I guess this could be what one would call an aftershock
I do not really know why this is a spin off and not just part of the show... but then again I did not make the rules. This little extra episode is just like the first season, sweet found family and awkward insecure men who let fear, assumptions and jealousy take away form the fluff and fun they could have had.If you loved the first season you are sure to enjoy this as it is indeed in line with the rest but if you found the first season pretty good but not WOOW masterpiece... this will probably feel kind of bland. Still a good watch. as long as you did not hate the first season you should probably watch this too. Just do not expect anything revolutionary to happen.

Sweet, Well made and CUTE
Even though it hasn't been long since the first season aired, but the moment I saw the characters, I realized how much I miss them! This special episode showing a beautiful frame of a family that now has a new member that named Yutaka!
it shows mix of Minoru and Yutaka's deeper feelings for each other, Tane's cuteness and his beautiful relationship with his father.
A simple birthday plan with pure characters that touch your heart ??
Everything was in the right frame, neither too much nor too little.
Minoru's beautiful feelings, who gradually felt a sense of ownership over Yutaka, and Yutaka now feels more like a family with these three people.
At the last moment, when Minoru shared with Yutaka his feeling of insecurity due to the difference in his job and education status than him, how mature and beautiful they promised to grow for eachother.
This series with simple dialogues, strong acting and the cuteness of Tane became one of the best memories in the world of bl.
I hope that season two will be made, but if not, Yutaka, Minoru and Tane will always remain in my heart and I will rewatch this series many times to revisit their beautiful story again and again.?
This four-member family is one of the best families in the bl world for me.
well done.

Cute but underwhelming.
The main series is one of the best BLs that's aired in the last few months, but this follow-up episode really doesn't go anywhere or add anything new to the characters or their relationships - it was a retread of ideas we've already seen. Also, it was a bit of a grab-bag of BL tropes - unwarranted jealousy, implausible misunderstanding, internal monologues in place of acting (although at least there weren't flashbacks. And by "in place of acting" I mean the cast is more than good enough to convey everything through their acting). When they pulled out beers I was afraid they'd add drunken vomiting and memory erasure, but no, they just sipped it.
They've been together a bit long to have such a non-romantic relationship - I thought when Yutaka scoots toward Minoru in the pool there might be something cute, but he was just worried Minoru was mad at him. Which was cute, but not in the way I would have liked.
Anyway, it won't harm you to watch this, and if you enjoyed the series you'll enjoy this - but just expect a shallow but pleasant slice-of-life.

A heartwarming reunion with the characters
In this delightful mini-episode, we are treated to a heartwarming continuation of the series, offering a glimpse into the evolving relationship between Yutaka and the Ueda family. While the story may not be groundbreaking, the joy of reuniting with beloved characters for a single episode is reason enough to celebrate. The plot centers around Yutaka and the Ueda family's getaway to a cozy cabin, commemorating Tane's birthday. However, what should be a joyous occasion becomes tinged with tension due to a string of misunderstandings. Minoru's discovery of a message on Yutaka's phone leads to confusion, and so does Yutaka’s misunderstanding about Minoru’s feelings, leaving both parties questioning the strength of their bond. Thankfully, through open and honest communication, they reconcile their differences, reminding us of the importance of trust and understanding in any relationship.
While the storyline may be simple, the episode shines in two significant ways. Firstly, we witness the deepening of Yutaka and Minoru's connection, as well as the growth of his relationship with the entire Ueda family. Minoru, inspired by Yutaka's presence, embarks on a personal journey, making pivotal life decisions. Secondly, we are reminded of the unwavering support and acceptance offered by Koji, who continues to be a pillar of strength for Minoru, while Tane remains the lovable, energetic child we adore.
In its brevity, the episode provides us with a delightful glimpse into the ongoing lives of these beloved characters and leaves us eagerly anticipating what lies ahead. The chemistry between the actors remains palpable, and Inukai Atsuhiro's portrayal of Yutaka continues to captivate, exuding innocence through those endearing glasses.
In conclusion, although the episode may be a short and simple, it successfully rekindles the emotional connection we have with these characters. It serves as a heartwarming reminder of the power of love, growth, and the enduring bonds of family. So, join in the celebration and immerse yourself once again in this charming world.

quality time
I don't usually post reviews, but I just wanted to say how much I loved this !! not sure why it wasn't included in the series, but hey, we got it nonetheless,, many people commented on how awkward the characters were together and how they didn't show any physical admiration for one another, like at least hugging each other, but I think it's absolutely perfect without any of that. Both of them show how much they like each other through quality time and eating dinner together, which I would want more than anything elseThey're awkward, yes, but I find it very beautiful, they both want to be cautious because they don't want to lose one another and what they mean to each other,, the way they show their feelings is rally just through looking at each other, and I think, as with my own opinion, if you wanted anything else, there are hundreds of other shows that can provide it,, I think this show was made with people who care more for just seeing people be comfortable with each others presence in mind, and with that, I absolutely loved it <33
that's all, thank you

nice addition
It's hard to rate this special because it felt like just another episode of the show, which to me isn't necessarily a bad thing. I guess I don't know why it was a special and not just the last official episode but whatever, it is what it is. The acting was cute, I liked seeing jealous Minoru. Tane was, as always, absolutely adorable and a highlight of the show. I also enjoyed getting to see more of Yutaka and Tane bonding, and Minoru being dumb hahaOverall it was just... cute, nothing much to say about it really without spoilering it. I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching it but it's not like required viewing because nothing super important to the story happens in it

delightful characters but not delightful plot
Overall: we've seen this plot device in numerous specials but I enjoyed seeing the characters again. Aired on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/3342/our-dining-table-spin-off-2023 My review of the series https://mydramalist.com/profile/blcompilations/reviews/268835What I Liked
- the supportive dad and that he gave them space in the hot spring
- Tane
- a couple sweet moments
Room For Improvement
- the premise/poor communication is a tired cliche in special episodes, wanted to see them growing more as a couple and a bunch of fluff

Though unlikely, I'd totally be up if they do a special episode focusing on the couple, especially development of them where they start communicating more and more. At this point, their relationship is still quite awkward for a couple I find lol.
Although I really love them, and at least, its not a toxic BL but a happy hearwarming one
I really wish to see Inukai in more BL!

I'll stay with you from now on, I'll stay with you forever
A lovely little epilogue to the show that helps to really solidify the bonds between the characters and does away with any lingering fears or insecurities they may have still had about forming a permanent family unit together.I was a bit worried by the summary as I absolutely detest the miscommunication trope, but those worries were absolutely unfounded. The characters actions and thoughts are all perfectly reasonable and in character and the "conflict" is resolved very quickly and satisfactorily.
The only thing I can think to criticise is that I personally would have liked to see just a touch more physical closeness between Minoru and Yutaka, just a simple hug or something of the sort, but honestly the deep love and affection between those two is always so palpable that any physical display is hardly necessary.
If you liked the main show and want a quick watch that is guaranteed to make you smile, then give this a watch.
