Gay man in an interracial relationship marries a girl to appease his parents who dont know about his sexuality. Those then come for a sudden visit and stay longer than planned. They are very different in tone though.
Both movies are part of Ang Lee's 'Father Knows Best' triology, so they both have a family focus and similar vibe. Both also star Winston Chao and Sihun Lung (in both movies he plays the father character) and have comedy elements as well.
Both are coproductions between the USA and Taiwan with an interracial couple and a focus on chinese culture. Also the mom in both is played by the same actress.
The films are very different in tone and quality though.
