In This World, It's Either We Die, or They do!

"In this world, it's either we die, or they do!"
This phrase is what makes the drama. In a world full of monsters, where living becomes hard, one can only bet everything and fight through every danger while betting everything, including one's life.
The story picks up where Season 2 left off, but this season is quite different, compared to the second season. This one appeared to be much more interesting than season 2, I don't know why, maybe it's because season 2 was missing an essential character, Lee Eun Hyuk (Lee Do Yoon).
As expected from our lead characters, they're performing their respective roles quite brilliantly. Cha Hyun Su (Song Kang), Lee Eun Hyuk (Lee Do Hyun), Lee Eun Yoo (Go Min Si), Seo Yi Kyung (Lee Si Young, and Pyeon Sang Wook (Lee Jin Wook) acting were impressive as always!

Season 2 didn't meet my expectations, but season 3? Sure, it didn't meet all my expectations, but it met a good number of them. I don't know if it's just me, but I felt this chemistry between Lee Do Yoon and Song Kang, it's a pity that bromance tag wasn't added to the show. The actions are great. As "Sweet Home" Season 3 is the final conclusion, the stakes are higher than ever. This drama is about humanity, morality, decisiveness, sacrifice, and survival. In a cruel world when one has to kill to survive, the characters had to make choices that seemed impossible, choices that may or may not be right.

While some characters seemed to lack development as they should, it's still a good show overall.
In short, "Sweet Home" Season 3 is a thrilling and emotional drama. So, is this a drama I would recommend? Of course, but only if you like horror, and have a strong heart? Is this a must watch? I wouldn't say it's a must watch, but it's definitely a worthwhile drama. But remember to keep the lights on while watching this if you're someone that easily gets scared!

Nonetheless a great trilogy...

Season 3 perfectly wraps up the series.

Though I have 3 concerns
First the stadium, once a sanctuary, becomes a chaotic battleground, which is gripping but sometimes feels inconsistent.
Second, Eun Hyeok's transformation from the cocoon is a standout moment, though it raises questions for neohuman stuffs that aren't fully answered.
Last is the girl with the power to turn humans into monsters feels underutilized and somewhat irrelevant to the overall plot, leaving a sense that her potential was wasted.

Well despite these issues, this season beautifully melds the action and character depth from Season 2 with the intense, iconic feel of Season 1. It’s a satisfying and emotional conclusion to a series that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Yup, this last season is better than the last season of Game of Thrones lol

PS
S1 > S3 > S2

and I will rewatch it all again.

An intriguing exploration into what makes us human and what makes us monsters

Season 2 og 3 felt like one long season split into two. That's why I think a lot of people found fault with the second season. It had to introduce us to a bunch of new characters in a new setting and set up new storylines, while the main characters from season 1 took a back seat. That's why season 3 was so much more exciting to watch. All the build up from season 2 could come to fruition, and with the main characters from season 1 coming back to being the main focus of season 3, it felt like the different story lines tied nicely together.

I really like the open ending of the show. We have to remember that this is not just a story you can neatly wrap up, because it is an apocalyptic story. The ending for us is essentially the beginning for them in their new world. Their storylines told in the 3 season are done, but their lives aren't. Still we see hope in the ending - how humanity is adapting and learning to live among the neohumans to stay clear of the monsters and hopefully return to some sense of normality.

The characters and their storylines:

Cha Hyun Su learned to accept the "monster" part of himself. With it being revealed that the monster is all of his desires, he essentially learns that it is okay to have wants in life. In the end he is very different from the Hyun Su we see in the beginning of season 1, where he had to desire in life and no will to live. Now he has, and he embraces it, but he never gave into his worst desires. He still has faith in people/humans, despite how horrible he was treated by them, and in the end the humans accept him too.

Lee Eun Yu never gave up on Hyun Su or Eun Hyeok when they lost themselves. She plays at being a person who doesn't care or need anyone in her life, but she loves and would do anything for a few select people. She doesn't care that the people she love doesn't want her help, she will make them accept it anyway. That's also why it's such a beautiful ending for her, because now that she has lost herself, Hyun Su and Eun Hyeok are there to help her in return.

I absolutely adore Hyun Su and Eun Yu's storyline. I now a lot of people are complaining about how there was no kiss or whatnot, but I really don't think it was needed. They showed us time and time again how much those two cared about each other. Neither Hyun Su or Eun Yu are romantics. They had such a deep connection and true belief in the goodness of each other, and the emotion they conveyed to the audience in small smiles and looks are way more meaningful than any kiss scene could ever be.

Lee Eun Hyeok is back with a bang this season. I am the biggest Lee Do Hyun fan, and it was hard to pay attention whenever he was on screen, because man does he look GOOD this season. The outfit??? Crazy. When we meet him again he has become a neohuman and has lost all of his emotions. He says he doesn't care about Eun Yu anymore, but he still keeps a family picture of with him and he even gets caught smiling. Eun Yu tells him to relearn his emotions, and in the end we see him smiling up at her.

Learning that Sang Uk was still inside his own body after Sang Won had taken over his body was a devastating surprise. Sang Won thought he had stayed because he wanted to live, but with all the flashback to him in season1 sacrificing himself to make others safe, it is made clear that Sang Uk stayed to trap Sang Won in his body and kill him (and himself) when the right time came.

Seo Yi Kyeong finally accepts her daughter as who she is. She understand her own wrongs and lets her daughter choose whether or not she wants to start a new life with her. She also finally tells her her name is Seo Yi Su. Yi Su chooses to go with her mom, and it is really heartbreaking when Yi Kyeong is subsequently killed, but she did everything she could to protect Yi Su until the very end. Yi Kyeong's storyline is about changing your perspective and not seeing human = good and monster = bad.

Seo Yi Su is one of the most interesting characters in the show. She is a monster, but was raised as a human by a human who hated that she was a monster. She learned to hate humans in return, but throughout season 3 she starts to change her perspective. She sees that humans can be kind and becomes friends with Yeong Su. Yi Su doesn't actually like to hurt people and she regrets her previous actions. In the end she chooses to live alongside humans.

I have to give a shoutout to Father Peter. I loved every minute he was on my screen, and loved the twist about him and Sun Hwa.

Bloated and repetitive, glad that now it has come to an end.

It's just an unnecessary extension of S2 where it keeps going on and on using the same plot with barely any new information to offer, just endless cgi fights that looks uncooked. At least it has an okay closure that put a stop to all these disappointments, let's just keep them in a safe place at a sweet home and never bring them back again.

sweet home

⚠️—Heavy spoilers—⚠️

I was so excited for this and I really loved every second of this but if I am to be real…
I am not gonna lie I expected a little more from the “final battle”. Also the way Seo Yi-Kyeong died was sad a little unexpected yet predictable, I hated it and cried but it was needed for Seo Yi-Su to realize she really loved her and that her father (Sang Uk) is saekya not to be trusted.

Another thing is all this time with all that power I expected great things from Seo Yi-Su but instead using it she sacrificed herself which was moving, I didn’t understand much about her at the end but I guess if I am to interpret it myself, she never was a monster to begin with, she only became what she was because of what her father (Sang Uk) gave her when he touched Seo Yi-Kyeong’s belly and when at “the final battle” he died, the thing he gave to Seo Yi-Su died with him and she somehow managed to survive and become human, that’s how I see it, If I am wrong correct me please.

Moving on, Lee Eun Yu’s and Lee Eun Hyeok’s reunion was not what I expected I wish it would’ve been different, more touching.. Also they might not be blood related but like brother like sister, both of them left when they started to show symptoms which showed how similar they are and that they really are family no matter what.

Next thing I want to mention is there was many other side characters which felt like they died for no reason and also they were all just sad.. (Wang Ho Sang, Chief Ji, Cha Jin Ok, etc) and as well as the researcher dr. Lim I was expecting something from him not just to be bragged along the whole time just to die pointlessly without doing anything at the end.

As for Cha Hyeon Su I loved his character development and his second personality and everything about his character I can’t really find a flaw with him.

Overall I enjoyed this and I will rewatch it many times 10/10 for me even with all those flaws in characters the storyline didn’t lack and wasn’t bragging at all. I am little sad that this was the Final season but Thank You for making this, I really appreciate it.

(side note: since s1 to s3 they said the word “sweet home” twice and I cried both times)

Everything past season 1 sucks

Wow...I did not think this show could go from an absolute 10 in my heart, to one of the worst things I've ever seen.

For starters: Season 1 is flawless, perfect, I love it so much. The vibes are immaculate, the characters are perfect, the soundtrack slaps, it's strangely so comforting considering its dark themes, and it genuinely feels like a sweet home. I cared about all the characters, I cried when characters died, I wanted to know where the story would go, and I've rewatched it 4 times because I love it so much.

Season 2 went very quickly and steeply downhill. Hyunsu wasn't even in it, the monsters were nothing like season 1 and were instead generic stone things - and in the entirety of season 2 I think like MAYBE 3 people turned into monsters, which made everyone in the bunker feel useless for the story. It also hinted early on that the monsters aren't actually evil by showing the mom and baby monster, then completely dropped the idea a few episodes later (they weren't even mentioned in S3). They killed off basically all of the original characters from season 1 - which on its own made the entire season feel drastically different from the first, and it didn't even focus on the few characters that were left over from season 1 - Instead it focused primarily on the STUPID ARMY DUDES which I didn't care about in the slightest. And that weird lady in charge with her son in the basement (which was never explained or wrapped up AT ALL?!)
The only thing that I liked about season 2 was the fact that Sangwook was still alive inside of his body, but it wasn't even mentioned again for the rest of the season because HE WASN'T EVEN IN IT.
Also the soundtrack was so underwhelming - and by that I mean, completely unnoticeable. No Warriors, no Sweet Home, no Side by Side, no Monster Slayer...it was beyond disappointing.

Season 3 started out better than season 2 because "at least Hyunsu is in it." But when you actually think about it....no he's not. He's not acting like himself, he's not making any decisions of his own, he doesn't actually do anything to contribute to the story at all, and it never even properly explains what the hell is going on with him - that said, I am still glad Song Kang was at least in it this time, he did a fantastic job considering the horrible storytelling.
I was really excited for Eunhyeok to be back, but similar to Hyunsu's character, it wasn't really him - he had no emotions (literally), there was no heartfelt reunion with him and Eunyu (which was so anticlimactic after hyping it up so hard throughout the entire 2nd season), and literally nothing happened with his character at all. (Though I will say, the scene of him and Hyunsu fighting in the bus single handedly carried the entire season and is the only reason I rated this as high as I did.)
Throughout the season it kept having these "plot twist" moments that made it seem like we were supposed to be shocked but they were just the stupidest irrelevant things, like the fact that the pretty girl wasn't even actually the daughter of that crazy lady in charge...? And they just threw in the fact that the bad guy is Yikyeong's fiance and the reason he didn't recognize her in the first season is because he "didn't have his memories." It felt unplanned and rushed.
Also they killed off the remaining survivors from season 1 , save for the main characters, and Yeongsu turned into a monster (however, I did like that he became the same monster as his dad, that was a nice touch.)
The bad guy was working through the entire 2nd and 3rds seasons to go into his daughters body to be more powerful and blah blah blah, then he's in her body for all of like FOUR MINUTES then leaves and goes back into Sangwook's CRISPY FCKING BODY. Then Hyunsu cooks him over the fire like a fcking marshmallow and he leaves that body again, then some other stuff happens...AND HE GOES BACK INTO SANGWOOK'S BODY AGAIN (this time healed and beautiful, which I did appreciate) and the worst part of all is that it shows that Sangwook is alive and fighting inside, then the bad guy crawls BACK INTO THE FIRE and everyone just WATCHES IT HAPPEN?!?!?! ....so now Sangwook is dead?!?! After hinting at him being alive since the beginning and just destroying any hope that he could actually survive. He was fighting inside for over a year just to be burned in a fire...like what the hell, he's been through enough fire trauma and you end his story LIKE THAT?!?
And the daughter ended up having no purpose to the story at all. She just died...(I think??)

The ending of season 3 is possibly the worst thing ever...BUT, the thing that makes me even more upset is the fact that it WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT ENDING if the rest of season 2 and 3 were at all good. Hyunsu collecting survivors, humanity realizing not all monsters are bad and that they can coexist with each other - THAT is what I wanted the entire season to be about, that is what Sweet Home is SUPPOSED to be about - not irrelevant army dudes or creepy moms with monster sons or suspicious pastor guys or the creepy doctor or the daughter or neo-human-whatever-the-fcks. Sweet Home was supposed to be about surviving, and working together to create a "Sweet Home" to live happily. And season 2 and 3 were everything but that.

I still love every bit of season 1, but I will be completely erasing the last 2 seasons from my brain, and to me they do not exist canonically.

Where do I even start....
Dislikes:
1) First and foremost sidelined the whole main cast. It was bad in Season 2 but it's worse in Season 3
2) Didn't care the slightest bit for the side characters. Get off my screen.
3) Lost the whole fucking plot.
4) Why did it take 7 episodes for Hyun su and Eun hyeok to reach the villain. Like...
5) It felt like they put him as villain because they didn't know who to put otherwise.
6) Ending fight looked like a kids play. Song Wook you are a king sir, but why did you arrive so late to your own body
7) Eun yu leaving and Hyun su let her HUH??!
8) Unnecessary plots
9) Why did she turn the kid into a monster. Like my blud was just saying anything why did you take him seriously 😭
10) Why is everybody and their momma scared of the Villain? He was a joke
11) Army plot was so boring
12) They roamed so freely on the streets I thought there should be monsters everywhere
Likes:
1) Eun hyeok
2) Eun yu
3) Hyun su
4) Yi kyung(Milf queen)
5) The acting was good tho. Everybody did a great job.

Still giving this 7.5 just because Season 1 is my comfort series and I liked the main trios chemistry

In Conclusion: Season 1 you will always be superior. You deserved a much better continuation. Sorry for the mess the director made.

So gooddddd

Such a good show. The way they ended season three is honestly such a good way to end it and was happy they ended it like they way they did. Honestly was hoping for a season 4 but really loved the show. Highly recommend to people who like horror and sci - fi. The only thing I thought they could improve on was the visual FX. These days producers and directors have access to very good graphics and just thought they could improve on that but otherwise it was so amazing. ♥️♥️

My fav series ever!

Sweet home has always been my fav kdrama ever since a friend recommended it to me back in 2021, waited 2 years for a season 2 and a 3rd season 7 months later, all that hype and excitement in me was building up as I prepared for the big final season. I could hardly contain my anticipation, knowing something amazing was just around the corner. The energy was electric, and every moment felt like a countdown to something incredible. 10/10 recommend it to anyone!

Phenomenal first season, then it was all downhill from there.

The first season was absolutely incredible, compelling and interesting. Season two was passable at best. And then the wheels come off. Season three was downright awful…ОК… I am too emotional. Season three is shaky and predictable. It actually kind of felt like a betrayal - it’s as if the show-runners crafted this great compelling show that captured me attention and suddenly and left me with a series that they clearly had no idea what to do with.

Let me start with the positives.
*The characters were very all unique and I especially liked Cha Hyeon Su and Seo I Su.
*This story had a very "layered" feel for me--the horror that never really goes away, it's always just around the corner.
*I loved the way the you had me questioning my own moral perspective. I mean, is it really so bad if the guy being hurt is a jerk?! I'm asking for a friend...
Unfortunately this is where the cons start to come one.
*The neohuman were slightly disappointing. I wish we got more story as to what was happening. It doesn’t need to be elaborate but they were a tad one dimensional to the story.
*Theres so much time spent hopping from one setting to the other that it all feels very repetitive.
* For me, the worst creative choice was the seemingly endless and painfully cliched story line of Pyeon Sang Uk. All the cliches were there and were milked for everything they were worth. It was agony.
*A bunch of random encounters with inexplicable things, starring the heroes so flat and interchangeable that you won't remember who is who, or, honestly, give a damn.
*Just running around in circles, repeating scenes all throughout, and without much of a clear timeline.

No.Just no.

a slightly biased review

a little disappointed bc even though i also didn't love s2 i expected better from this one.
let me start by saying that I did enjoy this. it was entertaining and there were interesting plot twists. however i really liked s1 and got attached to the characters, and if you've seen this season you know only 3 of them remain by the end.
the characters that were introduced in s2 either died without contributing to the plot or just took a lot of screentime aimlessly (which led to an unfinished ending).
there were also no cute moments at all, which i feel like were what made me love s1 so much. it felt heavier, and the ending less rewarding than if it had happened, say, after a few cute sibling interactions. they tell you they're happy; they don't really show you. still, glad it was a happy ending.
and now we get to my bias: my favorite character (sang wook) died. i already expected him to be dead throughout the series, but then they say he isn't and give me hope, just to kill him off offscreen. i'm so biased towards him that if he had been alive i would have given this 4 stars. they also decided to personally attack me by putting a compilation of his scenes. pure trauma would not recommend

Overall good ending to the story

I actually quite liked this season as well as the previous two. Of course, season 1 was superior in every way and was the most thrilling, however I don't get why so many viewers disliked the soldiers story plot - I found it even more interesting than the survivors' plot at times and the characters were written well (I even shed some tears in season 2&3) - but everyone has different taste...

Season 3 started off really good and was good overall, especially with the return of some characters. I just wished for more brutality towards the villains lol (the ending was just too soft for me).

Song Kang did amazing and actions/thrillers def suit him a lot! I wish we get to see him more often in these genres. Lee Jin Wook pulls off villains amazingly well *o* . Lee Do Hyun is such a pleasure to watch whatever role he takes <3 Go Min Si got so much better with time, i really enjoy watchinig her nowadays ^^ and many, many more actors (esp. the soldiers) showed excellect skills, so acting was definitely on point here, no complaints!

Almost all of my favorites survived, so it's an 8/10 in the end :D Joke aside, the theme was pretty new when the series started. There weren't many monster/apocalyptic/thriller/horror stuff to watch and Sweet Home was definitely something fresh for many people. I suggest watching it without too much expectations that it's gonna be a 10/10 (S1 def deserves a 10 but S2&3 focus more on the psychological aspect and suspence and less on the action so if you're looking for that, just try to hold on for the characters тт.тт)

P.S. I haven't read the webtoon, so my opinion is purely based on the Netflix series
