You’ll either love or hate it depending on whose side you’re on

I was on Sunoh’s side so I absolutely hated it. Season 1 made me angry but I really hoped season 2 would make it all better...It didn’t. What a complete disappointment. Out of all the dramas I’ve watched, I’ve only hated a few characters and Kim JoJo is neck and neck with “average” Oh Hae Young for the number two spot, just under the MIL in Something in the Rain.

First of all, the entire premise of the show is just dumb. I knew this season 1 but I kept high hopes until the end because I loved the chemistry between JJ and Sunoh. Why does Kim JoJo need an app to tell her how she feels? And why is Hye-young so stupid and have such low self esteem to accept the fact that his girlfriend doesn’t have genuine feelings for him? Who does that?! Regardless of the fact that they ended up together (which was the trajectory, clearly shown from the beginning of the season), I still don’t believe Kim JoJo actually wanted to be with Hye-young. She just made herself like him for whatever reason.

Hye-young vs Sunoh

I am NOT a fan of HY. He’s the typical guy who has a secret crush on a girl but too afraid to speak up. Along comes his ‘friend’, Sunoh, the new, cool guy that everyone likes. He sets his sights on the girl HY already mentally claimed as his and immediately goes after her, as he should have. HY proceeded to feel some type of way because his friend seemed to have won “his girl” and eventually gets the courage to confess his feelings. Eye f’ing ROLL! He should’ve left well enough alone and moved the hell on but no. He decided to be persistent and “nice guy” his way into JoJo’s heart. I’ve never rooted against a second male lead so hard. Which brings me to my next point. I did not like how writers made the second male lead the first in the second season. It did not work and I don’t ever want to see it again unless the 2ML is like Baek In Ho from Cheese in the Trap.

Yuk Jo
I liked her character, especially when she broke up with Sunoh because she knew he wasn’t that into her. She did what Hye-young should have done. But then she tried to get him back. Wth? Sunoh only went back because he had lost JoJo and the audience is supposed to be ok with that?! Yuk Jo is a rebound who deserves better.

Duk go
Ugh. Hated him the first season and hate him still. Glad he got a much better haircut though.

Overall, I did not enjoy this drama at all. My blood was boiling from beginning to end.
Sunoh did not deserve the outcome he got. He was hurt and I felt that. Nothing was explained well or resolved properly and Kim Jojo is a liar. She is a major AH for what she did to him and that is unforgivable.

Trash.

My only regret…

….………………,………..………………………………………………………,………..……………………………………………………….……………………………………..….…… is that I didn’t wait until this drama was fully released before watching. It’s such a light-hearted and refreshing story with an awesome cast but the cliff-hangers are driving me nuts! I love this drama and all the butterflies it gives me! I’m already grieving the end.

Loved it all the way until the last episode

I loved everything about this drama. Some of the music was a little comical but it grew on me. I’m not a huge fan of JCW or KJW but this the the best JCW drama I’ve watched so far and definitely the only one where I actually kind of like KJW’s character. I couldn’t stand her in everything else I’ve watched her in. This drama had me all in my feelings and was pretty strong until the end. The last episode was a big wtf. I feel like it was rushed and I was left hanging. Would’ve loved to see some development of Dong-sik’s story. I feel so cheated. Maybe we’ll get a season two. Who knows?

The kiss scenes are awful

This drama is not romance focused like the title suggests but after a few episodes, I was ok with the three leads being just friends. The few romance scenes between the leads were SUPER awkward; their kisses are the worst I’ve ever seen, and the FL always looks uncomfortable. I cringed the entire time. By the end, I was so content with Jun doing her own thing that I was pretty upset when I realized how the story was coming to a close. However, when I saw Byun Hyuk’s adorable face, all of that frustration faded away. His character was so annoying yet so adorable.
Overall, without the romance (with exception to Byun Hyuk’s cute internal monologues), this drama was pretty decent.

If you must watch, stop after episode 15 and then make up your own ending

Like, what the heck? This was actually a pretty good drama but by episode 14 when Kang Kyung Joon and Seo Yoon Jae had not yet switched back that the ending was going to be trash. There just wasn’t enough time left to wrap it up. I felt bad for everyone involved the entire show, especially SYJ because we never got to find out how he really felt about Gil Da Ran. I never got the closure I needed from the drama. SYJ’s character was just tossed to the side as if he was a non-factor. If I could, I would unwatch episode 16 and just imagine a better ending in which both KKJ and SYJ returned to their respective bodies and life went on. KKJ and GDR would not have looked good together and gave Mary Kay Letourneau vibes. Also, fact that KKJ and SYJ are brothers is even more messed up but there was just no good way to end this drama. Idk. Ugh.

‘Twas a bit dry for me

I knew it was going to be a struggle getting through this drama when I fell asleep on the last 20 minutes of the first episode. Basically, all of the points I give this drama are for the action. It’s a solid action drama but the storyline and FL are DRY! Most boring FL ever! By the end of episode 13, Anna was on my nerves and I was over whatever Ms. Choi’s issues were. The remaining episodes felt like the longest 3 hours of my life! Took me way too long to get through this drama but I couldn’t let this be the first one I dropped. I’m very disappointed that I didn’t care for this drama because it seemed to be a crowd favorite. Bummer.

Worst drama I’ve watched to date. Should have been called Wok of Jajangmyeon

I could tell this drama was going to be trash in episode 2. At the start of this review, I’m 12 episodes deep and nothing has changed. The story is all over the place and much of it doesn’t make sense. It seems like the writers tried way too hard to make some scenes comical that they ended up just plain corny. So far, the love story is wack and judging from the reviews, I don’t foresee it getting any better. The leads are being forced together but they have zero chemistry. Poong is an asshole and he needs some emotional healing before even considering another relationship. In the beginning, it seemed the writers favored Chil Sung but decided to suddenly switch gears to favor Poong. Chil Sung and Sae Woo have much better chemistry than her and Poong. The drama is trash and it’s going to be quite a struggle to make it though. It would be much better without the romance aspect.

Soooo, I FINALLY made it through to the end and thank goodness it’s over! The storyline did get a little more interesting, so I increased my rating from 2.5 to 3.5. I’m still sticking to my opinion that it would have been way better w/o the main leads’ romance. The side characters are so strong that the leads aren’t even necessary. If this drama were about Chil Sung and all of the supporting characters, I’d give this drama a solid 7 or 8. Anyway, still the least satisfying drama I’ve ever watched and Love Alarm 2 was pretty terrible, for comparison. Just glad it’s over and now I can move on.

Started off with great potential

MLSS started off very good, so good that I binged about 8 or 9 episodes. After that, everything went to shit.

In the beginning, I really liked Sam Soon. She was funny, seemed to have some semblance of self-respect, and was adamantly anti-cheaters. So, I rooted for her to have the experience of being in a healthy relationship. Boy, was I in for a huge disappointment.

Hun was toxic from the beginning but I had hoped he would get himself together. Firstly, the man was totally emotionally unavailable. Secondly, he was abusive. I’m sorry but a man who punches a wall near my face and breaks ish will have me running the other way. Not only was he physically aggressive, he was also emotionally abusive.
I usually enjoy the fake dating/marriage trope but it was a mess in this drama. Hun was too controlling for my taste and his character is a typical abuser. Rules applied to SS but not to him. He didn’t like her and wanted to be with his ex but didn’t want SS to speak to other men. I’m sorry, but it’s a no for me. He also cheated on Hee Jin WITH Sam Soon and Sam Soon lacked all self respect and confidence to walk away because she is “old”. In fact, she tells Hee Jin to go away because this is her last chance at love. Girl, bye! All of the building blocks for a toxic relationship were right there, slapping Sam Soon in the face but she still fell for him. Her character development went in reverse and I hated that. The last 5 or 6 episodes just showcased more relationship toxicity and character regression. I am convinced that Hun still wants to be and SHOULD be with Hee Jin; they are perfect for each other. This man continued to put his relationship with Sam Soon on the line for Hee Jin because he knew she would forgive him. If that’s not emotional manipulation, I don’t know what is. IMO, Sam Soon needed some time to heal from her last toxic relationship and work on building her self esteem. Low self-worth and emotional manipulation did quite a number on her and I could not stand her character by ep 12. I’m not even going to get started on her wanting to change her name. That side story got on my nerves. Maybe I’m too old to find the “beauty” in this story because I just did not find it cute at all. I was actually quite disgusted.

Great drama but 2nd leads excessive screen time is overwhelmingly annoying

Very good drama and Ji Sung is absolutely amazing but the second leads really got on my nerves. By the middle of episode 14, I was ready for someone to whack both, Se Yeon and Do Hoon. They were given way too much screen time. It seemed just about equal to the leads which caused me to feel some turbulent emotions. Lots of positive feelings during Min Hyeok and Yoo Jeong’s scenes and then boom, here come the second leads and their terribleness that immediately killed the mood. This up and down happened way too frequently. If not for this, I would’ve rated this drama a 10/10. Also, Min Hyeok’s father’s hair and makeup were terrible and distracting. I couldn’t take him seriously while looking like a Madame Tussaud wax figure. Other than that, I really enjoyed this drama. Ji Sung and Hwan Jung Eum pair up very well. Glad I gave this one a shot.

An utter masterpiece!

I was completely blown away with this drama. Shin Se Gi, Ahn Yo Sub, Ahn Yo Na, Perry Park, Na Na, Mr. X and Cha Do Hyun; Ji Sung really outdid himself with his portrayals of each. Every time he snot cried (and it was a lot), I felt that. Had me feeling like they were all different people. I got emotionally attached to each personality and sympathized with them. I completed this drama about a week ago and I still get choked up just thinking about how well this drama was done. The FL was a little strange but I still loved her and I really felt for Park Seo Joon’s Oh Ri On, even thought it was a little weird. Everyone in this drama did a superb job. Easily in my top 5 list of best dramas. Bravo! Now I need to go watch every Ji Sung drama in existence.

Good drama but not re-watchable

I added this drama to my watch list because of all of the high reviews. Initially, I didn’t want to watch because the title and trailer just seemed boring to me. However, I’m happy that I took a chance but this is not a drama that I’d consider re-watchable. It was good while it lasted but I’m glad it’s over.

1. This drama seemed to be heartwarming and sweet, especially because of the super innocent and doting ML. I loved how he knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to let FL know how he felt.

2. I didn’t mind the abandoned child turned single mother storyline but the way the community treated FL like a pariah who should be banished to hell, especially by ML’s mother who was a widow with 2 young children and a newborn, got on my nerves. ML’s mother was best friends with FL until she found out her son, whom she raised to be a warm and loving person, was warm and loving on the “wrong” person.

3. I felt bad for Jeong-ryeol because after 8 years, he finds out he has a son but his mother wants to keep them apart. Excuse me?!

4. I liked that Dongbaek’s mother came back and after hearing what she wrote when she thought she was going to die, I felt really bad for her. But I do not understand why she pretended to have dementia. That was very strange and did not fit into the storyline well at all.

5. I liked Pil-gu but did not like how FL just let him control everything about her life. Dongbaek is the adult and Pil-gu is the child. I don’t know why she just could not explain to him that she is not abandoning him by being with ML. She chose to look sheepish and give up on her own happiness to appease her 8 year old. I’m glad ML’s mother came to her own senses and knocked some sense into Dongbaek.

6. Overall, the drama was pretty good but FL’s “woe is me” attitude got on my nerves and ML’s puppy energy became a bit too much for me.

#TeamTaejin

I’m not even finished watching this drama but I feel the need to review. To date, I have just begun ep 12 and am way too emotionally invested in the characters and storyline. Firstly, I absolutely love this drama. At this point, if I see “Studio Dragon” in the opening credits, I know I’m in for a great experience. I have not been disappointed with anything that’s come out of there yet. Secondly, I am Team Taejin all the way. Don’t get me wrong; I like Do-Kyeong but not nearly as much as Taejin. What Do-kyeong did was already foul but once he found out the truth and didn’t tell “ordinary” Oh Hae Young, it became unforgivable. Taejin’s breakdown rage scene in his car was me by the end of ep 11. This drama has my blood pressure UP! I am so over Ordinary Hae Young’s absolute dehydration for attention and expectations of very specific responses from Do-keyong. She’s the kind of person who plays scenarios in her mind and if real life doesn’t go as she planned, she gets mad. I can’t with her. Thirdly, I am not feeling “Pretty” Oh Hae Young or her fan club. Good Lord! Her fan club is so extra. Pretty OHY just needs to let it go! The entire ending of Pretty OHY and Do-kyeong’s relationship is completely messy and both of them are dead wrong with how they handled it. Dead wrong. Both of them. Equally. I said what I said. Lastly, like most dramas, I can predict how this one will end but I just wish it to be otherwise. Time to get back to the show. #TeamTaejin

**Post completion edit: **
The leads:
‘Twas a struggle making it to the end of this drama because by episode 14, I was completely over Ordinary Hae Young’s childish and whiny personality. Every 5 minutes, she’s crying over something stupid and her inferiority complex makes her insufferable. Instead of a 32 year old woman, she acts like a 14 year old girl who has her first boyfriend. It’s not cute. I also feel like the marriage business was rushed. Hae Young is way too mentally immature to marry anyone. It got to the point where, the more I hated Hae Young, the more I liked Do-kyeong. Every time I saw her, I scowled, and every time I saw him, I smiled. I hated Hae Young almost as much as the MIL in Something in the Rain.

The others:
I really liked Soo-kyeong and Jin-sang’s relationship until it became rushed after “the night”. It was way too inorganic for my liking. Overall, still a great drama but the last 7 episodes were rough for me.

Gripping and Bingeable show but doesn’t need a second season

Like the headline says, Squid Game is pretty gripping and held my attention very well. It was a nice change to the 16 hour long episode dramas that I’m used to watching and I will highly recommend to kdrama vets and newbies. However, after watching, I’m ready to get back what I know. As usual, the Korean actors were amazing but the Americans really messed it up for me. As an American, I cringed every time they were in a scene. This drama was obviously created to appeal to Western audiences because there were a lot of things going on that other kdramas wouldn’t dare touch. I get wanting to appeal to larger audiences but ugh, the Americans really irked me. They were so stereotypical “rich white American guys” who “American-ed” around to get their way. Maybe their roles were to be the comic relief from so much gore but they were all just super corny and cringey and their acting was a bit rough. Anywho, overall, the drama was entertaining but the end kind of alludes to another season that I hope does not happen. First season was good, let’s not ruin it with another and even more bad American actors.

I love it

But there are just way too many idiots and selfish characters in this drama. My goodness. The FL has zero impulse control, which makes me wonder who hired her for a law enforcement job because those people need to be fired and blacklisted. 6 episodes in and the idiocy of some of the residents is almost unbearable. Seriously, how stupid can a person be?! This drama is pretty much a reflection of what some countries are dealing with in regards to idiots and the covid-19 pandemic. Many people are only concerned about themselves, what they want, and couldn’t care less about the next person. Like the resident rep, some people are more concerned with maintaining their status than being an actual good person. Like the lawyer, some are more concerned with making money than breathing. Like, seriously! People are turning into zombies. What is he going to spend money on? This may be the end of the world as he knows it but I guess he gotta make that paper! Smh. The vlogger, omg, the vlogger. What a selfish little brat. That man is such a bum. Don’t even get me started on the doctor. That man is the scum of the scum of the earth. All of that being said, I am hooked on this drama. It’s action packed and the storyline keeps me on my toes. I love it but many of the characters are insufferable. Had I been in this situation and witnessed all of those brats, I would have escaped with the only other 3-4 people with half a sense and let the zombies take the rest of those idiots.

Post completion edit: Every episode, my eyes were wide open! 10/10 superb drama. Very well written and produced.
