Both of this kdrama are of Family genre. Though Dear My Friends is more focused on friendship, while My Unfamiliar Family is more focused family. But they have similar vibes and you wil obviously enjoy the same.

They both involve friendships and family and have multiple leads. They also have the same writer and are of the life and melodrama genre.

-Both dramas tell heartwarming stories about the elderly.
-Both are relatively easy, lighthearted watches with substance that will make you think about the important things in life.
-Also Kim Hye Ja is wonderful in both of them.

I am not really sure why, honestly. They are two different dynamics but both equal to me. I think you all might think the same. :-)

I would say the obvious difference would be their age, otherwise both dramas have a strong emphasis on friendship and sisterhood, coming of age for the younger set and coming to terms with their age for the older women. Their stories and their feelings are so relatable.
