Johan North supremacy

To tell you the truth I'm an all time fan of romantic comedy and this series is exactly the same..
I dropped the series from the first episode- not because it is boring but it felt a little slow- not to mention whenever there is Earth ( sry I love Earth but his part is always a little slow..only in the 1st 2 episodes) but believe me, you have to watch at double speed just 2- 3 episode and you will enter the world of romantic comedy. Guys it's totally worth it! 17/18 ep were not enough, I want something eternal..
From now on, Johan is my all-time favorite. His aura, secret smile, possessiveness- I was barely breathing when he put the seatbelt on North.
They have the intimacy chemistry biology and everything. Like what ter said, I'm also a shipper for both of them.
I love how jo didn't even get angry at North, even when he knew north was lying to him..(He is a mix of red and green flags- I love him) He is completely and madly in love with North. Johan is the standard.
At first, I watched it for hill and ter, but Johan and North surpassed everyone, and they have all my heart.
You have to watch first to understand the feeling-it's totally worth it. Not to mention the director; he has done such a great job and he is also the director of Perfect 10 Liners. Now he's controlling the romantic comedy genre in his hands. Both are now my favourites.

Some people rate this low probably because they feels it has an old school vibe and the ml seems toxic. However, I feel this adds charm to the story, as it showcases different personalities and how they are accepted and loved for who they are. This kind of old-school storytelling can feel therapeutic in today’s fast-paced world. And all MLs will not be like tin or mhok. So, don't judge quickly- watch a light-hearted romance. Who knows, it can be your therapy.

P.s. If you only want to watch johannorth, start from the 5th/6th ep. But I'd recommend watching from the start to understand the friendship btwn the characters.
And please try to watch the uncut version.. that few extra seconds of kissing scenes can melt you for sure..

Did I just time-travel?

When I first pressed play on this show, I was incredibly confused. I had to double check the title because I thought I'd accidentally clicked on 2 Moons, or Love By Chance, or something. This feels like walking into a time machine that takes you straight (or well, gay) back to the old-school BL era. Not in a good way. In an 'I've seen this exact BL 37 times before' and 'Here we go again with romanticising toxic behavior' kind of way. The acting and the chemistry are pretty good, but this show has nothing interesting or fresh to offer, so I don't really have anything interesting to say either. Therefore, I'll do my best to sum each couple up very briefly:

Hill & Easter: Toddler in the body of a grown-up throwing hissy fits and getting manhandled by the college heartthrob who won't take no for an answer and posts photos of you holding hands without consent. Of course both of them continuously avoid telling their friends (and the viewers) about their mysterious past, which isn't all that mysterious if you've seen enough other BLs. Their story is also dragged out beyond any point of reason, having them act like boyfriends from, like, episode 3 but not actually getting together until way too much later.

Johan & North: Slightly more mature toddler in the body of a grown-up getting bossed around by the stereotype of an emotionally unavailable, controlling, rich college hottie. I have a head-canon that Johan was in a motorbike accident that knocked all but one braincell out of him. Because nobody who rubs even just two braincells together would ever think acting like a dick and treating them as your slave is the way into your crush's heart. Either that, or Johan is a passionate BL watcher who has taken lessons from all the wrong characters. Well, at least Easter ships it because apparently your best friend getting harassed is cute and not at all scary, at least when the guy harassing him is handsome.

I wanted To Love This

Based on 4 Novels. 4 Couples. That is a complete fabrication. Now I love Hill and Ter and Johan and North but what about the other 2 couples touted in this BL.
Ngern is an OG having appeared in the original Love Sick and it's sequel over 10 years ago and this series hires someone of his caliber and for what? To sit in the background.
The other couples have had little to no interaction and there are 3 episodes left.
Even the unspoken love of Tiger and Nao shines brighter than Ngern and Bever's non existence storyline. This series has disappointed me for that reason.
The same was done in We Are with MarcPoon (aka Chain and Pun) which I got to a certain extent, Poon replaced Pawin and it could have been an unacceptable ship in the eyes of fans. Was that the reason idk but MarcPoon seem to be thriving as the are paired in Perfect 10 Liners and A Dog and a Plane.
All characters in Fourever You as far as the 4 Couples say main role but they are not main roles. They are relegated to support almost guest roles. There is nothing you can do in 3 episodes to give Ngern and Bever's coupling a shot. So disappointing.
Maybe its just me but why lie and say Ngern, Bever, Oat and Tonliew were main roles when clearly they are not.

Overall: not a fan of the dynamic between either of the couples. This series is based on books which I haven't read and will review the series on its own merits. What I Liked
- excellent way to start a series
- the F4 entrance was fun (though not the exposition dump to introduce the characters)
- nice to see several actors again
- supportive dad and grandma
- good that after confronted a person apologized and removed pictures that were taken without consent

Room For Improvement
- feels very old school Thai BL, there was zero reason for poor communication dragging on for a long time/not clearing things up right away in the past or the present, several things are not clearly explained to the viewer
- a total jerk (controlling, manipulative) was supposed to be someone the viewer roots for because he was less evil than another jerk introduced in episode 10, the "plan"/approach makes zero sense and was unpleasant to watch, his victim blaming "I told you not to work there" and financial coercion (I'll give you money for each kiss/hug) was gross
- the haircuts/styles and acting like a child as a university student (an actual dialog was a character saying that they needed to hold hands or the other character (a university student) might get lost, later on a different character covered his boyfriend's eyes to prevent him from seeing someone kiss because I guess he was not mature enough to see that???)
- nonsense stuff like a character saying he would answer anything and then the other character not asking the most important question
- 5 episodes was much too long for the first couple's story
- the comedy sound effects didn't make things funny
- not a fan of what a character did while the other was sleeping in episode 1
- awkward body gap and hands at sides when kissing
- cliche ex girlfriend plot in episode 10


Note: I skimmed thru the cut version to find the missing 5 minutes in ep 1 and other than the beginning being shorter, I didn't notice any changes. Episode 2 uncut was 1 minute longer. Right now I'd recommend watching the uncut version when there is NSFW as that will likely be reduced/cut in the cut version. (as of episode 9 there's no NSFW)

How the Easter Bunny & the North Star Got Boyfriends

Okay, Pond, imma need you to blink twice if you need help. Cuz, P’Hill had like 2.5 facial expressions throughout this drama, and one of them read like he was either secretly mapping out an escape route in his head or counting backwards from hundred waiting for lunch. Also, in case you didn’t hear it when they mentioned it for the billionth time, P’Johan is going to Boston, you know, Boston? yeah, he’s going to Boston. BOSTON.

Listen, the year just started, so I wanted to keep quiet and go sit my somewhere without reviewing this drama, buttttttt, I sat through 16 (surprisingly 17) episodes of... yeah, so imma rant about it.

I'm not even gonna sugarcoat it, Johan and North made this drama. I was this close to given up before their story started, then I was like, finally, some meat on this dry arse bone. North was my favourite character, I found everything he did enduring. For him, I stayed until the very end.

The premise of this series looked good on paper. Four couples with four different stories, and a cast with leads I’ve previously enjoyed watching. When I first heard about it, I was like, sign me the eff up! Unfortunately, the execution of the story was all over the place, and I ended up bored and waiting for the whole thing to be over. Let me explain.

HILL & TER
Boring. The story of these two started off intriguing, then immediately became boring. They spent the beginning episodes making it seem like these two didn’t know the other had feelings for them, only to reveal later they did more than friends did?? HUH??? So what was the whole point of them not knowing if the other liked them? And it was soooo repetitive, they kept going back and forth with their feelings like they was playing pingpong. Literally this was their whole plot:

HILL: I am not asking, this is me telling you that I like you and I'm going to pursue you and make you mine.
TER: OMG, North, I don't know what P'Hill wants from me, but I think he likes my sister Christmas Tree.
HILL: Let's go on a date. I like you, like a lot. Let's make out.
TER: OMG, North, I am sooo confused if P'Hill likes me or not. Yes, we made-out and basically act like married couples, but we are not together. I don't think he wants me as a boyfriend.
ME: Go hug a tree you Easter Bunny.

Like??? Arrrggg, they dragged the whole plot with unnecessary mediocre drama that in the end, I just rolled my eyes whenever one of them started talking. Just, No. Also how the hell didn't Ter know he was the guy in the face-mask? And who the hell was taking those picture collages of Hill in Ter's mother's restaurant during that time he was in the face mask? Man had a whole photo album as proof and I was like hmmm, how?? Hahahaha, alright, do you I guess. Though, I did like that backstory, it was so heartwarming and sweet. More of that from the beginning would have made some good difference.

Listen, is it just me or did Pond not wanna be here? I don’t know if it was the way the director wanted him to play the role or not, but he came off as disinterested and flat-out lost throughout this drama. Sometimes it felt like he wasn't sure where he was or what was happening, which made his acting stale. Very unfortunate, cuz he’s one of the best bl actors out there. Please, watch '180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us,' if you haven't, Pond was amazing in it.

Earth (Cooheart) playing a childish adult character… literally why are uni students acting like children? He’s a talented actor, and they turned Ter into a whiny overthinking child. And all the sound effect. Gawwwd, please let 2025 be the year thai bls leave the cringy sound effect and grown-up childish behaviour behind. Yes, I’m asking for a miracle, I’m optimistic, we only 9 days into the year, let me have this. Anyway, I loved the friendship of Ter and North, loved all their antics and conversations.

All in all, I felt very disappointed with Hill and Ter's plot. Their story dragged and became uninteresting really fast. I wish it could have been better. It’s sad, cuz these two actors had good chemistry and could have done so much more if they’d gone in a different direction, or they’d at least given them a better script to showcase their talent.

JOHAN & NORTH
First off, yes, Johan is going to Boston, just a heads up. Now, this two lifted the rating of this drama for me. Sure, they didn’t have much going on, but at least their story wasn’t boring, and I liked North’s character a lot. That scene in episode 15 when he cried, I felt every emotion, it was such a beautiful scene. He was my favourite. But dayum Susan, did everyone and their mama have to have a crush on North? Also, did anyone else go, 'Kamol, come collect your man, Kim is out here wildin' when Ton showed up as Day? Lol.

Anyway, I loveddddd the chemistry between these two leads. I’ll argue that the second kiss in A Time of Fever was the best bl kissing scene of 2024, but that kiss in the cafe between Johan and North is worth mentioning. And their backstory was also so interesting, like how long Johan waited for North and didn't want to steal him away from his girlfriend. When North cried after hearing it, I was like, same Susan, same. No, these two deserves more episodes and like another season.

That being said, I was not a fan of the whole money playing a bigger part between them, kiss me and get so so, send me a video and get so so, my brother you like him, just give him the money without all the strings. And the part where North suddenly became sad and quiet, and basically unable to function because Johan went to Boston made me roll my eyes. Sure he missed him, and not getting a call from him made him anxious but damn Susan, y'all doing too much.

Speaking of Boston. I’ve heard astronauts going to the freaking moon talk less about their travels. Did the scriptwriter enjoyed hearing people say Boston, or like it was a big deal in their novel? CUZ, I GET IT, JOHAN IS GOING TO BOSTON!!! They mentioned it so much, I legit thought something was going to happen to him when he left, only for us to not even see him at the airport. Dude went for like two screen changes and like three sequence of North looking like his husband went to war. Like??? Give it a rest.

OTHERS
The other two couples didn't have any or little to no screen time, so I'm looking forward to their stories in the part two, heard there was gonna be a second season for them. Though we did get Fah and Typhoon looking real hard and sad at each other for like a couple of seconds, so I'm curious to know what's eating them. I legit laughed out loud when Arthit said he got bitten by a piranha and all the friends were like, that's your friend. LOL, the way no one wanted to claim him.

OH, I lowkey liked Ger and Nao's side story. I kept screaming for Ger to just tell him, cuz dude was clueless as eff. Ger being in love was so cute, and North teasing him for it. Wish he was braver and didn't waste so much time pining.

All in all, this could have been waaay better than it was. The beginning dragged and just when it picked up and got a bit interesting it ended. I'll still recommend it, if not for anything, for Johan and North's story, cuz those two did their thing, but that's like towards the end of the series, so you gotta sit through all the other mess. I am looking forward to more work from these four leads. Pond already have ResetTheSeries coming soon, so I'm excited for that. I'm always down for anything Cooheart, and I want more MaxzyBas, so I'm seated for them all.

Anywho, apparently, there's one more episode left, so I'll wait for that and talk about the finale.

Quite predictible

This is for the ones who like a story told slowly, without twists and turns. I find Easter character hard to watch because of the acting style. I do think he is a good actor, maybe director's fault. He acts childishley and it is not appealing, quite the contrary. His reactions to P'Hill are quite the same until the end. Actually this couple does not evolve too much. What happens with P'Hills family is unclear as well as how it affects the couple. I do like the actors though. North is a much better character that evolves throught the series and he is more natural, acting more his age. I prefer him and P'Jo for this series.

Maybe I'll come back to the review after this ends idk I'm not rlly a fan

I think the series started off strong, the first episodes were well done but as it went on and the storylines kept getting dragged on for no reason (HillTer I'm looking at you) it slowly started descending until crashing. Yea the last 4 episodes could be good but even then I wouldn't bring myself to rate this above a 7-7.5 and that's mainly for a few reasons

Easter pisses me off and makes me wanna turn this off, Hill is fine I like when he's on screen (whenever his romance with Ter isn't getting strectched) but with Ter I can hardly find any redeeming qualities, I heard he's the same the novel but I still don't like him. Particularly with his weird shipping tendencies, like girl your best friend is stressed out of his mind by the amount he owes to Johan, how's he gonna pay it off and also North has to deal with his own and Jo's feelings, what a good friend would do is support him not SHIP him the debtor!? In what world is that a reasonable reaction. Love you Earth but Easter annoys me to no end

But even if the whole debt didn't exist it would still be borderline creepy shipping him with Jo when North hasn't given any indications or signs that he likes Johan. Yea, we're shown that North indeed has some sort of feelings towards Johan but like, Ter doesn't know that yet he continues to ship them to the point where its genuinely uncomfortable to watch, I just feel like fast forwarding anytime Ter opens his mouth bcs I actually don't care about what he has to say. Just take the antidelulu pills and take about ANYTHING ELSE. I like Hill tho he doesn't annoy me

What does annoy me is how Hill and Ter's story was dragged on for more than needed, wdym it took them 12 whole episodes to become bfs when they knew they liked eachother from the beginning, this is no longer slowburn this is just torture to watch as they make ZERO progress 😭They could've very easily wrapped it up by ep 5 and gotten out of the way to leave space for the other couples instead of making part 1 and 2. THERE WAS NO NEED FOR THEM TO HOG SO MUCH SCREENTIME

Now for JohanNorth, I really liked Jo at first, but recently he's been weirding me out with his borderline creepy behavior, not bcs of the debt (that's justified as North kinda trashed his house) but the way he's pursuing North is just not rlly nice to watch. Buying all the places North works at? excuse um wtf that's not cute that's kinda stalker-ish behavior. Idk I feel like Johan's approaches could've been written better like just give advice to North as to why he shouldn't work there instead of BUYING THE DAMN PLACE, he was also doing an awful job at showing his feelings but that's not rlly a problem. I still have some faith he won't be an overly possessive bf bcs I really want to enjoy their story

A Cute BL College Romance

I'm going to keep this review short and simple.
First, do not take this drama seriously.. it's a light hearted drama, so enjoy it! Don't think about it too much.
Secondly... here's my review.

If you are looking for a light college romance BL, here you go. I am lovinggg these couples. I love how there are multiple. (I believe there will be a second season for the next couples we didn't get to see). The romance is so cute! One of my favorite things about BLs are when we get to see the characters backstory and how they fell for the lead early on. It's just one of my favs. We get to see plenty of that here.
Another fav trope of mine in BLs is a "bad boy" ML and a "softie/odd" ML as a couple. I absolutely loved them. We also get a second chance romance which I always love.

A couple of common complaints people are making is the lack of screen time for the "second" couple, (although they are considered a main couple). Which yes, I can see, they definitely could have gotten rid of a few scenes from our main couple. But I feel it was still wrapped up nice giving us viewers what we wanted. A cute romance.

Overall: A 10/10 watch. It got rid of all my stress watching this drama, and I certainly recommend.
