Physical Abuse during the scene: 30:00 - 32:00 where Zhou Heng's father uses physical punishment on his son. There is also a scene where You Yi's rich friends make fun of her behind her back: 12:15 - 13:30.

There's an interesting scene that sets up the motivations of the players before the final round of the grading tournament. One is a shot of Shen Yi Lang's bracelet, given to him by Bai Xiao Xiao, representing their relationship. The next is of the scarf given to Hong He by Lin Can, representing (his crush but also) his new mentorship. The last is a conversation between Shi Guang and Yu zhi, but they're talking about how their motivations for doing well in the tournament are Yu Liang. From this set up, it's really hard to not think about the relationship between Shi Guang and Yu Liang. Since the other two motivations are romantic, are they saying that this one is too? They have so much respect for each other now, it really makes me wonder if it's bromance or not.

This is the episode with long yan. in this adaptation, long yan is too old to enter the grading tournament, which is so sad! this plot point is different in the original manga.

Shi guang still isn't good enough to compete with yu liang, but he may be good enough to pass the grading tournament. Yu Liang learned to play billiards now with his mentor XD

This episode sets up a love triangle in the go club, but there's also a lot chemistry between Yu Liang and Yi Guang. I know this isn't a bl, but they have a real "will they won't they" going on in this series... I can't decide if it's intentionally baiting me or if it's just my imagination?

This drama doesn't have the typical structure of a cdrama, there is no ending after the first season. we'll have to wait until the 2nd season if it airs. my guess is that they had to make a sudden switch for one of the main leads, and decided to air only half the original first season. or it could just be bad directing lol! The ending feels rushed, so I'd suggest waiting to watch until after the second season comes out.

cw: this episode has cicadas, both in larvae and grown forms. The solution to the mysterious deaths is intriguing, and it was a cool touch to have the ml get sick as well.

In our first episode we meet the MC TangSan, and his father TangHao. They live on the outskirts of a remote village as blacksmiths. TangSan practices hidden martial arts skills taught to him by his father. On his way into town to deliver some iron tools, he faces off against a Man Faced Demon Spider and blinds one of it's eyes. Before almost getting a fatal blow by the spider, he gets saved by SuYunTao, an officer from spirit hall. SuYunTao awakens TangSan's spirit, though he actually has two spirits, Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer. He also has Innate Full Spirit Power. He's invited to go to an academy to train to become a spirit master. Before he leaves, his father makes him swear to never to show his Clear Sky Hammer, never tell anyone about his hidden skills, and to never join spirit hall. TangSan then sets off with the village chief to start his adventure.
Both TangSan and the audience don't know at this point who TangSan's mother is, only that he did not grow up with her around. We also don't know who/what Spirit Hall is, only that his father has a bad relationship with them.

TLDR: Shrek wins the first round of the competition, and TangSan learns a bit more of his father's past.The episode starts with Shrek academy still in the Tournament. NingRongRong wins against the second opponent and returns. ZhuZhuQing takes out the third and fourth person of the 2nd royal team, but gets knocked off stage by the final fighter. TangSan arrives on stage just in time and defeats this fighter in less than a minute, using a succession of his blue grass control spirit abilities. MaHongJun and DaiMuBai also complete their spirit ring absorption and get to the tournament right after the battle ends. Shrek won their first round of the tournament which gets them closer to the finals! The older Prince XueXing sends the leader of the Tai family to kill TangSan, but it turns out that the Tai family used to serve the Tang family, so everyone's friends again lol. We're a little closer to finding out what the relationship is between spirit hall and TangSan, why did spirit hall try to kill TangHao (TangSan's father) ?

There are spiders in this episode.Shrek's first opponent in the tournament is the 2nd team of the TianDou royal academy (they're being targeted by the older prince XueXing). All 7 students and 3 teachers of Shrek go to Sunset forest to advance to 4 spirit rings. While in sunset forest, TangSan and XiaoWu go (on a double date lol) with grandmaster and LiuErLong looking for spirit beasts to level up, while the other students go with headmaster LanDe. TangSan absorbs the spirit ring of the Pit Demon Spider, and has to use the yin yang well given to him by his mother to fully absorb it. All of the Shrek Seven Devils get to their 4th spirit ring just before the competition. MaHongJun, DaiMuBai and TangSan are still absorbing their spirit rings when its time for the tournament to start. The tournament 1 on 1 battle begins and OuSiKe wins the first round using his props and flying ablilties. Outside powers are starting to take notice of Shrek academy's unique fighting skills.

Zhou Fei and Wu Chuchu are stuck inside the city after the inn their party was staying in burned down. Shen Tianshu and Qiu Tianjin (the bad guys sofar lol) have closed the gates of the city and are searching for Wu Chuchu. Zhou Fei and Wu Chuchu are hiding in the Magistrate's harem courtyard, waiting for a chance to escape.
We meet Chen Zichen (third prince) for the first time in this episode, and learn that Xie Yun is the godson of the emporor. Xie Yun is staying with Chen Zichen and does not know if Zhou Fei is alive.

This episode was so fun to watch, we got good dialogue and a fight scene with the main villain! The ending scene was a bit too sweet for me, but compared with how somber the last arc ended, I'm glad the writing is more lighthearted while in the sanskrit valley.
