The basic story is that Lu Ming is a guy from 1999 and Xiao Jiao is a girl from 2018. They live in the same apt, but in different timelines. Suddenly one day, that same apt from different timelines starts merging together. When XiaoJiao opens their front door, they can enter into 2018, when Lu Ming does, they can both enter into 1999. Then becomes a story of how they navigate having to be together while exploring their different timelines together. There's obviously a little more than that general synopsis, but I feel like I shouldn't spoil the story, it was much more fun and had good serious moments. The trailer does a good job of not spoiling the story, but does set the tone of the comedy of the movie.
The first thing that came to my mind after watching this movie was that it was similar to Your Name, but after sitting down to write this review, they're actually totally different movies. But their use of time travel was similar. As with all time travel movies, there are rules that are set in the movie, and sometimes they don't really make sense if you think about it too deeply. Seeing them try to abuse timetravel was very funny. Yet it doesn't distract from the movie as a whole because the characters and actors were great. They had good chemistry. It was also a lot more hilarious than I thought it would be. It may have helped that I watched it in a theater with other people, since laughter is contagious. All in all, a very solid story that made sense (since time travel movies can be confusing sometimes), and i would recommend it to anyone that likes romantic comedies with a very unique story.

The script is simply marvelous, the direction and photography absolutely top notch (I normally am wary of special effects, as I don't like how they've come to monopolize Western cinematography; but when they solely serve the script, as they do here, they're welcome ^__-), the acting fantastic (Tong Li Ya, whom I had previously admired - alas, too briefly, as her role there was important storywise, but minor as for screentime - in the drama "Waiting For You In The Future", is the very definition of "gorgeous"; and Lei Jia Yin manages to accomplish the not-so-easy feat of portraying two "different" characters and *actually* making it seem like they're different)...last but not least, the music is lovely and contributes greatly to give this lil' gem a kind of "Amélie" feeling.
Perfect 10! ^____^

cute funny movie
This is a cute funny time travel movie.Likes:
1. The two time periods: I thought how they moved between time periods was well done. It was nice to see both time periods being actively used to progress the story.
2, I liked the interaction between the female and male leads.
3;I thought it was funny how they tried to get rich in the past and it failed.
4. The humor I thought was good.
5. They spelled out the time travel rules for this movie which was nice. In other movies and tv shows about time travel the rules are often left unexplained and it can cause confusion in enjoying the show. You could almost say they broke one rule at the end at this movie if you were being nit picky.
Dislikes:
1. I didn't like the ending. I thought the ending could have been much better.I thought the ending was lacking. I like clear cut happy endings. This was left as an open ending. Although, in the end credit scenes that were not translated into English the relationship appeared to be more defined.
I enjoyed the movie except for the ending. The story was good and so was the acting.I gave it an 8 because of the ending.

Bound to be a masterpiece as time passes...
This movie started out as a great comedy, and I enjoyed it immensely; the comedic parts are so good; you shouldn't watch this after quiet hours in your house, dorm, or apt; you will probbaly be laughing out loud some of the time! However, a "shift' came about as Gu Xiao Jiao (Tong Li Ya) finally meets the man she initially met in her "shared" apartment twenty years later (though, just 'days' away in her timeline), and found that the path he had taken did not make him the "man" she enjoyed being with in her apartment shared in teh time distortion.
We also find that futures are "changed" with the actions brought about by Lu Zhi Yi (Lei Jia Yin) in the 1999 timeline; actions that affect both Lu Ming (again, Lei Jia Yin) and Gu Xiao Jiao's father as well.
The cinematogrphy was great: I loved the way both timelines weres shown together and seemed to be sewn together perfectly! The earlier timelines from 1999 involved many icons that also appeared in 1999 America, and they must have spent much time on details since the street scenes seemd so perfect.
I see that both main cast members worked together in past movies, which their chemistry together shows briliiantly as their onscreen chemistry is unmistakenly and almost flawless - like two people who have actually lived together for years...I also enjoyed the unexpected short dialogues intertwined within the credits at the end!
The support cast gave their talent and years of expereince in making the two main characters seem so much more alive and genuine, giving more personality to the main cast members throughout the movie.
This should become a masterpiece or have a cult following in the future!
RE-WATCH: A big Yes!

Sweet
What a cute movie! I wasn't too sure at the beginning, because it seemed so outdated, the film quality was a little iffy.I didn't care for the ML or the FL at the beginning. He was just a sad sack, and she was completely materialistic. I was wondering if I should continue, and I'm sure glad I did. The growth and development of both characters, both individually and as a couple was lovely to watch.
The concept was slightly like Il Mare, with the two mains being in 1999 and 2018, but here, they end up inhabiting the same apartment. I thought the special effects were well-done, and what they did to the apartment so they could inhabit the same space was really clever.
The ending was bittersweet, but based on the clips following the credits, I choose to believe in a happily ever after for them.
