The cinematography is tranquil and the beauty of the sound of jazz is so intriguing. Casts are really amazing. I felt like one of the characters in the movie as I watched this. I really liked Taishi Nakagawa's acting here. It was outstanding.
Please do watch this! It's really worth the time.

This movie is very beautiful. The characters are adorable and I can really feel the bond between each of them. The storyline is so natural which is quite uncommon for Japanese movie, it influences the pace as well. Every scene is presented with a cause and that's why I really enjoy watching it.
Now about the cinematography, they bring back the mood board of 2010-ish Japanese dramas & film, like Hana Kimi (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e). I really love the angle that they choose and the way they shoot everything. The music is no joke! I love all the songs they play or sing in the movie.
After all, the best thing about this movie is about friendship. If you forget why you ever become so close with your friends, you might want to watch this. You'll probably remember by watching simple reasons why the characters continually care about one another.

You had me at Jazz!
The moment I read the synopsis and it says 'jazz' in it.. I'm hooked. And this movie does not disappoint.
Story-wise, it's nice. Love how it highlights the friendship and how music brings them together.
Acting is solid. Though some parts I feel a bit awkward, especially seeing Sen's swagger - but I guess that's the characteristic of Sentaro. I just thought it's a bit overdone. The rest is good.
Best part of course is the MUSIC! Every time Kaoru plays his piano or duet with Sen. Aside from the music, it's interesting to note the setting of the movie is in 1966 - when Japan is in the midst of economic growth and jazz rise in popularity. Not to mention, the influence of Christianity in post-war Japan.
Overall, if you're still not convinced, I would recommend you to watch this movie purely for the music! ^^

The casts are perfectly casted. The chemistry between Taishi and Yuri seemed so real that it made me feel like I was watching a real story of two friends, it felt personal almost. They made it seemed like it's not a fictional movie. Their friendship / bromance chemistry are out of the world. Taishi's acting, especially, was amazing in this! Adding to that is the fact that both Taishi and Yuri actually took the time to learn on how to play the piano and drum (in jazz!). That is just pure dedication and it makes the movie even more special than it already is. As a fan of jazz music, this movie had just entered a special place in my heart. Their performance will always brings me chills down my spine and tears in my eyes.
I did not know about this movie's existence before and that just explains how underrated this movie is. It deserves more recognition so please do watch it! It's so worth it!
