How to Make a Romantic Xianxia: Love Between Fairy and Devil
Are you in the mood to watch a simple and light drama that provides you with smiles and relaxation? Cdrama romance comedies are pros in this area! With dramas about almost all possible topics that one can think of, there are so many Chinese rom-coms to watch that the list seems endless. As a Cdrama rom-com lover myself, I can't help but list a very long list of dramas every time someone asks for recommendations. The majority of Cdrama rom-coms are fairly short, with around 24 episodes that are around 45 minutes, but some are shorter or longer ones. Here is an article recommending Cdrama rom-coms with a diversity of themes and tags.

The " 致我们" Series (Zhi Wo Men) |
These three dramas are all famous in the land of Chinese rom-coms. Why? Because they're simply light and very cute dramas! Adapted from novels written by Zhao Qianqian with the same names, the dramas tell the stories of students in high school and college as they experience friendships, love, and growing up. Their Chinese titles all start with "致我们", which means "To Our." Although these dramas are unique in their own special ways, the themes and cuteness are very similar!
If you enjoyed one of these three dramas, it is highly recommended that you watch the other two.

Most Cdrama school rom-coms are set in high school and even more commonly, college. Dramas set in high school also tend to have a high school to college transition (and sometimes even into work). Most school rom-coms are first love, and romance and friendship are the top genres, as well as school. Some dramas also provide an insight into school life in China, which may be very different from other countries around the world. As my very first Cdrama, My Little Princess was a perfect little introduction to the vast Cdrama world. It's quick and cute! Skate Into Love is another personal favorite. As the second drama in the Honey Trilogy directed by famous director Chu Yui Bun, the drama focuses on three forms of skating: figure skating, ice hockey, and speed skating. (PS. Love is Sweet can be considered to have the "Boss/Employee Relationship") My Little Happiness has one of the best relationships in modern rom-coms, with zero misunderstandings. One of the most popular cliches in Asian drama rom-coms is romance between the CEO and employee. If you're looking for a Cdrama with a female CEO, Begin Again is a great choice (in the Marriage Contract category). The drama is not office, though. It is about the romance between a female CEO and a male doctor. Use For My Talent is the Chinese adaptation of Korean drama Clean With Passion For Now. Miss Crow with Mr. Lizard was a nice watch because in my opinion, the male lead is unlike other CEOs. He is not rude and arrogant to his employees and has reasons for what he does. |

Not much needs to be said. Most of us rom-com lovers are very familiar with marriage contracts. As cliché as they are, some of these rom-coms are very cute and fluffy! Perfect and Casual was a pleasant surprise, and I finished the drama in less than two days. Clichés were flying everywhere, but the drama managed to keep everything in place. You are My Destiny is the Chinese adaption of original Taiwanese drama Fated to Love You, and is also the second lead collaboration between actor Xing Zhaoling and actress Liang Jie, the leads in The Eternal Love. |

Part of my personal favorites list. Not only do these two dramas have cute romance, but I love how family and friendship is portrayed. We can learn many life lessons just from these stories. Le Coup de Foudre is adapted from the Chinese novel "I Don't Like This World, I Only Like You" by Qiao Yi, which is a book about the true love story of Qiao Yi and her husband. The drama focuses on family, friendship, and romance, with possibly some of the strongest friendships I have ever seen. Go Ahead focuses on finding the true meaning of family, and the journey truly touches our hearts. Do we really have to be blood-related to be family? |

If you are looking for a time travel drama (modern day to ancient China) with the most historical details, The Eternal Love is recommended (3 season drama). Although the historical setting is also fictional, it gives off the most historical vibes. The Romance of Tiger and Rose provided plenty of laughs. The most special aspect of the drama is that there are two main kingdoms, with one kingdom being a matriarchy. |
