Another Korean drama of Kim Tae Ri who took on the main protagonist role who strived for their goals and faced obstacles they had alongside the way

Jeong Nyeon character in webtoon was inspired by Kim Tae Ri's Sook Hee in The Handmaiden. Both are women centric and starred by South Korean actress Kim Tae Ri.

Similarities:
=> Story of female characters doing all what they can to thrive in the art form they chose
=> There is implied lesbian relationship in both dramas between the female lead and another female character

Both tell the story of a theater drama artist's struggle from zero with all the obstacles. But in Jeongnyeon there is a queer element in the story

both series are female-centric and show us hard-worl, rivalry between them, there's gifted fl who's poor also and both fl's mother was gifted in the past etc

Both shows are about women who dreams to become a great artist/performer. The major differen ce though is that Hwang Ji Ni also focuses on the lovelife of the female lead while living as an artist/performer while Jeong Nyeon doesn't seem to be that way.

Both are female centric dramas in which the FL is pursing her career and faces set-backs and difficulties along the way. Both dramas have a similar feel.

Jeong Nyeon: The Star is Born talks about yeoseong gukgeuk an artform in South Korea that incorporates pansori and stage performances that features all-women casts and some of them needs to portray a male role. Farewell My Concubine it talks about the Peking opera and some men portray dan (female) roles.

Both stories have implied same sex romance between the characters: Hyerang and Okgyeong, Jeong Nyeon and Juran for Jeong Nyeon: The Star is Born. Cheng Die Yi and Duan Xiao Lu on Farewell My Concubine
