Love Triangle (M/F/M)

1 - FL is torn.

The FL falls for the ML first but is rejected. He sets the FL up with the SML but regrets it. The FL can't choose between them (because logically she should like the SML), so she openly dates both of them for a bit. But the SML never really had a proper chance because the FL never got over her feelings for the ML.

In her mind the FL knows the SML is a good person, but he is quite naive and somewhat boring. In her heart, she only really ever falls for the ML, although mentally she is aware that his behaviour exhibits many warning signs and she tries to talk herself out of her feelings at first.

Although the SML is one of the favourite characters that the FL wrote and she admires his good looks, she never has any actual feelings for him. He's not a bad guy but is a bit annoying at times.

A secondary character is attracted to the FL. He purges those feelings and ends up creating the character who is basically the SML, who is also drawn to the FL. He's a bit of a trickster / villain-lite. He never has a real chance with the FL.

The SML is great but the FL never views him as a potential romantic partner. When he hints at his feelings she tells him she's only interested in being friends. He agrees and says he wants to stay by her side as whatever she wants him to be but makes it clear throughout that he's still interested if she changes her mind.

The leads are close childhood friends. Then a new boy enters the picture.

Very likeable SL never had a chance even though he's a much better friend than the ML.

SL confesses before completely falling for the FL in order to get information. Despite falling for her, he tells her his confession was false so she shouldn't feel burdened. He never confesses his true feelings again :(

Although it almost doesn't feel like the love triangles are love triangles, especially in the FL's case, given how awful the spouses are.
