Mental Health and Disorders in Well-Performed Nuanced Characters

I can’t really speak to the bipolar representation in this series. It seemed fairly decent and more nuanced compared to other portrayals i’ve seen. But i do wonder if we should have seen more of her depressed state of the disorder. For a little bit there, it seemed like we were gonna get it, but then it came off kind of like the character was acting being depressed/upset. Instead, off medication, we seem to only see her either manic or angry. But she does nod back to the depression in her dialogue at points. But she also asks the ML what it’s like to have depression. So i don’t know.

But the depression portrayal was great. Especially when the ML was narrating through it. My heart ached for him and i connected to him deeply. His story seems to have a tad bit of the “love heals you” tone, but since his depression is rooted in grief and guilt, it rather makes sense in this case.

The performances by the actors were quite spectacular. You couldnt tell this was a web series imo. I was that sold on what they were feeling and saying. I caught on to the nuances of their performances even before the script confirmed my conclusions. And I was reacting right alongside them at key moments - cheering them on and begging for their happiness.

A gem of a short series.

Very Adorable and Heartwarming

From someone that doesn't often watch Kdramas, I thought this was fantastic short little series. I can't think of a single complaint to give. I wasn't bored, the pacing was good, and the ending satisfying and heartwarming.

I thought the story was very simple but effective. I can't relate to or say how accurate the bipolar disorder representation was, but the depression portrayal was much better than other ones I've seen. Of course depression looks different for everyone, but the way the ML expressed his was quite accurate and relatable. My heart hurt for him in a way that it usually doesn't when I watch TV and it pulled me back to the days I was going through mild depression. The hopelessness, the blank expressions, the foggy negative thoughts, and the constant feeling that nothing you or anyone else does or say will make anything better was well represented.

As far as Johui, I really liked her. I would have loved to see more of her array of emotions and how her condition made her act as a child, but seeing how short this was I really don't mind.

The actors and everyone involved did a fantastic job, I'm definitely rewatching soon.

A gem!

I didn't expect to love it so much.

It's a very simple series about two people struggling with mental illness and the friendship that forms between them. It gives one insight into how people feel and how leaning on another can make things a bit easier. You also get to see how their families are dealing with their own issues.

The actors did a good job, especially the male actor. I really understood how he must have felt with the circumstances he was dealt. He did a great job emoting. There is a little bit of humour in the show as well which is cute.

I really loved the title and the message this show is trying to send. I hope this show finds more viewers!

Mental health & recycling

I've been sitting here trying to figure out what to write about this webdrama.

Let's start with the plot. A boy and a girl meet at the hospital. He's been severely depressed since he found out his father blamed him for his mother's death. He already felt guilty about it but that was the last straw which pushed him deeper. The girl suffers from bipolar disorder and is on medication. They both do not talk to their parents, spend too much time alone and therefore consider themselves trash. One day in hospital they come upon a poster announcing a recycling class "We are not trash!" They participate and learn to recycle.

This drama was sponsored by Korean ministry of environment so I fail to grasp the relation between mental health and recycling. I do not know if other people with mental health problems consider themselves trash like the two main characters here. So I guess they want to say that everything (one) is useful even the things (people?) who are broken.

The running theme in a big number of dramas is the lack of communication between teens and their parents. And even though eventually the boy's father tells him how important it is to say things to other people, to tell them about feelings, he himself is reluctant to do it. It seems that everything needs to be brought to the brink of destruction, in order for people to realize that the communication is the clue!

This is a typical short web drama, with a lot of narration, as usual. The pacing is correct, the actors are talented and had chemistry while portraying teens looking for answers. And again, as always, so much drama could be avoided if people only talked to each other.

Nevertheless, this was a nice short watch, not too heavy and rather cute!

I thought the female lead was too self centered but she had her charms and there’s nothing wrong with actually being full of yourself cuz we are always living with ourselves all the time

Anyway better than xo kitty for sure in terms of accepting yourself and dealing with growing pains of youth into adulthood
