The Odd Family: Zombie On Sale (2019)

right from the start it was so unlike the usual zombie movie, that alone really had me wondering what will happen next, it was not following the formula!
when I watch a zombie story it's all the same, and I'll be honest, it's not scary.. it's like step 1-an experiment gone wrong. 2- one mutated/infected zombie bites everyone. 3- a group of people try to survive...

like why did no one try to remove a zombies teeth before? that was hilarious.. and it has such a 180 concept of how people changed that was another hilarious part.. overall the movie didn't take itself seriously, I think that's the best part, it's a silly lighthearted new twist to the zombie story that's been told a million times..

I never rewatch stuff, but this was silly enough that might make me rewatch it ;)

I really love the combination of zombies and comedy, but zombie movies alone are one of my most favorite things to watch! They're always so entertaining!

Firstly, I was very much skeptical to watch this movie since it kind of felt like it would be a real let-down, but because I adore a good zombie film and the trailer seemed a bit promising, I gave it a try. Honestly, the beginning of the movie is pretty weird and gotta say, quite awkward. It could be just me, but it was pretty awkward at first. But later on, things started to become better and I was able to enjoy it more than I imagined! I had 0 expectations for this movie, but it turnt out to be pretty good and quite a refreshing film with the comedy and it's been pretty long since I've watched a zombie film.

The story was very unique for a zombie movie, in fact. Most zombie movies would revolve around a certain group of people amidst an apocalypse and how they survive it, but the story of this movie is different and special. I guess the story makes this movie most charming.

The actors were great and they all played their characters reallly well. I knew they were good actors, so I wasn't expecting bad acting whatsoever.

There's not much of a music in it, but there is a song which suited the movie a lot.

I don't rewatch movies unless I really LOVED it. I enjoyed this one a lot, but I definitely didn't love it to the point that I would rewatch it. But probably, I would rewatch some years later or so when I completely forget what happened in it XD

In conclusion of this long and boring review, I recommend you to watch it! It's refreshing, unique, funny and would be great if you're bored and you're looking for something to spend your time! :)

This movie literally put me through EXTREME mood changes! I wish I could say that I loved everything about this, but I can't mostly because I'm still a bit bitter.

But can we just take a moment to be shocked that it took me so long to watch a zombie movie? Me? Putting off a zombie movie. Even I can't justify that. I'M MAD THAT I DID! This movie was AMAZING!!! Even the parts I hated! lol though given, without those parts, there wouldn't be much "OOMPH!" to the storyline.

During the first 15 minutes, I was really shocked things were going so fast and really thought "wow, this movie is short. It's about to end soon I'm sure?" only to look and see the movie is dang near two hours long, it left me mind-boggled like "how the hell are they going to fill up the rest?
Only for that midmark to hit and everyone start acting stupid with Jjong Bi. I can't tell you HOW FREAKING PISSED OFF THESE PARTS MADE ME!!! Like I get it, he's a zombie. But I guess because I have seen Warm Bodies (that's what this movie reminded me of) that I was a bit soft for Jjong Bi. Let's face it, he wasn't exactly "normal zombie" so you knew something had to be up.

But I'm glad that once everything chilled out - moods changed. So this movie really did have me Laughing, pissed off, curious, sad, happy --- in that order. Lol

I was not expecting that ending at all and I'm very thankful for that ending. Especially with the incorporated humor. If anyone has this sitting in there watch list. I say you should watch this movie as soon as possible. It's worth it!

I feel like fans of Warm Bodies will REALLY love this movie as well.

Once upon a time, a super hilarious zombie movie exists...

A cute movie! What I like this movie is how simple but entertaining it is. You don’t need to think, you don’t need to prepare any tissues because you would just laugh out loud for 1 hour 50 minutes straight!

The fact that this movie has the same effects with serious zombie movies such as Train to Busan and #Alive deserves an applaud. At first, I thought the zombie were going to be not serious, or maybe turn back into human into the end, just wrapped up easily, since it was comedy. But, the writers managed to write an excellent climax and ending. Eventhough the “happy ending” seemed a little forced, it was good overall.

The music made it feel nostalgic. ‘Rebirth’ by Yoon Jong Shin fits the vibe of Jjom Bi and Hae Gul’s scene where they were running around having fun in the cabbage farm!

Kim Nam Gil, Jung Jae Young, Lee Soo Kyung, Uhm Ji Won and Jung Ga Ram did a great job in their acting! I’ve only seen Jung Jae Young once in super dark, mysterious film Confession of Murder, and I was surprised at how funny he was in comedies! I’m no longer surprised with Kim Nam Gil’s comedy acting after watching The Fiery Priest... he’s a comedy legend. Despite not having any lines, Jung Ga Ram acted the role of a handsome zombie perfectly! I love the female characters in the movie, Lee Soo Kyung and Uhm Ji Won are a total girl crush!

Overall, a nice comedy movie to cheer you up after a long day I definitely recommend! 9/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Zombie flick with lots of laughs and surprisingly moving moments.

I did not expect to cry during a zombie horror comedy, yet this movie surprisingly had a few touching moments and a lot of good comedy.

Flawed family that obviously cares about each other - I am weak for things like that. Add a found family trope to that and you won’t see me complaining. The characters were the core of the movie and they were both amazingly written and perfectly portrayed.

I am honestly not much of a comedy person, but this was amazingly funny. Some jokes were more in my face than the others, but it was all well balanced so I never felt overwhelmed. They were able to keep the light atmosphere without killing all the thrills that come with zombie apocalypse.

Out of all the characters, Hae Gul, Jjong Bi and Man Deok were my favorites, but with how unique and fun everyone was, I’m sure each viewer can find their favorite to root for.

It’s almost a 2 hours movie, but it never felt long. Some might think the set up took too long, as the true action starts well past half point of the movie, but for me it was all necessary. For the characters’ choices to have sense in the last few scenes, we truly needed all that built up. Personally I believe this had some solid pacing - not too slow, not too fast.

Production value was amazing. Honestly beautiful shots. Sometimes I did not know if I should laugh about the comedy or appreciate how pretty the scenery is.

Overall, I would highly recommend it. Great cast, great characters, great story and great jokes. It’s simply a well executed zombie horror comedy.

Perfect for a night of laughter

As my name implies, this is not my typical genre, but it didn't disappoint. To keep it short, b/c there isn't much to add to the other reviews, it was so ridiculous I was laughing often and sometimes very hard. In some scenes, it was easy to be concerned and a range of other emotions for some of the characters, even a zombie or two. So, I'd say the acting was well done.

Let's just say it's silly, Karma bites, and it still had a good ending. I think it's best to watch it in a watch party or with friends for the most enjoyment. I may watch it again, I'm not sure. I'll make sure it's with others who have a good sense of humor and are in the mood to laugh.

Cute charming Zombie Film

This movie Zombie for Sale was surprisingly funny, had good acting, and it is worth the watch. I watched this with the family, and they laughed and enjoyed this. If you're looking for something of horror but more lightheaded and funny this movie would be it. We like to rewatch it from time to time, it gives a good laugh every time. It doesn't take itself all that serious, which is refreshing for some, and it isn't all that cheesy either. It's the right mix of comedy and horror. It's a pretty decent zombie film, I do suggest it to people who liked the Uk movie Shaun of the dead.

What A funny way to address society issues and humanity!!

I really love this movie, it has everything I need, a funny storyline and dramatic plot twist and address on humanity.
Let's first say Jung Ga Ram is the world's cutest zombie. The movie is so funny I can't stop giggling and now after watching it, I"m still smiling about it. It really deserves a higher rating on MDL haha. I love how the family is all about selling and making money at first and giving out free vaccines at the end.

and the little touch of that romance between Jjong bi and Hae Gul, it's just perfect. I was so sad about how he almost dies but so happy about how he was willing (unconsciously) to save their family with his life because he was part of the family. OMG, what a good movie!!

The part how the police zombie light up by the power strip was so funny, it makes me think about how even zombies love a good party haha, it totally looked like they were in a rave or sth hahah

I love how at the end they played Hawaii music when the father had to be the one who start biting zombies. I think a lot of this type of movie normally will leave you to wonder or suggest there will be the next movie but this one was no greedy and leave me with hope and joy in my heart!!

Thank you for actually giving me closure, I think everything in this movie is perfectly executed. Not THE film or the generation or sth but A MUST WATCH for a heart warming session!

Wonderfully Stupid

Is it a masterpiece? No.

But was it the perfect comedy to unwind on a Sunday evening? Absolutely.

I’m not a big horror person, but I love objectively silly zombie films “Shaun of the Dead” and “warm bodies”; there were parts in this movie that reminded me of both, so I was sold. If you like these movies and Korean media, I think you’ll like this one. I watched it on Amazon prime uk, which it is free on at the time of writing this, under the regional name of “zombie for sale” rather than the one listed here.

I saw a clip of it online that made me laugh, and I’m glad it made me watch. The ending was perfect. Definitely give it a chance if you’re not sure what to watch this evening.

Weird but adorable!

This made me feel so many emotions!
The story was amazing, I wish they made it more detailed though! It would be cool if it was a series
It was really unique and adorable. I loved the family theme. This movie made me cry too LMAO. It was also reallyy funny. If only they told us how the zombie got infected and the process of him learning to speak again.

I dont think anyone else could do a better job than these actors!

The music was nice!

Zombie movie with a comedic twist

Is this movie good? The answer is if you are into comedic zombie movies then it's not bad. If you have seen the Hollywood movie "Warm Bodies", it is kind of similar but a bit wilder. If you are here because of the movie poster and think that this is a bad-ass zombie fighter team movie then you would be disappointed. It is fun in it's own way, but it's not truly a scary movie. It's mostly comedy and some romance.

Again I am surprised by actress LSK's acting (truthfully, I don't usually watch any dramas or movies for specific actors or actresses, but I watched three of her works successively and I find her very talented.) Other casts also did a pretty good job considering the concept of the movie.
The cinematography was ok and the music was good and well placed.

The movie is a good time killer. The comedy was the best part of the movie. It is pretty good if you are into comedic horror.

Okay, so this movie...

Out of the left field, I would say that...People might not like it and that the humour doesn't really seem to be effective enough for me to burst out laughing. (I watched it in the theatre) But the idea of the story is unique. I would recommend people to watch if you are a fan of anyone in the series. I wouldn't say I would recommend it on a normal basis but you can try...haha. It's a take it or leave it movie.

SO SPOILERS

What so unique about this piece is that it sets us up in a world of zombies and that starter zombie eats only veggies (vegan) that are unique in my opinion. They referenced Train to Busan which I think it's okay too. What I love is the marriage chaos scene. The way it was shot is very interesting.

But one thing that I do not like is that the time jump at the end. Cast has a different hairstyle, which to me it's a bit impossible. Like how the virus has already been spread and there are still people doing perming services?? HEH?
