My Fav BLs (with some GL’s)
An ordered list of all the BL, Bromance, and GL’s I have completed, ranked from my PERSONAL favourites to least favourites with a plot description and short review of my thoughts (check the bottom of my profile page for more information about my ratings and their meanings). I will not include shows I’m currently watching or have dropped, nor will I be including special episodes (with the exceptions of Our Skyy 1 & 2, HIStory, and My Universe), separate cut/uncut versions, or behind the scenes. Any dramas with no plot descriptions at the bottom of this list haven’t been reviewed yet; I will get around to writing one and moving them to their correct placement on the list eventually, lmao.
—Reminder that you don’t have to agree with my thoughts and views, but you do have to respect them! : )

1. SOTUS
Thai Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
- This is honestly one of my favourite BL series ever, mainly for the nostalgia but specifically because of how high quality it is despite being considered an ‘older’ BL. Although many BL’s have come out since that I would consider better than this, I’ll forever hold this series close to my heart, and I don’t think it’ll ever leave the first place rank. If you are looking to watch a good BL with characters who have great chemistry, a great plot, and a well-budgeted series, definitely go for this one. This is about a boy called Kongpop that joins a school to study engineering, and there he meets the head hazer, Arthit, and at first they can’t stand each other, but with time they eventually begin to see each other in a new light. It has incredibly cute moments and shows the progress of enemies to friends to lovers!! It also has a few side couples, though we don’t get to look into their relationships very much. This series was definitely a game changer in the BL industry, and also, if you’re new to BLs and notice that a lot of BL’s are based in an Engineering facility, this series and its large popularity are one of the main reasons why there are so many engineer-based BL’s. So if you’re interested in getting started, I would absolutely recommend this to be your first BL!

2. O Indomável
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
Wow. This series is definitely one of, if not the best series I have ever watched. The only reason this isn’t in the Number 1 spot is because it isn’t technically a BL. As this was based in China, the novel and manhua are BL’s, but this series and the anime are just bromances. You may recognise this show by its other name, Mo Dao Zu Shi, or The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. This series is about two boys named Wei Wuxian/Wei Ying and Lan Wangji/Lan Zhan. They are so different that they begin as rivals, but as they grow closer, they soon become attached and see the other as their soulmate. However, when Wei Ying disappears for 3 months and comes back having learnt Demonic skills, members of other clans begin to protest, causing Wei Ying to go rogue, starting a war. After Wei Ying accidentally causes the death of many lives, he throws himself off a cliff and falls to his death. 16 years later, a boy named Mo Xuanyu took his own life and summoned Wei Ying’s spirit into his body to take revenge for his life. Around this time, the village has been attacked by deadly ghosts, and cultivators from the Lan clan have showed up to help the situation. Here Wei Ying meets Lan Zhan again, who helps him discover who was the one that really killed all those cultivators many years ago. This was the most incredible series I’ve ever watched. It will make you smile, laugh, cry, and feel emotions you probably have never felt before. This may be a very long drama, but it’s by far the best and I can’t recommend this enough! The chemistry was just insane, and the plot was so interesting. Please don’t be fooled by the confusing first episodes; this series is absolutely a must watch.

3. Causa da Morte
Thai Drama - 2020, 14 episodes
The first thing I want to state is that even though this series isn’t in the 1st spot, this is my favourite BL series of all time!! As soon as this was announced, I knew instantly I was going to love it. It has an interesting, hooking plot with a suspenseful crime genre, which is one of my favourites. MaxTul is the main couple, which made me so happy as they are already well established as a couple with boundless chemistry. I had so many hopes and expectations that part of me worried this wouldn’t live up to them. However, I’m not even surprised to say not only did they meet my expectations, they far surpassed them. This series focuses on Bun, a medical examiner who moved back to his hometown after finishing his university degree. When investigating the murder of an old friend of his named Jane, who was found dead, hanging from the ceiling, he ruled it as a homicide instead of a suicide. This conclusion makes him a target, and Jane’s killer begins targeting and threatening him. All conclusions he comes to point to one man, Tan. Bun first met Tan when he was very drunk and accidentally kissed him. Tan worked with Jane, and his brother, Pued, was in a relationship with Jane. Tan convinces Bun to team up and find the killer, and eventually Bun moves in with Tan after being threatened by Jane’s killer. As the two spend all their time together, strong feelings develop between them. But can anything come of this connection while they run the risk of being murdered so that Jane’s killer can remain anonymous? This series was just incredible; MaxTul had so much chemistry, and I completely fell in love with all the other cast members. I hold this series very close to my heart. I loved everything about it, from the acting and chemistry to the cinematography and plot. This is what I call a perfect BL!

4. Contei ao pôr do sol sobre você
Thai Drama - 2020, 5 episodes
When I think of this drama, there is one word that comes to mind,: “perfection.”. The storyline is about Teh and Oh-aew, who were childhood best friends until a rivalry split them apart. Several years later they meet again as they prepare for university, both wanting to study communication arts, hoping to become actors. They meet in a Chinese language class and Teh, who is top of the class, offers to help Oh-aew study in the hope of rekindling their friendship. However, their reunion and the subsequent time they spend together end up unlocking stronger feelings between them. This series was just incredible for so many reasons, but for me, the best part was exactly how real their feelings were to me as a member of the LGBT community myself. The subtle self-homophobia they both show and the confusion they feel with their identities made me cry so many times throughout this show. This series only has five episodes, but it took me 3 days to finish it because I kept having to pause it when I got too emotional. The scenery, setting, and overall production value were absolutely incredible, and I’m blown away at just how amazing the cinematography is for a BL series, and it’s not at all an exaggeration to say this is the best cinematography I’ve ever seen from any series or movie I’ve ever watched. This was easily one of the best series I’ve watched, even including non-BL series in that statement. I’m completely overwhelmed still, and I can’t even write a review that will do this series justice. If you can only watch one BL in your life, please let it be this one!

5. Eu Não
Thai Drama - 2021, 14 episodes
This was an incredible series that contained almost all of my favourite themes, including gangs that fight against social injustice, identical twins switching identities, and of course a romance that doesn’t feel forced but is sweet and natural. This series is about White; he and his twin brother Black were separated after their parents divorced and taken to different countries. When White returns to Thailand, he discovers Black had recently gotten into a serious fight, leaving him in a coma. White decides to find out who caused Black’s injuries and poses as him, joining the gang he’s part of in the process. There he meets Sean, who makes it clear right away he and Black hate each other. Through the fight against social injustice, they target a popular politician, Tawee, known for his corruption. As White joins their plans to take Tawee down, he struggles to hide his true identity while developing feelings for Sean. This was amazing, and I loved it so much. The main aspects of this series, such as a gang formed to fight against the corruption of political parties combined with twins that have special abilities and are able to feel each other’s pain, create the most incredible series I’ve ever seen. I was devastated when it finished airing and can’t recommend this drama enough. This is absolutely a must-watch, and I would go as far as saying, if you haven’t watched this series, you haven’t lived, and if you didn’t like this series, I don’t trust you, lmao.

6. The Sign
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
This series had me completely lost for words. I came into this BL not sure what to expect and left with tears in my eyes, an interest in ancient Thai history and mythology, and higher respect for the entire cast. This series is about Tharn and Phaya, two cadets aiming to become police officers in the toughest training course available. Tharn has a special ability, the power to see dangerous events that will happen a few minutes into the future, and does his best to help people prevent these situations alongside his childhood friend, Yai. Phaya grows suspicious of Tharn’s premonitions, but after one of the camp’s instructors is found dead, the two are swept into a series of dangerous events. After they qualify as police officers, each case they take on seems linked to the case of Tharn’s parents murder. With the help of Yai and two of their new friends, the lovers Khem and Thongthai, the five of them decide to secretly research the connection between all these cases and find one man, Montree, is believed to run a secret drug ring, and swear to take him down. Meanwhile, Tharn and Phaya grow closer and believe they have some deeper connection as they soon discover they have not only met when they were younger, but were a couple in their past lives. However, every life they have lived, they were a couple that ended in tragedy after Tharn continued to sacrifice his life for Phaya. This life might be their final chance; can they survive the challenges they face together, or will fate continue to play out the same way? This was an incredible 10/10 series, the aspects of mythology were mind-blowing and the cinematography was just insane. Each character was amazing with in-depth, nuanced backgrounds, and I found myself drawn to all of them. BillyBabe’s chemistry was on another level, and I absolutely want to see more from them. This series is definitely a must-watch!

7. Last Twilight
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
From the very second the pilot trailer was released, I knew I was going to absolutely love this series. What I wasn’t expecting was for it to surpass every expectation I had and end up becoming one of GMMTV’s best BL’s they’ve ever released. This series is about Mhok, a poor student who went to prison after a fight went out of control and is now searching for a job. One day, he decides to attend an interview searching for a carer for a blind man, where he meets Day, an athlete who is slowly losing his vision. Mhok initially walks away after witnessing Day’s poor attitude but meets him a few days later and saves him from being hit by a car. Day is intrigued by Mhok, realising he does not pity Day and instead encourages him to do things on his own, leading him to offer Mhok the job as his caretaker. Over time, Mhok starts thinking of Day as more than just a job, but how can a poor student with a criminal record take care of a rich son like Day? When Day is given 90 days left of sight before he’ll become completely blind, Mhok decides to help Day travel and visit some of the greatest sights in Thailand before he will be unable to see them. In this journey, will Day be able to accept and reciprocate Mhok’s feelings, or will this remain a one-sided love? And also, will a miracle come and allow Day to get a cornea transplant so he can regain his vision? This was an absolute masterpiece; everything from the acting to the chemistry and cinematography was a perfect 10/10. Aof, you’ve done it again, and a huge well done to JimmySea; you were incredible. I knew I was going to love this the second I watched the pilot trailer, but even then, it surpassed every expectation I had. We really need more BL’s with disabled characters, and I hope this is the turning point for many more to come. This is absolutely a must-watch and I cannot find the words to describe how perfect this series was!

8. Para Sempre o Primeiro
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
I didn’t expect to love this series so much, but it was absolutely adorable. This series is about Zhou Shu Yi, who has been in love with his childhood friend, Jiang Yu Xin, for many years. He gets his heart broken after finding out she is in love with his friend, Fang Zheng Wen, who also returns her feelings. After finding this out, he finds and gets closer to his rival, Gao Shi De, who is number 1 in everything, and Shu Yi has never managed to pass him in anything. At first Shu Yi hates him after getting blackmailed to be his “servant” until graduation. However, as time goes on, he discovers Yu Xin has been in love with Shu Yi ever since they were young, and Shu Yi finds himself returning his feelings. However, Yu Xin is hiding a secret. After graduation, Yu Xin will be moving to America with his mother as she is getting remarried. Will Yu Xin decide a long-distance relationship is not worth it and stay away from Shu Yi, or will he find the courage to confess his feelings regardless of the situation? I really loved this series; all the actors were so amazing, the chemistry was on another level, the plot was super interesting, and I didn’t feel any awkwardness from them. Taiwanese BL’s are often a hit or miss for me, but this was definitely a huge hit. I’m so happy I watched this and genuinely cannot recommend this enough! If you love a good enemies-to-lovers and a couple with strong, natural chemistry, I highly recommend this series!

9. Meus Apenas 12%
Thai Drama - 2022, 14 episodes
This series is criminally underrated, and I just don’t understand why! This series is about Seeiw and Cake, two best friends who live next door and have been friends since birth. As they grow older, Seeiw realised he had developed feelings for Cake, but the problem is Cake is super popular in school and already has a girlfriend. After an unfortunate separation for four years, Seeiw begins to come out of his shell and makes new friends in the time Cake has gone. Cake returns to a new, confident Seeiw and begins to realise he’s always had feelings for Seeiw, but is it too late to act on them? I’m honestly still in shock at just how underrated this series is; this was an absolute 10/10 masterpiece. I loved the “old school” feeling at the beginning, and it slowly became more and more modern as time in the series passed. I honestly could have believed that this was filmed back in 2009 when it was originally set. As someone who’s queer myself, this is easily the best Thai BL series ever released in regards to the LGBTQ+ representation it has. If you don’t like slow burns, then you may struggle to get through this, but for me, the slow progression of their relationship added to the charm of this drama and made their relationship so much more realistic and raw than I ever expected. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Wabi Sabi may not be the best BL company out there, but they’re easily one of the most diverse and inclusive companies in the industry. SantaEarth’s chemistry was insane, and this is definitely my favourite BL that came out in 2022.

10. Cherry Magic!
Japanese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
When I first heard about this series, I didn’t think I’d enjoy it as much as I did, but I ended up binge-watching the whole series within a day and immediately wanted to rewatch it again. This series is about Adachi, a virgin just about to turn 30. There is a myth that if you turn 30 and are still a virgin you unlock magic powers. On Adachi’s birthday, he gains the ability to hear people’s thoughts just by touching them. While he’s still trying to work out his powers and how they work, he accidentally discovers that his handsome and talented coworker, Kurosawa, is in love with him. Adachi begins to use his ability to help his coworkers and gets closer to Kurosawa. But when Adachi’s best friend, Tsuge, also gains the same ability and falls in love with a delivery boy named Minato, Adachi must learn to confront his growing feelings for Kurosawa. This series was so sweet, yet it had strong elements of comedy that actually made me cry from laughter. Adachi is very clumsy; he trips over and drops things often, and he finds it difficult to express words and emotions, which made him a very relatable character for me. This was definitely one of my favourite BL series of 2020, and I’m so glad I decided to give it a go.

11. Triagem
Thai Drama - 2022, 13 episodes
I have honestly no words to describe just how amazing this series was; it’s just a complete 10/10 masterpiece. This series is about Tin, a medical resident who lost his sister a few years ago because of a drunk driver, and since then hates caring for drunk drivers in the ER. One day a student called Tol is brought in after hitting a man on a motorcycle with his car while drunk and dies on the operating table. Tin walks away, not too sad over this drunk stranger’s death, until he falls asleep and wakes up stuck in a time loop to the morning before this accident took place. Tin is given one job: to save Tol’s life. However, no matter how hard he tries, Tol always ends up dead some way or another. Through Tin’s attempts, he discovers a sinister plot carried out by the hospital’s professor, Sakda, and realises Tol’s death and the deaths of many of his close friends and colleagues may be linked to this plot. Tin now has a new objective: stop Professor Sakda’s plan and save as many lives in the process as possible if he wants to end this time loop. But by living through these situations again and again, won’t Tin eventually feel something stronger than just protection for Tol? Will something more come from their connection, or is death an inevitable part of their story? This was incredible; it was such an interesting plot, and TaeTee has such great chemistry together. It’s awesome to see them in a main role together after their lack of screen time in 2 Moons and Hotel Stars. I really hope to see more from them in the future. I cannot recommend this enough; it’s definitely a must-watch (especially if you liked Manner Of Death; these series are set in the same universe, so you may recognise a couple of familiar faces).

12. Desconhecido
Taiwanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
This is a BL that absolutely shocked me. I came into this series not expecting much and left it with tears in my eyes; it was such a heartfelt and impactful romance that I genuinely felt my heart flutter at many scenes. This series is about Wei Qian, who takes care of his younger sister, Wei Li Li, after their mother died. One day he meets Wei Zhi Yuan, who is homeless and curled up on the side of the road. He takes Yuan in and adopts him into the family, secretly changing his name and identity with the help of a gang leader he works for. Qian takes on several illegal jobs to help support his siblings, with the help of his best friend San Pang. As they all grow up, Yuan begins to develop romantic feelings for Qian, the man who is his brother in all but blood, and secretly helps him make money behind the scenes to support Li Li’s dream of becoming a model. When Yuan can’t stop himself and finally confesses his feelings for Qian, he is sent away to study abroad for several years in the hope that, once he returns, Yuan’s feelings for Qian will be gone. This backfires when a new and confident version of Yuan returns, and this time he is not giving up so easily. Will Qian be able to open himself up to Yuan’s love, or will he close himself off to romance for good? This is absolutely incredible; I’d go as far as to say this was a masterpiece. Everything from the acting to the plot progression was perfect; the pacing and chemistry were seriously on another level. This is such a heartfelt and realistic series and is most definitely a must-watch!!

13. ThamePo Heart That Skips a Beat
Thai Drama - 2024, 13 episodes
As a huge LYKN and T-Pop fan, I already knew I was going to love this series. What I didn’t expect was for this to become one of my new favourite BL’s that completely blew me away and made me feel so many emotions, from sadness that left me crying to happiness that left me laughing and anger that made me want to punch someone, lmao. I can’t put into words how amazing this drama was. This series is about Po, a man who recently broke up with his long-term boyfriend, Earn, and is looking for a new job. One day he ends up applying for the role of director to create a documentary about the famous boy group MARS after he discovers that MARS is planning to disband because the leader, Thame, will be making his solo debut in Korea. Very quickly, he realises that the whole band is miserable. Thame doesn’t want to disband and go to Korea, and the rest of the members, Jun, Pepper, Dylan, and Nano, don’t want to leave either. Po decides to help Thame bring the band back together and convince the CEO of Oner Entertainment to let MARS stay as a group. But along this journey, Po and Thame both begin developing strong feelings for each other. Can an idol in the public eye be allowed to date a male non-celebrity, or will their fans turn against Thame and the rest of MARS in the process? This was just incredible, and it’s a series I believe everyone should watch. It leaves us with an amazing and important message: that idols are human and should be allowed to date and have their own private lives without fans turning against them. I’m so impressed with the whole of LYKN’s acting, especially William’s, who played Thame since this is his first ever series. Est also did an incredible job; I’m genuinely so lost for words. This is absolutely a masterpiece and definitely a must-watch. I hope everyone takes the message of this series seriously and that you all enjoy it as much as I did.

14. Classe dos Heróis Fracos
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Well… I’m now crying. First of all, this series was absolutely incredible; it’s definitely my favourite K-Drama of all time! I’ve included this due to the bromance between the two male leads, but be warned this isn’t actually a BL series. This drama is about Yeon Sieun, a student who is working at the top of his class, always getting the best grades but is very lonely and isolated by his peers due to his cold and unfriendly nature. This also makes him a target for the class bully, Jeon Youngbin, who targets him and tries to ruin his life several times. When Youngbin takes things too far and secretly drugs Sieun during an important exam, Sieun goes mad and ends up beating Youngbin so violently he is sent to the hospital with a broken nose. Sieun only stops his attack when Sooho, the strongest boy in the class, steps in and stops him. Sieun and Sooho quickly become fast friends, fighting against the bullies together, joined by a new transfer student, Oh Beomseok. But Beomseok grows jealous of their friendship and is already mentally fragile due to his bad home life. How far will Beomseok go in his jealousy, and how badly will Sieun and Sooho suffer due to his actions? This series was absolutely incredible and so heartbreaking that I cried. Park Jihoon is genuinely one of the greatest actors in the industry, and his performance as Sieun was just incredible. The only reason this isn’t higher on this list is because this is a very light bromance, with nothing romantic really going on between the leads. Despite this, I would absolutely recommend this to everyone; it’s definitely a must-watch drama. Just make sure you prepare some tissues; you’re going to need them!
-
15. High School Frenemy
Thai Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I never expected to love this series as much as I did, but it was absolutely incredible. There wasn’t a single episode where I felt bored; everything about it was just amazing, and I’m so glad to have been introduced to SkyNani this way! This series is a remake of the K-Drama School 2013, which focuses on a school with two campuses, Udon Phithak and Thep Burapha, who are always at odds and fighting. The principal decides to merge these two campuses together in the hopes that the conflict and fights will end, focusing mainly on class 2 containing the troubled students. Here we meet Saint from Thep Burapha and Shin from Udon Phithak; these two were childhood friends but separated due to a past conflict. Saint has a lot of regrets from their past and tries to reconnect with Shin, but Shin has never forgiven him for what happened between them and refuses to be around him. Each kid in class 2 faces their own problems outside and inside of school. Can their two new teachers, Jan and Sung, help reunite the children together and turn the unruly class 2 into a kind and studious group of friends? This series has a bit of everything: a strong and incredible love between Saint and Shin that I refuse to call just a bromance, action and gang fighting, bullying, and the pressures that parents place onto their children. There’s so much more that I can’t even describe it all. I love this series with all my heart, and I really hope we get to see more of Sky and Nani in the future. They are two phenomenal actors who seriously deserve everything!!!

16. KinnPorsche
Thai Drama - 2022, 14 episodes
From the second the original pilot trailer for this series was released, I immediately knew I would love this series, and, despite the major changes, actor swaps, company changes, etc., that the production went through, it definitely did not disappoint. This drama is about Kinn, the son of a mafia leader, who one day gets attacked by enemies of his father behind a bar. There he meets the bartender Porsche who helps Kinn escape his attackers, intriguing Kinn and his father. Porsche is then forced to work for him as a bodyguard in exchange for money and protection for Porsche’s younger brother, Porschay. Porsche hates his job and tries everything to get on Kinn’s nerves but needs this job in order to provide for his brother and pay off his uncle’s debt. Shortly after working there, Porsche takes on a job in which he gets drugged, where Kinn saves and sleeps with him. While Porsche is angry that Kinn took advantage of him like that, he eventually looks past his anger, and the two begin sleeping together and soon begin dating. However, with Kinn’s rival and cousin, Vegas, discovering their relationship, how safe are they after all? And what happens when another one of Kinn’s bodyguards, Pete, is caught sneaking into Vegas’s home after being given a mission from Kinn? Meanwhile, Kinn’s younger brother Kim is distrustful of Porsche, so he secretly approaches Porschay, aiming to find out if Porsche has any bad intentions. Porschay, unaware that he is being used, quickly falls in love with Kim. But what happens when he finds out the truth, can he ever forgive Porsche and Kim for what they’ve put him through? I loved his drama so much, and I cannot recommend it enough to do this justice. Everything about it, from the acting to the chemistry to the plot and cinematography, is a perfect 10/10; just watch it, and you won’t be disappointed.

17. O Presidente da Minha Escola
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
When someone asks me what’s a drama that completely blew me away, this series will always be my go-to answer. This is about Gun, the head of the school’s music club and leader of a band called Chinzhilla. When the new school principal threatens to suspend the club’s activities, Gun decides to try out for the role of School President, knowing only then the club can be saved. This plan is derailed by his classmate Tinn, who also happens to be the principal’s son. Gun believes Tinn became the school president just so he could disband the music club, yet as we discover from the first episode, Tinn does this to help Gun and the music club because he has had a crush on Gun for 2 years. However, the music club has a rule that no one can date until they win a popular music competition known as HotWave. Tinn secretly helps Gun with this competition while trying to hide his feelings for Gun from his mother, as she would never allow her son to date a troublemaker like Gun. Over time, Gun begins to also develop feelings for Tinn and becomes aware of Tinn’s feelings for him. The question is, will the Chinzhilla’s be able to win the competition so Tinn and Gun can finally date, or are they destined to never be together? This series was absolutely incredible; the music was amazing, the actors were insane, all of the couples were so sweet, and of course, Tinn’s best friend Tiw was the best character I’ve ever seen in a BL. I loved everything about this series; don’t let the simple-sounding plot stop you, because there is a reason why (at the time of writing this) this is currently the highest-rated BL series on MyDramaList. I can’t recommend this series enough; it’s incredible.

18. 180 Graus de Longitude Entre Nós
Thai Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
I will forever be so angry because of how underrated this series is. This is one of my all-time favourite BL’s that I hold very close to my heart. Make no mistake, this is not a particularly happy series, but its beauty lies in the pain we feel while watching it. This series is about Wang, a teenager and son of a famous movie director, Sasiwimol. One day they decide to take a trip away together, just before Wang’s 20th birthday, when they accidentally get lost and meet Inthawut. In was an old friend of Wang’s mother, Sasiwimol, and his deceased father, but they lost contact after his death many years ago. In invites the two to stay with him for a while, and Wang feels an immediate connection to In, believing there’s something important that ties them together. As Wang and In grow closer, Wang realises he’s developed romantic feelings for the man he calls “uncle,” while In recognises Wang’s feelings but struggles between the acceptance of his own sexuality and the secret he hides about Wang’s father. History continues to repeat itself in Inthawut and Sasiwimol‘s eyes, but will this time have a happy ending for all? Can In accept Wang’s feelings and grow to reciprocate them, and can Sasiwimol accept that her son has fallen in love with a man who is not only twice his age, but the man she blames for her ex-husband’s death all those years ago? This was absolutely incredible and heartbreaking at the same time. The acting was insane, the cinematography was definitely the highlight of this series, the plot genuinely made me cry so much, and I finished this series feeling empty in the best way possible. I believe this series is one that every BL fan should watch at least once, as long as they can look past the large age gap, as this is a series I’ll never forget.

19. Jack and Joker
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I knew from the second this series was announced that it was going to end up blowing me away, but even still, it was so much better than I imagined it to be! This series is about Joke, a thief who takes on the name “Joker” to steal from the rich and give to the poor; as such, he is wanted by the police but lives a double life with his family of doctors. Jack is a poor boy who dreams of joining a national taekwondo team. After the two meet and Joke accidentally gets Jack in trouble, Jack is forced to become a debt collector while Joke confesses his crimes to the police and goes to jail. Years later, Joke is released and plans to write all his wrongs by approaching Jack to apologise and make things right, only Jack has now become a ruthless and cold-hearted collector who cares little for helping others. At least that’s what he wants people to believe. As the two come together alongside two new friends, Tattoo and Hoy, the son of Jack’s boss, Aran, Jack’s coworker Hope and his boyfriend Save, and the daughter of another rich man, Rosé, the eight of them team up to cause mayhem and stop Aran’s father from gaining even more power and hurting others in the process. In the process, can Joke mend the relationship between himself, his family, and Jack? And will Joke finally be able to create a family of his own? This was just an incredible series; it had a little bit of everything. It has action, drama, crime, adventure, a great romance with fantastic chemistry, the characters are well written, the acting is amazing, and the plot really draws you in. The only complaint I have is the lack of TattooAran screen time lmao. YinWar are such phenomenal actors, and I really hope we can see more from them in the future! I cannot recommend this series enough; it’s absolutely a must-watch!

20. Me Poupe da Sua Misericórdia
Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Any time that I find out a series is being adapted from one of Sammon’s novels, I instantly know it’s going to be one of the greatest series I’ll ever watch. This was seriously incredible; I think I sat around for hours in a daze after finishing this. This series is about a police officer named Thiu, who transfers to be closer to his mother due to her diagnosis of terminal cancer and having only been given a few months left to live, but he is devastated after she passes away the day before he arrives home. Thiu is suspicious about his mother’s death, confronting the doctor who had been taking care of her, since she passed away months before she was supposed to. This doctor was Kan, who has recently had a spike in the number of terminally ill patients he is caring for passing away suspiciously early. What no one else knows is that these deaths are due to Kan’s intervention. Kan has always been a strong believer in euthanasia, peacefully and painlessly ending a patient’s life before their suffering gets worse. However, euthanasia is illegal in Thailand, so Kan must do this behind the police’s backs with the patient’s full consent. However, a recent string of deaths leaves Kan confused, as terminally ill patients are dying through a similar method to euthanasia, but with drugs that are painful for the patient. Kan works with Thiu, who is still suspicious of Kan, to find out exactly who is causing all of these other deaths. But the more time Kan and Thiu spend together, the more their feelings begin to change. Will they find the other person causing these deaths, and in the process will Kan be implicated and sentenced to jail for illegally euthanising patients? This was amazing; the plot and acting were definitely the best part of this series; the chemistry was so natural and insane. The romance isn’t the focus of this series, so I know that disappointed some people, but everything about this was incredible, and I can’t recommend this enough!

21. My Beautiful Man: The Movie
Japanese Movie - 2023
HOW??!!! I just… How? How does every sequel from this series just keep getting better and better? I’m struggling to form the words to write this review because… wow! This is the sequel to My Beautiful Man season 1 and 2, focusing on Hira and Kiyoi as they grow closer to their graduation and both begin focusing on their own careers, Kiyoi as an actor and Hira as an assistant photographer. When Kiyoi’s coworker, Anna, has her relationship with another actor publicly outed, Hira worries that his relationship with Kiyoi will also impact his acting career and, as such, pulls away from him, leaving Kiyoi hurt and confused at Hira’s sudden distance. Hira is still working on his self-esteem issues, so Kiyoi encourages him to submit his work for a prestigious photography award with his employer’s help. Hira sees how talented his boss is as a photographer and begins to lose his passion for photography, believing he will never be at that same level. Kiyoi works with him to improve his confidence and to build their future together. This is honestly such a beautiful movie that as soon as I finished it, I immediately went to go back and rewatch it. Generally speaking, this series and all of its sequels are pretty short, so if you have the time, definitely add these to your plan to watch list. I absolutely consider My Beautiful Man to be a must-watch and I’m sure that if you give it a try, you won’t regret it!!!

22. Be My Favorite
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
Very rarely do I consider a series to be a masterpiece, but there is simply no other word I can think of to describe just how incredible Be My Favourite is. Everything about this series was a perfect 10/10. This series focuses on Kawi, a poor boy who has a crush on his classmate Pearmai. However, he misses out on his chance to confess to her, so she dates and marries another classmate, Pisaeng. When Kawi receives their wedding invitation, he decides to find a gift for Pear, which ends up being a beautiful but broken light-up globe, but after a strange man fixes it, Kawi spins the globe to discover he has gone back in time to before Pisaeng and Pear were dating. He decides he will use this opportunity to get closer to Pear and confess his feelings. In doing so, he inadvertently gets closer to Pisaeng, who is immediately interested in him. Kawi attempts to travel back to the present to see if he has changed anything, only to discover Pisaeng has developed feelings for him. Kawi now has a choice: should he avoid Pisaeng in the hope his feelings will go away, or should he stay by his side and try to return Pisaengs’s feelings himself? The storyline, the character depth, the chemistry between the leads, the perfect ending and the gripping plot combined with the amazing LGBT representation made this drama a masterpiece. As a queer woman, I have to acknowledge how Pisaeng’s coming-out journey is probably the best I’ve ever seen from a BL. The unexpected chemistry between Gawin and Krist still shocks me now, but I’m honestly hoping we may get another series with them. GMMTV really nailed the casting for this series; this was definitely a full 10/10 drama for me, and I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

23. Bad Buddy
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
There is a reason why Aof, the director of this series, is considered to be the best BL director, and this series demonstrates why. This drama is similar to a Romeo and Juliet theme with the main characters being Pran and Pat. They were born into two neighbouring families who have hated each other for years, leading Pran and Pat to grow up constantly competing to show who was the best son between them. Their parents had one main rule for them: never befriend those living next door. However, it seems Pran and Pat are pretty bad at following these orders, and they begin a friendship that blossoms into something more. Can they make their relationship work and survive despite their parents hatred of each other? This series was absolutely incredible; I genuinely never expected to like this series so much, but it completely blew me away. Everything from the acting to the scenery and OST was perfect. I also loved the representations of queer characters and the fact that we FINALLY were given a GL side couple. GMMTV is finally stepping up with the GL’s, and I really hope they keep this energy going! Ohm and Nanon had surprising chemistry, and the plot was really interesting and unique. Instead of being an enemies-to-lovers story it was more of a pretend-enemies-but-secretly-friends-to-lovers, which was really fun to watch lmao. Unfortunately, we won’t ever see Ohm and Nanon pair up again, but I’ll always hold Bad Buddy close to my heart. I highly recommend this series for all BL fans!

24. Até nos Encontrarmos Novamente: A Série
Thai Drama - 2019, 17 episodes
This series was one of the sweetest but most heartbreaking dramas I’ve ever watched. 30 years ago, two boys, Intouch and Korn, fell in love during their university days. However, their fathers were unsupportive of their love, especially Korn’s father, who was a gang leader. Their story ended in tragedy after Korn shot himself with Inn soon following, leaving them both dead in their apartment. At the present day, Pharm enrols at T-University, a boy with a fear of loud noises, frequent nightmares, and a bullet-shaped birthmark on his temple. There he meets the third-year president of the swimming club, Dean, who has a matching birthmark also on his temple. They feel a connection immediately and feel love for each other despite not even knowing each other’s names. The connection caused by the red thread is used to tie lovers together after their death so they will meet again in their next life. They grow closer through Pharm’s friends, Team, another freshman on the swimming team, and Manow, a girl in the acting club along with Dean’s sister, Del. As they grow closer memories of their past life begin to appear as they slowly realise their connection was because in the past, Dean was once Korn and Pharm was once Intouch. As they grow closer and memories begin to appear, they begin losing a part of themselves when they realise their new selves are still connected to their old selves. Although the pacing of this series wasn’t the best, the acting, story, plot, and cast members were incredible! I watched this not only for the plot but also for Fluke and Earth (2 openly gay actors) playing these roles, and I was so happy with this series. It’s not for everyone, but it’s so amazing!!!!!

25. Cherry Magic! Trinta Anos de Virgindade Podem Fazer de Você um Mago?!
Japanese Movie - 2022
An amazing ending to an amazing series. This movie focuses on the events directly after Cherry Magic the series. We see the development of Kurosawa and Adachi’s relationship as they spend some time long-distance after Adachi is given the opportunity to become a manager at a new branch of the company that is opening several hours away. After they survive the long distance, this makes them realise they never want to be apart again, and they decide to move in together, introduce each other to their families, and build their life together. Finally, we see the long-awaited proposal and wedding. This was an amazing end, and although I do wish we could have gotten a season 2, I think this was such a perfect ending regardless, with great closure for both couples. I will admit, I’m hoping they may make another movie or miniseries focusing on Tsuge and Minato’s relationship because we didn’t get to see them much, but aside from that I’m so happy with everything they gave us. If you loved Cherry Magic the series, then you NEED to watch this!

26. O Eclipse
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
This was a series I honestly didn’t expect to love as much as I did. This is about Ayan, a boy who transfers to Suppalo, Thailand’s leading all-boys school. The school has a very strict system with rumours of a curse that will punish those who break the rules. Ayan transfers to Suppalo after the death of his uncle Dika, who worked as a teacher there before taking his own life, leaving a journal behind. Ayan knows the school is responsible for his uncle’s suicide and decides to find out the truth behind the school’s dark secrets. On his first day he meets Akk, the head student prefect tasked with taking down a group of protesters who call themselves “World Remembers.”. Akk is a straight-laced student who follows the rules almost religiously, so when meeting Ayan, the rule breaker, he immediately expresses a dislike towards him. As Ayan discovers more of the schools dark secret’s, Akk tries his best to get Ayan kicked out of school. They begin to grow closer while Akk begins to question if the rules he follows really have his best interests at heart, and Ayan shows him just how far the system has brainwashed him. Two boys, both with declining mental health and on the verge of suicide themselves, can they piece themselves back together and expose the school for its corruption whilst protecting each other and the people they care about, whilst also juggling romantic feelings developing between them? This series is incredible; it has pretty much everything I could ever want. Ayan and Akk have great chemistry, and Akk’s struggle with his sexuality and identity is so relatable I nearly cried. I cannot recommend this series enough; everything about it is amazing.

27. Gameboys
Filipino Drama - 2020, 13 episodes
Gameboys is currently the best Filipino BL series I’ve ever watched and probably will ever watch. This at first seemed to be the story of an internet romance during the Covid pandemic surrounding Gavreel and Cairo, but soon it became much more than that. Cairo is a gamer that meets Gavreel, his fan, during a live stream. The two talk and grow close as Gavreel confesses his crush on Cai, making Cai flustered but happy. As they talk more, Cai meets Pearl (the queen!), who is Gav’s best friend and ex-girlfriend. Cairo finds himself feeling jealous, but Pearl quickly understands and sends Cai a video call, clearing up the situation and any misunderstandings, forming a close friendship together. As the series progresses, we see that in only 13 short episodes, the drama deals with the fears of coming out, first relationships, loss of a loved one, betrayal of a friend, and jealousy (that is actually justified for once), which was all done through dual screens with very limited face-to-face interaction. This series is a game changer for BL series, not only in the Philippines but maybe the world. I’m so in love with this series and following on from this series, came Pearl Next Door, a GL featuring our bisexual queen Pearl! This is not just a story of a simple internet romance; this is a story of love and acceptance even in the worst of times. This will make you smile and laugh, but also feel sad and cry; it’s so easy to feel the emotions of the characters, showing just how amazing these actors are. I highly recommend this series to everyone; you will not ever regret watching this!!

28. His Man Season 2
Korean TV Show - 2023, 14 episodes
This was the first ever reality dating show I’ve ever watched, and I don’t think I’ll ever move on from it! This is a sequel to His Man season 1, but it can be watched separately since each season features a different cast. This dating show focuses on 8 gay men: Junseong, Seongho, Seonwoo, Yunghee, Jeongwook, Minsung, Hyunjin, and Hyunjoon. These 8 men all live together in the same house for one week, sharing rooms and beds at night and going on dates with each other throughout the days. Each night they have the opportunity to call one other man to confess their feelings. By the end of the show, they have the chance to choose and write a letter for the man they’re interested in; if two of the men write reciprocal letters to each other, then they can leave the house as a newly formed couple. This dating show was absolutely amazing; the thing I loved most was that the entire cast grew so close throughout this week, and to this day they are all very close and regularly hang out/go on trips all together. Without spoiling the final couples, I will also add that at the time of writing this review (August 2024), the couples who left this show are still currently dating now. The genuine bonds that came out of this show were so heartwarming, and the love between one particular couple was incredible. This show went viral because of one main couple, and I know you’ll understand why if you watch this. Even if you’re not someone who normally watches dating shows, I highly encourage you to watch this, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

29. Como Nos Filmes
Filipino Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
I would say this is probably the second-best Filipino BL series I have ever watched after Gameboys, not that I’ve watched many Filipino series anyway. This series is about Karl, a 19-year-old architecture student who is forced to move into his uncle’s old condo by his parents. One day he meets Vladimir, who sneaks into his house to escape his sister when she visits. His sister accidentally sees a moment between them and misunderstands, thinking they were a couple. Vlad asks Karl to play along with it, and in return, he will help pay Karl’s rent. However, when Vlad has a falling out with his parents and has nowhere else to go, Karl proposes the two of them live together as housemates. But how long will that arrangement last before Karl begins to fall for the out and proud Vlad for real? Karl has never been brave enough to confront his sexuality before, so will he gain the courage to come out, or will he retreat further into his shell and stay far away from Vlad? This series was incredible; the portrayal of queer characters and the journey of coming out was heartbreakingly amazing. I could really relate to Karl’s panic and fear over his own sexuality. Originally I was really hoping this series would get a season 2, but unfortunately there was a large scandal that I won’t get into, so let’s just assume that a sequel is completely off the table and enjoy what we have, alongside sending a lot of love and encouragement to the lead actors.

30. Guardian
Chinese Drama - 2018, 40 episodes
Sadly, another Chinese bromance here adapted from a BL novel, but it was so good! This is about a world that 10,000 years ago had been overrun by demons after they crashed into this world. Now a teacher named Shen Wei is researching what they truly are. One day when a student is found dead, the chief of the SID (Special Investigation Division), Zhao Yunlan, meets Shen Wei, who seems to know him from somewhere but can’t remember where. As hidden secrets are revealed, we discover how they met 10,000 years ago and how they met again. We look into the lives of all the individual members of the SID. We have Changcheng, the pure-hearted boy who recently joined and became a vital member of the division. Then there’s Chu Shuzhi, who was originally one of the demons and joined the SID after the death of his innocent younger brother. Then there’s the cat hybrid Da Qing, the snake hybrid Zhu Hong, the scientist Lin Jing, the ghost Zhang Ruonan, and finally her boyfriend Sang Zan. There are lots of characters we are introduced to, but I didn’t find it confusing to keep track of at all, which I was happy about. This was so amazing; even if the bromance between Yunlan & Shen Wei and Changcheng & Shuzhi was only limited, each interaction was pure and enjoyable. The acting and natural chemistry was so fun to watch, the cinematography and special effects were also stunning. I’m so sad now that I’ve finished it, and I wish, despite the long length, that it could have been even longer!

31. Erro Semântico
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
This is definitely my current favourite Korean BL series; it was so sweet, and I absolutely loved it. I’ve seen the original anime, so when I found out this was being made into a live action, I was really excited, especially after knowing Seo Ham from KNK and Jae Chan from DKZ would be playing the main couple. This series features Chu Sangwoo, a computer science major who is obsessed with rules and structure; he likes everything to be in order with a strong sense of right and wrong. But when he is put into a group project with Jang Jaeyoung, a design major who contributes little to the project, leading to a failing grade and the need to repeat a year, Jaeyoung decides to go after and annoy Sangwoo every day in revenge, forcing them to partner up for their next big project. Over time, after working together, they begin to feel a strong attraction to each other, which develops after Sangwoo impulsively kisses Jaeyoung. Can Sangwoo, the person who always wants to be alone and hates to be touched, fall for the extroverted Jaeyoung, who begins treating him well and respectfully? I honestly loved this series so much; it was so wholesome and sweet and a very enjoyable watch. Jaeyoung was easily one of the best green flag boyfriends from a BL, finding ways to hold Sangwoo without touching his skin and asking permission every time he wanted to touch or kiss him. I genuinely felt butterflies during their kiss scenes, and this continues to be a series I hold very close to my heart. I definitely recommend this BL for everyone to watch right away; it’s relatively short but incredibly sweet and romantic.

32. Eu, um Gângster, Me Tornei um Estudante do Ensino Médio
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
Although I am still frustrated that this series removed the BL aspects from the novel and turned it into a bromance instead, I can’t deny how much I loved this series. This is about Kim Deuk Pal, a 47-year-old gangster who is trying to study and get himself an educational degree after not being able to in his youth. One day he is passing by a bridge and sees a student about to throw himself off; he runs to try and save him, but in the process they both get hit by a car. Deuk Pal wakes up in the hospital to find his spirit has taken over the body of the high schooler Song Yi Heon, a victim of bullying so bad it left him suicidal. Deuk Pal decides to help Yi Heon take revenge on his bullies, make some friends, and build up a better reputation in the hope that when they switch back to their own bodies, Yi Heon will live a better life. This also gives Deuk Pal the chance to get the educational degree he had always wanted. But Deuk Pal soon discovers that his real body died in the accident, realising that if and when he switches back, he will be dead. At school he runs into Choi Se Kyung, a model student who is badly abused at home, and an old friend of Yi Heon’s before the bullying started. Se Kyung immediately realises there is something wrong with Yi Heon and suspects he has an imposter or twin that he’s switched with. As Deuk Pal, in the body of Yi Heon, and Se Kyung form an unlikely friendship, will their bond be enough for Deuk Pal to fight for his chance to live, or will he give up his life just to bring the old Yi Heon back? This was absolutely fantastic; it’s a little weird when you remember the romance is technically happening between a high schooler and a 47-year-old man in a high schooler’s body, but it’s still great lmao. Even though it’s just a bromance, they had amazing chemistry, the plot was really fun and interesting, the acting was amazing and even the cinematography was beautiful. I really enjoyed this and cannot recommend it enough.

33. Amor Pelo Amor
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
I was honestly not expecting to like this series that much, but it was amazing. Such an interesting and unique plot combined with great acting and chemistry created this beautiful BL. This series is about 29-year-old Tae Myungha, who is tired of life and considers ending it all when his only friend asks him to read his book, which is soon being adapted into a game. Myungha admits he didn’t like the book because the main character, Cha Yeowoon, has a very depressing life, which still isn’t happy by the story’s conclusion. His friend asks him if he would be willing to rewrite Yeowoon’s story and how he would change it; after their discussion, Myungha gets drunk and falls asleep. The next moment he wakes up in the body of a 19-year-old in a classroom; behind him sits a boy with the name label Ahn Kyunghoon, a name that Myungha recognises as being a character in his friend’s novel. Myungha quickly realises he has somehow travelled into his friend’s game with one clear mission: to make Yeowoon happy. When Myungha tries to track Yeowoon down, he finds him on a roof about to jump off and saves him, prompting a gradual friendship between the two. However, Yeowoon, finally having a person who cares for him and who he trusts, soon starts to fall in love with Myungha. Myungha now has a dilemma: does he still want to return back to his world after completing his mission, or does he want to stay a student and allow himself to fall for the main character knowing the potential suffering and heartbreak that could come with this? This was an amazing series with an incredible plot, acting and chemistry, and I also recognised the actor playing Ahn Kyunghoon as Cha Woongki from Boys Planet, which was amazing! I genuinely loved this series and really hope they’ll make a sequel. I cannot recommend this series enough, it’s definitely a must-watch!

34. O Oitavo Sentido
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
I was not expecting to love this as much as I did, but this series completely blew me away. This drama is about Ji Hyun, who has moved to Seoul for university with his childhood friend. He manages to find a job working in a small store selling pork and soju, and while working, he meets Jae Won, who is out with friends celebrating his departure from the military. They immediately become fast friends and Ji Hyun decides to join the surfing club to become closer to Jae Won, a club which is run by not only Jae Won, but his ex girlfriend Eun Ji who he broke up with after finding out she cheated on him while he was in the military. Ji Hyun and Jae Won are instantly attracted to each other but are scared to pursue their feelings. When Ji Hyun gets into a serious accident, Jae Won blames himself and vows to avoid him. Will this separation be the end of their romance, or will Jae Won be able to forgive himself for Ji Hyun’s accident, and can they return to each other’s side again? For a Korean BL series, this has a much longer run time than expected; the plot is great with good pacing, and the chemistry between the leads is honestly incredible. I wasn’t expecting such intimate kiss scenes in a Korean BL, but this completely surpassed any expectations I had from this series. I highly recommend this drama; it’s a beautiful watch with an incredible cast and storyline.

35. Meu Dublê
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
The one thing I will say about this series is that people are absolutely entitled to their own opinions, but the negative comments this series received are loud and WRONG lmao. Seriously though, this was such an amazing and interesting series; it was definitely one of the highlights of 2024 for me. This series is about Joe, a stuntman and aspiring actor who is typically cast as the stand-in for a famous actor called Tong (and just by the way, fuck Tong!). One day Joe meets Ming, who is the brother of Tong’s fiancée, and the two instantly feel a connection. They begin a tentative relationship as Joe falls hard for Ming, unaware that Ming has been in love with Tong for years and is only using Joe as a stand-in since he knows Tong will never love him back. Once Joe discovers Ming’s secret, he runs away to take part in a foreign and dangerous movie set where he ends up falling off a cliff and dying. Several years later he wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe who has been in a coma ever since the same day that Joe’s original body died. Joe must now navigate his new life while trying to help his new mother pay off all the hospital debts. Whilst attending a job interview, Joe runs into Ming again, who can instantly tell something is off about this new Joe. Joe does not want to be around Ming again after everything that’s happened, but will Ming let go of Joe, especially after figuring out his true identity? This was absolutely incredible, with some fantastic twists and turns with beautiful acting, cinematography, and a really interesting plot. I loved everything about this. Up and Poom were fantastic choices, and I won’t hear any negativity against Up!!! I cannot recommend this series enough; it’s definitely a must-watch!!

36. Eu Te Prometi a Lua
Thai Drama - 2021, 5 episodes
This was a fantastic final to an incredible series. This is the second season of I Told Sunset About You and is set a year after the first season as Teh and Oh-aew move to Bangkok and begin university. As they spend time meeting new people and building new friendships, Oh-aew begins questioning his career path and wonders if being an actor is right for him. Meanwhile, Teh becomes friends with a senior in the drama club, Jai, and suddenly begins questioning his relationship with Oh-aew as he starts developing new feelings for Jai. When Oh-aew discovers Teh’s new feelings, old insecurities make their way back into his mind. Will their relationship fall apart as the two of them change and grow, and can they find their way back together and rebuild the broken trust existing between them? I’ll be honest, the themes of infidelity really threw me off, as cheating is a plot device that I absolutely hate. Despite that, I genuinely have fallen in love with this series so much and can’t recommend it enough. The world of ITSAY and IPYTM is a heartbreaking but important journey, and one I highly suggest watching for yourself.

37. Cherry Magic
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
After the love I had for the Japanese adaptation of Cherry Magic, I didn’t think this was going to be nearly as good, so I came into this series with no expectations but was absolutely blown away. This series is about Achi, a virgin who has just turned 30. There is a myth that if you turn 30 and are still a virgin, you unlock magic powers. On Achi’s birthday, he gains the ability to hear people’s thoughts by touching them. While he’s in the process of figuring out his powers and how they work, he accidentally discovers that his handsome and successful coworker, Karan, is in love with him. Achi starts to use his ability in order to help his coworkers and, in the process, gets closer to Karan. In doing so, he discovers how much Karan has done for Achi within the 7 years he’s secretly loved him and believes he is not worthy of Karan’s love and attention. But when Achi best friend, Jinta, also gains the same ability and falls in love with a delivery boy named Min, Achi forces himself to confront his growing feelings for Karan. This was just incredible. The acting, plot, chemistry, everything about it was amazing. TayNew haven’t been a ship since 2019, and I honestly didn’t think their chemistry would still be on the same level it once was. I’ve never been happier to have been proven wrong; this was a fantastic adaptation, and I hope to see it back on the GMMTV YouTube channel someday.

38. BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen
Japanese Special - 2023, 3 episodes
I really enjoyed this series so much; it was sweet and heartfelt but also comedic and hilarious. This drama focuses on two actors, Akafuji and Aoyagi, who are set to star in an upcoming BL series together. When Aoyagi is introduced to Akafuji, he is immediately ignored, leaving him to believe Akafuji hates him. What he doesn’t know is that Akafuji has been a huge fan of his for years, and his cold front is a mask to hide his fanboying. The two end up moving in together so they can grow closer and learn more about each other and the feelings of their characters in the process. However, how long can Akafuji hide his fan crush on Aoyagi, and what happens when he starts treating Aoyagi so well that he begins to develop a crush on him in return? The story of this drama was very interesting, focusing almost behind the scenes on the process for a BL series to be created. The comedic side of this series comes from the reveal that Akafuji is a huge fan of and loves Aoyagi so much that he comes off rather awkward and standoffish towards him but is a total fanboy when he is alone. This immediately gave me A Man Who Defies The World Of BL vibes, which is also one of my favourite Japanese BL’s, so I was very impressed and excited about that. I won’t lie, I was a little nervous about the number of episodes, as often shorter series tend to be fast-paced and miss out a lot, but the pacing of each episode was great, well planned with a perfect mix of comedy and heartfelt romance. I’m really hoping they’ll give us a season 2. I’ll definitely be adding the manga this is adapted from to my plan to read list. This has been absolutely hilarious; I love a good comedic romance, so this was perfect for me. I hope to see more BL’s with similar themes and genres to this in the future.

39. Unintentional Love Story
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
What exactly are they putting into the recent K-BL’s? Because Korea has really stepped up its game, this was an incredible series, and I will cry if we don’t get to see more from them, so a sequel better be made! This series is about Ji Wonyoung, who was fired after his previous manager was caught in a corruption scandal. Angry about the unfairness of the situation, he decides to spend some time away, where he soon meets the artist, Tae Joon, in a pottery shop. Wonyoung recognises Tae Joon as his previous company’s CEO’s favourite artist who disappeared two years ago, and they have been trying to track him down ever since his disappearance. Wonyoung believes if he convinces Tae Joon to work with the company again, he may get his old job back and decides to grow closer to Tae Joon by working part-time in the nearby coffee shop he frequents. Unknowingly, he begins to fall in love with Tae Joon without realising it, but by the time he realises his feelings, things have already gone too far. Will Tae Joon stay with Wonyoung even after finding out that their whole relationship was built on a lie, or can he move on from his past and forgive Wonyoung so they can continue their relationship together? This was absolutely beautiful, from the cinematography to the acting, and especially the chemistry. My only complaint was that the side couple hardly had any scenes together, so I’m hoping the potential season 2 will change that. This is 100% worth watching, and I highly recommend it.

40. Unintentional Love Story Spin Off
Korean Movie - 2024
I’ve been waiting so long for Ho Tae and Dong Hui to have their side story adapted, and this definitely surpassed all my hopes and expectations. This is the side story to Unintentional Love Story the series, which focuses on the childhood love story between Ho Tae and Dong Hui, including how their feelings began to change and develop and the incident that caused them to avoid contact for several years. After Ho Tae’s father passed away, he and his mother returned to their childhood home, where they met his old friend, Dong Hui. Dong Hui ends up coming to live with them after he was kicked out by his abusive father for being gay. While living together, Ho Tae and Dong Hui both come to the realisation that their feelings towards each other have surpassed just friendship. In order to cope with what he believes are unrequited feelings, Ho Tae dates anyone who asks him out so he can keep Dong Hui off his mind. But after one incident where they end up kissing, how will their dynamics change? This was absolutely incredible; the acting, chemistry, pacing, cinematography, and everything else were perfect! If you’ve seen and enjoyed Unintentional Love Story, then you’ll absolutely love this; it provides a lot of the background context for why they treated each other the way they did throughout that series. I’m so in love with this, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a fantastic series that showcases the fragility of love and the difficulties with coming out and accepting your own sexuality. This is definitely a must-watch, and I hope you enjoy this just as much as I did!

41. Blueming
Korean Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
This series was so cute. For a Korean BL, I was pleasantly surprised with the chemistry between the main couple. This drama is about Si Won, a student working in film production who has spent the last few years working out to stay in shape, having spent most of his life overweight. At college he meets Da Un, a handsome and rich boy who seems to have everything he wants fall into his lap. Siwon is jealous of Daun and attempts to avoid him on campus, a plan that is derailed after they are partnered together in almost every class they take. As they spend time together working on Siwon’s film, feelings grow between the two. But after Siwon’s film wins an award that Daun’s parents oversaw, Siwon starts to question whether anything he’s accomplished has been his own, or are his connections to Daun creating opportunities he does not deserve? There was so much chemistry in this series and I genuinely loved it. This is how I want to see Korean BL’s be from now on: a great plot with a perfect couple. Everything about this series was really interesting and heartwarming; I loved Si Won’s journey of self-love and acceptance after being bullied for so long due to his weight. I also loved their stories and journeys as they figured out their sexualities and fell in love with each other. The acting was amazing, and I think my only complaint is that this series is far too short!! Aside from that, I can’t recommend this series enough; it was beautiful.

42. Bokura no Shokutaku
Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
This was such a cute series; I genuinely cannot put into words how much I enjoyed it. This series is about Yutaka, a lonely man who is known to eat alone and avoids other people as much as possible. One day he meets a young boy named Tane and shares his onigiri with him before his older brother Minoru shows up. Minoru helps raise Tane due to their mother’s death several years ago and immediately becomes drawn to Yutaka, seeing the way he interacts with his younger brother. Minoru invites Yutaka over to teach Minoru how to make his special onigiri, which leads to them all having meals together once a week. Through this experience, Yutaka learns what family meals feel like, becoming less afraid of eating around others, and feelings begin to develop between Minoru and Yutaka. This series is genuinely the sweetest show I’ve ever watched; it perfectly captures the dynamics of a “found family,” which I absolutely loved. The chemistry between the leads was great, and the interactions between Yutaka and Tane were adorable. This is definitely a series you need to watch at least once, and I cannot recommend it enough!

43. Luz em Mim
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Wow. I’m in awe of what I’ve just watched. This was absolutely incredible, and I’m devastated that this has ended already, and I’m praying for a season 2 to be made. This series is about Woo Tae Kyung, an introvert with no friends who, after his teacher Seo Haet Bit encourages him to make some friends, joins the student council. There he meets the silent vice president, Noh Shinwoo, who is rather cold and harsh to him for no reason. The president of the council, Shin Daon, who is kind and considerate of everyone he interacts with, and the playful, cute Nam Goong, who is friendly, approachable, and gives great love advice. Soon after joining the council, Taekyung and Daon grow closer as feelings spark between the two, but when Daon is unable to confront his sexuality, Taekyung finds himself drawn to Shinwoo, the man of few words but sweet actions when he believes no one is looking. Meanwhile, Lee So Hee, a girl from the nearby private school who has had a crush on Daon for three years, becomes jealous of Taekyung and attempts to drive a wedge between the two of them. Who will Taekyung finally fall for, the innocent but tsundere Noh Shinwoo or the passionate but secretive Daon? This is definitely a series with a love triangle done right, which is interesting for me as I normally hate love triangles. Although I was definitely team Shinwoo, I found myself loving both characters, and I think in the end I would have been happy no matter who he ended up with. I also really loved the character of Nam Goong and definitely wish he was my friend! I definitely recommend this series if you’re interested in a good slow burn love triangle and if you find introverted characters very relatable!

44. Dead Friend Forever - DFF
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
My jaw hit the floor so many times throughout this series; it was an incredible but disturbing watch. Before I discuss the plot, if you’re interested in watching this series, PLEASE read the trigger warnings very carefully. This is a psychological horror with trigger warnings of serious blood and intense gore, death, themes of graphic suicide, bodily harm, SA, grooming of a student by a teacher, bullying, and there’s probably more than I can’t even think of. If you’re sensitive to any of those themes, I highly advise you to stay away from this series, but if these topics won’t trigger you, then I absolutely recommend this drama. This is about a group of friends who travel to a vacation house in the middle of nowhere. When they find an old camera with a recording of a short film that their old friend, Non, directed, who died three years ago, they begin confronting their horrific past. Who exactly is Non, and what did they all do to him that led to his death? And who is the strange masked killer going after each member of the group one by one? In the script of the short film Non wrote, a masked man hunted down each member in the house until none were able to leave the house again. Is that the killer’s goal, and will this script be brought to life? This series does get a little confusing at times; the first 4 episodes are in the present, and then after that there is a long flashback to the past, which introduces us to Non, and we learn more about him and the rest of the group. Non’s backstory genuinely broke my heart and made me cry; he deserves the world, but unfortunately the world turned its back on him. Now it’s time for justice to come; let’s all root for the masked killer and come watch this series!

45. S.C.I
Chinese Drama - 2018, 24 episodes
This is one of those Chinese dramas that, due to censorship bans, couldn’t make it a full BL but went further than just a bromance. After the criminal Zhao Jue, a psychologist imprisoned for his hypnosis skills causing over 30 people’s deaths, escapes, Officer Bao decides to create a unit known as the S.C.I. This unit will be known as the greatest unit in the force and will have the power to take over any investigation and request help from any other unit, which cannot be refused. The leader of this group is the cop Bai Yutong, known throughout Hong Kong as the youngest and best cop of this generation. Next is the criminal psychologist Zhao Yao, Yutong’s childhood friend/enemy. Then there is the sniper Ma Han, the medical examiner Gongsun, the hacker Shen Lin, the intelligent Bai Chi, and the brave Wang Shao and Zhao Fu. Together they work and solve a total of 3 serial killer cases in this series. The first one, Killer Training Camp; the second, Magic Murder (where we meet my favourite character, Zhao Zhen); and the final, which will progress into the next season, which has a really complicated plot that I can’t really explain. I really enjoyed this, and like I said at the top, it’s only a bromance, but even the criminals said to Yutong, “I will hurt Zhao Yao because I can tell he is the person you care about the most,” and their chemistry is perfect. I can’t recommend this series enough and pray every day that a season 2 will actually be made!

46. Seu Nome Gravado Em Mim
Taiwanese Movie - 2020
This was a movie that tore out my heart, ripped it to pieces, then tried to put it back together knowing my heart will never be the same again. I would definitely consider this a must-watch and implore every BL fan to watch this movie at least once in their life! This film is set in 1987, in an all-boys Christian Catholic school. This story focuses on Jia Han and Birdy, who met during the school band led by a Canadian priest. One day, they were granted a day off to go to Taipei for the late president’s funeral. The two took this chance to explore the city, visiting theatres, and finding themselves inspired by brotherly love and freedom. A few days after this, Jia Han notices his feelings for Birdy have surpassed just brotherly love, but when he tries to confess these feelings, a confused Birdy pushes him away by pretending to fall in love with a girl. The misunderstanding separated them ever since, until three decades later, when the two men met again when they were older and in a much more accepting environment. This was an incredible coming-of-age story, and while it’s definitely not a happy film by any means, it’s so real and heartbreaking that it was amazing. The reason I consider this to be a must-watch is due to the fact that this is based on the real-life story of the writer, except he never reunited with this childhood friend even though he longs to find him again. I loved this movie so much and cannot recommend it enough! Even if you’re not a big fan of heartbreaking series, I really hope you will give this one a go!

47. Meu Lindo Homem 2
Japanese Drama - 2023, 4 episodes
The amazing sequel to My Beautiful Man, the sequel that was (in my opinion) actually better than the first season. Very rarely do I like a sequel more than its prequel, so I’m very surprised to even be typing that out lmao. This season focuses on Hira and Kiyoi’s relationship now that they are officially dating and living together. Kiyoi begins working as an actor and model while Hira is applying for part-time jobs. Hira is still dealing with his own self-esteem issues, leaving Kiyoi alone wondering if Hira truly loves him or was more caught up in the magic of unrequited love, unable to actually open his heart. Hira believes Kiyoi is leagues above him and has prepared himself for the day Kiyoi will leave him; as such, he is keeping his personal life, private life, and family life separate from his love life. Kiyoi just wants a normal relationship where he can meet his boyfriend’s parents and go on public dates and is heartbroken at Hira’s belief that this relationship is temporary. Can the couple finally learn to communicate with each other? I’ve said this before in my review of season 1, and I’ll say it again here: from a psychological perspective, this is one of the deepest and most impactful series I’ve ever watched. The characterisation of Hira is incredible, and I loved that we got to have a deeper perspective into the thoughts and fears of Kiyoi in this relationship. This series has captured my heart, and I will never stop recommending this to everyone. If you don’t watch this, you are seriously missing out!

48. HIStory3: Armadilha
Taiwanese Special - 2019, 20 episodes
This is by far my favourite season in the HIStory series. For a little information about HIStory, this is a collection of series that are set in the same universe but aren’t linked together, so you can watch any of the series in any order you want without it affecting the story. This particular series is about a gang leader called Tang Yi and a police officer called Meng Shao Fei. He has been investigating Tang Yi for 4 years after the death of his colleague. Meng Shao Fei and Tang Yi both have the same goal: to find the man that killed the people they were close to, as Tang Yi’s adoptive father died in the attack as well. Shao Fei believes Tang Yi knew who did it and was involved, and Tang Yi himself thought he knew who caused the attack. However, he is devastated to discover that the situation did not happen in the way he believed it to be. Eventually, Tang Yi and Shao Fei are kidnapped and have to work together to escape. Through this, they become closer, and eventually feelings begin to develop between them. We also look at Shao Fei’s college, Zhao Li An, and Tang Yi’s subordinate, Jack. They meet after Jack takes him to their hideout to find out where Tang Yi was. From this point onwards, we watch feelings between them develop and grow. Will Tang Yi and Jack choose to leave their gangs and follow a straight path for their loved ones, or will the darkness continue to drag them further down? This was a cute series and much longer than the previous seasons had been. I personally love dramas focused around gangs and police officers, so I absolutely loved this one. All in all, it was a really good show that I think everyone will enjoy, with lots of plot twists, some violence, a lot of romance, and a good ending! I highly recommend this!

49. 4 Minutos
Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
The most confusing and amazing series I’ve ever watched with unexpected couples and overflowing chemistry, I loved it all so much!!! This series is about Great, a rich university student who one day accidentally hits a woman with his car. He panics and drives away until all of a sudden he finds himself 7 minutes back in the past. Confused, he continues the same route and ends up hitting the woman again, realising she ran out into the road on purpose, wanting to die. This time he makes a different decision and calls an ambulance to help her. From this moment onwards, he has the power to travel 7 minutes into the past, the chance to change his decisions, and help more people. Visiting the woman in the hospital allows him to meet Tyme, a surgeon who has an unfortunate past with Great’s father and whose goal is to take his family down by revealing their dirty secrets to the world. Great decides to help him after witnessing his close friend Title killing their classmate Dome and travelling back to the past to save him. Meanwhile, Great’s brother Korn is being pressured to take over the family business, particularly the illegal aspects. He does this whilst trying to keep his secret boyfriend Tongkla out of the spotlight. However, his distance only pushes Tongkla further away, especially after Tongkla’s brother is killed and he begins to find comfort in the police inspector Win. However, with Great’s powers, there is more to them than meets the eye. Which future is the real one? Which past was the real deal? How will the story go when truth and reality are not the same? This was an amazing series with the most confusing plot I’ve ever seen. Once you take the time to understand it, it can make more sense, but this is definitely a series to sit on and ponder the meaning over. Overall, I loved it so much and cannot recommend it enough!

50. Escritor Adorável
Thai Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
I’m still reeling from just how incredible this series was. I definitely feel like this is a perfect series to start with if you are just getting into BL’s. This series was about Gene, a writer of boys love novels, who had one of his novels titled “Bad Engineer” turned into a series. During the casting for the main characters, he meets Nubsib, a handsome actor who uses Gene as a stand-in to portray his incredible acting ability and is immediately cast for the main character. After discovering Nubsib’s manager, Tum, was one of Gene’s old friends, Nubsib begins living with Gene as a favour to Tum. While living together, they grow closer than ever, and fans notice their closeness, becoming divided as half ship Gene with Nubsib, while the other half ship Nubsib with his co-star, Aoey. But Aoey seems clearly interested in Gene too and also grows frustrated with the fans shipping Gene and Nubsib. As Aoey enters the scene, how will things change for Nubsib and Gene’s growing relationship? Everything about this series, from the incredible cinematography to the high production value, was just amazing, and I really hold a lot of love for this series. It really focuses on exposing the reality of the industry, both the good and bad aspects. I also love how many typical BL plot lines, such as the kissing while drunk, jealousy, and discovery that they were childhood friends, were taken and well thought out. They refuse to encourage problematic behaviour, and there are many subtle digs towards other typical aspects of BL’s. This is definitely something to add to your plan to watch list, especially if you’re wanting to become a proper BL fan instead of just a casual watcher, then I highly recommend this!

51. Leis da Atração
Thai Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
This was such an amazing series, and I’m still so mad at how underrated it is; it deserves wayyyy more popularity than it currently has. This series focuses on a ruthless lawyer called Charn who is known to solve every case he takes on, often using cheap tricks and illegal methods to get his way. He works on a case allowing his client to walk free after being accused of murder, and so the brother of the victim attacks him. Charn is saved by Tinn and is immediately attracted to him but believes he will never see him again. However, he is soon asked to take a case for the mayor after his son was accused of killing a young girl named Tonkhao in a hit and run. It turns out that Tonkhao was the younger sister of Tinn, who is fighting to bring the killer to justice. Charn originally tries to pay off Tinn to drop the case, but after he realises something is fishy about this case and is soon removed from the case after questioning the mayor’s son, he switches sides and decides to help Tinn seek justice for his sister’s death. Despite their unfavourable start, the two begin to fall in love; however, this case grows more and more complicated the more evidence they gather. Will their love survive, and can they seek justice for Tonkhao even when their opponent is powerful enough to make them disappear? I genuinely cannot put the words together to describe how much I loved this series. JamFilm has insane chemistry, and the plot of this series was so interesting; I cannot recommend this series enough. If you like crime-related dramas, I guarantee you will love this.

52. Meu Belo Homem
Japanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
I want to be very clear: this is a series you will have to look deeply into for you to be able to enjoy this. My best advice coming into this is to recognise that Hira is heavily autistic-coded, and Kiyoi has anger management issues and potentially bipolar disorder. While it is not confirmed that these characters have these disorders, if you want to view their relationship as anything other than toxic and manipulative, this is the best way to view these characters. Although this is an incredibly flawed relationship, I completely fell in love with this drama. This is about Hira, a boy with strong anxiety and a stutter, which leads to him not talking much and having no friends. One day, when starting a new school, he falls in love with Kiyoi, who is known as “the king.”. Kiyoi is popular with lots of friends and is smart and talented at both acting and dancing. Hira decides he wants to stay close to his first ever crush, so he ends up being bullied by Kiyoi’s friends into becoming an errand boy for them. However, despite the unreasonable demands, Kiyoi still secretly protects Hira from any bullies that try to charm him and keeps him safe throughout the school days. As time goes by, will Kiyoi return the obvious feelings of Hira, or will he keep him at a distance, being unable to embrace the idea that he’s fallen for another man? From a moral outlook, this was an incredibly toxic relationship with a strong power imbalance up until the end. But from a psychological perspective, this is one of the deepest and most impactful series I’ve ever watched. The character of Hira is so interesting, and I found myself immersed in the story. I loved this series so much, and each sequel just gets better and better. If you have any interest in psychology and mental disorders, you will fall in love with this series. Even if you don’t,I absolutely consider this series to be a must watch! I hope you can enjoy this series just as much as I did!

53. Your Sky
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I didn’t know what to expect coming into this show, but it completely blew me away. This is genuinely one of the sweetest and most wholesome series I’ve ever watched before and has taken the place of my new ultimate favourite comfort BL. This series is about Teerak, an innocent and naive freshman at university who tries to make everyone around him happy and doesn’t know how to say no or turn people down. Teerak is being pursued by Oh, who he doesn’t like and feels awkward around, but he struggles to communicate that to Oh. Luckily, Teerak has a wonderful group of friends who will help stick up for him and get him out of any uncomfortable situations. This group is made up of Punlee, Type, and Joy, alongside his older sister Babe and her boyfriend Dom. One day Oh invites Teerak and his friends to a bar to celebrate his birthday, where he secretly gets Teerak drunk and tries to coerce him into being his boyfriend. At that moment, Muenfah appears. Muenfah is Punlee’s older brother, known for being cold and withdrawn; aside from his two friends, Real and Hia, he doesn’t spend time with anyone else. Muenfah sees Oh trying to forcefully kiss Teerak and steps in, punching Oh and telling him that Teerak is his boyfriend. Unfortunately, Oh doesn’t believe this and refuses to give up on Teerak, so Muenfah offers to fake date him until Oh gives up and leaves them alone. The question is, how long can a fake relationship last before real feelings start to take over? This was genuinely so adorable it made my heart melt into my chest. Teerak was so sweet and innocent, loved by everyone around him. It was so clear that Muenfah absolutely adored Teerak just as the actors care about each other in real life. ThomasKong did such an amazing job, and I can’t wait to see more from them in the future! If you’re looking for a wholesome series with phenomenal acting and chemistry, look no further than this wonderful series!

54. Ele Está Vindo Para Mim
Thai Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
This is just an incredible and interesting series with a very unique plot. This is about a ghost called Mes who is lonely and has no family to visit his grave. One day a little boy called Than comes along who has the ability to see ghosts and visits him every year. The two of them have a special bond until Than suddenly leaves for a few years with no warning. Mes is about to give up hope in seeing him again but is surprised when Than visits him again when he has grown up and is no longer a child, now a confident and handsome adult. Than finds a way to help Mes escape from the graveyard, and Mes moves into Than’s apartment. They become even closer while they try to solve the mystery of how Mes really died, in the hope that Mes can reincarnate when he discovers the truth. But along the way, the two begin to develop strong feelings for each other, whilst knowing that a ghost and a human cannot have feelings for another or be in a relationship. This was filled with cute moments, heart-stopping scenes, hilarious moments, and unexpected plot twists as we worked out Mes’ true identity. I didn’t think that Singto and Ohm would have much chemistry, but they really did, and I was very impressed with their acting. This is such a good series; the chemistry between the actors is amazing, and the plot is so interesting and unique. If you are another GMMTV BL fan like me, you may recognise most, if not all of the actors in this show!! From a list of GMMTV’s most popular BL’s this is probably the most underrated on that list. I highly recommend checking this out, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

55. Teoria do Amor
Thai Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
This was a sad, tear-jerking drama that made me cry and feel angry, sad, and hurt, but also happy and excited. This was about a boy called Third, who has been secretly in love with his friend Khai for three years. For those three years he has kept his love silent, while knowing Khai is straight and a playboy, who never takes his relationships seriously and doesn’t know how to love. He decides to try and move on, but when Third’s friends Two and Bone discover Third’s feelings for Khai, they try to set them up but fail. Finally, when Third discovers a secret of Khai’s that breaks his heart, he finally gives up and moves on. But when Third falls out of love, Khai falls in love. This drama has no shortage of angst and tears. However, this is unlike the stereotypical dramas and is sad until the very end, but the last few minutes of the ending turn very happy. There is also another gay couple, which came about unexpectedly but fit well. The actors were amazing. Off and Gun played the main couple, proving yet again why I love them so much. Off made us hate and despise his character, then fall in love and root for him in the end. Gun made us love and empathise with him throughout the drama. Don’t watch this expecting a happy-go-lucky show, but definitely give it a go if you don’t mind a lot of angst and can stick around for the very happy ending!

56. Para Minha Estrela
Korean Drama - 2021, 9 episodes
This is such an incredible BL series, and I go back to this all the time. This is about Kang Seo Joon, an actor whose popularity is now in decline after a video of him and another actor leaving a bar with bad bruises surfaced online, suggesting that Seo Joon had beaten his co-star and the media portrayed him as a violent bully. Seo Joon refused to comment on the issue, so he was told by the company to lay low for a while, and they decided he had to move house until it was safer. There we meet Han Ji Woo, a chef working at a small-time restaurant. Seo Joon moves in with Ji Woo, who is immediately put off by Seo Joon’s bold personality, as Ji Woo is rather shy and isolated. As they spend time together, they gradually form a friendship, which eventually leads to something more. However, can a relationship between them last when one is a celebrity and the other is a poor chef with barely enough money to get by? There was so much chemistry between the actors, and despite the relatively short run time, I found myself drawn into the quality and pacing of this series. I just wish this was longer. However, I’m so in love with this season and highly recommend it!!

57. Palavra de Honra
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
Wow, this was just incredible, and despite being technically a bromance due to Chinese censorship bans, you could clearly feel the love between the two leads. This series is a live action based on one of my favourite Chinese BL novels, “Faraway Wanderers.”. This is about Zhou Zi Shu, the leader of a royal praetorian service who turns his life around for the worse in order to escape a dangerous situation he finds himself in. He begins to wander the world disguised as a sickly man when he meets the mysterious Wen Ke Xing and his servant Gu Xiang. On Zi Shu’s journey, he also meets a young boy named Zheng Cheng Ling, who he saves from being murdered by assassins. He takes Cheng Ling in as his disciple, and Wen Ke Xing joins them as they form their own family. But how long can a life of wandering peace last when each of them are concealing their own identities, including Ke Xing, who is actually the Chief of the Ghost Valley? Despite this series apparently having a low budget, you would not have guessed that at all when watching this. It was absolutely incredible, and I loved it so much! The costume and wardrobe design, including the wigs, was stunning; fight scenes were wonderfully choreographed; the acting was on another level; and the plot was really interesting and fun. As a huge fan of the novel, I was very satisfied with this live action and highly recommend it to everyone.

58. Fique Comigo
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
I seriously cannot believe how good this was. If you’ve seen the series Addicted Heroine, then you’ll love this. In my opinion, this was actually better than the original. This series is about Su Yu, a poor high school student living with his father. When he hears about his mother’s remarriage to a wealthy man, he rejects her and refuses to go near her. The man his mother married has a son called Wu Bi from a previous marriage. He, like Su Yu, rejects his new mother and decides to change schools and move out to avoid her. The new school he attends happens to be the same school as Su Yu’s and they are placed in the same class. As they spend time together, hatred turns to like, and eventually like turns to love. All happening without realising they are stepbrothers. When they discover the truth, will they stay together after all, or will their hatred for their parents keep them apart? Let me be very clear, you are going to see many people who will call this a bromance series because it is a Chinese series based on a BL novel (and Chinese censorship sucks!), but everyone who tells you that is completely wrong! This is so much more than just a bromance; Su Yu and Wu Bi are clearly in love, and (spoiler: they literally kiss in the series twice). This is a simple and romantic love story; the love between the characters is shown through their actions rather than their words. My best advice is, don’t go into this series expecting a full BL, but don’t walk away from it thinking it’s just a boring bromance. I hold this series very close to my heart, and I’m still low-key hoping they’ll make a season 2.

59. Vice Versa
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
This was such a good series, which I’m honestly surprised about, as themes of body swapping/multiverse normally aren’t my favourite, as they are hardly ever done well. This series is about Talay, a colourist who started working for a prestigious filming company. One day, he meets the famous actor Puen and gives him a gift to show his support. However, Talay later ends up at the beach with several friends and ends up drowning, where he suddenly wakes up in a different universe in another man’s body named Tess to find out they swapped places. He can only return to his universe once he finds his ‘portkey’ who will help him get home. While searching for his portkey, he meets Tun, an old acquaintance of Tess’, who he soon realises has also travelled across universes. Tun tells Talay about his job as an actor but decides to keep his name a secret. The two of them suspect they are each others portkeys, and to get back to their universe, they must spend a lot of time together until the day they dream of a location. Once they visit the location they dreamed about, they can return home. However, spending so much time together means they have begun to develop feelings for each other. Will they be able to return to their universe, can they find each other again, and will a famous actor and normal worker be able to date in a still-conservative Thailand? This series was a little confusing at first, and there are far too many product placements, but overall I absolutely loved this series and highly recommend it. The chemistry between the leads was insane; they were so sweet, and the whole series was so romantic. The cinematography was a masterpiece, and I loved all the references to other series and actors. I can’t count the number of times I’ve rewatched this.

60. Absolute BL
Japanese Special - 2021, 1 episode
The first part of this series I want to draw attention to is the name, which translates to “A world where everything definitely becomes BL vs The man who definitely doesn’t want to be in a BL.”. The title alone tells you everything you need to know about the series. This is about the main character known as Mob/Mobu, meaning the ordinary background character. He lives almost in a BL manga where everyone around him (including his best friends and younger brother Ayato) falls in love with another man. However, just as the name suggests, the Mobu doesn’t want to fall in love with another man. In this series we watch him take every possible action to prevent all the stereotypical aspects of a BL from happening in his own life. This includes expertly avoiding any situations where love could form between him and another man (for example, taking someone home after they get drunk), and he is actually pretty smart in the way he goes about this. However, will his mission of not turning gay in a world of BL actually be successful? This series is adapted from a manga that I had already read before starting this drama, which is why I was so excited when this series was announced, but this honestly surpassed all of my expectations! The acting was great; there were dozens of couples with super cute moments, and it was absolutely hilarious. The humour was honestly on another level; I don’t think I’ve ever laughed this hard while watching a BL. Also, the OST is one of my all-time favourites. Seriously, what more could you possibly ask for?!

61. The Boyfriend
Japanese TV Show - 2024, 10 episodes
I’ve recently been enjoying some more queer dating shows, and I genuinely thought nothing would ever be on the same level as His Man season 2 for me. I am so happy to say that I was wrong. This is a Japanese gay dating show that takes place over the span of 1 month featuring the contestants Dai, Shun, Taeheon, Ryota, Gensei, Kazuto, Alan, Usak, and Ikou. These men live together while running a coffee truck between them and have the opportunity to go on dates whilst searching for true love. But these are real people who face real issues and struggles in their daily lives. We look into the lives of contestants who are still in the closet to their family, contestants who have no family, and those who have had negative experiences in their past relationships, which continue to affect their future. As the contestants learn and grow with each other’s support, will any of them manage to find love on the way? This was absolutely incredible! Without spoiling anything, there is one couple from this show whose love story went completely viral and are still happy and in love to this day. I genuinely hope you all will watch this and enjoy it just as much as I did; it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, and I loved every second of it. Also, please love Shun as much as I do; he’s a baby who must be protected lmao <3.

62. Século de Amor
Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I wasn’t sure what I would think of this series because, even though I absolutely love DaouOffroad, their projects are very hit or miss for me, but this was absolutely incredible, and I really enjoyed it. This series is about San, a criminal who, 100 years ago, fell in love with a beautiful and wealthy woman, Wat. Unfortunately, their love story ended in tragedy after Wat was killed by the man her family engaged her to, Prince Third. San tries to save her life with the help of the magic tri-coloured stone and wishes for the goddess to someday bring back Wat so they can be together again. San is given the chance to become immortal for 100 years, and as long as he can find Wat’s reincarnation within those 100 years, he will be able to resume his life and continue ageing again alongside her, but if he is unsuccessful, he will die a slow and extremely painful death. San waits almost 100 years and is growing desperate, believing he may never find the reincarnated Wat, so his Taoist friend, Tao, devises a method to find her reincarnation. What none of them expect is to be led to Vee, a crazy and excitable person with a criminal record, who happens to be a man. San immediately believes this is nonsense; there is no way his beloved Wat was reincarnated as a man. But as they spend more time together, a series of unlikely coincidences mean San may have to confront that the woman he loved most is now a man, including Vee’s friend, who happens to be the reincarnation of Prince Third and is still in love with Vee. Will he choose to follow his heart that only seems to point at Vee, or will he waste these last 100 years for nothing and walk away from his love? This was such an interesting and fun series; I will admit that the first half was much better than the second, but I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless. The acting, chemistry, and everything else were top-notch, I love DaouOffroad so much and hope they are given better projects like this in the future!

63. Lutando Contra o Senhor Segundo
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
The amazing second season and ending to such an incredible series. This season was set five years after season 1, when both Zhou Shu Yi and Gao Shi De had now graduated and were working as the CEOs of their own companies. Their two companies join together for a project as we discover they had broken up and spent the last five years apart with no sudden explanation why. This series unravels the misunderstandings that lead to the breakup and the journey as they overcome their past and focus on rebuilding their future together. We also have two side couples that (despite not getting many scenes or moments together) are still just as cute, Pei Shou Yi and Yu Zhen Xuan as the second couple, then Shi Zhe Yu and Liu Bing Wei as the third. Although this season wasn’t on the same level as season 1 in my opinion, I still really loved it and honestly hope they decide to make a season 3! The chemistry between the leads is incredible; Taiwanese fan service really is on another level, lmao. I highly recommend checking this out if you enjoyed season 1!

64. 25 Ji, Akasaka de
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I really love concepts like this and hope we can see even more of these in the future; this was so sweet and fun! This series is about Shirasaki, an aspiring actor who finally finds the opportunity to act in a BL drama where he is paired up with famous actor and model Hayama. Hayama and Shirasaki both went to the same high school and were in the drama club together but never interacted much. During the production of this series, Shirasaki realises he doesn’t understand the thoughts and emotions of his character, so he sets out for a gay bar to find someone to sleep with. Hayama ends up running into him in the gay bar and offers to sleep with him rather than a stranger, so they decide to date for the time they’re acting together in the hope it might improve their onscreen chemistry. But what happens when the feelings of their characters cross over to the actors themselves? Will they resist this attraction, or will they decide to continue their relationship once the shooting is over? This was a great series with impressive acting, chemistry, and an interesting plot that hooked me in right from the beginning. I’m pleasantly surprised by this and hope we get to see these actors in another series together.

65. Only Friends
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
If the word ‘messy’ was a series, it would be this one. This series focuses on a group of four friends (Mew, Ray, Boston, and Cheum) and the relationships between them and also with their significant others as the four work on a group project to set up and open a resort together. The first couple, Mew and Top, met one night in a bar and then later met again when Boston invited his friend to sponsor the resort, who it turns out was Top. Top immediately expresses an interest in Mew and publicly asks Mew to be his boyfriend. Mew initially accepts out of embarrassment but later tells Top he wants to take it slow and get to know him better before they date officially. Mew’s friend Ray has been in love with Mew for a while and, heartbroken over Mew’s new relationship, has a one-night stand with a singer from the bar named Sand. The two begin a friends-with-benefits relationship, but problems arise when it comes out that Top once stole Sand’s ex. Their other friend, Boston, is known to sleep with anyone who expresses an interest in him and becomes friends with benefits with Nick, who works in a tech store and is Sand’s roommate. However, Boston is mad about Mew and Top’s relationship and convinces Top to sleep with him while he’s with Mew. Cheum is their female friend in a long-term relationship with her girlfriend April. The two witness their friends as their love lives fall apart and come back together, and they try to remain strong for their friends sakes. This is so messy, but the good kind of messy. Basically every actor in this series makes out with each other; that’s what makes it so great, lmao. I really enjoyed this series, and if you like mess and lots of NC scenes, I 100% recommend you give this a go.

66. Wandee Goodday
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Whoever decided to pair Great and Inn up in a BL series knew EXACTLY what they were doing and deserves a raise. Although this is yet another drama that started amazingly but fell off slightly, I’m not mad about it overall; this series delivered so many amazing pairings and messages that I loved it so much!!!! This series is about Dr. Wandee, an orthopaedic surgeon who finally decides to confess to his crush of seven years, Ter, but was brutally rejected. Wandee decides to go out with his friend Kao, get drunk, and have a one-night stand. Although Kao is asexual, he agrees to join him. There he meets Yoryak, a Muay Thai boxer, and attempts to seduce him. The two go back to Wandee’s place and sleep together, agreeing for this to be the only time, but after Yoryak coincidentally sees Dr. Wandee for his shoulder injury, the two begin a friends with benefits relationship. This is when an opportunity is presented to both Ter and Wandee; one of them has the opportunity to further their studies abroad, but Ter uses Wandee’s feelings for him to try and get him to back out of the competition. Wandee asks Yoryak to pretend to be his boyfriend so that Ter will believe Wandee has lost all feelings for him and will stop trying to manipulate him. In this game of fake lovers who sleep together, how long will it take until this fake love turns to real love? Wandee also decides to join Yoryak’s boxing gym owned by his brother Oyei and his boyfriend Cher. But unbeknownst to the others, Oyei is in a lot of debt to creditors that may try to take his gym away but refuses to let anyone help. Will Cher and Yoryak be able to step in and help before it is too late? This was genuinely an amazing series; so many important topics, such as asexuality, safe sex, STDs, and vaccinations were brought up very accurately and respectfully. I loved this series so much, and I can’t wait for more GreatInn (and hopefully ThorFluke) series in the future!

67. Adrenalina de Cores
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
This is easily one of the best Korean BL series I’ve ever watched, specifically due to the interesting and unique plot and style. This series is about Yeon Woo, who is a ‘mono,’ someone that only sees the world in black and white. One day when he starts a new school, he meets Yoo Han, his ‘probe.’ A probe is someone that allows a mono to see colour when looking at their face. Each mono has a unique probe out there, and because of this, many monos have been known to kidnap and kill their probes out of paranoia that they will leave them. However, Yoo Han also has a condition known as prosopagnosia, the inability to see and identify faces, yet when he meets Yeon Woo, he is somehow able to see his face. However, when Yeon Woo begins to have terrifying thoughts of kidnapping Yoo Han, what will happen to them? Will they be torn apart, or can Yoo Han help Yeon Woo before it’s too late? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: why aren’t there more soulmate AUs in the BL industry?? There’s so much that can be done with the concept of soulmates; it’s such an interesting and unique theme. This series was so good, with great acting and chemistry but the plot was definitely the highlight and I can guarantee I’ll be rewatching this many times. Although the sequel was absolutely terrible, I still highly recommend watching this series, and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.

68. Minha Confusão de Amor!
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
As a manga reader, I can’t tell you how excited I was for this series, and it didn’t let me down. This series is based on the popular Yaoi manga of the same name, the story of Aoki, who has a crush on his classmate named Hashimoto. One day he borrows an eraser from her and is shocked to discover she had written the name “Ida” on her eraser, symbolising her crush on their classmate, the boy who sits in front of Aoki. When Aoki accidentally drops the eraser in his shock, Ida picks it up and mistakes the eraser for being Aoki’s, believing Aoki has a crush on him. Aoki, still with strong feelings for Hashimoto, tells Ida the eraser is his to spare Hashimoto the embarrassment of her secret crush being revealed in this way. However, Ida doesn’t immediately reject Aoki’s supposed feelings and asks if he can have some time to think on his feelings and give Aoki an answer. Moved by Ida’s sincerity, Aoki begins to develop real feelings for Ida but worries that even if Ida felt the same way, they are both guys. Would they ever be able to have a relationship outside of the “norm”? This was an incredible adaptation! The actors look exactly like the manga characters, and the storyline was fairly close to the original. The chemistry and acting were amazing, and I’m so impressed by this. It was romantic and heartfelt, yet hilarious and sweet at the same time. Overall, I’m so happy with this adaptation; it was very enjoyable, and I highly recommend it!

69. City of Stars
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
If you were to ask me what is a BL that I believe every BL fan should watch at least once, this would definitely be one of my go-to answers. I loved this BL so much, and it had such an important message that I’m shocked more people didn’t love it like I did. This series is about Fueangnakorn, a famous actor who suffered a bad scandal after he was unknowingly filmed while undressing. He disappears off of all social media until one day he joins a new app called Zendaya. Zendaya is a social network where you can only leave positive messages and comments. All posts are carefully monitored, and any negativity is deleted immediately. Krommatha works for the Zendaya app in America, and his job becomes much harder after Fueang joins that app, since there are many more negative comments left under Fueang’s posts that he has to monitor and delete. What he didn’t expect is that after returning to Thailand to visit his parents, his new neighbour is none other than Fueang. The two of them spend a lot of time together as Krom re-evaluates his past assumptions about Fueang. In time, their relationship begins to develop, but can Fueang’s fans accept that he is in a relationship with a non-celebrity, and that non-celebrity happens to be a man? Meanwhile, Kodit is another actor and Fueang’s close friend who is heavily shipped with Fueang by fans. He was once in a past controversy after dating an openly transgender woman, Namsom, and now he goes around sleeping with any woman he can in order to forget his heartbreak after Namsom broke up with him. Will Kodit and Namsom be able to rekindle their relationship, and can fans accept this relationship, or will he have to sacrifice his career for his love? This was so great; the acting and chemistry were amazing, but the plot was the best part. I love how well the trans and queer representation was presented. This is absolutely a must-watch, and I beg all BL fans to watch this and take the message to heart!

70. You Are My Soulmate
Thai Special - 2023, 2 episodes
This was so cute and wholesome; I loved it so much, and I just wish they could have made this into a full-length series. This series is part of My Universe the series, which features 12 mini stories all 2 episodes long about different characters and stories. In this series we meet Butr, whose mother is a fortune teller. A long time ago, she gave him a prophecy that the first person he coincidentally meets on three separate occasions will be his soulmate. Butr believes in this fate, which is why he goes out of his way to avoid bumping into anyone three times, which becomes difficult after he starts being chased by Fong. One day, while running away from Fong’s advances, he hides behind a pillar and ends up bumping into Korn. Korn is friends with Butr’s senior, Mok, and is known to be rather standoffish, never getting close to anyone. Butr can’t stop thinking about Korn, and while working, he ends up meeting Korn again. He realises that he wants Korn to be his soulmate, so he decides to find ways for them to coincidentally meet so that the prophecy can be fulfilled. But is there any need for fate to change their futures after the object of his affections, Korn, feels exactly the same way that Butr does? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, soulmate AUs will always be my favourite trope in BL’s, and it’s so unfair that there aren’t more soulmate BL’s out there. Despite there being a few plot holes, the acting, chemistry, and plot were amazing, and I loved this so much. There were some scenes that genuinely made my heart flutter. Despite its short run time, I can’t recommend this enough; it’s so amazing and heartwarming, and I just loved it!!!!! If you have any interest in soulmates, then this is absolutely a must-watch. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

71. Meu Meteorologista Pessoal
Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
I did not expect to enjoy this series as much as I did, but wow! I can’t put into words how good this was; everything from the acting to the cinematography to the chemistry was on point! This series is about Yoh, a manga artist known for drawing erotic manga. His dream was always to become a manga artist, but unfortunately this career doesn’t pay well. Back in high school he became friends with Segasaki, a man who later went on to become a popular weather forecaster. Segasaki made Yoh an offer: Yoh could live with Segasaki for free, no need to pay for rent, gas, electricity, or food. Segasaki would pay for everything. In return for this, Yoh must obey Segasaki’s every command. Yoh did all the housework, including the cooking and cleaning, during the day, while at night the two would constantly sleep together. Will this relationship be stuck as “friends with benefits” or will the two be able to confront the rising feelings between them and accept that the tension between them has always been love? This was such a good series; my only complaint was that it was way too short. By the time we got through the intro and outro, there were probably only 15 minutes of plot each episode. It was a great series, but I wish we got to see more from them. That’s really my main complaint; other than that, I really enjoyed this series and would definitely recommend it as a quick and steamy BL to watch in your free time.

72. We Are
Thai Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this series, but surprisingly I really loved it! I’m so glad that AouBoom received so much love and recognition. I’ve loved them since Vice Versa, so seeing how popular they’ve become made me so happy!!! This series focuses on the lives and relationships of four couples from two friendship groups. Peem, Q, Tan, Chain, and Pun have been friends for many years now, often having sleepovers at Peem’s house. Meanwhile, Tan is also friends with his classmates Phum, Mick, Beer, and Phum’s older brother Fang. These groups are occasionally joined by Toey and Matt, Peem’s juniors in the art department. Peem and Phum first meet after Phum accidentally ruins Peem’s painting that he was about to submit for display in a gallery. Angry, he kicks Phum in the lower regions before running off, but Phum tracks him down and forces him to either pay off his medical bills or be his slave until Peem’s new painting is finished. This rivalry/hatred soon turns into something more as they spend a lot of time together. At the same time Tan asks for Phum’s help so he can flirt with his brother Fang, Phum reluctantly agrees to help set them up as Tan declares his intention to make Fang his boyfriend. While this is happening, Toey is trying to spend a lot of time with Q, who is his peer mentor. What Q doesn’t know is that Toey has had a crush on him for years now but doesn’t know how to confess without ruining their friendship. With the help of Chain, Toey and Chain plan to fake date to bring out Q’s jealous side. Although Chain agrees with this plan, he is also dealing with a long-time, one-sided love with his childhood friend Pun. Between these four couples, will things work out for them in the end, or is their love destined to fail? This was a long but cute series, definitely not the best BL of 2024 but one I hold close to my heart. I really hope GMMTV gives AouBoom their own BL soon; they definitely deserve it!

73. KISEKI: DEAR TO ME
Taiwanese Drama - 2023, 13 episodes
Now look, I love my mafia BL’s, and I knew from the start I was going to enjoy this. Gang related series are always very interesting, and this was definitely no exception. This series is about Bai Zhongyi, a student dreaming of one day becoming a doctor. One day, walking home from school, he runs into the injured gangster Fan Ze Rui, who shoves a knife in his hand and tells him if he doesn’t help him, he will be arrested for murder as his fingerprints are now on a murder weapon. Zhongyi has no choice and takes him in and patches him up. Ze Rui decides to stay in Zhongyi’s apartment while his subordinates look for the people responsible for attacking him. After they are caught, he leaves, but they meet again when Ze Rui takes an undercover job as a substitute teacher at Zhongyi’s school. They pretend they don’t know each other on school property but outside begin a secret relationship. However, after they are captured and attacked by another gang, causing Ze Rui to kill the leader in self-defence, Zhongyi is charged with the gangster’s death and sent to prison, while Ze Rui sustains a head injury and loses his memory. When Zhongyi gets out of prison, will he and Ze Rui be able to reunite, and will Ze Rui recognise him when they do? I’ll start with my main complaint, which was that the age gap between the couple (a 17-year-old and a 25-year-old) was honestly a little creepy to me. Ignoring that, the chemistry between both the main and side couples was incredible, the acting was great, and the plot was very interesting. This was such a good series and really enjoyable; I highly recommend it if you want an action-packed, steamy romance to enjoy.

74. Papa and Daddy
Taiwanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
Wow, although I know that there have been various BL series where the couple adopts a son, this series took that theme to another level. This series is about a couple, Jerry and Damian, who adopt a son named Kai. It focuses on the hardships between them being a gay couple with a son. I think it’s important that this is a Taiwanese series, as Taiwan is the first and (at the time it was filmed) only Asian country to legalise same-sex marriage and allow partial adoption for same-sex couples. This series deals with some serious and prevalent issues that, unfortunately, many queer couples still face to this day, including homophobia, child bullying, and adoption as prime examples of this. I’m really happy to see LGBTQ+ dramas portray such realistic aspects of gay relationships, such as societal pressure, and I love that they dug deep into Kai’s confusion with having 2 dads instead of a mum and a dad, because it really exposes the heteronormative society we still live in. Episode 5 was by far my favourite because it does such an amazing job in presenting the fear of coming out, especially to conservative parents, which I’ve definitely had a lot of experience with. It was so heartwarming that their love could be accepted, and I nearly cried at the final scene. Unfortunately, the ending of episode 6 was when everything went downhill, and they left it with a cliffhanger, so if you do decide to watch this series, you’ll definitely want to watch season 2 afterwards!

75. Fourever You Project
Thai Drama - 2024, 17 episodes
This might just be the cutest and most heartwarming series I’ve ever watched. Although this series had a lot of criticism due to the unfair screen time distribution, I genuinely loved both couples so much, and I cannot recommend this series enough! This series focuses on two couples; the first one is Hill and Easter. Easter moves to the north of Thailand for university to study veterinary medicine, alongside his roommate North. He hopes that this fresh start will allow him to forget his past lover, Hill, who disappeared from his life and abandoned him after their families found out about their relationship. Ter ends up volunteering to help with an event where he ends up meeting Hill again, who is his senior as a med student. Ter refuses to be around him, believing if he lets Hill back in, he will just leave him again. But will this be Hill’s chance to make up for the past and finally tell Ter the reason he left all those years ago? As Ter and Hill repair their relationship, Hill asked his close friend Johan to bring something to Ter, but he was not the one who greeted Johan at the door; instead, it was North, and the boy Johan has had a crush on for the past three years. North is a poor and clumsy boy who is forced to work multiple jobs in order to pay his rent, but while working, his managers and coworkers are all pursuing him. Johan is the complete opposite of North; he is rich and successful, only studying medicine because his parents wanted him to. Will Johan finally have the chance to pursue the boy who has never left his thoughts even after all these years? Will each of these couples have the chance to be with the person they love? This was ADORABLE! The acting was fantastic, the chemistry between both couples, particularly JohanNorth, was amazing, and the cinematography was beautiful. Although HillTer definitely had too much screen time, I loved them just as much as JohanNorth, and I’m already so excited for season 2. I highly recommend this!

76. YYY
Thai Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
This is easily the funniest BL series I’ve ever watched; it was both so comedic and hilarious that I was crying from laughter, but it also had some very sweet and heartwarming moments that made me very invested in the main couple’s relationship. This series is about Nott, a handsome mechanic who lives in an all-boys apartment owned by Porpla, the cross-dressing yaoi-fan owner. One day, one of Nott's inventions causes an electrical fire, destroying Porpla’s collection of Yaoi DVDs and BL merch. Once she finds out who was responsible for the fire, she gets angry and decides to kick him out when Pun, an internet-famous celebrity, arrives, seeking a room to rent. Knowing about Porpla‘s interest in BL series, Nott asks Pun to help him stay in the apartment and not be kicked out by pretending to be his boyfriend! Pun, needing a place to stay, accepts the proposal and pretends to be Nott’s boyfriend. But as time passes, the two can’t help but eventually fall for each other. What will come from this romance? I loved all the cast members, and despite being a sitcom, the relationship dynamics were really good! If you’re interested in comedy and want to watch a series that will make you cry with laughter, I definitely recommend this one.

77. The Heart Killers
Thai Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Although I did enjoy this series a lot, I will admit that my expectations were so high that, unfortunately, this series didn’t live up to them. I love a good comedic BL, but GMMTV seems to constantly lean into a more rom-com style for any BL’s that have serious and darker themes, and I’m starting to get a little sick of it. Sometimes I just want to watch a darker and depressing series without all the unnecessary comedic elements! This series is about Kant, a former carjacker who is forced to occasionally work with the police in order to get his criminal record buried. One day he has a one-night stand with Bison, who he later discovers is a hitman. Kant is forced to befriend Bison and find some incriminating evidence that may lead him back to the person Bison works for. He decides the best way to do this is by seducing Bison and becoming his boyfriend, but in order to do this he must get past Bison’s protective older brother and fellow hitman, Fadel. Kant recruits his old friend Style to make Fadel fall in love with him so Fadel can focus more on Style than on his younger brother’s dating life. Now Kant and Style are in a dangerous predicament; if Bison and Fadel find out what they’re doing, they will definitely be killed, but if they back out, Kant will go to prison and leave his younger brother, Babe, alone. Will Bison and Fadel discover Kant’s plan, or will their goal of infiltration be successful, meaning Bison and Fadel will be sent to jail? This could have been an incredible series; it even had the potential to become GMMTV’s best BL series. Unfortunately, while I did still love and enjoy this series, the comedy and certain aspects of the plot set this series back for me. The best part was Dunk as Style. I’m so impressed with how his acting has improved, and I loved his character so much. The acting and chemistry were by far the best part of this series and, despite my negativity, I do still think this series is a must-watch.

78. Paixão secreta por você
Thai Drama - 2022, 14 episodes
My honest reaction to this series is, if you can make it through the cringe and secondhand embarrassment this series will give, you can make it through anything. This series is about a boy named Toh who has a crush on his senior Nuea. As he believes his love will never come true, he settles by stalking Nuea and collecting several items of his to keep as a reminder of his love (used drink cans, napkins, etc.). However, what happens when Nuea is aware of Toh’s feelings all along, even reciprocating them? Will their love story come true, or will it remain nothing more than a secret crush? Meanwhile, Toh’s best friend Jao and Neua’s best friend Sky have been growing close as Sky flirts with Jao, attempting to make Jao fall for him. Alongside Jao, their friend Daisy, a transgender woman, begins talking to another of Neua’s friends named Intouch. Toh suffers from his own insecurities, Jao has serious body image issues, and Daisy is dealing with her own dysphoria and the transphobia of those around her. Can their partners help them see the good in themselves and learn to love themselves for who they are? This series is so cringeworthy it took a very long time to make it through, but if you are able to look past the second-hand embarrassment, this is a beautiful coming-of-age story dealing with several serious and important issues such as homophobia, transphobia, bullying, body image issues (particularly concerning weight and appearance), and unlearning insecurities. After the first 4 episodes, this series became a must-watch, and I can’t recommend this series enough.

79. Não Me Abandone Jamais
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
I actually loved this series a lot, which isn’t a huge shock considering Boss x Bodyguard is one of my favourite tropes, and I already know Pond and Phuwin have amazing chemistry together. I think I was expecting it to not be very good, as some of the reviews weren’t super positive, but this is MDL, and everyone seems to be super negative on here lmao. This drama is about Neungdiao, heir to a successful company that has led to him becoming isolated and looked down upon by his peers for his family’s wealth. On his 18th birthday, his father is shot and killed, leaving him and his mother, Thanya, to take over the company. Neung’s uncle doesn’t like that he won’t get to take over the company, so Thanya assigns her assistant’s son Palm to act as Neung’s bodyguard both around home and school, fearing for her son’s life. When someone threatens Thanya and Neung’s lives, Palm takes Neung and runs away with him until it is safe for them to return home. In this time, Neung and Palm become closer and agree to date at least until they can return home, back to normality. What happens when they do return? Will they go back to being a boss and his bodyguard, or will the feelings they developed cause them to stay together permanently? I honestly really enjoyed this series; it was a little slow at times, and I wasn’t completely satisfied by the ending, but I thought it was generally great. PondPhuwin have amazing chemistry, and mafia-related series are some of my favourite themes, especially in BL’s. I would definitely recommend this if you’re also interested in action-packed, romantic BL’s like me.

80. 2 Worlds
Thai Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
This is such an over-hated series, and it’s so frustrating because MaxNat has incredible chemistry, but unfortunately people seem to have a problem with all of their series. This is about Kram, a boy living in a small village who meets Phupha, a friend of his father, who comes to stay with them for a while. Kram and Phupha slowly fall in love, but one day Phupha is targeted by Tai, the son of a vicious gang leader. After Kram finds Phupha dead, he travels to a small lake, remembering the legend that when the water in the lake turns blue and glows, it will allow the person in the water to transport to a parallel universe. Kram enters the lake and is transported to this new world and discovers one key problem. The Kram in this parallel world has already died, and Kram’s ex-boyfriend is none other than Tai, the man who killed Phupha in his own world. But this version of Tai is nothing like his own; he is gentle, sweet, and protective of Kram. Kram decides to seek out Phupha in this new world and save his life here, enlisting Tai for his help. However, as he slowly learns more about this parallel world and the people living in it, he loses his desire to return back to his own world, wanting to stay with Tai, who he has begun to fall for. Will Kram choose to stay with Tai in this new world, or will he manage to convince the alive Phupha to return to Kram’s world, a world in which he has already died? Who will Kram choose in the end? I promise the plot is easier to follow when you’re actually watching the series, but I know trying to describe it is very complicated. MaxNat and also GunNat had incredible chemistry; the plot and acting were just amazing, and the cinematography was stunning. Please don’t listen to the haters and critiques, and I hope you’ll watch this and judge it for yourself!

81. HIStory2: Cruzando a Linha
Taiwanese Special - 2018, 8 episodes
This is definitely my second favourite BL in the HIStory series and such a sweet breath of fresh air. This series is about a boy called Qiu Zi Xuan, who was an amazing volleyball player before unfortunately being badly injured. Due to this, he is warned not to play again for the risk of worsening his injuries, so he continues to help the volleyball club now as a manager. There he meets Xia Yu Hao, a guy with a very bad temper who was forced to join the club after losing a bet. When he finds out about Zi Xuan’s injuries, he decides that he will fulfil Zi Xuan’s dream to rise to the top in his place, and eventually feelings between them develop in the process. We also focus on Yu Hao’s friends, Wang Zhen Wu and his stepbrother Wang Zhen Wen. We discover that they both have feelings for each other but are too afraid to act on it because of their family connections. This is generally a really cute and funny series; the main and side couples are adorable with great chemistry. There is some good action and sound effects, and the volleyball playing is fun and looks very professional and realistic. My only complaint with this and all the series in HIStory is that I wish they were all a bit longer, but luckily they have announced a sequel movie, which may or may not be happening (keeping an eye out, but I’m not very optimistic). Aside from that, I highly recommend this series!

82. Nossa Simulação de Namoro
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
In the past two years I’ve noticed that Korean BL’s have seriously been stepping up their game, but it seems 2023 has been on a whole other level. This series is about Lee Wan, who has had a crush on his classmate, Shin Ki Tae, for a long time. He finally decides to confess to him on the final day of school and kisses him but is too terrified to hear Ki Tae’s rejection and runs away before he can respond. Years later, Lee Wan attends an interview as an artist for a gaming company where he meets Ki Tae again, who will now become one of his new coworkers. Lee Wan believes Ki Tae doesn’t remember him, so he decides to accept the position. However, what will happen when Ki Tae not only recognises Lee Wan but has spent years searching for him so he can finally respond to Lee Wan’s high school confession? I honestly loved this series a lot; the best way to describe it is short and sweet. Although the pacing is a little slow with a very short run time, it’s still a very easy series to follow and get through. The chemistry between the main leads is perfect, and the acting was great too. I hope to see them in a potential season 2 someday and definitely recommend this series if you want to watch something shorter but still cute and romantic.

83. Pit Stop do Coração
Thai Drama - 2023, 13 episodes
I feel empty without having this drama to fill my Fridays now. This series was amazing, not necessarily because of the plot, acting, or direction, but because of how this made me feel. This definitely wasn’t perfect, and even though it was 13 episodes, it still felt far too short, but I loved it with all my heart. This series is based on an omegaverse novel surrounding Babe, a racer on the X-Hunter team known as Pit Babe or “King of The Hollow,” who happens to be a special alpha with heightened senses. One day, after a race, he meets a fanboy called Charlie who is also an alpha and requests Babe’s help in learning how to drive and race professionally. Babe realises that Charlie’s pheromones have no scent, so agrees on the condition that they would become friends with benefits. Babe brings Charlie to meet the rest of his team and is introduced to X-Hunters manager Alan, the second-best racer Way, and the junior racers North, Sonic, and Dean. What Babe doesn’t know, however, is that Charlie has a secret motive in getting close to Babe and secretly invites his younger brother Jeff to pose as a mechanic. Jeff is an omega (not mentioned in the series) who quickly catches the eye of Alan, and the 35-year-old alpha is immediately drawn to the 20-year-old. Can Charlie and Jeff still fulfil their plan even when they’re falling in love with the very people they are supposed to betray? This was an amazing series and the first live adaptation I’ve ever seen for an omegaverse, especially with an alphaXalpha main pairing. My only complaint is that we were promised 6 couples (CharlieBabe, AlanJeff, PeteWay, SonicNorth, KentaKim, and WinnerDean) yet only got 2 with 1 being implied but not going anywhere, which was very disappointing. Aside from that I, cannot recommend this series enough; it’s definitely a must-watch!

84. O Detetive da Dinastia Ming
Chinese Drama - 2020, 48 episodes
This is another Chinese bromance with a pretty long run time. When I started this, I was not expecting it to have so many episodes, but it is adapted from a BL novel, which is a shame, as this could have been a fantastic BL, but sadly censorship bans are very annoying and problematic. This is about Tan Fang, a sixth-rank official, and Sui Zhou, a uniformed guard. The two join forces to solve a case, becoming unlikely friends in the process. After Tan Fang’s landlord is found dead, he moves in with Sui Zhou while trying to solve this big case. It’s then that they meet Wang Zhi (my favourite character), who is a eunuch serving the king and queen. The three of them constantly team up to solve multiple different cases together throughout this series and help each other out when in need. As the story goes on, they must tackle each obstacle while needing to have trust and faith in each other. They must try to save many lives, including the Kings, after it becomes threatened by corrupt officials. In the beginning, this series was (a little) boring for me, but it quickly picked up and became so much better than I ever could have expected. The only reason it’s not higher up on my list is because at times the plot became quite basic and boring. But aside from that, everything else about this series, including the acting and cinematography, were so good; it made me laugh so much and cry just as often. Despite how long it was, I really hope they make a season 2 and definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of historical bromances!

85. Boys' Lockdown
Filipino Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
I never really see people talking about this drama, which is so sad because it’s such an amazing Filipino BL series and one of my favourites that took place during the Covid lockdown. This series is about Key, who lives in an apartment complex where you need a quarantine pass to leave the building and go shopping. One day he goes to the pharmacy and meets Chen, who he accidentally bumps into and causes them both to drop their items. Key accidentally mixes up their belongings and takes one of Chen’s pill packages. A week later they run into each other again and exchange numbers so Key can return Chen’s medicine. When they arrange to meet up again, Key is unable to get the quarantine pass and can’t leave. In that time he discovers that Chen is actually the famous uptiker (I’m guessing that’s a copyright version of TikToker) going by the name of CCStrng that Key has been following for years and has developed a huge crush on. With this revelation, he goes to find Chen and asks him if it’s true, but what happens when he finds out that not only is this true, but Chen has also developed feelings for Key, the cute masked boy he met in the shop whose face he still hasn’t seen? This was such a sweet and light-hearted drama, and I’m so glad I watched it. Although it’s fairly short, and I don’t think we had enough romantic moments between them, I would still definitely recommend watching this. I’m still hoping they’ll make a season 2 someday even though it was unfortunately cancelled as the company funding its production pulled out!!

86. Proposta Perfeita
Japanese Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
A simple but cute story of an old love being reunited. This series is about Hiro, an office worker who is overworked and stressed from being handed several projects with tight deadlines that he barely has time to eat proper meals and sleep comfortably. After he passes out on the street in exhaustion, he is reunited with Kai, an old childhood friend of his he forgot about. Kai mentions how he had been looking for Hiro due to a promise they made when they were children, that if neither of them were married by the time they reached a certain age, then they would marry each other. Kai convinces Hiro to let him move in, taking care of the household chores, including cooking and cleaning, and helping Hiro relax and de-stress after work. However, Kai is insistent that they are engaged, and Hiro does not know how to handle his advances. Will their childhood promise come true? Will they fall in love and someday marry each other, or will Hiro eventually ask Kai to leave and reject their old promise? This was a short but sweet series, and I enjoyed it a lot. The plot was fairly simple but interesting, the acting was great, and the chemistry was adorable. This is definitely a series I’ll come back to and rewatch again, so I recommend this to anyone wanting a short but cute series to watch in their free time!

87. Amor Venenoso
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this as much as I did, but it was such a fun storyline and a great romance that every episode ended up hooking me further in. This series is about a lawyer named Ryoma, who happens to be the younger partner of a larger law firm and has challenged himself to one day become the youngest owner of his own law firm and maintain a perfect winning case record. One day at a bar he meets Haruto, an intelligent and talented conman who offers to help Ryoma get more information to win his cases by going undercover. Ryoma makes Haruto his new partner at the firm despite him not being a lawyer or ever studying law. But Haruto is hiding a lot about his past from Ryoma, including a criminal history. When Ryoma is tasked with representing a client who is suing a large operation run by Haruto’s biological father, will this be Ryoma’s chance to finally prove himself, or will he be forced to choose between his work life and his love life? What decision will Ryoma make? This was so fun, the acting was amazing, the main couple had fantastic and natural chemistry, the plot was really interesting with some hilarious moments that made my stomach hurt from how much I was laughing, and even the pacing was great. I would have honestly been willing to watch 100 more episodes of just Ryoma and Haruto solving cases and flirting with each other. This was so funny and sweet; I can’t recommend this enough! I just wish it could have been longer because 12 episodes that were only 20 minutes long just wasn’t enough, I need moreeeee!!!

88. The Boy Next World
Thai Drama - 2025, 10 episodes
An interesting concept with fantastic chemistry, but pretty poor execution. This could have easily been in my top 10 BL’s if Mame wasn’t so used to writing really bad scripts, but unfortunately she seems to prioritise NC scenes and unhealthy relationships above all else. This series is about Phugun, an innocent boy who has never dated anyone and always sees the best in people. One day Cirrus, who had just been involved in a serious car accident, knocks on his door and tells Phu that he is from a parallel universe where Phu and Cir had been dating ever since their school years. At first Phu does not believe Cir, but the more information he reveals about Phu, including his childhood and little pieces of information that he could not have known about, Phu finally decides to believe him. Phu decides to help Cir get back to his own universe, but what if the idea of parallel worlds works differently than what Cirrus or Phugun could have ever imagined? Is Cirrus really from a parallel world, and if he isn’t, do parallel worlds really exist? The concept of this series is so interesting and unique; I loved how they mixed the fantasy and supernatural elements with reality. This is one of those series where you think you know what’s happening and where the plot is going, until one explanation completely changes all your theories. This is set in the same universe as TharnType the series, where you may recognise Phugun as being Tharn’s cousin in 7 Years of Love. BossNoeul’s chemistry was absolutely insane; they have such an amazing connection, and I just wish they could be given better scripts. I feel like I’m generally done with Mame as a writer; her scripts, stories, and series always have so much potential, but she ends up always going down the toxic couples route, which makes no sense!!! Overall, I don’t regret watching this series, and I still recommend watching it, but it’s not a series I can see myself coming back to, which makes me sad to say.

89. Vida - Amor em Jogo
Japanese Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
This series made my heart break; although it’s short, it’s very powerful. This is about two schoolboys, Akira and Yuuki, who meet while following the white lines on the road. They grow closer with their childish fantasies as they meet every day at the line. However, when Akira kisses Yuuki, they need to learn how to walk the line together. This follows their relationship as time goes on, from 16 all the way until they’re 40. Although their relationship isn’t defined as normal by societal standards, which leads to a large strain in their relationship, the love they feel can overcome any obstacles they face, even after 10 years apart. Their chemistry was overwhelming, and I was so excited to see Wayne Song and Huang Juan Zhi from HIStory: MODC in the last episode. This series made me both happy and heartbroken. I didn’t like how they chose to take their relationship, but I can’t deny just how realistic this feels. This is a story of two very real people living in a conservative, heteronormative society. I will say this series overall was amazing, but I don’t know if I could ever go back and rewatch it again.

90. Onde Seus Olhos se Prolongam
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
I’ve found that recently Korean BL’s have really stepped up their game, but this series is an amazing throwback. In my opinion, this was the point where BL’s in Korea really began to change and take off, which is why I hold this series very close to my heart. This is a drama about Han Tae Joo, an 18-year-old student who is the successor to the TB Group, a company run by his father. He has a wealthy family, good looks, and is very popular. He also has Gang Gook, his childhood friend and bodyguard, who is very strong, skilled, and trained in various martial art techniques. Tae Joo is Gang Gook’s only friend, someone who he trusts and feels at ease around. But when a new female student, Hye Mi, shows interest in Gang Gook and asks him out on a date, Tae Joo is irritated and jealous. Will Tae Joo realise these feelings for Gang Gook are romantic before he enters a relationship, or will he be too late to realise his feelings? Also, will Gang Gook accept Hye Mi’s feelings, or is there already someone else in his heart? This is a fantastic series. I still can’t believe that they had such great chemistry together, specifically at a time when BL’s were looked down upon by Korean society. This is such an amazing and realistic series; I highly recommend it!!

91. Avançar Bravamente
Chinese Drama - 2017, 30 episodes
This is unfortunately another Bromance series that was adapted from a BL novel that I have read and really enjoyed. This is about a boxer called Xia Yao, who ends up attracting the attention of a girl named Yuan Ru. She tries to always be around him and sends her brother, Yuan Zong, to deliver him gifts, keep an eye on him, and try to make Xia Yao fall in love with her. This backfires completely when Xia Yao and Yuan Zong begin to feel something more than just friendship between them. Yuan Zong is a former soldier who now runs a military boot camp that Xia Yao ends up joining. Yuan Zong secretly takes care of him, bringing him snacks and paying close attention to him. Now, unlike the novel, Yuan Zong and Xia Yao are just shown to be two very close friends in this series, but at the same time, you can tell there is more than just friendly feelings between them. The actors chosen were perfect, and the production is amazing. I have rewatched this so many times!! We also have two side “couples,” which, like the main couple, are together in the novel but just friends with very little screen time in this, but thankfully we were lucky enough to still have one of the characters confirm they are gay in this series. But please don’t let this series being a bromance stop you from enjoying it to its fullest; I highly recommend this!!

92. This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans
Thai Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
I actually came into this series with really low expectations, but I was really surprised at how good this ended up being. This series is about Plawan, a model and food blogger who one day is thrown out of a famous restaurant since they don’t allow filming there. This restaurant is owned by Chef Oab, a strict and cruel chef, who is a widely renowned chef who refuses to cook anything containing long beans. This is because his ex-girlfriend, the woman he thought he would spend his life with, is allergic to long beans. Meanwhile, a rich businessman named Methas is trying to buy this restaurant as part of a real estate project. Oab refuses to sell his restaurant and decides to hold a competition to find the next great chef who he will pass the restaurant on to. Methas decides to hire someone to secretly enter the competition and win so he can buy the restaurant rights off of them. Despite not being able to cook, Plawan is still angry about being thrown out and decides to join Methas by infiltrating the competition and winning, despite his best friend, JJ, reminding him that this is a terrible idea. JJ is a life coach who is trained in helping people through physiotherapy, and when Methas gets into an accident, JJ is the one sent to help him recover. These two best friends must now work for two people who seem to hate them. Plawan manages to make it through the competition through sheer luck, but as he grows closer to Oab, he realises the angry mask he puts on is just a persona, not the real him. As JJ grows closer to Methas, he realises that Methas throws money at people because it’s the only way he knows to make people stay. Will these two love stories work out despite the secrets and false intentions each character is hiding? I really enjoyed this; the acting and chemistry were both fantastic. My only complaint was the slow pacing dragged the series out a little. I still definitely recommend this series, but be warned you may be fast forwarding a lot of this.

93. Sr. Coração
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
This was such a sweet series; I really fell in love with it, which I did not expect. This is about a marathon runner named Jin Won, who once was known as one of the top runners, a record breaker who always took home gold. But since starting university, he hasn’t completed a single marathon. While training, he meets Sang Ha, a freshman hoping to become his new pacemaker, someone who runs by his side and encourages him. Although Jin Won originally believed he didn’t need a pacemaker and tried to ignore him, after seeing Sang Ha in action, he decided to accept the offer. As they spend time together, Jin Won finds out that Sang Ha has been crushing on him for a while, and he starts to feel confused about his own feelings. But what happens when Sang Ha is being followed by debt collectors after owing a lot of money? Will something bad happen to him before Jin Won can confess? This series was one of the first BL’s I’d ever seen with a very confident, gay character. The queer representation and the relationship between the leads were actually incredibly sweet, healthy and very well done. I’m very happy to have watched this series, and would definitely recommend it!

94. No ar Um Homem Que Desafia O Mundo de BL 2
Japanese Special - 2022, 1 episode
I love this show so much; it is absolutely hilarious and chaotic! This was the second season of Zettai BL, otherwise known as The World Where Everything Definitely Becomes BL vs The Man Who Definitely Doesn’t Want To Be In A BL (by the way, amazing name for a BL series), which was already one of my favourite comedy BL series so far. In my opinion, this season wasn’t as good as the first season, but despite that I still really enjoyed it. At the end of season 1 (spoiler alert!!), we saw that Mobu had begun to develop feelings for Kikuchi, but in this season we saw the return of Kikuchi’s ex-boyfriend, disturbing Mobu’s love life and bringing him back to square one. With this situation, he once again returns to being the background character and avoiding all the BL troops found in his everyday life. This season follows a similar route as the first and was still just as hilarious as I expected it to be. The acting and humour are definitely my favourite parts of this series, alongside the amazing OST. It’s such a fun series, and if you loved season 1 just as much as I did, I'm certain you will enjoy this one too!

95. Método
Korean Movie - 2017
This was an incredibly depressing but amazing and impressive Korean BL movie. At the time this was produced, Korea hadn’t created many BL’s, and several of the ones they already had were clearly low budget with mediocre acting at best, but it seems that whenever they do decide to dip into the BL industry and invest their time, money, and attention into it, they make it good! This movie is about a famous actor called Jae Ha, and idol called Young Woo, who both star in a play about the story of two gay men. In the play, they must act like they are in a relationship, but even when they are outside of the rehearsals, they find something keeps pulling them together. The two begin to mix fiction and reality, seeing the other in a different perspective and beginning a relationship that is neither safe nor healthy, but one they are happy in, at least until they face a rude awakening. Although this movie was a little rushed at times, it’s one I hold very dear to my heart and rewatch at least twice a year. The acting and chemistry were amazing, and the plot was fairly interesting. For a Korean BL released in 2017, this was wonderfully done, and I highly recommend it!

96. Nós Três Sobreviveremos
Thai Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
This is the first Thai polyamory series I’ve ever watched, and possibly one of the best series featuring polyamorous relationships that I’ll ever see. This show was about three main characters. First you have Neo, a stripper who sleeps with various clients for money. After the crime boss Thana discovers his wife Vanika has been sleeping with Neo, he sends out hitmen to kill Neo and bring Vanika to him alive. However, the hitmen accidentally kill Vanika and lose track of Neo in the process, unintentionally allowing him to escape. In his escape, he hides in a bar where he met his old friend, Shin. Shin is openly gay and happens to be Thana’s son. The owner of the bar, Miw, sees the hitmen chase after Neo into the bathroom, and she follows him in there, witnessing the hitman trying to kill Neo. She ends up grabbing his gun and killing him to save Neo and Shin. Now the three of them must escape on the run; nowhere is safe from Thana and his men, and they must use Shin as a willing hostage in order to escape. However, while they are on the run, they have to balance escape with the feelings of love and lust that arise between the three of them. I absolutely loved this show. It was something different and unique, and I couldn’t stop watching it. The representation of polyamorous characters and relationships was really well done; I hope to see similar themes in the future! I couldn’t recommend this enough; the actors were so perfect for these roles, and the director did a fantastic job.

97. Viciado
Chinese Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
If you are a BL fan, then you need to know about this series; this is absolutely a must-watch!!! It’s one of those series that, due to Chinese censorship bans, couldn’t make it into a full BL, but they also significantly passed the censorship bans to the point where the lead actors were actually banned from interacting publicly because of this series. This drama features two boys called Gu Hai and Bai Yuo Lin, who meet after Gu Hai transfers to a new school. At first they have a strong rivalry and dislike each other, but eventually they manage to work past their differences and become fast friends. Yet, as feelings blossom between them, a hidden secret is revealed, which shatters their image of each other and their families, for Gu Hai’s father and Bai Yuo Lin’s mother are getting married, and they will soon become step-brothers. Will their love survive the newly found family ties that threaten to split them apart, or will their love for each other erase all obstacles? This was amazing, and while it is technically a bromance, there is an uncut version of this where the main couple actually kiss quite a few times, and Chinese censorship bans haven’t held it back at all!! I loved this series, and it’s also a very well-known, highly rated one! I would definitely recommend this series; however, it does end on a cliffhanger after the series was cancelled, and there is no chance at all of there being a second season, so the ending isn’t as satisfying as I would have liked. Also, as an extra fun fact, Bai Yuo Lin has a best friend called Yang Meng who is played by an actor called Chen Wen, and I’ve actually met Chen Wen twice, back in 2021 and again in 2022, when I was visiting Thailand <3.

98. Call It What You Want 2
Thai Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
The second season of Call It What You Want, a series that is immensely triggering but has such an important message and storyline. Although opinions are divided over this season, I actually preferred it over season 1, mainly for the MarcoBas storyline. This season focuses on James and Ait after they finally began dating but have to navigate and find a balance between work and love. Meanwhile, Bas is still dealing with the trauma of what his boss Tee did to him and his coworker Kaprao. After Kaprao reveals that Tee SA’d him, he begs Bas to speak up against Tee and fight with him for justice, but Bas is terrified of announcing something like this for the world to hear and refuses. His mental health is deteriorating rapidly, and he looks to Marco to help him cope with his trauma and eventually to help take revenge for him. Along the way, they begin to fall in love, but can Bas get past his trauma of being SA’d by another man enough to let Marco into his heart? I will be honest and admit that the ending was quite rushed, and I did not care for Ait and James’s storyline this season at all, but aside from that, I loved everything about this. Michaels acting was incredible, and he portrayed such dark themes amazingly well. I’m so impressed and happy with this season; the fact that they portrayed these topics both accurately and respectfully is so important to me! I love and appreciate this more than words can say <3.

99. Jazz for Two
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
A series featuring K-Pop idols acting in one of my favourite webtoons without removing the BL aspects? Sign me up!!!! This is such a sweet and adorable webtoon, and I was so excited to see it was getting an adaptation featuring Kim Jin Kwon from Newkidd as Yoon Seheon and Song Han Gyeom from OMEGA X as Seo Doyoon. Jazz for Two focuses on the story of Seheon, who was raised by a father who forces him and his older brother to play classical music on the piano. But Seheon doesn’t like classical music; instead, he has a passion for jazz music. When he transfers to a new school after spending a year homeschooled, he hopes this will be his opportunity to practice playing jazz and immediately sets himself up in a practice room with a piano. His hopes are dashed, however, when he meets Han Taeyi, a boy who hates jazz music after the death of his older brother, who was a master jazz musician. Taeyi immediately dislikes Seheon because he reminds Taeyi of his older brother and vows to stay far away from him. Meanwhile, Taeyi’s best friend Doyoon has had a crush on the school bully Jooha for several years now, but Jooha wants nothing to do with Doyoon because of his friendship with Taeyi, who Jooha hates. When the four of them are put into a group to perform a song as part of their grade, can they get over their differences and fall in love in the process? Will Seheon also be able to convince his father to allow him to follow his ambitions and start learning jazz professionally? This was so sweet, with great acting and chemistry. My only complaint is that it was too short, and I felt like a lot of great scenes in the webtoon were left out; also, the side couple barely had any moments. Aside from that, this was a fantastic adaptation, and I loved it a lot!

100. Men with Sword 2
Chinese Drama - 2017, 30 episodes
I’ve ranked this slightly higher than the first season because I thought this was much better than its prequel. This continues from where season 1 left off. After Tianji is destroyed by the new Kingdom of Nansu, King Yu Qing is attacked by his own brother, Yu Xiao, who is upset that he has constantly neglected the citizens needs and well-being. After his attack, he is sentenced to death but later saved by Murong Li, who hides him away until the time is right. Finally, when the time comes, Yu Qing is killed, and Yu Xiao steps up as king. Murong Li can finally begin his plan to attack Tianxuan and take back his kingdom, which had previously been destroyed and taken over. As part of this plan, he pretends to have been kidnapped so Nansu and Tianquan will unite and declare war against Tianxuan to save him. By destroying Tianxuan, Li can finally reclaim his homeland. Meanwhile, Zhong Kun Yi is still in hiding but scheming against Li after the death of his close companions. He sets out with one aim: to destroy Yaoguang, Murong Li’s kingdom, and he won’t stop until he succeeds. This season was so much better than the first! There were much better props, budget, scenery, music, and even the outfits were upgraded. I thought that the acting had actually improved slightly as well. I was very happy with how this sequel went and couldn’t recommend it enough! If you liked the first season, then you’ll love this; the only negative is that we’re very unlikely to get a season 3.
