only stayed for byeon wooseok
gonna be honest, i did not feed into the hype that this kdrama had. just from the clips i saw online, it didn’t look all that interesting to me. just your run of the mill cheesy drama. and i was right.it was funny for sure and if not for byeon wooseok i never wouldve watched this. my main issue is with im sol’s character. she lacks depth and personality throughout the whole series, which is a fault many many kdramas are guilty of. they dedicate so much character development and realness to the male lead that the female lead is always overshadowed and unliked. her character was unnecessarily clueless, slow and overall, just stupid. literally in any scenario this girl was in, she chose to make the stupidest decision that negatively affects the people around her. made no sense and just left me resenting her character. also this immature/childish “personality” that theyre always giving to the female lead- get over it already. this 30 year old woman jumping around like a preschooler? really?

worst drama i've ever watched
i'll start w the good things first.i really enjoyed the other couples, bitna & gyuhyun, sol & jiwan, minyoung and gyeongjun. their stories were definitely more lighthearted and fun to watch. its what kept me watching at least
now the main reason i rly dislike this drama is the main couple's dynamic. first they like each other. then jae eon is seen w some other girl. na bi gets upset. then they like each other again. she sees jae eon w another girl. repeats maybe another 5 times. like theres no security in their relationship. does jae eon like her or not. does she like him or not.
then do hyeok comes in and he's the boy next door!! hes so sweet, he takes care of na bi. he's everything you could want. but na bi wants jae eon even tho she doesn't know if he even wants her back. and it's so frustrating because she has this great guy who is head over heels for her and all she can see is the guy she calls a jerk. its quite obvious jae eon and na bi are in love w each other, or at least close. writing this is making me tense LOL
basically my main issue is with jae eon. how is he supposed to ask na bi to trust him and want to be with him when he is always being seen with other women and not bothering to explain to na bi when she asks? like if you want her too then shouldn't you tell her the girl she saw you with isn't your girlfriend?? but instead you let her believe that WAS your girlfriend??? like he keeps playing with her heart and its so annoying i want to punch him
na bi has issues too. she does some occasional narration for example she'll say "i won't let him do this to me again" or "i wont be making the same mistake this time" or something like that and then she LETS HIM KISS HER!??!?!? like at this point I WAS ROOTING FOR THEIR DOWNFALL!1!!1 I DIDNT WANT THEM TO GET TOGETHER THEY WERE BETTER OFF SEPARATE LIKE I AM SO MAD. STOP SAYING YOU HATE HIM AND YOU NEVER WANT TO SEE HIM AGAIN AND THEN MAKE OUT WITH HIM!@!L432; my GODDDD

i love this show sm
everything from the acting, soundtrack, production was perfect. the emotions i felt watching this, crying multiple times each episode is what made this drama stand out to me. what seems like a normal coming of age show is actually a rollercoaster of feelings, filled with lighthearted romance, comedy and heartache.i really enjoyed this show; the friendships and family hardships were so wonderfully depicted. i know nothing about fencing and yet i found myself so immersed. whether the characters were competing or just hanging out with their friends, every scene was meaningful beyond words.
however, the ending (last 2 episodes ish) really broke my heart. i still cherish this drama but i wish it couldve ended well. or at least better. the show made the main couple out to be ill fated, or right person wrong time. it was disappointing to see 2 characters who seemed more than perfect together have to be pulled apart. they were more than lovers, more than friends. their connection ran deeper than labels and they deserved a happy ending with each other. but this show invalidated whatever bond they had at the end. it didnt ruin the show; its still amazing if i disregard the ending and just focus on the times they had as young people. this is just one of those shows where its because they loved each other so much they had to let each other go, i guess. if the point was that they found happiness, just not with each other then yes this drama showed that really well even if it was painful and bittersweet as a viewer to watch. ahhh i really wanted them to end up together but it is what it is lol still one of the best dramas i've ever seen tho

this was amazingly bad
i cannot believe how horrible this was.there is no plot. at least not a very good one. it's full of holes and nothing really makes sense, like they meet briefly for 10 seconds and then the main dude is obsessed with him and goes out of his way to become friends with him..? and then they fall asleep together and then they break up and then they kiss/?? LMFAOO????? like this was actually so bad i can't believe i watched the whole thing. there was no development or anything you would expect in a romance film it felt like it was written by a 10 year old on wattpad with bad grammar and poor punctuation

not bad to say the least
i was definitely hesitant to start this drama as most of the top reviews haven't said too many good things about the actual plot.of course the acting was fantastic — from all the characters. i loved the diversity and the social issues that were brought up. however it felt like they were brought up just for the sake of it; hyunyi's gender identity was explored for maybe 1 episode max and the racism against toni was only like 20 minutes long. i wanted to see more of that but it was over as soon as it started basically.
the storyline itself is good; it definitely had a lot more potential but it went downhill fast. i enjoyed the sunshiny vibes in the beginning (other than the car accident of course) and watching saeroyi work to make his dream come true was fun. i really liked seeing him achieve his goals with his friends. then it got really intense with illegal activity like kidnapping and attempted murder. felt like the show lost sight of what it was about because why are gangs suddenly involved?
it was a good drama nonetheless and it made me shed tears but definitely had a lot of wasted potential.

my first 10/10 drama on here
its amazing how this show is able to connect all the events of the crime and string it all into 1 cohesive plot. ill never forget the satisfying moment in the episode where everything finally clicked together and i was finally able to make sense of it all.there are so many great character personalities and relationships which i think is what makes this show so great and so angsty. i think its perfect how this show's underlying theme is love and how you'll do anything for the people you love.
so many incredible aspects of this drama; the actings one of a kind, lee joongi, the storyline.. its all breathtaking and it made me sad when it ended. truly i've never seen a drama like this with such 5 star qualities.

i love it so much
this was the first kdrama ive ever watched after my friend basically gave me the gist of it to get me to see it. i finished it in one night after sobbing my eyes out at 4am. the actings perfect, lee do hyun delivered his cheeky adorable character so well, the best friends and the parents also.all the emotions i felt during this are unlike any drama ive seen thus far. constantly had me on the edge of my seat. such an underrated show, would give this 394728 stars if i could. i really enjoyed it, and i enjoyed having my heart ripped out by it.

everything “what’s wrong with secretary kim” failed to do
essentially it’s very similar to “what’s wrong with secretary kim” from the goofy yet insightful subordinate/friend to the narcissistic male lead.however, “secretary kim” was below decent and lacked in almost every category. king the land is excelling at what secretary kim failed to achieve. the light hearted comedy is actually funny, there aren’t any cringe moments, the romance seems pretty genuine. i can feel an actual connection between characters.
compared to “secretary kim”, or even “business proposal”, the acting is excellent. there aren’t any exaggerated expressions or forced comedy. everything felt relatively natural and genuine to me. the banter was really cute and witty and the characters were smart. there are many tropes in this drama that have been overdone (ie. arcade game trope, stranded, accidentally meets her family etc) but both yoona and junho play their roles so well, it doesn’t feel repetitive.
prior to meeting the love interest in the show, sarang already is dating someone which is something we don’t really see in kdramas. in my opinion she was written really well and fleshed out like a real woman would be. she was hard to win over and she had principles and didn’t drop everything to be with a man, which i admired. her number one priority was always work and it was very evident that nothing could get in the way of that.
junhos character, won is our classic narcissistic ceo. he’s entitled and a douchebag but throughout the show we see him gradually show more kindness and warmth. we see how devoted he is to sarang and how she is his number one priority. even though we’ve seen this character plenty of times, something about gu won is done in a refreshing way.
soundtrack!! soundtrack was perfect. the first time i heard each song i had to download it. came in at the perfect times and was fitting to each scenario.
loved the side characters as well. the best friends and the coworkers i all thorough enjoyed and added to the story and their relationship. the only character that confused me was won’s dad. his motives throughout the show are a little hypocritical at times and i didn’t understand whose side he was on, but i didn’t dislike him. yay!!! this was a great show for me i loved it

one of the better dramas ive seen so far
after reading some of the reviews on here just now, i have to disagree with some of them. yes, there were some moments that didnt make sense and were so ridiculous but honestly i didnt mindi rly enjoyed the balance of lighthearted comedy to the intense fight scenes. i didnt expect to be so attached to any of the characters either but i think it was so nice how everyone in the plaza was included in the plans.
i especially enjoyed kwak dongyeons acting and character in this. hes just a clueless puppet acting on behalf of his brother who is the “real” chairman of the company but at one point its like hes grown an awareness and was able to think beyond what his brother told him. i liked how he was able to think for himself and i rly liked his little brother personality with song joongkis character vincenzo. like i REALLY liked it they were so cute and endearing
idk the actress’ name but the one who played choi myeonghee TRULY delivered. i would be so angry every time she was on screen because her character deeply pissed me off. just the mannerisms, the attitude.. everything was just done so well in terms of acting.
the relationships in this show i think are unmatched. like they call themselves a family. OH and also i rly like when “bad guys” join the good guys and they all become to like them. thats what happened here !! the bad guys had a change of heart and it was so pleasant to see. idk what else to say bye i like this show a lot

if you haven't watched this yet do it right now
going into this show i did not realize how heartbreaking and gutwrenching it would be. one of the scenes literally made a sob come out my mouth like it genuinely wrecked me how emotional it was. some scenes had me sick to my stomach and made my heart feel empty. everything was so well done about this i can't put into words how much this moved mecharacters were expertly done, acting was sublime and the story was just incredible. this is one of those shows where i will be thinking about even months after watching
the greatest thing about this masterpiece are the characters and the relationships they have with one another. you even feel bad for the "bad guys" at some points. when i watch a show, i have to be attached to the characters, otherwise what's the point? if i'm not feeling their pain and if i'm not gripping the edge of my seat, then it's a waste of time. thankfully this show had everything. it made me cry, it made me slap my hand over my mouth and it made me feel joy.
it's a very grim yet humanizing perspective on how we as people would operate if left to our own devices. it leaves you thinking about the society we live in and how love may be the reason you keep fighting to survive. i finished both seasons of this show in a little over a day — that's how immersed i was — and i'm so glad i finally decided to watch this after it sitting in my watch list for the last 2 years T-T

your classic ceo x employee office romance
i went into this show because of park seojun and i have to say, from the first episode i did not have high hopes. the acting was trashy (thats the best word i can come up with) and at times a little cringe. it did not feel genuine at all and the characters seemed very surface level. there are typical kdrama characters like the narcissistic ceo who has no concept of being poor, his employee who lives in a one bedroom apartment with no savings, a nosy coworker, etc. very predictable overall.this drama had many tropes: boss x employee, love triangle, enemies to lovers, the childhood friend soulmate trope... just a lot of things going on with no real plotline. i understand that they gave the main characters a very dark trauma from their past that acts as the "mystery" in this show but that's all it was to me—some random traumatizing past that they had to live with so they don't seem like they have a normal life (psst kdrama directors: theres nothing wrong with characters who have had a normal past btw... especially if the horrible past is smt so random that makes no sense)
i didn't like how the characters were always thinking out loud (it's like a kdrama ick of mine) or how this seemed like it was based off a poorly written wattpad story that you know exactly how it's going to end. the last few episodes i watched in 2x speed because they had already gotten together, the mystery was resolved... what else is there? there were enjoyable scenes; i shed some tears so it was not a complete waste of time.

could have been better
w failed to deliver many things and the main thing for me were the characters. none of the characters seem fleshed out, and their relationships felt surface-deep. cheol and yeonjoo didn't seem like they had any real connection, like i didn't feel any chemistry at all. their relationship did not seem developed at all.another thing was the nonsense of it all. bad things were constantly happening and our main leads never got to take a break. i wish there was at least a moment where they could have enjoyed being together and got to know each other more, but it's villain after villain. some of it didn't make sense to me and things could have been better explained. the ending was kind of mid, i didn't even realize it was the last episode until there was no more.
performance wise the acting was cringe to me sometimes. it was so "kdramalike" the way their eyes move and the way they'd smile at nothing, or thinking out loud.
all in all i think the first episode set the tone for the rest of the show. didn't expect much and i was right

fantastic
one of the most captivating films i've seen in a while.park seojoon and kang haneul's chemistry is incredible and rly portrayed a wholesome sense of brotherhood. there weren't any scenes with other candidates/people outside the academy which is fine tbh. i wouldve liked to see them eat steak at heeyeols fathers market tho loll that wouldve been fun
the movie started off pure and lighthearted and got dark and serious rly fast but i don't have anything wrong with that. it was a good blend of comedy and action and who doesn't love a good old training montage. their characters were passionate and hardworking and insanely driven. plot was simple and easy to follow, brought me to tears and would definitely rewatch

not what i was expecting...
i had high expectations for this drama considering that iu and lee joongi are the main actors. at first the storyline was easy to follow and simple until they introduced like 34 new characters and subplots.i loved the acting from all the princes and side characters. however baekhyun and iu's acting wasn't that great to me. there were times where i felt the acting was definitely forced and awkward. sometimes even the character who played 8th prince wook. other than that. they did a good job for the most part.
my one thing with this show is the explanations especially lack thereof. it's never explicitly stated that princess yeonhwa essentially had a crush on her half brother (although now i know interfamilial marriages were common in that period). its never explicitly stated who mu, won, baek ha and eun's mothers were. in my mind i was trying to make sense of the family tree and how they were all related but i guess thats not important in the long run. maybe i missed it but who were those people that were tied to the posts? baek ha and woo hee run into some dead people in public and shes' like crying and then the next day she committed suicide....... why did she do that lol
also its never stated that jung's child at the end was actually so's (i had to search it to find out). if they were trying to fool the watchers then it worked because a little part of me hoped the child was jungs lol
there is one part where king so declares some servants or something to be killed. it was kinda random, he lost his temper and idek if those people ended up dying. and also theres that astronomer guy ji mong. how is he able to travel between time like that... ok i wont go on with the things that didn't make sense to me. i had seen the reviews before i started this show and i definitely thought this show would blow me away. needless to say, it didn't. i felt like it was badly written and none of the characters really developed. did appreciate iu and lee joongis chemistry tho lolz
