The main reason why I started watching this was because everyone on MDL is always recommending it, as well as it being one of the top movies ranked on MDL. I was going on a trip so I stockpiled a few of the top movies and throughout my trip I watched them. I watched The Man From Nowhere or Ahjussi on the plane yesterday and this is what I thought of it...


Story 9/10 : The general story is actually not that original. I've seen many American movies like it (for example Denzel Washingtons' Man On Fire). However, that doesn't lower the entertainment value of this film. This films story has you on the edge of your seat for the ENTIRE film. The scriptwriter(s) deserve much praise.

Acting 10/10 : They were all perfect. Everyone was perfect. I would not have changed any ANYBODY.

Music 7/10: The music was good, but it wasn't anything that I will remember. It served its purpose perfectly, and enhanced the effects of the movie. It's not an OST I will look up and listen to again later.

Rewatch Value 6/10 : This is probably the highest rewatch value i've given to any movie. I'm not someone who rewatches movies or dramas. This movie is action packed, so it should allow for a good rewatch. However, the amount of entertainment you get from this movie does hinge on its twist and turns so that might detract from its rewatch value.

Overall 10/10 : This is a great movie that I'd recommend to people OVER 18. It does have graphic violence and slight nudity. Overall, this is one of the best Asian movies that i've ever seen.

Plot: A twist of fate, sometimes things wont go as planned and inevitable. But we never know what looms ahead.
Great movie, but a bit slow though. Its normal for a melodrama to be slow, nonetheless, this movie really touched my heart.

Acting: Of course as usual, we focus more on the main role.

Cha Seung Won never cease to amaze me. I've watched 3 of his drama (the Greatest love, Athena; the goddess of war and City Hall) and 5 of his movies (kick the moon, blood rain, Blade of blood, South of the border, and Eye for an Eye) and so far this is the most melodramic movie he ever acted in and he's really is an amazing actor.

Yeon Hwa (dunno her real name). I wish she can bring out more of her acting, nonetheless, her acting was above average. The chemistry between her and cha seung won in the movie was good too.

Music: I like the music. Happy songs and sad songs were well projected in every scene. It can change the mood of the audience from happy to sad to happy again.

Rewatch Value: I'm not really into melodrama movie, but because i knew cha seung won was such a great actor that i watched this movie. As for rewatching it, i dont think i will want to cry over something twice.

I don’t know exactly why I wanted to watch this because I don’t like the main actress (saw a movie of hers) and I had never heard of the main actor. The fact that Lee Sun Gyun had a role and that the premise sounded like it would make for an angsty romance kind of made me curious if this drama was any good…

Story- The first 3 episodes are in a school setting and this is where most of the forbidden student/teacher relationship takes place. Then by episode 4 the accident takes place and there’s already a time jump of 5 years. This is when the main male character is suppose to start rebuilding his life becoming a chef with the help of the main female character while slowly rekindling what they once had right? Nope! There was only like 2 or 3 eps where Kang Wook is in an actual restaurant training to be a chef. The rest of the series is just so repetitive with make ups/break ups, multiple awkward/filled with tension conversations/meetings between the 4 main characters, and your basically waiting till Yool Joo finds out that the accidental death is her fault and what will she do about it. The romance in this was really lame and the ending was anticlimactic but happy I guess. The only reason I was able to keep watching is because the episodes went at a good pace and kept me from being bored.

Acting/Characters- Starting with the best actor in the group, I would say Lee Sun Gyun did the best at portraying his character. He is a prosecutor who is all about doing the right thing but when it comes to Yool Joo he is conflicted but adamant about protecting his love/Yool Joo and throwing everything away for her.

When it comes to the female lead Kim Gyu Ri, all I can say is she could have done better. Her delivery was flat and she held back when it came to her emotional scenes. I didn’t believe her when she wanted to leave Tae Hyun again for Kang Wook or even when she was so adamant about turning herself in to erase Kang Wook’s criminal record. There just wasn’t enough passion.

This was my first time watching Kang Ta and for his first major acting role (he was an idol back then) he did a pretty good job. His eyes did all the work and when he was angry I believed him and when he showed his love for Yool Joo I believed him.

Music- I really liked the score and there was this one song they played over and over which I remembered even outside of watching the show.

Rewatch- I don’t have an interest in watching this again. Only good for a one-time watch.

Overall Loveholic is kind of disappointing but it’s still watchable. Just not something that will memorable.

Its an over all 10 for me. From the script to the casts to the OST. The actings were great from the lead stars to the supporting especially during the Joseon era. I have seen a lot of kdrama and i dont usually get affected by the acting of some even if they are big stars already. The others were trying to be cute and the others don't even know how to do funny role even if the script already calls for it. Some K dramas , i ended up dropping it.
But here the chemistry of the two lead stars were great, I saw the male lead in "Birth of the Rich" and " A thousand Kisses" but this is where he is paired just right.
The story has the complete mix, funny scenes, romantic scenes, dramatic scenes( used a lot of tissues)& action. I have watched it again now that it is complete.
I seldom recommend a kdrama and do a review, but this is worth your time. One of my favorites, it is now the first among my list.

1) The reason I watched this:

I have no idea, I just found this film in one of my collections while I had nothing better to do so I just watched it.

2) Storyline/Plot:

This was a multiple stories film, oe of the genres that I like to watch.

Positive points:

*A romatic comedy that had more interesting events than other films from the same genre.
*The three love stories were combined together in a way that would allow the final twist to happen.

Negative points:

*The film's story isn't unique or special. Actually, it was full of cliche and cheesy moments.
*The stories took a boring level at some point.

Story: 6/10

3) Acting/Cast:

*Lee Sun Gyun and Lee Min Ki were probably the main reason I continued watching this film until the end not only because of shallow feelings but their characters seemed more appealing than other characters in this film.
*The acting was a strength point that counts for this drama but I can't say the same about charachter because most of them felt annoying most of the time.

Cast: 6.5/10
Acting: 8/10

4)The ending:

An intresting twist accured near the end which made this film a little special than other romantic comedy films.

The ending: 8.5/10

5) My impression (How did affect me):

*There were a lot of boring moments but I didn't fell asleep so that's a good point.
*I only enjoyed the twist near the end but I will probably forget this film very soon.

My impression: 4.5/10

6) Overall:

*If you like romantic comedies then you may like this if you don't expect much from it.

Overall: 6/10.

1) The reason I watched this:

I watched this drama ages ago. At the time, I didn't have reasons to watch dramas, I only watch anything that seems interesting.
This drama was one of the first Korean dramas that I saw and one of the fewest melodramas that I was invested in.

2) Storyline/Plot:

It's a melodrama so you can prepare yourself for crying and so but I have to point out that the story wasn't like any other melodrama that I've seen before.

Positive points:

*The beginning of the drama was well explained plus script writers did a great job when it comes to the storyline's development.
*The feelings were mixed up in a way that we could get in touch with an amazing burst of emotions.
*Sad events were very emotional in a way that would touch the heart and soul.

Negative points:

*I always thought that this drama was way too emotional to the point that it may fall into other common tragedies.

Story: 8.5/10

3)Acting/Cast:

Generally speaking, this dramas actors knew how to deliver feelings in a perfect way allowing us to feel pain, suffer, sadness and the injustice of life. The lead actress attracted my intention by her great acting skills.

Cast: 8/10
Acting: 8.5/10

4) The ending:

Heartbreaking yet awesome, I wouldn't like it if it ended otherwise because it fits the drama's genre perfectly.

The ending: 9/10

5) My impression (How did it affect me):

*I don't actually like melodramas but this one was a great exception.
*Considering the fact that I watched this ten years ago, this is an unforgettable drama that will never die.
*I felt sadness while watching this drama and the friend who watched it with me didn't stop crying the whole drama.

My impression: 9/10

6) Overall:

*If you like tragedies and impossible love stories than you would love this.
*If you're into tearjerker melodramas then this is for you.

The marketing team on this movie must have had one hell of a headache trying to figure out how to make it accessible to a wider audience. They obviously didn't succeed seeing as there was almost no noise about this movie at the time of its release. And that's a shame, considering how well-crafted and intelligent it was.

It actually operates on a conceit that's fairly common these days; the non-linear yet interconnected vignettes that coalesce into an overarching plot. Oftentimes, in these types of films, the actual story is less interesting than the way it's assembled. Take for instance, Christopher Nolan's Memento (2000), which was fascinating for its accurate and chilling portrayal of the nature of retrograde amnesia but would have been merely a middling crime thriller if assembled in chronological order. However, other films use this plot technique in order to symbolically resonate with the themes presented in the story, such as Marc Webb's charming (if a bit precious) (500) Days of Summer (2009). Fish Story definitely falls into the latter category and (at least for me personally) does even a little bit more.

I love the Butterfly Effect. Not the crap film starring Ashton Kutcher but the actual phenomenon. It's something that, when portrayed right, can be smart and gripping. Fish Story uses the medium of urban legend to give some physical form to the theory and to trace the evolution of a myth and its implications for the fate of humanity. It sounds a bit ludicrous and melodramatic, but the film is so self-assured that you really can't doubt its intentions, ones that become more and more believable as the film progresses. And, if all of that sounds lacking in proper gravitas (which it sort of does, on paper), the film also has a recurring theme of resilient underdogs who emerge triumphant or at least at peace at the end of the day. As such, even if the main story doesn't float your boat, there will be definitely something to appreciate in the smaller arcs.

Lest that all might seem a bit stuffy, the film actually has a good sense of humor. One that's a little self-deprecating and rife with situational irony. It might not be a laugh out loud comedy, but it will definitely elicit a wry chuckle or too here and there at the expense of some of the more hapless characters. Which, come to think of it, is essential in a film like this. It's not hard to become pretentious when using this particular film-making conceit, but Fish Story so easily circumvents this pitfall because it knows how to laugh at itself.

Is it the best film ever? No. It's probably not even the best film in its niche genre, but it's definitely safe to say that it stands in the top ranking for being the most fun and the most exhilarating. And also for having a great song. If you're into punk or j-rock, Fish Story (the song) is a satisfying reason enough to give this film a spin.

Tl;dr? Watch it for some intelligent fun, an interesting storytelling format, and a kickass song.

At fist when this drama came out i wasnt to excited to see it. I saw the first two ep. and i quit because i thought it had to much drama going on. But when the whole drama was finish and i had not thing else to see i give this drama a try. Man, did i get the wrong idea about this drama. I ended it loving it more than my favorite drama, boys over flowers. Rooftop Prince was full of romance, part that made tears come out, parts where things turn out to be different to what i thought would happen, but the best part about this drama was that there was no ep. that didn't make me laugh until my face turn red. Loved the actors, more the four boys, there were the cutest and funniest in this whole drama. i really really recommened this drama who look to have a great time.

Warning: Do not see this drama in a place where people are sleeping because you will wake people up with laughing to much. Happened to me in the middlle of the night. i woke up my baby sister and my parents made me put her to sleep again!

Great Drama, My first one actually that was put into Netflix. Let me break it down in four categories.

Story: The story is exactly like the original, although i've never watched the original i recommend you watching this one even though its extremely cheesy at first, after a while it gets much more better.

Acting/Cast : The cast never left my eyes a stray, they knew what they were doing and how to do it. I doubt you'll be annoyed by any of their characters except for when the drama scenes pop up, haha.

Rewatch Value : If you like to watch funny moments, mean moments that will still make you laugh, the cheesiness, i really recommend you watch it over.

Overall : Basically the story starts off slow, but you'll fall in love with the cast as you go along into the story. It just keeps getting more and more better as you watch, This drama will not disappoint. and you have my word!

A drama I've wanted to see for a long time - so I just finished it.
I must say that I expected something more - maybe because so many people recommended me to watch it and I expected a really good cry.

I didn't cry - this drama was just depressing. It was really sad - but maybe the reason is in me that I didn't cry - not in this drama.. I don't know. I expected a good cry, but I didn't get it.
I'm suspect that the reason mught be that I knew what was going to happen in the end. I accidentally read a comment as I was looking for a soundtrack. SUGGESTION - DON'T FIND OUT HOW IT ENDS BEFORE YOU REACH THERE !!

Acting was superb! This depression and sadness was so believable that I almost became depressed.
I really becan to love those actors as I wached this drama. At the beginning I was a little dissapointed as they weren't what I expected but throughout the story they became the best.

I love this sad tango in the background. The music was great!

But this drama won't get more than 8, because even though it was a good drama in a unique way, it wasn't exactly what I expected or had wished for. Maybe I'm just not into sad dramas as I thought I might be...
(It was addictive for sure - like any other drama - that's why I finished it)
Anyways, if your into sad dramas - you've found something precious - go ahead and enjoy !

This is my new favorite drama! It's the only show that I've had the patience to watch before subs came out.

I thought the story was brilliant. It was interesting, unique, and had me coming back for more. The acting was really good. The leads had amazing chemistry and all the supporting roles were well done, too. There was a really nice balance between the historical and modern scenes. And of course the kissing scenes were AMAZING! ^_^

I guess the only thing that I can complain about is that the story got a tiny bit drawn out at the end. But not enough to really bug me. Still my favorite drama and I highly recommend it.
