Till the End of the Tears. THE BEST WUXIA EVER!!!??

If you are planning on watching TTEOTM, I just have to warn you. You WILL need a lot of tissues. Bai Lu and Luo Yun Xi's chemistry is phenomenal. You will not regret watching TTEOTM. Their chemistry in Love is Sweet is also👌 I think I have never watched a better drama than this and I have watched more than 200 dramas during the past four years. I have just watched the last episode of TTEOTM and I have except for crying my eyes out, also gotten nosebleed because of my excessive crying.

This cdrama is a rollercoaster of emotions and you will question both the FML and ML actions sometimes, but they all have their own purposes and reasons. You will kind of understand them, even though it can get frustrating and annoying sometimes. Some characters are so annoying that you probably want the worst ending for them.

OST AND COSTUME
I just have to say that both the OST and costumes are so beautiful. I literally have the OST in my playlist and if I wanted to - I could have the OST on repeat forever 😍 They really have upgraded their game and I fell in love with the clothing designs so many times. It wasn't just the typical boring design. In this drama, it was a different experience. Also the ML makeup (with the pearls), especially as Sang Jiu. I have no words - it was so perfect and beautiful 😍😍

It's also very frustrating that they have cut out so many beautiful scenes. Especially in the end, when Tantai Zimi meets her father and when they live their happy lives together as a family. They have really robbed our and their happiness for this bad ending. I really hope that they will release either a season 2 or special episodes where they will do TTJ justice!

I would have given TTEOTM at least 9/10, because of the ending. But, I think the actors and actresses, the plot, and the chemistry made up for the really bad and sad ending. Youku dramas will now be known as the dramas with the saddest ending - especially after "Starry Love" and "Immortal Samsara".

I also have to point out that Luo Yunxi's acting was phenomenal. He portrayed so many feelings and characters. I could feel his emotions through the screen. His acting has also only gotten better. I have liked him as an actor since I saw him in "Ashes of Love" and it just made fall for him again 😆 Bai Lu was also great. I could feel the sadness, betrayal and most importantly when she had to make many difficult decisions throughout the series.

My last comments on this cdrama is - you have to watch this and you will not regret it!

Thank you :)

I loved this drama

I waited a year for this drama and I was not disappointed. Now I dare to say that it is the best xianxia drama of the year. The visuals are stunning. The visual effects, the costumes, the make-up, everything is amazing. As is the music, the entire ost is captivating. The storytelling is flawless even though they had to cut the story threads from 54 episodes to 40. Not a dull moment, and the full range of emotions is encountered, no doubt very deep and thought-provoking. There's abuse, evil, love, regret, passion, a series of misunderstandings, sacrifice, betrayal, and on and on. The performances of the actors are quite amazing. Let's start with our two protagonists. Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu gave their best, no actor or actress could have played their characters better. They portrayed 4 and 3 different characters respectively, quite brilliantly and distinctively. Luo Yunxi's gaze and the tiny movements of his mouth are so captivating, he completely conveys what he is feeling and thinking. Bai Lu is beautiful, her characters are a joy to watch, none of them are weak, wimpy characters. And when she's in pain, you can't help but cry and sympathise with her, her performance is 10/10. And their chemistry, oh my god, there are no words. Every little movement they make towards each other, the way they look at each other, expresses insecurity, passion and intimacy all at once. You can see that they like each other and they love working together, Love is sweet was a wonderful collaboration too, I hope to see them together again. The rest of the cp is great, everyone is well developed, there is chemistry. I would deduct half a point for the ending because it is so painful I sobbed for an hour, but I can't because it is a flawless creation, a masterpiece.

”Tantai Jin, why weren’t you bound?” “Because I don’t dream.”

TTEOTM was all i could think about, it impacted me so much and the first xianxia i was really into. I love TTJ & YXW endlessly with all my heart & soul and together they are everything i can’t even condense it down in a review…it has the highest level of angst that i’ve been searching for for ages with a really enjoyable storyline & different arcs. the acting is incredible, especially Leo who is outstanding - the first cdrama actor I’ve seen with range and to really blow me away

The overall standards of TTEOTM are way higher than cdramas incl; the outfits, cgi, writing, acting, cinematography, characters that were all the best i’ve seen in a historical drama. Shit completely hits the fan and there’s no happiness at all, just pain, betrayal, death, sacrifice and endless suffering for the MC - it’s painfully perfect

Love you till the end of the moon?

The light to my darkness,
To my night you are that fallen only star,
Dearest Yin to my Yang,
I’ll stay with you, Till the End of the Moon.

I’ve been through the journey of TTEOTM from the time it was announced that Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu will be pairing up together once again and that too for a Xianxia. For all the ‘Love is Sweet’ fans this is more than a treat. I shall rightly say, I trespassed my time with the flow of this drama. The day I knew it was an adaptation of a novel, I read it ardently which only made me more and more impatient to witness it with my eyes. This drama is not completely the same story but I’ll say, the pleasant changes will only please. The drama version took me into it irrevocably deeper. All the clips of the efforts that went into this drama only made me feel like this is my child. I just wished that this succeeds and it did. The talk is real. TTEOTM deserves it.

“You alone, livened up the entire world~”

To the audience now entering into this whole new world of Tan Tai Jin and Li Su Su, this might be a story of a Devil God who was once fragile and a Heavenly immortal who is up for making all the wrongs right. But what you are going to experience is their world of love. A love that’s deep, filled with care and concern, filled with hate and resentment, heart wrenching, miserable, toxic yet still being its own tonic to that toxicity.

“This is the world that loved you, loved by you~”

If not because of Li Su Su, the world might’ve ended in the hands of Tan Tai Jin. It’s his love for her that took away the devil in him. Being born with the Devil Bone was not his choice but how to lead his life, to some extent, was. It was a very difficult path as it’s not easy to change fate. But he was resolute to change it for the good and Li Su Su was the catalyst. TTEOTM depicts how love can make this world beautiful.

The story moves fast, it doesn’t loosen the grip. I watched it while it aired and couldn’t resist myself for the days but as you watch it now, I bet you’ll binge watch the whole thing. This one gets you sleepless.

However, I do wish that it could’ve come a while early before all these censorship issues. I would’ve been too happy to watch it for a longer time without all the cuts that this drama has to go through. Which was pretty brutal to say cuz it, sometimes, feels rushed and ended abruptly. How can I complain it on the drama when I know that it’s the biggest victim here. Anyway, TTEOTM still wins for me.

“I wanna borrow the moon that’s about to fall from the edge of the sky. I wanna hang a glittering butterfly there~”

This beautiful love story has so many many good things to talk about and to name a few, they are…..

Story. Fast. Not at all boring. Unique. I love the connection of all dots from here and there which runs through all the three supposed worlds. It’s an intelligent writing in my opinion. Moving away from the the original novel also brought in fresh changes which are, I think, satisfying. The story gave a lot of scope for debate and discussion of Why? What? How? This is worth binge-watching.

Closure. Something that I really appreciate in this drama is the closure. Misunderstandings do happen, more often a lot. Characters change but the fate seems the same. There is immense love hidden deep in their hearts but constantly their trust is broken. Yet they try to hang on and still stay with each other. However, when question arises, “Until when?”, this beautiful mirage they created for themselves breaks. Albeit, they realise. The do’s and don’ts that would’ve been done and avoided and the forces that led them to the way they ended up. The story ends but with a licit knot. Properly wound. Closed. I hate dramas with a lot of misunderstandings and more if they were not solved. Here, though misunderstandings exist, they are realised and an effort is made to stop from the repetition and I appreciate it a lot.

Characters. Here, the characters possess the story. The story creates the characters. A perfect blend.

I’ll not tell more about Tan Tai Jin and Li Su Su. I’m emotional. I have no words. They have my heart. A world was made for them, I got a free ticket to that world and I’m not coming back. No way. I just wanna stay here with them. That’s it. Rest, you watch!

One character that stole my heart would definitely be Pian Ran. That little fox demon is no less an angel. Be it the best partner for Ye Qingyu or the best friend for Ye Xiwu or the best assistant to Tan Tai Jin or the best Cupid for the latter two…. All of her acts were as beautiful as she is. Pian Ran deserves Ye Qingyu. Not me, but a majority has fallen for her through this drama. I wish she shines brighter in the future.

Ye Qingyu. A righteous man till his end. He is smart, handsome, and not someone who lets unworldly principles to rule over good. He stays obedient but also knows the line and extent. At the end, all he wants is goodness. He strives, he strides, he succeeds. Family is his responsibility, love is his passion, valour is his strength. An impressive unshady character. Ye Qingyu deserves Pian Ran.

P.S: I wished that I could see more Pian Ran and Ye Qing Yu.

Like the majority, again, we agree upon who is that one character which was a sore to the eye and no doubt it is Ye Bing Chang. She deserves the ‘Bitchang’ title! In all the three lives with all the three names, she was always the thorn and the real devil. How I wished that I could punish her with all the worst punishments in the world, I swear I’d become a devil to bring her down. Hate her.

Xiao Lin. Sigh! A character with great potential but completely ruined. He is one character I felt like was the writer’s fault. He was portrayed to be this unconditional lover, a pure Pearl like character who is so patient, so heavenly. For a while that was still believable. I think the leniency he had towards Ye Bing Chang irrespective of her acts made his character less interesting. And this is only about the mortal realm era, mind that! Cuz in the dream arc and immortal realm, his character was just negligible. At least as Sang You he seemed sweet and good irrespective of the less screen time but as Gong Ye Jiwu, he just made me angry. What was Gong Ye Jiwu’s character even? A Fool? I guess! All of his actions were just so foolish. His intelligent image seemed fake. Boy was ruined. I think it is the character I have complaints about in the whole drama.

I loved Zhao You and Qu Xuan Zi. Their little bromance was cute. I love how great of a father Qu Xuan Zi is. He let Su Su live her life the way she wants. He believed in her and knows that she is an adult enough to take the right choices. And I love love love Zhao You. The best master! After Su Su, It was only him who trusted Tan Tai Jin and gave him a new beginning as Cang Jiu Min. He was not that conventional master. He was funny and sweet.

Si Ying, Jing Mie. Devils but cute ones. Though their unnecessary efforts in the name of bringing the lord back were making me frustrated, I shipped them together. Haha. They came like wind, vanished with the wind.

Ye Xiao a great dad, grandma Ye was so cool, Ye Ze Yu… might have been the grey one but grew to be a man, Chuntao… a cutie. The Ye family (ofc except that stupid Ye Bing Chang), though had a very less screen space, saved some seats in the heart.

Nian Bai Yu…. Thank you for the loyalty. Throughout the drama, I kept wishing for good people to accompany Tan Tai Jin and make him feel loved. And all the people who chose to do that are my favourites.

Costumes. Oh my my! What shall I even say about the costumes in this drama? One word- Stunning! The Devil God’s outfits are my favourite! The details on the black outfits are soooooo good! Tan Tai Jin as the Emperor of Jing had another set of splendid outfits. The intricate detailing was so good. Ye Xi Wu had outfits that fit her character very well. The Jewellery needs to be particularly mentioned. How alluring! The chain like jewellery in the mid partition of Ye Xi Wu’s hair was so nice and beautiful on her. Sang Jiu’s wedding dress is so unique but cute which suits her adorable image very much. The Devil God marriage outfit is just out of this world. The BTS shows how much time and effort went into creating so many beautiful costumes and how carefully they are made. All of them need to be put in a Museum or an Art Centre for sure! The last outfits of both of them are chefs kiss😘.

Makeup. Very pretty. Perfect. You can argue with the walls if you are not on the same page as me in this. Periodt. The Clam clan makeup in the dream arc is so dreamy and cute. The pearls, the shimmery eye makeup, wow! Very delicate. I just loved the sleek thin winged eye liner on Luo Yunxi so much. His eyes looked more extensive which indeed helped him to portray his minute emotions more through his eyes. And also the different eye lens colours determined the different Devil God versions. The makeup definitely helped in determining who is who. The devil turned Sang Jiu was just so nicely done. Her makeup emphasised the deep hatred and her desire for revenge. Special appreciation is to the Huadian (the art on their foreheads). It made all the complex makeup come together very well. The red detailing on the Devil God, the white on Ming Ye, the white and yellow one on Su Su and Gong Ye Jiwu are so delicately done. Bai Lu as Li Su Su looks so fitting with the ‘Lady of Spirituality’ title. She looks calm and serene as she should. I felt like I was in heaven with a Goddess! The space buns are hella cute! Ye Xi wu also looked so good. The nice airy bangs look very good on Bai Lu. Bai Lu in costume dramas is always so incredible. All in all, just by the makeup and costumes, you can easily determine in which character they are. Each so different.

Weapons. One fact about the weapons used in this drama makes them unique is the dynamism. I like how even the weapons have a character and were so well designed accordingly. The Devil God’s all three weapons and their forms are so unique to the costume drama screen. They are not conventional and the transformations of them is so good. The God Slaughtering cross bow, the devil bone and the Demon God sword woahhhhhh!!! Spectacular! But my favourite is actually Su Su’s Jade sword. Though it appeared very rare, I love the way it looks. I mean, it’s so unique! It transforms into a harp, a pendant, a jade….all hearts!

Sets. Huge! Splendid! Jaw dropping! Just what such a high budget Xianxia requires. The palaces, the war places, the realms are very nicely designed.

CGI: this drama was shot in few months but the CGI took years! Man, look at the drama, every detail…. It’s evident! Turning a green screen into something so amazing is pure art. And more than anything, you believe! I am transported and I don’t wanna comeback. The Devil God’s Spirit thing looked so magnificent. The Demon Artefacts and the visual transformations is majestic. The art of the realms is so elegant. CGI stole the show. Also, respect to the actors for imagining all of this in their heads and delivering such outstanding performances. It is not at all easy!

OST. All those beautiful lines I used in my review are from the Drama’s OSTs. I love them. They gave drama to the drama. I- I- I LOVE THEM! No words, just beautiful and close to my heart. Love the lyrics, love the composition, love the instruments, love the drama in them and I love how each song was rightly played at the right scenes.

This drama isn’t perfect folks. A few rigs and rags are still there. Nonetheless, what’s called perfect if imperfections don’t exist?

The dislikes for me in TTEOTM:
1. The abrupt cuts: 😭
2. Bad lip-syncing: is it because of the cuts or was it shot that way? Especially in the Immortals-Devil God world. Idk?!
3. The rush: the story is complicated. It needs to be explained well with its own time. But because of the rush I didn’t understand several parts. I read the novel but the story started drifting away from the novel so it’s new to the ones who read the novel too but it gets very confusing. It goes on so fast that at one point I felt like, “yeah.. let’s see what happens I’ll understand it eventually”and was left confused for a long while. (You’ll understand however!)
4. Chen Du Ling as Bing Chang: it’s true that she made us believe that she is Bing Chang and made us hate the character as it should but…. Sorry to say this honey, your acting needs more polish. Her face, at many parts of the drama, had literally no expression.

Whatsoever, TTEOTM is a brilliant, regal, grand and an epic drama! Flaws can be ignored with the flow. You don’t want to miss witnessing such grandiose for the mere cons. My dislikes are only to be transparent about it but honestly, deep down, I don’t think they even matter to me in anyway. So I recommend you to watch it no matter how fuzzy you feel about this. It’s worth your while.

“In the past, I was a blind man living in the dark. I was trapped in a void for twenty years. Everyone say the sun is bright and warm. But I didn’t know what exactly true brightness means….. until I met you.” - Tan Tai Jin to Ye Xiwu

He was ill-fated, lonely, miserable, misunderstood and mistreated so much that all the little things Ye Xiwu did, sprouted seeds of love in him. In him, who was a desert. So the trees of love that grew in him is his greatest treasure, his only companion, his only faith, his only belief. He won’t let that love go, he won’t let that tree die…. To the extent that he even doesn’t care about his existence.

I can watch a thousand more seasons of TTEOTM with the same cast and never be tired of it.
I only wish that the Chinese industry stops thinking of anything else and cast Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi in another drama together. Their chemistry is just off the bounds. I already feel sad that I won’t have them together on the screen. So just please pair them up for another one!

Anyways, Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu, get them their Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Couple awards! I’m now not a fan but an AC to them🤣. LOVE THEM!

The end……..Season 2? Epilogue? Special cut? I bet there is some sort of drama extension for the way that ended! So, I’m just patiently waiting!

Wow, I wrote a whole book as a review😭. I love this drama so much, I think I’ll miss it so much, I think I want another season of it so much…. I wanna cry😭
You people better watch this!

Love will always find its way people. Love is the curse, it’s the cure. TTEOTM is love!

“Actually, the sun and moon can shine together,
Light and darkness can overlap with each other,
Love and hate have blurred boundaries~ “

I cried a Mohe river in this drama!

From now on, for me, it’s not “I love you to the moon and back”. It’s “I love you TILL THE END OF THE MOON!”

it's so good I can't get it out my head but it has a sad ending

I love this cdrama but the main couple had like 4 marriages and all 4 were tragic but it's worth watching but I especially love the ost and the music it's so good and some side couples had an open ending but some were also bad ending. I cried a river while watching this cdrama but it was also heartwarming and I also laughed a lot but I really am sad bc the male lead didn't know she was pregnant and he died not knowing she was pregnant it would have been the most powerful family if he were alive .

Not for the faint hearted

Overall, I found it to be a very enjoyable show. While the character development left something to be desired, the entertainment value more than made up for it.

The plot was engaging from the start, and I found myself invested in the storyline right away. The pacing was well done, with enough twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout. The cinematography was also excellent, with beautiful shots that added to the overall atmosphere of the show.

However, I did find that the character development could have been stronger. While the main characters were likable enough, I felt as there could have been more, but that could also just be my greed. There were also a few supporting characters who felt underdeveloped, which was a shame.

One of the strongest aspects of the show would have to be the performances of the actors. The cast brought their A-game and delivered solid performances throughout the show. The chemistry between the actors was palpable, and they worked together seamlessly to bring their characters to life. The lead actors in particular gave standout performances, portraying complex emotions and motivations convincingly. It was clear that they had put a lot of thought and effort into their roles, and it paid off in the final product. The supporting actors also did a commendable job, bringing depth and nuance to their characters despite limited screen time. Overall, the actors were a major highlight of the show, and their performances added to the overall enjoyment of the viewing experience.

Despite this, I would still highly recommend "Till the End of the World" to anyone looking for a thrilling and entertaining watch. The show kept me engaged and entertained throughout, and the production values were top-notch.

A must-watch!

I was excited when I heard the news that Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu have a reunion drama. They are my favorite Chinese CP. I was quite hesitant at first since Xianxia is really not my cup of tea. I tried watching some in the past and I can't even get past at episode 3. Lol. For me, Xianxia (or even Wuxia) is a difficult genre to understand since it's historical/fantasy and the plot is kind of overwhelming. But I still gave this a try since it's a YunLu drama.

As a first-timer, I find it quite easy to understand which is good. There were only times that I got really stressed with the plot. Their love-hate relationship is kind of frustrating at some point just because of a misunderstanding which resulted from a miscommunication (which happens almost all the time). But I must say that LY and BL's chemistry is really at par. I hope they get another drama in the future because I've been rewatching Love is Sweet for the nth time. And now I'm adding this drama to my rewatch list.

Overall, I highly recommend this drama. The casting and costumes are great, even the OSTs (I was surprised at how great all the OSTs this drama has). Give lots of love to Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu! 💕

Nothing to complain abt the acting at all, everyone did a splendid job. Just horrible editing, CGI failing here and there unnoticeably and some production errors of small details. Which I think shouldn’t have happened of a big project like this. The editing errors got more noticeable near the end especially on ep 39 which triggered me a lot; Tantai Jin’s hand switch from right to left hand suddenly. What I love most abt this drama is BaiLu and Lou Yunxi’s portrayal. I even want to rate this 8 or 8.5 if not for their excellent portrayals and their heart wrenching story. There were many plot holes bc they had to delete or cut off many scenes💔. Li Susu as YXW changed into new, clean, luxurious and several layer outfits so easily without anyone’s help when she was traveling around alone on foot 🦶while being branded as a fugitive….. but later after many eps we saw that Chongyu can help her change but that was after she is back as Li Susi with her divine abilities but her as YXW did not have any….. Ending was also so very ughhhh🤯😫😭😮‍💨🫥🫠🥲(I don’t even kno what type of ending this is like we don’t kno what happens to Ye Qingyu, Mo Nv, Jiwu, Yue Ya(she wasn’t even there to join the fight wat da hell?!) and etc). I’m pretty sure that’s bc they had to cut off many scenes(China need to double check and make changes to their policy that’s so not beneficial for anyone)😭😭😭 so even tho the story itself and actors are all good the final result(drama) was a failure for me bc it’s not up to the standard of what the actors and the story could give. And the CGI failed here and there…they could’ve done better some of u guys should stop overrating the CGI and the drama. Yes it could’ve been as good as u guys r claiming but it’s not😭😭 LBFAD’s CGI, costumes and makeup were done better bc they didn’t have mistakes like uneven eye makeup and unflattering hairstyles. Eg the two string of fake long hair hanging out from his lower temple and Godess Li Susu’s eye makeup😭💔💔😭😭
They could’ve just aired the part two after 3 months min or yrs after fans would still watch and their drama wouldn’t be such a disappointment….. The C-biz would do much better if the productions and other entertainment staffs changed their ways and attitudes towards their work.

An engrossing magical journey that will also bring tears to your eyes

This was a xanxia drama that I had been waiting for for quite some time and for the most part it doesn't disappoint. I'll explain this point towards the end. It is fun to binge and visually quite splendid! I'll elaborate why I loved the show as well the few areas it was lacking.

VISUALS:
Starting from the theme song, which I believe are hand painted scenery and a thing of beauty! The costumes are incredibly beautiful, detailed and luxurious. The CGI is spectacular as is the world they have created. I loved the fight scenes and was happy there was so much of action involved.

STORY:
The series has a very strong start. The world of Till The End Of The Moon has many layers and each layer is unraveled as the episodes go on. Even if you find yourself a bit lost, the show will reveal things in stages. And of course, if it still gets confusing, you can always ask all the incredible fans of the show. One thing that you should keep in mind is that there are 3 main arcs where the story is set. And each arc has it's own significance. The plot includes A LOT of suffering on the male lead's part so be prepared for angst, frustration and pain. It is also the reason why you feel attached to the character. YES THERE IS ROMANCE! I don't want to give anything away.

ACTORS:
The main leads have incredible chemistry and it is very easy to get attached to the male lead's character even though he plays the role of an anti-hero. His subtle emotions are just enough to get your attention and understand his emotions. Even though I have not seen other dramas of the male lead, this series has given me pretty good insight into his acting capabilities due to the range of the character that he had to portray and it has made me want to look into his other body of work. I also loved that the female lead in this series is a strong and determined woman who is also gentle where needed. There are so many other characters in this series and each have made this show a success. Another favourite character of mine is Pian Ran who is a crafty and jovial fox.

MUSIC:
The theme song, that is currently stuck in my head though I don't understand Mandarin is quite melodious as are many other songs in the show. I rarely notice a show's OST unless it is ACTUALLY good and this show has amazing OST that is worth looking into.

The few negatives that kept me from giving this a 10:
- Because the series was cut short, some parts of the later episodes are confusing. Not enough to lose your interest but it is still sad that there are any negative points to mention at all.
- For one part in a later episode, the editing was a little bit of a mess and I wasn't feeling it. Though it is not that important a portion. Just found it a bit funny and not up to the mark.
- There is a moment in the dream arc that I found a little confused about and it would have been nice if that was resolved a little better.
- The ending... I kind of saw it coming but I still wish it was done a bit differently. I don't regret watching the show but the ending might be controversial.

Overall, the show is sensational. It's all you will be able to think about and it will whisk you away into it's world. Give it a go and have fun!

A Star-Crossed Romance Spanning Centuries that Shows Us How to Truly Love the World

If you, like many others, including myself, have been looking for recent Xianxia dramas that try to sway away from the usual Cold-Immortal-ML-and-Bubbly-Clueless-Female premise, you might want to give Till the End of the Moon a try. But, there are also some catches. Let me explain.

Till the End of the Moon is a 40-episode long Xianxia romance drama adapted from the novel Hei Yue Guang Na Wen BE Ju Ben" (黑月光拿稳BE剧本), or Black Moonlight Holds the BE Script by Teng Luo Wei Zhi (藤萝为枝). Judging from the genre and novel title alone, you should already expect an angsty storyline, unlike other Xianxias, with blood-spitting and heartbreaking moments. The plot is divided into three or four arcs, depending on how you see it: The drama starts in the Immortal/Cultivation Realm but this lasts very briefly before the female lead is transported to the Mortal Realm. Later, we have the dream arc, where the leads take on the roles of different characters and live a part of their lives. Finally, both characters are back in the cultivation realm. Personally, the Mortal Arc was the most enjoyable and gripping arc for me, with many reasons that I may elaborate on later in the review. The drama was originally divided into two separate dramas but due to government restrictions on the number of episodes per drama, the episode count was capped at 40. Therefore, the episode lengths are a bit longer, averaging at around 50-55 minutes per episode. However, it seems as if there are still some scenes that did not make it into the final drama, which was a bit disappointing and made the second half of the drama feel a bit rushed.

Female lead Li Susu is tasked with the difficult and dangerous task of killing the heartless Demon God Tantai Jin. To do this, she is sent 500 years back into the past, entering the body of Ye Xiwu, the spoiled, legitimate daughter of the noble Ye family. The mortal arc of the drama was hands down my absolute favorite part of the drama. The plot was gripping and addicting, and the acting was simply the cherry on top. Tantai Jin’s masked hatred for the world begins to show as Li Susu (aka Ye Xiwu) tries to formulate a plan on how to kill this future demon god who will kill all of her loved ones and destroy the world. The pacing of the first arc was near perfect without filler scenes and any of the cliches that you would see in many other Xianxias. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to understand that Li Susu will have to kill Tantai Jin at the end, who is seemingly harmless and loveable for most of the Mortal Arc. Their romance is star-crossed lovers to the extreme, with both falling for each other but Li Susu living with the understanding that she has to kill the one she loves, or else the entire world would be destroyed.

Tantai Jin and Ye Xiwu’s relationship is slowly built up with both sweet and bitter aspects. It is clear that both of them truly care for one another but they aren’t able to completely convey their feelings. As Jin Emperor, Tantai Jin, while still harboring resentment toward those who maltreated him, is a very benevolent leader to the innocent citizens. It is simply heartwarming to see this slight change in character that is facilitated by the love and care that Ye Xiwu seems to give. However, we come to a point in the mortal arc where the relationship between the two turns to a rather toxic point, with quite a few misunderstandings. The largest fault in the drama is the lack of effective communication between the leads that could have resolved so many problems and saved so many innocent lives. But this does not overshadow the fact that the mortal arc, as well as the other arcs, had beautifully crafted scenes that not many other dramas can top.

For some, the next arc, which is set inside a dream, was a snooze fest. Essentially, the leads enter a dream where they take on the roles of a powerful immortal god and lively clam princess. I was quite invested in this arc up until the drama introduces an absolutely evil second female lead who completely destroys Ming Ye (ML) and Sang Jiu (FL)’s deserved happy ending. However, the dream arc plays a critical role in the next arc as Tantai Jin and Li Susu embody their true roles as future demon god and cultivator/immortal, respectively.

The plot transition into 500 years later is where questions start to surface and the pacing becomes a lot more rushed. Many questions were left unanswered regarding the futures of some of my favorite characters and were left unaddressed even at the very end of the drama. I enjoyed the brief, loving moments between Tantai Jin and Li Susu but the drama continues to take on the heavy star-crossed-lovers theme and stays persistent with not allowing “too” many loving scenes between the two. However, Li Susu undoubtedly changed Tantai Jin for the better, transforming him into a human with true feelings and wanting to make the world a better place. The drama gave us open endings for many side characters, which is, to say the least quite disappointing. What happened to them? Where did they go? Are they still alive? I would say that the last arc focused way too much screen time on some side characters, whereas the plot would have been a lot more intriguing and productive if more focus was put on the leads. Tantai Jin definitely deserved all the love and care.

Having watched several of Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu’s past dramas, they absolutely did not disappoint in TTEOTM in terms of acting. Both actors were able to near flawlessly show all gripping emotions, regardless of arc or scene. Demon God Tantai Jin was absolutely badass and evil while mortal Tan Taijin in the Ye Manor was a pitiful young man who thought he had lost everything. The way Luo Yunxi’s veins popped almost convinced me that he was actually experiencing excruciating pain, and the contrasting looks of endearing and being betrayed were evidently and effectively conveyed through his facial emotions. On the other hand, Bai Lu’s Li Susu was a caring daughter, loving ‘wife’ to Tantai Jin, and a responsible figure with the difficult task of ‘saving the world’. She delightfully surprised me with her acting in her scenes seeking revenge, filled with absolute hatred and persistence. As with their previous drama Love is Sweet, Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu worked amazingly with one another and their chemistry was once again extremely natural and appealing to the audience.

I absolutely adored side characters Pian Ran and Ye Qingyu. At first, they seemed like an unlikely couple but this pairing slowly grew on me. Pian Ran and Ye Xiwu had, hands down, the best sismance ever. Sun Zhenni as Pian Ran brought out an inexplicably unique but refreshing aura and her romance with Ye Qingyu, acted by Geng Yeting, was subtle yet heartwarming. On the other hand, Chen Duling absolutely ate up her role as seemingly innocent Ye Bingchang, then as the evil Tian Huan, and the demon Mo Nv. She totally embodied the absolute evilness of her characters to the point where I can’t stand to see her in the drama anymore. Bravo to her. Deng Wei also acts out his multiple personalities and characters very well.

Other minor characters were also essential to producing a well-rounded drama. While TTEOTM lacked in some areas of the plot and editing, Wang Yifei’s evil Si Ying as well as Zhang Zhixi’s Chu Huang and Tantai Jin’s immortal master, to name a few, were essential characters that the actors embodied quite well.

Production-wise, aside from the editing due to government regulations, the cinematography was impressive, and the costumes were gorgeous. The drama experimented a lot with different character styles and used brilliantly-colored costumes on many characters, which is something that we don’t see very often in the Xianxia genre. The hairstyles were intricately done and all slightly differed depending on the setting and character. The magical effects were also quite natural and pleasing to the eye, and the lighting of some scenes in particular really added to the quality of the drama.

As with many other dramas, Till the End of the Moon started off on a very strong note and slightly dwindled down as it approached the ending. However, this does not dismiss the very strong scenes scattered throughout the drama, the high production quality, amazing acting, and beautiful costumes that, combined, created a very nice drama experience overall. Although many questions were left unanswered and some parts of the drama seemed rushed of unnecessary, do consider giving TTEOTM a shot if you’re looking for another evil ML sort of Xianxia with awesome acting, impressive CGI, and beautiful costumes. The extensive and gorgeous OST is also a plus!
