express them.

A teacher's work, what is it exactly? It's to be a mentor even outside the confines of the educational institution.

I can't say I disagree with Onizuka's advice to Dojima but this certainly is in contrast to the way dramas forgive characters that have done wrong. Let's see how it works out in the end.

Note: Miyabi is now showing her true colors to both Fuyutsuki and Onizuka. It's hard to believe anyone this young could be so b*tchy and scheming.

If the trip to see Makgeum ever paid off, it was the knowledge that she was the fruit of a great but tragic love between a traitor's daughter and the Emperor who neglected that love.

But then that knowledge seems useless now, not when she thought that she and her love are actually related. And sadly, Solhi used this to Solnan's disadvantage so she can keep a hold of her fake position.

I can't understand why Solnan would fold to that. Whether or not she tells the king, if they really were related, they couldn't keep their relationship anyway. I'm already anticipating how they'd react when they find out their 'true' relationship.

The fake is saved and lives another day

While another man is sacrificed to conceal the real culprit, Solnan now starts to wonder why her dear sister needs to lie about her background.

And while everything else calms down at the palace front, Jinmu-gung doesn't that he's befriending the man whom he gravely wronged. I certainly never saw that coming!

The inevitable meeting of stepsisters

I can't imagine what Solnan would feel now that she's about to confirm that her long lost sister is practically the famed Su Baek Hyang, Princess of Baekje.

If I were her, I'd sooner start thinking why the Princess would evade meeting her every time--this, after the fact that they saw a clear good look at each other's faces at the Queen's banquet.

There's no mistaking the recognition that registered on Solhi's face at the sight of her older sister and if Solnan is really smart, she would have caught that.

Orenmanida, big guy

Thank goodness I got to see more romance developing here than the darker, sloppy plot brewing at the witch's chambers.

From around a dark street bend, a lone tall man walks determinedly, oblivious to a group of thugs following him. They grab his rugsack only to find the content wasn't worth the snatch: a pair of red embroidered shoes.

The grand spectacle at court

I already saw it coming. After being set up to 'accidentally' meet the Emperor in the garden, Pan Yu, the dead ringer of the Emperor's beloved concubine Mei, is now forced to bend to an imperial decree coercing her to become a royal concubine, the Yi Fei no less.

While the Emperor and his concubines play marionettes from behind, his three sons and Pan Yu sway to their pull.

At court, a grand spectacle is displayed: all three sons pleading that the king take his decree back, each confessing their devotion for the lady (I swear she has such long hair -_-). But Pan Yu is already caught between the Emperor's blackmail and Han Zhao Yi's scheming and one wrong move can harm her mother or her beloved.

Meng Qi You, how are you going to solve this one?
