A thriller with a gripping story and grey characters
The show which looks it is gonna be some romantic cliche stuff turns into dark gritty thriller. The actors both main and side have nailed their roles. The best part of the story is that no one is good but all have their evils and demons that slowly unravel with each episode.
FL is a girl and all she ever wanted was to perform and be loved by others but just because of her face was instead mocked and ignored by the society. Just when things couldn't get worse she meets people only used and hurt her, the only girl who ever befriended her and cherished her died in her arms.
The show also shedded light on the beauty standards that are set by the world not just in korea but everywhere. If you are a girl having a perfect physique with doll like looking features, you are cherished and loved but if you are just some average looking with a lot of talent you are still ignored until you end up going under the knife and turning into one. The same happened with her. Till the moment she died, all she ever saw was misery and pain be it because of her own actions or others.
Atleast she was finally able to see her daughter even if it was for once.

Mask Girl is a show that when I started the first episode I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it. By the end, I was shocked by how much I felt for Mo-Mi. This drama is very graphic and can be intense at times, so I would keep that in mind for your watch. Especially a few major triggers! (SA/R/DV)One thing I enjoyed that this drama did was having episodes for each new character and their stories. I loved how easy it made the plot flow and was nice to see all the details about the others that were involved with Mo-Mi. I found myself easily being drawn into each story and wanting to get more and more of how things were going to play out. Each story adds to the already heartbreaking life and story of Mo-Mi and by the end you're sad all over again.
This drama definitely made me feel the: "I support Women's Rights and their Wrongs." All Mo-Mi really wanted was to be loved by everyone and be famous. People treated her poorly based on her looks and then when she finally thought she had someone she could trust, they do the unthinkable to her. Everywhere she turned there was something that tore her down. If you're looking for a drama that leaves you with a happy ending and feeling then this isn't the watch for you. Although the ending can be seen as open, it was bittersweet all the while.
A short and quick drama that is packed with amazing acting from all sides. From the first Mo-Mi to the new reborn one and the final Mo-Mi. Each one had such a striking difference in their character, but all still managed to keep true to how Mo-Mi felt in the beginning. I also loved the acting from Mo-Mi's best friend, Chun-Ae. Although she has her 1 episode, I loved her story and how badly I felt for her as well.
Basically, if you love melodramas and stories that will have you feeling sadness, grief and everything in between... then this is for you! I liked it a lot.

Not For The Faint-Hearted
I know I can take this much gore and blood but this drama is a whole new level! I was about to drop this drama after watching the first two episodes. The topics and focus were too intense and I thought "Oh, is this even allowed and shown in SK" But then again it was shown on Netflix!Anyway, I decided to continue watching. Five episodes in...I said to myself, "If all this happened to a person...wow! I have to say what bravery and resilience!
As my headline said, not for the faint-hearted so you've been warned viewers.
About the ending, I was like "ok" ...it could have been a little more satisfying....

MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW THAT NANA IS SO BEAUTIFUL?
to say, The actresses in Kim Mi mo(Go Hyun Jung & Nana) did a good job! (Yeom Hye Ran) Kim Kyung Ja Real Prepsycho! That kept the drama alive And the rest were average. But the story was not set.Wasn't it?
The story of Mi-mo's life!
For that I saw 2G spread again. Too bad, because nothing else can be added. She wanted to be famous, but she was! Not in a good way! Didn't she need to live for that? These days there is concern about the end of the drama! But here it has turned completely 180 degrees. After seeing the end of the drama, it seems that the Chinese historical drama such as Wuxia,Xuanhuan type drama! 😪😝😷

I miss Go Hyun Jung. The drama is not a classic thriller. Everyone says it should have three seasons, but the point of the drama is to be short and have a perfect end, at least for me.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

makjang makjang makjang
whew! just finished this and it was a wild wild ride. I'll just review this drama simply.what i like:
1. the story, the overall story. it was very very good. i was rarely bored.
2. the casts were all brilliant. i love go hyun jung acting a lot, but i enjoyed nana's portrayal as kim mi mo the most (if i get the name wrong, it's bcos I'm still confused with the daughter's name). nana's version of kim mi mo was when she was living her most fearless, brave, nothing to lose life. and nana also executed the acting, perfectly!
3. a lot of interesting side characters. morally grey at its finest, oh but we luvvvv.
what i dislike
1. I'm weird for this, but despite only having 7 eps, but i wish some eps were a bit quicker? sometimes i watch the watch bar (or how what do u call this), and feel like "ohh still long way to go". idk i think this is only me.
2. some illogical stuff but yeah as a makjang it's totally acceptable.
3. the fact that even till the very end, she (iykyk) never knew that her son is the dad of the child. arghhhh
yeah, i think that's it. totally watchable for only 7 eps and very interesting storyline and great acting even from the teen actors. also, rarely boring. recommended!
ps: pls ignore my score abt the music. i don't really care abt the music, I don't even remember it. i just had to put a score.
yeap, that's it.

Everybody is worth of human decency
"If calling someone ugly was enough to kill someone then everyone in this country would be dead"What a line.
Well this did not go the way I thought. At least up until ep 2. Ngl I considered dropping when I got to that point cause I wasn't seeing where they were gonna take this but in ep 3 things got more interesting. MoMi's journey definitely had some surprises. Her story didn't develop the way I thought I would but in the superficial sense, she is a reflection of what many people deal with irl. With South Korea being the plastic surgery capital of the world and how common beautifying procedures are there, I've noticed a lack of empathy and cruelty towards those who are different and fit an ultra specific mold of beauty. All the main women here have tragic ends but I found it fitting to end the series with the first we saw of MoMi: a happy young girl that wanted people to love her back. The character-threaded episodes and how everyone's backstory leads them to Mo Mi was done well. Though the lookism commentary could've been a little stronger, I like the points that were brought up. Simply put, attractive people will always have an advantage but a person's value doesn't lie solely in their appearance. One thing I noticed while watching Nam Joo's mother's long and tiring revenge was that she used Christianity as some sort of twisted justification for her plan. She also never once reflected on her son's life or the events that led up to his death, which would've provided some context that perhaps could've led her down a different path.
SPOILER ALERT:
Why didn't Bomi just tell Nam Joo's mom that the reason why she killed her son was bc he tried to rape her? There was a bit of rage but it was mostly self defense. His mom would've still been angry but all she knew was that some girl killed her son and she ran with that.

An intensive story about revenge
Before I started watching this I had pretty low expectations because nowadays the Netflix Kdrama thrillers have been kinda disappointing to be honest but then I fell in love! The episodes get more and more interesting and intense by episode that you just get hooked.I haven't watched a drama this good in a long time so I finished watching this in a day. Everything was just so good but a slight minus is that I would have wanted some original soundtracks to the drama so I could go listen to them after watching it but it didn't affect my watching experience tho.
All I can say here is that just go watch it!

A great drama with great moral
It was a great drama, short, with a great storyline. It showed how a beautiful, confident person could be made ugly by the whole world. She was always beautiful, but gave up her dream because of the society standards. The whole world criticised her, she was hurt and broken but she became bad in the eyes of the world and that hate traveled to her daughter who was absolutely an innocent soul. This shows how society modifies a great person into a bad one.Storyline and moral were great.
Loved and cried alot during the end.
Acting and cast was top notch. Absolutely loved the female lead Lee Han Byeol as an rookie actress and the child actress too, each and every role was great.
Kudos to the staff and team working behind too.
Loved the drama quality too👏🏻

Trigger Warning
Trigger Warning for those who have been in toxic relationships and experienced bullying, violence, etc. That's sick! A series where every episode is emotionally draining and all the characters are sick. A point of view that views people who are not beautiful/good-looking as despicable and worthy of being treated like trash. While those who hate them are much more like trash.
Lee Jun Young as Choi Bu Yeong who became a really bad person in personality and attitude towards her (ex) lover, totally made me disgusted and eager to beat the shit out of him. I was satisfied when I saw her in the end, getting her life snuffed out by her ex and her ex's friend.
