We love a future without cancer
The actors did a great job! And i don't regret watching. But this ending was lazy.If you just watched the movie and thought:
"This was so smart because after the credits scene you realize that the wicked one woke up faster than the lead's mom, so ended up killing her and kept the lead a prisoner for 20 years, mirroring the start of the movie."
This was exactly what the screenwriter tried to convey, but the timeline doesn't add up.
The movie only presents a new future, when things are set and done (for the time being). immediately after someone survives or dies the future adapts afterwards. Meanwhile on this brand new future before the credits, the lead had enough time to search for her mom at the hospital (idk why... cause this whole going back cured her cancer in every alternative future LMAO), at the police station and also had time to run to the cemetery and meet her mom there. So this new future was somehow set. Going "back" to hear that phone call that was made before the cop and the mom arrived, warning the wicked that she would die doesn't make much sense. Unless for the FIRST time in this movie, the writer suddendly makes it possible for temporary futures to be presented to the viewers. So the wicked didn't die and woke up before the mom and killed her and made the lead a prisoner (mirroring herself when she was younger). ok, that's cool, but that never happened before though. The future was always showed after the past scene was dealt with. The lead had some solid 30/45min in this new future though, since she runs everywhere she goes... doesn't make sense.
So to me this was lazy. They had a 3 star movie if they ended with a happy ending, so they created this poorly written new ending so that they can keep people talking about the possibilities of the ending credits, and end with an 4 star movie. And that's lazy. It works for the majority of people, but the truth it's the timelines don't always match.
Also can't someone just call 911. ffs.

Don't understand the massive hype for this
I wished i had a lot of good things to say about this kdrama but honestly i am so tired. Took me forever to finish. The main couple (writer/director) had absolutely no chemistry whatsoever, and i couldnt care less for them. I liked the character with a kid a lot, and her back story was amazing and touching. Ofc not as touching as Lee Eun Jung, i legit could watch a kdrama with only these characters. Also loved the celeb and her manager, they had a great chemistry! And that makes total difference. A story where the focus is on mental health and Lee Eun Jung, would be my cup of tea. The whole thing about making a kdrama and that couple, was just unnecessary and super boring.

A disappointment.
Difficult to say what's wrong with this story, cause it's pretty much everything.I would say the story has it's low points in the beginning but it's bearable. As soon as the narrative changes halfway through, it becames the most cliché and boring kdrama ever. The fights hold absolutely no meaning, our favorite secondary couple also starts to have the same fights over and over again, to the point you start to wish the guy would actually move on to a better person... it's a disaster. Kept watching cause i liked some of these actors, but I seriously can't handle how horribly written this was though.

my eyes are burning from all the crying.
This show has entered my all time favorite k-dramas list. TOP5!When i tell you i've cried every single episode, i wished i was lying... but i did. If there's something that leaves me completely broken are unspoken words that didn't reach someone in life, that are later shared to the audience via memories.
Every story is different, and they are all as beautiful as they are heartbreaking. Every episode leaves lingering feelings.
This really made me think, if i died tomorrow and someone had to collect my stuff, what would they find that it's of any worth?! Will my items help to reveal who i am and help my loved ones find peace?! This show was so profound to me... i had many thoughts while watching it.
The actors are 10/10. Amazing performance. Just wow. I will recommend this kdrama even to people that don't usually watch asian content shows. It's incredible!
The only thing that it's not a 10 it's the rewatch value, cause I don't think i can make myself watch it all over again. My head hurts, my eyes are burning... this show has emotionally destroy me (in a good way. i have a feeling i have grown as a person while watching this show). I will watch a second season though. I think it's fair to say a second season will drop eventually, and i will recharge my heart and tissue box for the next round of stories.
Big thank you to the writers of this show. Thank you!

Super sweet but also way too easy going??
This kdrama is perfect to watch in the winter. Is just so so sweet! Loved the simplicity of the romance, and how sweet they were to each other. I guess, it's the type of love story that makes people want to fall in love. But with that being said, for the level of trauma these characters have everything went by pretty easily. A few bumps here and there, but overall an easy going story. The story with that uncle just ended abruptly even though i thought some other type of closure should've happen. Also thought the full story about Eun Sub being abandoned would be explored in a different way later on. And how terribly fucked up it was that Hae Won ended up abandoning him in the same place his mother did (yes she was also severely hurt but that's just so wrong in so many levels)... Like the perfect man he is, he is very accepting of her departure, he was always expecting it, and never ever cries or feels any kind of frustration about it. She ends up coming back on her own terms and on the day of his mother's death, she decides to run towards his car to ask for a hug, cause she just couldn't wait any longer... and he, again, like the sweetest human being that he is, ends up smiling and accepting her right away. idk... perhaps way too perfect. she could've left him a thousand times and he would just be there waiting for her with a soft smile, a coffee and a book on his hand, and that doesn't sit well with me somehow.
this kdrama is indeed good for it's lighthearted and sweet moments, but fails to marry the traumatic past lifes with the sweet and easy going romance. this show either needed way more episodes or it's just too easy going.
Quick shout out to the wonderful actress that played Im Hwi and the actor that played Jang Woo for making me genuinely laugh so much! Such genuine characters and crazy good actors!

Thought provoking
If you were given the power to kill a man with a single app, would you do it?I feel like this show was so relevant if you think of this current generation. Keyboard warriors on every app.
The premisse of the show was wonderful since day one. And stayed pretty flawless until the end.
Even with all that "show" on the last ep, i still think the revenge lacked impact. They all had it easy in my eyes.
I actually wanted something more vile to happen, but that's maybe because i am used to watch so many western shows with twisted criminals.
The judge is the epitome of anti-hero. You will trust no one until the very end. Absolutely no character is to be trusted, and i love this show because of it. I genuinely didn't know who had the true version of each event.
Amazing script! Amazing acting! Amazing directing! Flawless OST!
This was a delight!

*sigh*
I was hooked until episode 4 or 5. Then it went downhill each episode it went by.It was a mess. All stories were insanely poorly written.
Some actors credited here as "main actors" are nothing but secondary... the 2nd love story was beyond terrible. One of then is a coward and the other is obsessed with non-consensual kissing. The main story could be okay... no... jesus it could've been pretty solid, but the writers only got the premise right... after that was a disaster.
The worst part of it all? The last two eps. Painfully boring and with nothing but a nonsense and cheesy lines.
Some plots don't connect... it was a hot mess.
Honestly i've watched it all because i love In Seo Guk, if it had any other ML i would've drop it.
The rating i am giving is too high... but the first eps were indeed very powerful and the main leads showed immense potential. I'm so sad it turned out to be like this... just wow. The writers really lost their minds on this one.

Lighthearted but forgettable!
Frankly, I find it too lighthearted for me.It's also been a while since I have seen so many underwhelming kissing scenes. They are all university students, but the characters were built as if they are still in high school, and that bothers me profoundly. I thought this was going to be a little more mature than a typical YA. This also doesn't feel like a season 1 either, because the last ep was not wrapped up like a season finale. Kdramas tend to have 16 episodes, so this just reached the middle, as it always does. Having two separate seasons will not benefit the structure of this kdrama whatsoever.
Everything is so lighthearted that i couldn't care less about any of the characters. They all look like secondary characters in their own lives. But this kdrama it's also not so bad that i have to drop it.
This show will be nobody's favorite. No favorite characters will come out of it, and the story and the love arcs are as forgettable as it can be. But still, here we are.

Friendship and Family!
People that gave less than 7 to this kdrama were watching it for the wrong reasons.Yes this story has romance, but also has so much more than that. Has business, friendship, personal growth... and most importantly is also about family. I think people have to remind themselves that we are in kdramaland, this is not going to be your business focused kdrama, or with the perfect friendship, romance or family story. It's as always, a combination. And in this case a really well executed one. Changing the love partner for the other lead character wouldn't suddenly make this story go from 1 to 10 lol if a story is ever being a 1 for me, in a scale of 10, i will just drop it. I won't wait for a finale to give it 1. There's a lot of kdramas to watch in a lifetime. Please watch smt else then!
With all of this being said, the only thing i would change in this kdrama would be indeed the second male lead romance... But not like everyone else. His character would be PERFECT to fit under a big bro role. Think about it... he was orphan, and his only family became the grandmother. Their story was so beautiful. Wouldnt it be incredibly beautiful if he was helping Dalmi without explaining his intentions but later just ending up being for the grandmother that was more than a mother to him? Well... i know. We are in kdramaland so ofc if a REALLY GOOD second male lead shows up it's either super evil and wants to destroy everything or has to be involved in the romance. No place for brotherly and cute friendships in kdramas.
But that would be it. I agree that love at first sight is used way too often (and i don't even believe it's real) but also being in love with the same person you were when u were 12, also ain't it for me. Puppy and cute first love in comparison with adult love is way too different for me, personaly. I absolutely hate the "meant to be" troop based on past events, so i am glad of how things turned up.
This kdrama has for the first time second leads that i adore as much as the main leads, and i am super happy about that! I am sick and tired of weak and "lets pretend i ever got a chance in this love triangle" male characters that also have no other depth to themseves... they exist to annoy you - only!!! I always end up rolling my eyes at their failed atempts to do anything. But what this writer did by hiring Kim Seon Ho and giving him such a role, is making me super curious about him now. I kinda want to watch a kdrama where he IS the main lead. And for me that is some good work right here.

Not bad, not at all, but it's super cheesy.
This one must be for the romantics of this world.I will not talk about all the things that made absolutely no sense in here, plot holes and so on. I'll excuse it all because it's a kdrama.
So on the kdrama world alone, it's still super corny and cheesy. I can't even say that "it's too romantic" because that's not the expression I am looking for. The whole "we were always meant for each other" narrative gives me the creeps - especially because they used it so often, with so many unnecessary and very poorly filmed throwbacks - honestly it's not for me.
I thought this would be more political and historical. Since to this day, the "two" Koreas are still divided. They did explain a lot about North Korea, but it had such a lighthearted mood, most of the time, that somehow ended up not working for me.
Everyone's a great actor, so I have nothing to say about that. My high score is based entirely on the supporting characters. The only moments I felt more emotional was because of the friendship between all the officers and the lady's from North Korea, that were so pure and lovable.
If this kdrama was anything for me, was because of those amazing supporting characters plus the secondary couple. Their chemistry was much better than that of the main couple. I understand that they both played their part(s) well, so I am not pointing fingers, it's just that for me the other one was much more adorable and funny. If anything, the main characters made the necessary fillers, so that the secondary characters could shine on the screen afterwards.
About the last minutes of the kdrama... truly a work of art for the romantics of this world. So it's gonna be like that forever, this two-week system? Is that real life?! Absolutely not... but were the romantics happy with the "happy ending"? (it's a happy ending right?!). I guess they were.

I think this kdrama it's both a necessary story that everyone should watch and also one we have to watch with a grain of salt. Even though the first episodes are what you would call a more "realistic" representation of the korean education system, the further you go into it, the more it's about a sudden "murder investigation" and less about things that i was looking forward to watch.I would say, if well written, instead of a murder investigation, the more realistic scenario would be mind manipulation made into suicide... cause that's what happens when kids are pushed to be the absolute best in a broken environment. There's many cases of suicide within students, and if something extreme needed to be showed in this particular kdrama, then it would be that... no one wants to see it, but it needs to be talked about more often.
We start this kdrama hating absolutely every character, and that's just right for the type of story it is. The murder investigation was what made possible for us to see how far some of these parents are willing to go to see their kids at the top, but somehow i wished this was showed without the kdrama-murder plot. Because i feel like in real life, parents do a lot to see their kids at the top and play dirty too, without being involved in murder cases.
The last episode... it's a joke. From beginning to end. Had to drop a star and a half just for that. Some people will live in a broken household all their lives, will hate their family all their lives, will run away from home for good... the sudden happy endings for every household is a total break of character for almost everyone. In reality that wouldn't happen. Even the "good" parents would still make you finish at least highschool, and the not so good parents would not suddendly become good just like that, not even when threatened.
For this kdrama to be as perfect as the high ratings indicate, they would have to show at least 1 ending in which some of these family's would be broken or unfased for life, because that's how it actually goes.

Outstanding!
From the PERFECT cast, to the amazing story... idk where i should start to compliment this kdrama.First 10/11 episodes were a masterpiece. This was headed to be my ALL TIME favorite Kdrama and then it became one of my favorites.
I suspected EVERYONE in this kdrama. When i say everyone i mean it. From all the cops, to the in laws, to the friends, to the wife, to the sister, to the main actor. No one was safe. Every episode i had a new suspect in mind, and usually that never happens to me while watching Kdramas, because usually no one has the budget to have a lot of suspectful characters. It's usually so easy to understand the plot right away from like episode 3, but NOT this one!
From episode 1 to 10, this was the best Kdrama i've ever seen in my life. Unmatched... but then from episode 11 to the end, the CRAZY enthusiasm i had while watching every episode slowly started to fade. Not because it turned bad, not at all, but because it started to feel like a long filler to get to the end.
Leaving the wife, returning, going together, pretending to work with her, leaving her again... felt, to me, very repetitive and easy to spot intentions. And up until episode 10 almost nothing about this kdrama was predicable for me. Idk how to really explain it, but usually this sort of tv show makes you suspect everyone until the very end, and leave 1 or 2 episodes max to clear it all out. Revealing a lot of honest feelings at episode 11/12, when the show ends at 16, was a bit risky.
Not to mention the last episode. When i finished episode 15 i was like "ok. now what?" and then from the first shot alone i knew what the writers would do with the rest of the story, and even though you could say it was fitting (2nd chance)... idk, also felt a little bit like an unnecessary arc?!
With all of this being said, this Kdrama it's still a "9" for me.
I never re-watch content, but i can't wait to re-watch this in a few years. I feel like i might end up having different feelings towards it. Feels like something i should watch more than once.

And all of a sudden is my favorite kdrama
NO ONE TALK TO ME! This was definitely the best kdrama i've ever watched!Definitely NOT for everyone though! I love f*cked up stories, and usually only watch truly crazy stuff like this in western produtions, so to be able to see it in korean it's something i didn't see coming!
10/10! The acting, the characters development, the story, the plot twists... it's just chief's kiss, honestly!
Not used to these kind of endings from a korean production, though. I fully accept these type of endings from movies (mainly western ones) and so on, but it's legit the first time a kdrama leaves me like this... and i kind of like it. It's insane... honestly! Just wow... Kim Dong Hee has 4 kdramas on his CV so far... and on the list there's Sky Castle and Itaewon Class... HE IS INSANE! A main role at his age... wow. I CAN'T WAIT to watch what this kid will do next. I'll legit watch anything he's in! Super impressed! (good job JYP aha)

Controversial.
For me love is not the most important thing in a relationship.Love can not save everything.
When you are in love in highschool, you are quite young, and you get completely intoxicated in the other person, you live a lot off your emotions rather than your rationality. When you grow up the "new" factor dissipates a bit, you still get excited but you are overall more composed, so love isn't as overwhelming. Life and being alive, for me, is about living for a lot of different things, not just love. And i believe this was well portrayed here. There's a big difference between a 15y and a 30y in terms of lifestyle and social events, things that are essential to our everyday life.
I admit that if the boy was 18, this would still be weird to me but at least i wouldn't mind it as much. If you still want to throw controversy then 17 would make me less sick to my stomach, even if he's still underage. Hard to explain why that is, and luckly the actor not only doesn't quite look like he has 15, he is 22y old in real life. Because a 15y japanese boy would really look like a small child - rightfully so - and pedophilia is not something to dismiss and romanticize.
I am about to become 30 and i can't imagine even dating someone in their early tweenties - still going to university and without a job and a similar lifestyle to mine, let alone a minor. I tried through all this jdrama to understand in what ways their soul was connected, so much so that the age of the body wouldn't matter but a 15y and a 30y it's a crazy difference in terms of maturity. The drama also showed how possessive and insecure the male protagonist was, also due to his age maybe, but honestly i can't really accept it. "Love has no age" it's a pretty thing people like to throw around and for sure it all comes down to the maturity on both parts, but there's no way you can try to convince me a 30y would be totally ok with dating a 15y cause the mental age is not that different. I was 15 once... i can guarantee you i was super immature and not ready to compute with any 30y.
I will take it with a grain of salt. There's lot of things i will probably never understand, but it's important to open our hearts to hear different stories once in a while and ask ourselves what would we do in similar situations. Worth watching. Thought provoking.
