Former Gugudan member Kang Mi Na will be joining the cast of the upcoming JTBC K-drama Welcome to Samdalri.
On November 10, Kang Mi Na's current agency Story J Company announced that Kang Mi Na will be part of the upcoming Saturday and Sunday K-drama.
This will be the first K-drama project of Kang Mi Na for the year. Last year, the idol actress appeared in the series Café Minamdang and Midnight Horror: Six Nights.
Aside from Welcome to Samdalri, Kang Mi Na will also make her debut on the big screen with the upcoming film Loan Boy with Yoo Sun Ho, Yoo In Soo, Shin Soo Hyun, Seo Hye Won, and Lee Chan Hyung. The movie will premiere this month.
Kang Mi Na is known for being part of the K-dramas Moonshine, Hotel del Luna, Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter, Dokgo Rewind, 20th Century Boy and Girl, and more.
Welcome to Samdalri will showcase the romance story between Yong Pil and Sam Dal who were born and raised in Samdalri.
The new JTBC series will be the collaboration work of director Cha Young Hoon (When the Camellia Blooms, Uncontrollably Fond, and Forecasting Love and Weather) and screenwriter Kwon Hye Joo (Hi Bye, Mama!, Go Back Couple, and The Sound of Your Heart). MI and SLL will produce the upcoming K-drama.
Welcome to Samdalri will be led by Ji Chang Wook, Shin Hye Sun, Shin Dong Mi, Kim Mi Kyung, and Song Min Jae.
In the series, Kang Mi Na will portray the role of Cho Hae Dal, the youngest sister of Sam Dal, Shin Hye Sun's character. She moved to Seoul when she was 20 and got married at a young age. Even before her first daughter was born, her husband died in a car accident. She then focused on raising her child as a single mom in her 20s. Eventually, she returned to her hometown Samdalri with her daughter. Although she is the youngest in the family, she is the most mature and responsible.
Welcome to Samdalri will begin airing on December 2 at 10:30 PM KST. Aside from JTBC, the K-drama can also be viewed on OTT platforms TVING and Netflix.
