Now let's be honest, over all the drama is a low budget drama, you can tell cause the actors be wearing the same clothes basically every episode. BUT let's me tell you something! DAI GAO ZHENG was a blessing to the eye. I'm not fond of short dramas and for the first time in my 15 years experience with dramas this is the first time i watch a short drama. The plot was not bad, had great potential if it was a full length drama. The music was amazinggg. Acting was acceptable but in my opinion the Main lead and the second main lead had great expressions, good acting, emotions in the right place. The second ml aka the villain was Soo good that when ever i see his face i get chills. He was good. But dai gao Zheng smoky looks were the winning card.

This is the best Republican Chinese genre that I've watched. The music/ osts really goes smoothly well with the drama. The actors and actresses knows how to act their role excellently. I was hoping for Feng Tianyi to survive in the end, didn't expect that he'd die. Although he died, I wasn't expecting Tingyao to be just like Feng Tianyi. It would be better if they atleast live together happily and rule to government, they didn't even had a child or get married at least. It's such a pessimistic and a depressing story, but I still love it. For those who like Chinese Republican pessimistic genre, this would be perfect for you, ready your tissues beside you. :( (:

Meh…

Using my personal rating system of "loved," "liked," "meh," & "nah," this is a ”meh”.

What I liked:
Despite the low budget, they did a decent job of settings and costuming; this was one of the few Republican-era dramas where I felt the costume designer did an okay job of historical accuracy with the Western clothing. They did not try to do things with their low budget that they couldn’t and kept to only three or four sets. I liked that though our FL seemed silly and naïve at first, she actually had a bit of steel running underneath, and it developed over the series. As shallow as this is, I also liked how nice both MLs looked. ? I hope to see both of them in more productions. Dai Gao Zheng did a good job of portraying a bad boy with a heart of gold and Vincent Wei did a good job of playing the opposite.

What I did not like so much:
There were some simple things that even a low-budget drama could have done better. For example, the way Fang Tian Yi’s subordinate handled his firearm, he would have accidentally shot himself and others a long time ago (e.g. reholster your gun before you carry your drunk or injured master around!). The scene when the ML shoots the guilty men could have been done better—I just don’t see that many people going so quietly and calmly to their death. I also would have liked to have had a better idea of how much time passed. For example, they implied that the FL had been the maid for the ML for quite some time, but they never give you an idea of how much time really had passed. I would have liked to have seen more of their interactions during that time. I know it was a mini-drama so a lot of detail just isn’t given, but it would have helped. I was not mad at the ending, either. I would have been fine with a happy ending, but I wasn’t mad at the sad one—which is strange since I usually prefer happy endings. I do not think the sad ending was necessary, but I liked that the FL took over the ML’s role as governor. I did not like how Granny was always happy to have a servant beaten to death but then we’re supposed to see her as a sympathetic character at the end. No thanks.

I did not find this drama to be a waste of time, but I don’t think I’ll watch it again.

Honest review about the show

Ok so listen I just finished with this tremendous dramatic drama + w the juiciest plot. This drama is so nice overall everything is just so perfect, it feels real it feels dramatic, it gives us the perfect rich vibes and the plot is just amazing and it never gets boring. Now what needs to be said: HUGE shoutout to the actors, literally they’re gorgeous, and their actor skills are amazing just simply because you can feel their feelings and you just feel nervous while watching this. Also the uncle is HOT ASF. What I didn’t liked about this show tho, is that Dong is so unbelievably stupid. I just can’t take that especially rich woman from dramas, always have to be THAT unbelievable brainless. It’s giving “lady useless rich woman” vibes. I agree that we obv have to keep her ladylike and fragile to add some spice and let the man help BUT she just never learnt her goddamn lesson and always had to make it worse and never even paid for her actions. She always just played the freaking victim and she couldn’t even freaking shoot a guy several times to save the guy she loved. She was useless and just made things worse. I mean why make out w the dude meanwhile U JUST SHOT HIM ONCE and it’s obv that he is not dead?! Also why u pretend to do what ur lover says but then do the opposite. I hate that woman always get categorized as weak but THIS WEAK?! to not even be able to shoot was the peak. She just bawled her eyes out and tried to do everything on her own. I feel like she believed everything they said. She just believed things without giving it a thought and acted recressly. The uncle was a goddamn god he loved and praised her even for her dumbest mistakes and even tho she STABBED him several times, he still trusted her and she can’t even shoot at a guy who is about to kill him?! This is so fucked up honestly. The uncle WAS the show. He carried honestly and was just the perfect landlord. He acted careful and respectful. That girl missed out Fr. I feel bad for his previous fiancé bc I mean imagine someone substitutes you w a maid ?. This show had so much potential. I wished the episodes would have been longer and that Dong would have used her brain at least at the end of the drama. Not everything needs a happy ending ofc but we could have avoided this big mistake. Also in the last episode she encounters a guard that looks like him? I didn’t quite got the ending. But also that the SIS was never sick?! Like girl why u just found out at the ending out of no where and w not before?! This could have been so useful. I also wish that they would have gone more into details like the map from the Dong family. The outfits and the locations tho are just so amazing ?. I definitely think this show is worth watching, simply because of the plot and the aestethic. Its just wonderful and perfect. I wouldn’t want to rewatch this show tho because It would desperate me asf but I mean for the uncle and the aestethic I would ?

Perfect but want season 2

Dai Gaozheng , the acting was so addictive . It was like I fell in love with fang tianyi . What an amazing plot and perfect scenes with miraculous chemistry and Charming look ...Male lead was so addicted ...I was so addicted to ever second ...I dont know how many scenes I replayed again and again . ..But the ending if he is alive they could have shown not if wedding scene then atleast a romantic so That viewers could have felt relieved...because every one of us is desperate to see them together . It would have been perfect icing on this cake .This is the favourite mini seires i have ever watched ..with minimum charactes it came out perfect ...I hope so there will be a season 2 ....#SEASON2 plz

heartthrobing show <3

it's melodramatic and cliche in all ways but strangely enticing and addictive. keeps you hooked till the end even though you know damn well you've read tons of such stories in your angsty teens. but sometimes that's all you need. amazing cast. extremely. hot. male lead!!! i swear he is the most attractive actor i've ever seen!!! his charm and subtle seduction through the screen was to die for. loved and hated the ending. ml's death wasn't so necessary. but i liked the timeskip. fl gets badass and the rookie soldier omg that's such a great idea. so much potential for a 2nd season! im praying!!! i really want to see the story progress with fl and the rookie. excellent job for a mini series. it was my first cdrama, glad to have had such a wonderful experience.

The subs were saying it's chaotic outside and I was reading it's erotic outside.

This was so OTT that I couldn't help but love it! Like Mhiss A said in their review, it has a Lakorn vibe. It went to those dark corners that a cdrama wouldn't dare to go. You could say that this holds that aggressive ml feels that old timeys like Too late to say I love you or other Wallace Chung stuff usually had but not just. It has the Lakorn combo of ridiculousness plus spice which will not let you abandon it. Of course, you have to abandon your brain first and watch it completely with that one guilty abandon viscera of yours, and then you can fully enjoy this.

The experience wouldn't be this good if the actors did a bad job. Besides the main leads' pretty decent acting and firecracker chemistry, the primary supporting characters were good too. I especially liked the mother/grandmother and the sister.

I had been passing on this drama for some time acting like a total snoot until I stumbled upon their latest work, forever love, and thought to give this a check first. I thought I was not ready for this live action counterpart of amazon self-published bookzillas, but the hell I am gonna be tracking all the upcomings from this genre (sub-genre). But they need to have the perfect proportion of hotness and hilarity without being a sex comedy. Like this.

Bel drama con troppi cliché e poi...

Ho iniziato nonostante sapessi già praticamente tutta la storia ma mi piaceva l'ambientazione e la locandina mi ha davvero incuriosito.
La storia di per se non è affatto male un po' banale se vogliamo poi è raccontata un po' così,per non parlare di certi cliché che non potevano mancare anche un po' troppi, ma per fortuna non mi infastidisco più di tot.
E un storico con matrimoni combinati ,rivalità tra parenti e massacri famigliari.
Lei e lui molto belli e i loro momenti tira e molla fanno continuare a guardare il drama.Lui rude solo in apparenza lei un po' sciocca.Purtroppo i momenti di tenerezza sono comunque troppi pochi.
Il finale lo avrei preferito diverso.
Nel complesso visto che dura poco non mi è dispiaciuto guardarlo.
