First, I found the topic of weightloss very interesting. I think they did a good job of covering all aspects such as positives and negatives of weightloss as well as her losing weight both in an unhealthy and healthy way. I know I learned a lot from watching the show. I did think it was annoying that she rebounded many times throughout. I think it was more than 4 times or something. Watching all the cakes being made really made me want to make some as well. They were so pretty and looked like they tasted like heaven. The ending was cute.
The acting was superb especially by the female lead. I thought the character was annoying and outrageously naive at some parts but it just showed what kind of an actress Saki is. Mokomichii was cute as always but his character was over the top as well. Somehow though they both make the perfect couple and complete each other. I liked the supporting characters they really added something.
Overall Rebound is silly but also serious at the same time. I rated it so high because I love the cast and it was very very entertaining.

I really loved the cast everyone was well cast. Love Mokomichi and he looked so in his element! After Buzzer Beat I thought I would hate a Saki, but now I love her again. The leads had chemistry and when it was time to get down to some real emotional things they really delivered. I also liked their use of fat suits, they were the most realistic ones I have seen yet. Surprisingly this drama has a lot of little twists and turns all throughout it to keep it interesting, and a lot of comedic parts.
I did not like that the Nobuko character was a "Jolly" fat person , and how long it took her to realize things about her self and others (there was only so much yelling at her I could do). I also had a problem with the drama assuming all fat people could eat mounds of food, and were unlovable or just unattractive. The timelines on which they were getting skinny were so unlikely, however, they did briefly examine the dangers of diet pills. It took me a long time to finish this drama because Nobuko seems so foolish, and silly until she gets angry and that can be annoying. This drama does have a false ending, where they probably should have just stopped and said we are finished but they kept it going. This led to a feeling of 2 different stories being told, maybe there were 2 different writing teams. The first half works more on problems with weight and the second more so problems with life.
Overall, I thought this was an awesome watch and if you are stuck around episode 3-5 don't worry there is some great icing on this cake.
p.s. this is a comedy the characters are ridiculous and over the top.

I admit I smiled and laughed a lot because of the corniness but I believe that is what the writer was going for. I think the title is SO appropriate! You have to see it to understand but the final lesson was great! You have to find your own happiness first.
The acting, well, its a cheesy, corny drama so the acting as you would expect is over the top but I bet won't come away hating anybody and just about loving every character. From Nobuko, with her silly self to Taiichi who is just a lovable mess! I guarantee, this is fun!

Comparing the start to the finish, this felt like two dramas stitched together to create the Frankenstein monster dubbed Rebound. What starts off as a typical tale about a woman's struggle with her weight and her search to find love ends up as a story about taking responsibility for your own dreams and happiness. Neither story was done in any groundbreaking way, both falling into the common cliches of either trope. One specific plot point, the diet pills, might have been interesting if better utilized; however, in the end it proved to be a red herring, much to the story's loss. The story felt as if it lacked cohesion, and as a result, the characters seem to constantly revolve around the same arguments with any progression feeling quite sudden. When the angst reared its head, the over-exaggerated acting on display from the main leads would often take me out of the moment, making me well aware that I was watching actors "acting", and badly at that.
Despite the flaws of this drama, I still enjoyed my viewing experience. There were a few laugh out loud moments per episode, and I did become attached to the heroine Nobuko, even though she was a walking cliche (the Jolly Fatty). Her character was nicely fleshed out with little endearing quirks that made her pop, and I found myself cheering her on despite myself. The absurd ending almost bumped this one down to a 4. However, I admit that I looked forward to each episode, if only to drool over the cakes on display. The offbeat (if loose) story and the gratuitous food porn bump this up to a 5 for me.

I did not expect to come out of this drama liking it so much. You never really know how 'overweight people' stories are going to play out, whether the message will be one worth ingesting or not, but your expectations are never very high. I usually just hope for a story that's at least fun if not realistic or fair.I had no reason to be concerned here. This drama had so much of worth to say, and it said it so beautifully, with the most heartfelt, difficult truths coming in the second half. I cried multiple times.
Now I'll never be a fan of Japan's often preferred style of overacting, turning everything into a melodrama circus, but 3 or 4 eps in and I had completely tuned it out. The story was just so compelling.
This is definitely worth watching.
